I asked about the nail services they provided and Hein recommended the Dip Powder Nail. He was so kind and showed me all the samples of dip colors. The new owner truly could not be nicer, and she does a fabulous job with my acrylics w/shellac. I always get compliments!! ----------------- After moving to Mequon from downtown Milwaukee in February I stumbled across this place as it was unassumingly located across from the Metro Market in a strip mall. While the decor is nothing like what you'd find downtown at a posh "nail bar" the service is the reason to choose this salon. I walked in and was immediately greeted and asked what service I would like. They have a great selection of all top brand shellac polishes including the newest collection from OPI (I believe they have upwards of 160 colors to choose from!) Picked a polish and proceeded to get the best mani of my life (I'm quite picky about quality, especially with filing +cuticle removal) complete with paraffin dip and hand massage for... $30! Oh and they have wine, if you weren't already convinced. read more

I guess I should have paid closer attention the the reviews. I chose this spot due to my husband being at Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee and needed a close spot for a dip manicure. My dip usually lasts 3-4 weeks and I started having chipping in 5 days Is also took 75 minutes where my normal spot is under 60. And I have to say it wasn't the cleanest spot. Great service - great price! A basic pedi for $28 - how much could you expect? Turns out, quite a bit in this place. It's clean, modern and welcoming. My nails need all the help they can get. Luckily, Elegant Nail & Spa moved into town and I stopped in for a "tune up". Everything appeared very clean and the staff was friendly. After picking out a color from the large selection on the wall, I enjoyed watching the salt water fish and light conversation with the staff. I had an opportunity to relax in the massage chair during my pedicure and caught up on an episode of House Hunters during my manicure. They even offer waxing services so if it be the case, they can make an eyebrow plural in a jiffy. Due to my dry hands, I often enjoy a paraffin wax treatment too. This all sounds like it is adding up. For a traditional (non shellac) manicure, pedicure, and brow wax it will clock in at UNDER fifty dollars. Most salon and spas will charge you that for a manicure alone. I do not go in on a regular basis by any means, but sometimes it is a great way to relax and treat myself. What makes Elegant Nail & Spa stand out in comparison to similar nail shops in the area? I enjoy the conversation and the scents of their scrubs and lotions are more my speed. Down to business, I will certainly be back and probably take my hubby with me! Good mani/pedi for $40 can't beat it. I loved that they open at 9am, I'm an up and at em girl on the weekends this was great for me! I was greeted promptly upon arrival and quickly taken back for my pedi. At 9 am I did not expect many customers but they already had 4 and one was a gentleman getting a pedi. I knew immediately that my husband would be comfortable there. The english spoken is good and if you dont' get offended my casual co-worker chit chat in another language you'll be just fine. I stopped here based on the 2 previous reviews and they did not disappoint Pretty basic spa pedi,& regular mani, but I did enjoy the added warm towel wrap prior to the leg massage. my only ehhh gripe is that they did not use nail clippers and filed my toes instead. I guess it's what your used to. I did not bring cash for a tip but they accepted one paid by card. Nice to know if you forget. Still over all nice job and fairly priced. I'm not one to post negative reviews, but I was so upset about my last outing at Elegant Nails I felt inclined to warn future customers. I decided to get a gel manicure last Saturday morning, and the service was completely rude, even though I was the only one there for a while, and the manicurist didn't accept any student discount. I spent $40 (tip included) for my gel manicure and it chipped three days after getting them done. It was such a scam and I'm upset that I spent the money on a service that should've given me two weeks without a chip. Now my nails are chipped, on multiple fingers, and it hasn't even been a week. I will not be attending again and I wish I could get my money back for rude service, as well as a poor gel manicure. I would highly suggest looking elsewhere for a quality nail job worth the money. read more

I recently moved to the area and have been trying to find a nail salon to get a dip manicure. This absolutely not the place. The nail tech refused to use the drill to remove my dip that had grown out. She was not able to get all of it off of my nails and kept saying the color wouldn't show through. I picked a sheer pink and the red from my previous dip did show. This place is not sanitary - the nail tech pulled out used nail files from the drawer to use on me. She also bragged about how good she was at doing dip manicures. I was at the salon for over 90 minutes for just a dip because the top coat was not drying. She had to have another tech redo the top coat after 5 tries. The manicure did not last. I had one nail chip after 3 days and another 2 nails chipped a week later. A good dip usually lasts me 3 weeks and does not chip. Yikes! read more

Now this is an awesome nail salon. I'm not saying it's the most fancy, pampering place I've been, but damn, they give good (shellac) manicures! I got my nails done here with a friend on December 19. 17 days later is when I got my first chip. I repeat, 17 days later! That is unheard of, quite frankly. I've gotten shellac from other places that has chipped a day later (disappointing, I know). Currently, it's been 20 days since my manicure, and I have a few chipped nails on my right hand, which is to be completely expected. Anyway, back to my visit. My friend and I walked in (appointment-less) around 6pm on a Friday. We were greeted immediately (+1) and asked what services we'd like. We both were getting shellac, so they directed us to the nail wheels to pick out a color. I may be the most fickle person I know, so I appreciated the patience as I debated between colors for a solid 5 minutes. The technicians sat us next to each other (+1) and proceeded with the best shellac I've ever gotten (+2). Both ladies were nice, funny, and gentle. The manicure probably lasted about 45 minutes, with a brief hand massage. Perhaps the second best part of this experience was when we checked out. A shellac manicure for $30 (+2 again)?! Woohoo, a great manicure at a great price! I will most definitely be back to Elegant Nail & Spa for future nail appointments. I just wish it were closer :( read more

I would not return. I went in for a pedicure. It was very fast. They only put one coat of nail polish and the clear coat was so thick it pooled in areas. The ladies were not attentive more annoyed having to work. After inspecting later they did not clean any off my nail beds and there was polish below. Basically I could have done a better job myself. Very annoyed I wasted my money. I think this was the reason the place was empty. read more

Ugh, just where do I start? Just over-all BAD. The only slightly positive experience was that I was able to get a walk in appointment by phone 15 minutes before, and I don't even think the man answering the phone took my name correctly. Otherwise, this felt very UN-relaxing. Perhaps the lack of customer service from my nail tech was the main issue, but her lack of communication and just rude behavior left a very poor impression. My pedicure felt like someone was angrily ripping skin off my feet with no regard to how rough the act of scrubbing was. I swear the tip of my toes are scrubbed to death, which is not standard. Not to mention the critical trimming experience left me wondering if my nail beds would be bleeding my the time I left.... and I'm relatively regular with pedicures during the summer. The only communication was a small rap on my leg to tell me to either put it back in the bowl or to pick my foot up. As for my nails, again, I was not asked anything or even spoke directly to. My nails were filed in the most haphazard and half-a**ed way, they are still jagged despite me asking for a file down in areas. The only verbal cue I got was at the end when I was asked to pay and to "be careful" with my wet nails near my purse. *Umm, yeah... I don't want to come back to fix this!* Disappointing, but considering the torture combo was only $40, I'll let them have a star. That being said, I'll travel farther for some place else and will pay more for a relaxing experience. read more

I took my friend here to get her nails done. The place was empty on a Saturday and there was a teenage kid in the back of the store blasting some cartoon tv that was obnoxious and uncomfortable. There was no music, and the man that did her nails was short and rude. I went to the Taco Bell next door with lovely music playing and felt more relaxed in there than the salon. Sad. This is a strip mall gem, and I will definitely be back ... in fact, I will probably return in about a week for my next mani, along with a pedicure, too. The combo is $40, which is a huge draw for me. I stopped in randomly and was very, very impressed. The salon is clean, and nicely decorated. Although open since last fall, the furniture, mani stations & drying station look brand new. Plus, as you enter directly to your left is a cute self-serve coffee bar. LOVE THAT. I got a basic mani in Essie's "Tie the Knot," a semi-opaque nude. My mani is nice, although not a neat as I like or I do at home. That said, my tech was very pleasant and QUICK. The drying station was clean and the TVs had news. I really like the color selection of both Essie & OPI products, and their hours are extended as the salon opens at 9 AM. I'm not an early riser, but it bugs me to wait until nearly noon to get my nails done on the weekend. Finally, I know the preference is to pay a cash tip, and I usually comply, but there is the option of leaving a tip on your credit card. I've gone places before that will NOT apply a tip via credit card, and I think that is so annoying. Overall, this salon fits my needs perfectly, so I will pick this spot over Gloss & Polished, my two prior favorites, in the future. read more

Horrible experience. Been going there couple of times, but my last experience was absolutely horrible. First girl filed my nails so short and uneven that I told her to stop. She did not even apologized and talked rude to me when I was having a conversation with another employee. Who does that???? The second girl was nicer and try to fix what other one screwed up. However when she was trimming skin around my nails it bled in couple of places. I told her to be careful and again no apology. She did not even offered rubbing alcohol to avoid infection. The first time I went in, he left oil on my toenail then painted them and after drying them forever, I left and when I got home, still wet. Second time there, the guy who did my nails was very rude and gave me the ugliest shaped nails, nothing like I wanted. I thought he was going to shape them when he was almost done but he gave me wide, square nails. They are so ugly. Won't be returning back and neither will my siblings. read more

The lady spent way too much time messing around with my nails and it was just unnecessary. It is no surprise they were not busy on a Sunday afternoon, yet owner Kevin did nothing to encourage client satisfaction. Employees were more concerned with watching what was on television than with what was going on with their customers. My service had been paid for in advance (gift certificate) which he would not honor due to it being a few months beyond the expiration date. I've been here for a pedicure three times. The first time I had the deluxe pedicure. The description sheet they gave me said I would get a 15 minute calf massage. I received maybe 2 minutes. Felt very rushed through it. The second time was okay, but they spent about 30 seconds filing my nails so they were rough and not even. After the third time, I found the polish had bubbled up on every toe. I could do a better job than that! The atmosphere is nice, price isn't bad, and it doesn't smell too much like chemicals in there, but unless they improve their quality I won't be back. read more

Two years ago I got a manicure here and the tech was so busy talking to his coworker that he filed my nail so short he filed straight into the skin and it bled. Fast forward to a week later when it's still oozing pus and my whole finger is red and hot. Ownership changed and today I went in for a polish change on my toes and a shellac manicure. The nail tech once again filed my toenail down to the skin and it started bleeding again. This time I made sure to ask for some rubbing alcohol to avoid infection. He put so much polish on my toes that it split when drying. I noticed the cracks in the polish before leaving the store and asked for it to be fixed. I waited for the polish to dry before leaving. By the time I got home my pedicure was cracked again. In regard to the manicure, the shellac was put on unevenly and I can feel bumps in the nail as I type this now. When I first started going to Elegant Nails I loved it! I went to the same girl every time, Cindy. I usually get pink and while gels nails and she was great. She listened to what I wanted, was carefully not to nick my cuticles and was generally on time. Plus the prices were better than most places in Milwaukee! $25 for a fill rather than $35-40. Well as I tried to call two weeks ago for Cindy I was told she was on vacation and they weren't sure if she would be back in 1-2 weeks.....ok weird but oh well I booked another girl to hold me over. EVERY single cuticle was bleeding when I left. She rushed me, and my biggest pet peeve ever, she answered her personal phone while doing my nails. I blew it off and thought next time I'll get Cindy. Well I call again and now they tell me my girl no longer works there and no they won't tell me where she has gone. And when I try to make an appointment with anyone but the girl who made my fingers bleed the man on the phone refuses to tell me who is booked to do my nails, just that I have an appointment. Needless to say I canceled and am now in the search for a new salon. [Wish I could find the salon with Cindy but I don't know her last name:( ] read more

I like the girls that work there but have never walked out of there satisfied. The first time, I asked for gel extensions and got acrylics with shellac. This was before I knew better. Instead of having them taken off, I just continued to have them filled but it was never done really well. Some of the nails were way too thick because they didn't clean out the inside layer and would end up broken as a result. They never clipped my cuticles and always left a pretty big gap at the bottom of the nail so that I would have to come in sooner for a fill. One time, I was cut and burned several times and when I would pull away, the nail tech would say "Oh you're really sensitive today." Not sensitive, just don't like having my skin cut with the file so that I bleed or having it held on my nail for so long that it burns me. After 6 visits and having to have them taken off and completely redone twice in that time, I grew them out and removed them myself. read more

Where do I begin...I made an appointment 3 days in advance. They told me it would take an hour for my shellac mani/regular pedi. Even with the appointment I had to wait at least 10 minutes. 1 hour and 10 minutes in, my finger nails were done but I was still waiting on my toes. I had another appointment after so I had to just get a polish change instead of full pedi. I never did get my massage or lotion or anything on my hands either! While I was getting my nails done, another customer pointed out a mistake on one of her nails and the tech literally walked away and refused to fix it so the guy doing my nails had to leave me and take care of her! Then my guy told me he left because his hands were shaky and he didn't want to make me bleed so he let another lady take over temporarily. I haven't even mentioned yet how I could feel gritty nail shavings on the table when I first put my hands down or how rushed and aggressive the tech was with me (I think he was the manager or owner). I'm sure when they are slow they do a lovely job but clearly they can't handle any kind of a rush and need to work on customer care skills. I won't be back. It took almost an hour and a half for an incomplete service that was only supposed to take an hour. And the guy admitted to shaky hands and the other tech walked away on the job...too bad. Very disappointed. Consistent poor service. The first time I was there, I had an incredible manicure and was treated royal. I later found out the the young man did not work at this salon but was helping out. The owner is a master but he is not consistent and not responsive to his clients. He does nails like no one else... BUT he doesn't have much patience and often hands his work off to someone else who doesn't always have the skills. During my last manicure, my nail bed was pretty bruised. No one seemed concerned. The manager doesn't listen. He doesn't remember appointments he made. He doesn't respond when he is asked questions. When I call to make an apt. he is warm and agreeable but in the store he is distracted and even rude. I don't know why, but I tried going in again this week. Eventhough I made the apt with the manager, he once more forgot. When I attempted to remind him, he seemed surprised but then without a word started to work on someone else's nails without seeing if someone else can do my manicure. The woman he started to work on was embarrassed and asked him to take care of me and that she could wait. He simply did not respond just kept working on her nails.
