I followed Dr. Davis from the U. Of I. Vet Clinic to AHATC when he began this veterinary practice…read more I'm not even sure what year that was. I'm 85, so you know I am extremely happy with the competence and care all our dogs (and cats) have received. I have found warm and welcoming professionals from the receptionists, vet techs, and veterinarians throughout the many years I have been coming to this vet practice. The same has been true since Dr. Davis retired and Dr. Stoerger has continued the practice. Every time I've had to make that awful decision a pet owner often faces, I have been supported and eased through euthanizing a beloved furry member of our family, this practice has supported me with their combined veterinary skills, their empathy, and their understanding for my loss. My most recent experience in dealing with my Murphy's struggle with cancer, I was able to get through it with their support and caring. Dr. Stoerger came to my home with a vet tech and told me to let her know when I was ready. (You're not ever really "ready" to lose your friend and companion, but you know it's the last caring thing you can do for them, and I was given the gift of Dr. Stoerger's understanding and empathy for my loss. She has cared for Murphy, my beagle mix, from 2012 when I adopted him until his recent euthanasia. When the mass was discovered in his lung, she told me of the cancer division at U. Of I. Veterinarian Medical School, who were wonderful as well. When I took him there, she shared his medical records with them. In his illness and euthanasia, she was so tender with him--and with me--that I felt comforted, and I know Murphy was as well. I highly and confidently recommend Dr. Stoerger and this practice who will make your pet and you feel not only welcome, but confident in their hands. received. She shared his

Zero stars is more appropriate!…read more My daughter's sweet dog was severely stressed and vomiting and had diarrhea as soon as he came home from being groomed there. The groomer he had previously had quit and the groomer that day said she was overwhelmed, and even though his appointment was at 10am it would be 3pm or later before I could pick him up. He is now at the U of I vet, on an iv, and being treated for dehydration. More tests will be run Monday, so he has to stay at the hospital for two nights. Do NOT take your dog there for grooming or boarding! The place is filthy and the customer service is terrible. Their kennel dogs were stuck outside in the heat. I could hear them all yelping and felt so sorry for them. I should have turned around and immediately left. If you just drive by the place, you will keep on going! It is NOT worth the convenience to go there. They should pay the vet bill too! I am so upset for my daughter and her dog. I am convinced this place mistreats the animals entrusted to them! Go to grooming by Jessica instead!

Please let me preface this review by saying that I do not usually give 1 star reviews. That being…read moresaid, I would give this place a zero if I could. I made the appointment and came to drop off my dogs at 8 am. When I saw the outside of the place I wanted to just keep driving, and I just should have listened to my instincts. This place should be called the Pet Shack because its literally a dirty, run down shack. We came in and there was no one around. We waited and still no one and then finally we saw a little plastic door bell to ring for service. Eventually someone came down. This was not the groomer so I had to tell this person what to tell the groomer. They weren't rude, but weren't friendly either. What really got me was how run down and filthy the place was, I felt bad for the dogs that were boarding there because their cages were gross and had excrement laying all over the place. There was dog hair all over the front room floor, like big piles of hair, as if the floor had not been swept in a while. I really should have left at that point but I didn't, the dogs needed to be cut so I just gave in. I came back at noon to uneven and choppy cuts. I will never take my dogs here again and I feel guilty that I ever took them there to begin with. I should have read the reviews on Google because there are similar experiences posted on there. I don't know how anyone could ever call this place clean.

My vet had given me guidelines for taking him to an emergency vet over the weekend. Kayla was so kind and helpful over the phone, it reassured me. Thankfully, over Sunday night Peach ate and used box. Even though I didn't need to take him in to the clinic, they were so kind and compassionate, I know where I will take my cats if I have an emergency.

His…read morestomach is extended and he gained 5 pounds, which if he is not eating he would not gain weight. He also has been stabile in his weight for many years as he is an older dog. I only took him here because my vet could not get him in for a few days and I did not want to pay thousands at U of I Vet Med. Spent $700 to be told he is dehydrated but nothing is wrong with him. As a dog owner for my entire life (my parents had multiple dogs when I was a kid and multiple had medical concerns) I know my dog and how he acts. To be dismissed about my concerns and told there is nothing wrong with him is concerning. I am now taking him to my vet due to the same issue as well as a massive bump on his ear that is causing his ear to droop and him being in pain. My dog pants when he is stressed and in pain and I tried to tell them this as well but this was also dismissed. Not only did I spend $700 to be told nothing was wrong, now I have to pay even more money to get the original problem looked at and fixed. If a thorough exam had been completed and my concerns were heard, my dog would have already had the treatment he needed, instead of being in pain and I wouldn't be out so much money for the same concern. I was also told by the tech I would receive a call the following week to check up and see how my dog is doing but have not received a call and now 3 weeks later have not heard anything from them. I took him to my vet, Country View, who just looking at my dog told me he had an ear hematoma. He had a severe ear infection that led to his ear drum being shut off. My vet answered all my questions, including telling me that him not eating and drinking was because he was in pain and had an infection. My dog will now have an ear droop the rest of his life because the infection was not caught. This is negligence on the doctors part at Sports Vet. There was no exam done because if there was he would have caught the ear infection which could have been treated for way less than $700 and my dog wouldn't have developed an ear hematoma. Sports Vet does not want to do anything to make this better and just say I'm sorry. What do you want me to do? Do better! Stop charging people outrageous amounts of money to find something so simple as an ear infection. Do your job!
