She did a great job of hemming my dress , charged me $50 for a two layer long dress and to fix the shoulder length. I would recommend.

Beautiful Alterations - Sewed in the sleeves for me

    Beautiful Alterations

I've trusted Gamila at Beautiful Alterations with my clothing for nearly eight years, and I…read morehonestly can't imagine going anywhere else. She's done everything from everyday alterations to creating custom garments for me, and every single piece has been flawless. Her craftsmanship, attention to detail, and ability to bring an idea to life are truly remarkable. What really speaks to her talent is that my sister located in NY works in the luxury designer apparel industry, where part of her job is evaluating and working with some of the best seamstresses around the world. She's incredibly selective and has exceptionally high standards. After seeing Gamila's work firsthand on a vintage garment I wore to the Versace runway show in 2022 my sister immediately recognized that my garment was customized and asked me who did my garment and complimented her skill and craftsmanship. That says everything. Gamila has an incredible eye for fit, construction, and detail. Whether it's a simple alteration or a custom piece, she treats every garment with the same level of care and precision. Her work looks seamless--as if it came that way from the original designer. If you're looking for the best seamstress in the Sacramento area, look no further. Her talent is unmatched, her prices are fair, and she genuinely cares about her clients. I recommend her without hesitation.

I was only partially happy with the alteration job I received. The ruffles on the chest of the…read moredress were wavy, so I brought the dress in to have the shoulders lifted because it pulled the ruffles more taught and I am quite short. When I came back to try on, they were much better but still not great, as shown in the image. When I went to check out, I noticed a splotch on the shoulder of the dress on the sleeve. VERY small. When I asked her about it, she said it wasn't there before (which tells me that it happened in the shop, which it did). However she did not offer to dry clean it or try to get the stain out. Reasonably priced. I would only come back if I needed a simpler alteration, but not for another bridesmaid's dress. *update* due to my interaction with Alice, who reached out to see how she could make my experience better, I am updating my review from a 3-star to a 4-star. Thanks.

Five Star Cleaners & Tailoring did an amazing job with my wedding dress!…read more During our wedding, we took photos outside, and unfortunately, there was a little mud that got on my dress. On top of that, my cat must have been upset she wasn't invited, because a couple days after we returned home, she had a seemingly intentional accident in very close proximity to the dress. Although the dress was in a bag at the time, both the dress and the veil ended up with a slight odor to them. After that, I decided it was time to look into cleaning options. I had already been to Five Star in the past, so I used the Yelp project feature to reach out to them as well as a few other cleaners in the Sacramento area. They were very responsive and their pricing to clean and preserve the dress was very reasonable, so I decided to go with them. The turnaround time for cleaning was about a week, which is exactly what they estimated. They showed me the dress before it was boxed so I could confirm it was properly cleaned. There were no more mud stains, and the odor was completely gone! After I inspected the dress, they asked me to come back in a day or two after they had time to box it. It was wedding and prom season, so they were a little busy, and I told them I was in no rush to get the dress back. I went back a few days later and picked up a large box. There was an outer, regular, storage box and inside was a large preservation box that had a display window. It looked great! Oh, and to top it all off, I had originally only inquired about cleaning and boxing for the dress, but when I asked how much it would be to add the veil, they included it for free! Thank you!!

They always deliver the service I requested. A quality dry cleaning service is hard to find near me…read morebut I'm happy I found this place. The value is worth it because my stained clothing is always clean when I pick up. Parking can be challenging in the plaza but that is a minor inconvenience for the quality and good price.

I'm in a wedding out of state this summer and the groom is working with a local, family-run suit store that has a measurement form on their website. I wasn't able to get full measurements at two local big box stores (it's been awhile, maybe this is a thing now?) so I decided to seek out a smaller business. I called Old Country Tailor and they picked up after the second ring. I explained the situation and asked if I could come by on my way home in half an hour. They said I could arrive any time and it should only take a couple minutes. There were three customers in the store and I waited only a minute - just long enough to get a glimpse of employees working behind the register among stacks upon stacks of cloth. Seems like they have plenty of work to go around. I was recognized by voice and we started on what I called about. I pulled up the measurement form on my phone, got all my numbers filled out, and was treated like an old friend. When I asked "how much do I owe you?" she refused payment and said "nothing, that wasn't enough work to charge you!" I was having a moderately garbage week at that point and it made me remember there are still good people out there! That being said, I'll definitely go back for more substantial needs in the future.
