I had such an amazing experience finding my wedding dress at Clarice's! I was nervous going in because I'm not someone who has ever loved trying on clothes but they did a great job of making me feel comfortable. My consultant was Lydia and I cannot say enough good things about her. She was the perfect hype woman but also made sure that my opinion was what we focused on. They had me send in pictures of dresses I liked before my appointment so dresses were pulled that I would like ahead of time. This helped stream line the process so much. After the first round of trying on all the dresses Lydia helped me talk through all of them and narrow it down, but also pulled more dresses based on styles I liked on! I was also asked about my budget before my appointment, and they only brought out dresses that were within my budget. I'm so thankful for this because it would have been horrible to fall for a dress I couldn't afford. They had a wide range of prices so I didn't feel limited by my budget at all. I never felt rushed at all which put me so at ease with the whole process. I had to put my dress on 4 times total to finally make a decision but once I said yes Lydia made me feel so confident in my decision. The staff were very helpful while I searched for a gala dress. I did not have appointment, as I was just wandering aground town window shopping for the event, but even still, they took time to provide great customer service. It's a beautiful shop, but finding the entrance was is bit tricky - at least for me LOL. You can do what I did and park at main street level and walk up a sort of hard to find side steps to the entrance, or learn from this review - drive up the hill and park right by the entrance. :) read more

My cousin chose this place for her bridesmaids dresses. The staff was rude. Did not communicate with bride or us in the wedding party. They lost the measurements and receipt of maid of honor. They got the date of wedding wrong. Waited too long to order the dresses. They would not arrive in time for wedding. Gave the bride a excuse that they were waiting for the 5th bridesmaid to get measure . There was not 5th bridesmaid. They didn't try to contact bride about this until it was too late for the dresses to come in. She had spoke with them about the email she sent to them about dresses. They told her they don't actually read the emails that he get a auto generated response. When she canceled everything the told her that the bridesmaids would need to contact them for a refund. Oh how I wish I had remembered the names of the people who helped me. After dragging my feet for months, I finally decided to go wedding dress shopping. Their method of "helping" is to have an appointment where they can tailor the experience to you (for their exuberant young or naive wedding "blinded by the lights" bride) Not a place for the discriminating buyer with means, but a place that is more suited for a naive daughter that will become a bridezilla spending Dads money puppeted by exuberant likely commissioned staff. Obviously I did not like it and was disappointed after driving a long distance. Hopefully I can find something else to temper a bad experience. We had the most incredible experience with Yulia at Clarice's Bridal. Yulia had contacted us ahead of time so that everything was ready at the time of our arrival. When my party had suggestions and wanted to see different things, Yulia was patient and kind enough to grab us other dresses. She even pulled a few others after getting to know more what we gravitated towards and we ended up purchasing the dress that Yulia picked out at the end. We had a blast and the whole experience was so much fun. Ok, I'll start with my review then my pricing for my wedding is at the bottom. I purchased my wedding dress from Clarice's after going to a place in Saint Charles that lied to me. My budget was $300 and Wedding Gallery said O could try on any dress in a certain room and I would stay under budget. I tried on dresses for 2 hours before narrowing down my choices and asked for pricing on my 3 favorites. Wedding gallery then quoted me $350 - $450 for my top 3 favorites which obviously was over my budget and infuriated me for having my time wasted. I walked into Clarices, told them my budget, and they led me to the section for my price range. The dress I picked was more beautiful than anything else I had tried, and only cost $150 in the end! It was a beautiful shop and everyone was so kind and helpful. I am so so SO happy I tried Clarices because they are the reason I felt beautiful on my wedding day. If you're on a budget - I had 2 bridesmaids and ordered their dresses from Amazon. My shoes came from Amazon for about $20, and my ring bearer pillow was ordered from Amazon for about $8. My dress came from Clarices for about $150. I went to Jeanies alterations in wentzville and had the sides taken in, the bust changed, and added a bustle for $120. I got my flowers from Mistys on 5th St for $50 for all 3 bouquets. We ate at Roux Royale in New Town, they sectioned off part of their patio and set us up buffet style and we got tons of compliments on our food choice. My hair was done at Dominic Michael for $90 after tip which was my big wedding splurge to be honest. I did not do any trial runs, just showed the stylist pics I liked on Pinterest. After being duped by another bridal salon and sold a dress 8 sizes too big, I went to Clarice's hoping to find something that would work for my wedding day. The consultants worked so hard to find me something I would love after hear about my previous experience. I ultimately purchased the same dress (they were able to order it even though the previous store told me it couldn't be ordered) in the right size. They even discounted it almost 30% because they hated how I'd been treated by the other salon. To boot, it you purchase your dress there, you get 15% off bridesmaids and mother of the bride dresses. Clarice's is a must-stop wedding dress shop in the STL area, with some caveats you should know about before you go. Pro: - Large selection of reasonably priced gowns, from a few hundreds to thousands. They will sell you the dresses off the rack as samples for a nice discount...something to consider if you are like me and lolligag with the dress shopping until it's too late to order something in for the wedding. I am pretty lazy and my free time is valuable to me so I'd rather not spend all weekend running around bridal shops just to see 10 dresses at each place to choose from. You won't have that problem here. They will have a ton to pick from. Con: - The space is WAY too small for how many brides/mom/dad/uncle/whoever that come with in the bridal party they try to accommodate all at the same time. You are literally tumbling over other parties as you look through racks of dresses. I made an appointment for noon on a Saturday and holy crap! They had at least four other parties inside the small building at the same time. I had to try on my dresses in the office! That's totally fine with me; I'm not picky, but it seriously limits your time and how many dresses you get to try on. My person and I grabbed 3 and I can tell that's all she can let me put on without going into the next person's appointment. I have never, in a wedding dress shop, felt as much pressure to get dressed quickly as I have here, and that's a bit unpleasant. Just something to keep in mind. Bottom line: by all means, go! They have beautiful selections and are reasonably priced. I didn't get my dress here in the end but I found some very tempting styles that I almost ended up with. read more

My sister and I had both received positive reviews from friends about Clarice's prior to her engagement. During her holiday break she decided to tackle dress shopping and so did ever other bride. Clarice's and many other shops were booked the Sat before Christmas. So my sister opted for the Wednesday prior to Christmas. My mom & I arrived a few moments late. Clean warm wood floors and bright chandeliers housed the rainbow of formal dresses. A group of girls clamored about an upcoming winter formal/prom. 5 attendees at the front desk talked amongst themselves. We turned the corner to find a group of very unhappy women. We returned to the front desk and waited until they were done with their side conversation. Then they motioned us up stairs. We found my cousins sitting outside a dressing room. I spoke to the door "Thanks for waiting Sara" and a strange voice replied "Thanks for being on time." I brushed it off and thought it as wedding stress--only to find out later it was the fitting attendee and not my sister. Prior to our arrival she had tried on 1 dress. After we arrived she only tried on 4 dresses (Which is a shame bc they had gorgeous quality dresses). We almost didn't get the 5th try on because we were abruptly told that we only had 4 mins left in the session. We were the only group in 1 of 3 rooms. They didn't close for another hour. They made no mention of closing early or that their appointments were limited to 1 hour per bride. Then when we asked about another time she said we'd have to check with the front desk...despite the fact that the appointment book was a few feet away. If one can't maintain enough energy to get through the rigorous holiday rush and still have a little holiday joy @ 3-430 pm perhaps they need a midday break or an early bird shift or a cookie. High-end boutique feel without the South City Charm....basic communication and customer service skills could have totally reversed this situation. read more

I previously went to Simply Elegant downtown to buy a dress and had a not-so-great experience. They spent most of the time telling me that they wouldn't be able to get almost any of the dresses in for me (I went in May and my wedding is in October). Despite saying I wanted a simple dress with very little train, the consultant only brought in huge, poofy tulle dresses with lenghty trains and I looked awful. Also the dresses were horribly overpriced. I really didn't want to go dress shopping again after this, but I decided to try Clarice's. It was awesome from the moment I walked in the door. I told Jenny, my consultant, that my wedding was in October and she said they would totally be able to help me out and not to worry about it. She said she had a dress that she knew would look amazing on me and she pulled some other "runner-ups" as well. Every dress she picked looked great, but the "amazing" dress that she had in mind from the first minute was the one I ended up loving. I highly recommend Clarice's. It was completely stress free and I left an hour and a half after I walked in, knowing I had a beautiful dress that will be in far before my wedding day. read more

I was on the search for a particular type of dress that was within a certain price range...that didn't look tacky or cheap. After several visits to other stores, my friend and I came upon Clarice's Bridal. We found a silky mermaid dress with ruching that we fell in love with (very similar to a more expensive version elsewhere in St. Louis) and it was affordable! They did say it wasn't going to arrive in time for my wedding, but they offered to rush order it for free if I bought that same day. They'd even throw in a veil for free. Now, I'm not sure if that was a ploy to get me to buy right on the spot...but hey, the dress was gorgeous and it was a price I was willing to pay. The lady there was so very nice to us and made us feel special. The dress came a month before the wedding just in time for alterations. I have mixed feelings when it comes to Clarice's. They have very helpful staff and very competitive prices, but I question some of the details. I went to Clarice's with my Maid of Honor looking for bridesmaid dresses and the sales staff was very nice and accommodating. We found a color we liked by a certain designer, and I had the girls pick out the styles they wanted. I then called around to different shops looking for the best prices for the different styles my girls picked (they all wore something different), and Clarice's was the winner. They were easy to work with over the phone. Then the dresses come in. They were earlier than expected - sweet. The bridesmaids begin picking up their dresses, and I get a call from one. One, just one, came in the wrong color! The colors were similar but obviously different. Luckily, the incorrect dress was for one of my two cousins that were sisters, and they picked up the dress together, finding the mistake. If it were one of my "single" bridesmaids, we may have never noticed the problem until the day of the wedding. I couldn't believe the shop didn't find the mistake when they received the order. I realize some brides put their maid of honor in a different color, but wouldn't you check to make sure?! The worst of all 6 stores I visited. First off the customer service is definitely lacking. Megan was my stylist and she was wearing VS yoga pants with PINK across the back of them for my appointment. She told me to go find some dresses to try on, she didn't help at all with the styling! I browsed around and pulled some dresses back to the room. They were in terrible condition some even torn up the sides. I explained to Megan I was having a hard time finding what I was looking for so she thought I'd be better suited in a bridesmaid dress over a Bridal gown. I have had the BEST experience with Clarice's time after time! If you are going in to try on bridal dresses, make sure that you make an appointment! They are by appointment only so that you get that one-on-one attention. When I arrived for my appointment, I came with one of my Maids of Honor, my Mom, and my Grandma. They have a dressing room and lounge on the upstairs portion, but I mentioned that my Grandma was still recovering from a hip replacement surgery and climbing a number of steps would be difficult for her. Without hesitation, my consultant was making my Grandma comfortable on the downstairs couches! We headed upstairs to look at the dresses. I explained what I liked, and what I didn't like. My consultant carried all of the wedding dresses downstairs so that I could try them on and my Grandma would be able to see! With in no time, I was saying "yes to the dress!" It was such a simple, yet thoughtful task that has made Clarice's such a memorable experience. I am not sure if they still do this or not (I bought my dress in 2010), but if I paid in full a the time of the purchase, they give you a small discount! read more

Clarice's seems like THE place to buy a wedding dress for any younger bride. All the sales people are young, hip, & upbeat. I did notice that their sample dresses are a lot more worn & torn than other shops, which can make it a little harder to picture what the dress would look like in mint condition. The price range of their dresses seems to be around $500 - $2,000 or so. My sales lady was Kate C. who was really great...she was helpful and super nice! While I didn't end up buying my wedding dress from here, it was a fun place to look for a gown. It seems like the kind of shop that could be on a budget version of "Say Yes to the Dress". read more

Yesterday I went to Davids bridal in Saint Peter's and had the worst experience. I was treated like I was an annoyance and wasn't even able to pick out what I wanted. I had a budget of 500$ and was basically told for that I wouldn't find anything. I read reviews online and decided to not let one shop ruin my experience and booked an appointment with Clarice's. From the minute I walked in I was greeted with smiles and friendly staff. I was helped by Katie and I really can't say enough about her! She was so down to earth and listened to what I wanted and let ME choose the dresses to try on. She was able to find me exactly what I wanted and in my price range she never tried to push me to spend more. If you're a bride on a budget seriously give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. I went to two bridal salons, and Clarice's was my first stop for the Allure Bridals spring 2018 trunk show. I was overwhelmed with the amount of wedding dresses at first, but my consultant Kelly explained how the store was organized. She had me look through trunk show items and pulled several gowns I liked. After trying those gowns, she pulled more gowns based on what I liked from the ones I've already tried on. Every single gown she chose for me was absolutely beautiful! I was afraid I couldn't make a decision, but she found an Allure gown from (I believe) the Fall 2017 collection. It was the perfect gown, and none of the other dresses I tried on that day even compared! The salon is beautiful with an endless selection of gowns. The people who work there are also so friendly and encouraging, and I did not feel pressured at all to buy. When I first called Clarice's Bridal to make an appointment, they told me their first opening was about 2 1/2 weeks away. Then they asked me my wedding date. It was only 4 months before my wedding! Immediately they told me they could squeeze me in that evening! So accommodating on the very first phone call! You may be wondering why any bride would wait until 4 months before the wedding to look for a dress. I had originally purchased a different dress because it was on sale at a different store. I wasn't happy with the dress and decided I didn't need to settle on a dress just because it was a good deal. So I went to Clarice's looking for my dream dress. I walked upstairs to the bridal room and immediately saw it. Now, I'm not the love at first site kind of girl, but when I saw it, I knew it was my dress! I tried on several dresses that day, but kept going back to the first dress. I knew it was the dress I had to have! I wasn't that happy with the lady that was helping me because she seemed kind of pushy and ready for me to make a decision. I later found out that it was her first day...that might have explained it? Katie (the manager) started helping me and was fabulous! She brought me dress after dress making sure I was happy with my experience. By the time I had decided, the store was closing. There weren't any customers left in the store, but Katie stayed upstairs with me helping me figure out everything! She never once seemed to care that I was there "after hours". She got the dress rushed for me and fit to hem which saved me SO much money!! She also threw in a mermaid slip for me at no charge! Their dresses are all really affordable too. Katie and the Clarice's staff are so friendly and accommodating. They can help you with dress styles,have very affordable prices, and know what they're doing. The selection of dresses was overwhelming, but Yulia paid attention to my budget, what I said at the outset I liked and didn't like, and what looked good on me and made me feel comfortable as the appointment unfolded. She also gently encouraged me to take risks, but I never felt like her personal Barbie doll -- and her thinking outside my box led me to find what became The Dress (!!!). Yulia was very sweet without asking a billion nosy questions or wanting to be my BFF, and she really put me at ease. I kept my other dress appointment that day (which was at a much larger store and frankly sucked by comparison) and returned a few hours later, mind made up, to place my order.
