I live very close to this nail salon, so I have come a lot in an "emergency" to get my nails or eyebrows done. I've tried to like this place so many times... I have given so many chances; I've easily gotten my nails done here a dozen times. But my recent experience is the LAST straw. About a year ago, I had a dance that I was attending later in the day. I got no chip on my finger nails and regular polish on my toes. I specifically wanted a certain color because I wanted my polish to match my dress. First, they gave me the wrong color that I choose for my no chip. It was a few shades lighter than what I was expecting, but I decided to deal with it as long as my toes were the same color. However, my toes were significantly a different color than my fingers. When I told the lady who was doing my toes, she got anxious and did not even finish painting the top coat before ushering me over to the drying station. She did not do anything to fix them. They were so obviously different colors than even my date noticed... Yesterday, I went to get my eyebrows waxed in an emergency. I've been growing my eyebrows for three years and mostly stay loyal to Dorthy's on Archer. However, since I was in a rush, I decided to come here. It was packed. The owner did my eyebrows. I literally wanted to immediately cry when I saw my eyebrows in the mirror. I asked for a clean up, not my eyebrows to be significantly thinner than they have been in YEARS. When I confronted the owner about my eyebrows, she responded saying "I already took the hair off, so I don't know what you want me to do". I did not get an apology or even some type of discount. Also, the time I got my eyebrows done here before this last time, a part of my eyelid was burnt. I'm in my teens, so I feel like this affects the way the salon treats me, which is unfair. I have just as much money as any customer does; I'm well aware of the prices. I should be treated just as urgently as other customers are. Honestly, if you want to get your nails done, drive out further to another salon or try K's Nails on Archer. For eyebrows, go to Dorthy's. This place is awful. read more

I went in on Memorial Day for a pedicure I sat in the pedicure chair for 30 minutes before I was taking care of then when I did finally get a pedicure and when I was finished I went to let my plush dry and I had 5 min. I was was at Elegant Nails on West 63rd Street in Chicago yesterday. A girl named Mia did my pedicure. and no-chip manicure. I was problematic for her because I kept falling asleep. My mother is home on Hospice. This was the first time I had a minute to myself. I'm depressed and not sleeping well. When I was getting pedicure I kept falling asleep and I'm sure it bothered her because my foot kept dropping. She'd just say I messed up f I did the same with manicure. Mia was very sweet, didn't talk much and was considerate of my sleeping. I think she does excellent work and would recommend her to everyone. However, I'was so embarrassed, I'm not sure if I'd go back. It's because of me, not salon, or staff. I've never been so exhausted that I've fallen asleep before. The only reason I gave Elegant Nails 4 stars is because I feel it's rude not to speak English only if you are working somewhere where most of clientele speaks English. I went there on 7/3 to get no chip Mami and deluxe pedi. Ended up with okay looking nails but weak. I have always alternated between no chip, dip and gel in the past. So I was surprised that my nails were this weak and I asked my technician why she kept using the grinder too much to the point it started to burn. She said it was normal and I guess I thought no beauty comes with no pain right. One day passes and my nail breaks on the side. I called and they told me that they will fix it. I go there two days after due to work issues. I get my nails fixed and they make it a point to tell me I was wrong. I of course had a response to all thier jabs. As soon as I get home, thier "overlay/dip" cracks again in the same spot as before. They're just using cheap products, claiming that it's the person's fault that the nail breaks. Never going to this shady over priced salon again. I'll take my business to D'Luxe Nails where they actually back up their products and last the time they say they do. read more

They do a great job! Really your nails will look beautiful... at a cost. The last time I went in to get a fill in one nail was just about halfway through my nail. I asked if she could just take the rest off and start a new on that one. As she was trying to take off the acrylic on the top part it wouldn't budge. So she proceeded to rip it off (even though I was cringing) and took a chunk of my real nail with it. After that, I was pretty much done with the place. I was always polite and tipped $10 at least when coming in every two weeks. Although I came in for about 8 months straight I still got asked "did you get them done here?" So, I felt like they didn't even care about keeping customers. Not only did I have that one experience, after I started doing my own acrylics I realized how terribly they ruined my nails. As of now you can still see the definitive line where I stopped coming into the salon. TERRIBLE JOB - The owner Lee did a terrible job on my nails. He told me to put my nails under the dryer and immediately went on to his next customer. Once my nails were dry, I was able to see at least one imperfection on every single nail of mine. When I showed his rude wife who sits next to him, she told me to come back on Monday. I told her I can't, so she got a little snippy and asked one of her workers to help me. I will never go here again. On 12/20/2018 went to nail salon for a fill in and a full set for my daughter and I will NEVER go back again! I've been going here on and off for years and can't even believe the quality of work done here! I understand it's Christmas time and they were semi-busy but that is absolutely no excuse to rush through my nails so fast that they are completely disgusting! They actually look worse than before I walked in! The girl was so rude and was mad because my daughter and I picked the same color polish! She was trying to talk me into getting a different "red color" and was telling me there are so many reds to choose from....I kept telling her that I wanted this particular color polish and she rolled her eyes right in front of me because she had to get up to go over to my daughters station to get the polish!! The entire time I was getting this horrible treatment the OWNER was watching the entire time (sitting at the very next station) and I kept looking at him and he knew I wasn't happy and still did not interfere! That is the reason I will never go back! He knew the girl was doing an awful job and was rushing through it and he did nothing about it! This girl was finished completely in less than 15 minutes! Not possible! She barely filed my nails, they are crooked, all different lengths, very bumpy and it doesn't even look like they are filled! Then at the drying station she kicked me out of the chair after 5 minutes and told me my nails are dry and I could leave....my nails were far from being dried! My 17 year old daughter, soon to be 18 went to Elegant this week for eyebrow tinting. My daughter ended up getting waxed (she didnt know what was happening, thought it was part of the tinting process). Her skin was burned off above the eyebrows, so much that she stayed home from school as she was so embarrassed- she has a dance Saturday, which she cannot cover it with makeup as its infected. The owner did not apologize, but simply offered to return the 10 bucks. They should talk to teens about the effects of waxing, ask if they are on medications, etc. Lesson learned, these nail salons are not licensed for waxing- go to an EST. I've been to Elegant a few times, but this is my first time in about a year. Sad to say it will be my last too. While the owner and the salon are nice, the experience I had was less than enjoyable. I had a young male pedicurist who simply pulled and tugged at me. Also, I could be wrong but he had a timer going to ensure he hit the 30 min mark and when he did the pedicure came to an abrupt stop. This is the first time I've actually want the pedicure to end. I was tugged and pulled at throughout my whole manicure as well. The manicurist missed complete edges of my nails and didn't even ask which nail shape I preferred. I ended up with an indistinguishable shape. Ending on an optimistic note, at least the mani-pedi was only $35 read more

The space is nice and clean. But the service is TERRIBLE. I brought family in from LA to get their nails done for a wedding on a Sunday afternoon. It was very slow in the shop and we were in no hurry so we figured it would be fine. There was 5 of us. Four of us getting pedicures and four dip manicures. First: One of the girls changed her mind and decided to get a pedicure while she was getting her regular manicure. Two of the employees (One of them being a manager Cindy) were fighting in English about my niece not telling them beforehand that she wanted a pedicure. Literally arguing "no, you!" and "no, she didn't tell me!". This went on for a good 3 minutes. This was extremely unprofessional. I even stated that to the employee and she laughed it off. There were apparently only two nail techs who do dip. So they were rushing to get us all done. I let the tech know that we were in no hurry so they didn't have to rush. Again, she laughed it off. Second: They have a sign that states "any pedicure service performed under 25 mins will get $10 off, see manager". My sister in law got a pedicure done in literally 15 mins. (She timed it on her phone) There was no way it was 25 min. Again because they were rushing. I let them know and the man that did her pedicure sat there and argued with me. The manager walked away and had nothing to say. When I was up for my pedicure, I noticed she started her timer while she was still preparing all of her instruments and refilling hot towels. So I asked her nicely to restart the timer as she was sitting down. This apparently angered her so instead of sitting, she shut off the timer and went on lunch. As I sat there in now cold water. She took her time to come back to me. She finished with a minute to spare and would not honor the $10 off. If you don't want anyone to get a discount, why put up the sign? This isn't the first time I've had a bad experience at this nail salon and despite the fact that it's so close to home, I think I am going to take my business elsewhere from now on. First and last time here ! Worst $79 spent honestly. Extremely expensive. Nails crooked, rude service, poor manners, and inconsiderate. When I went to get my pedicure done, the nail lady had thought I wanted acrylic for my toes because I don't have a nail on one of my toes and I had told her that I didn't want that and we could just paint over it and she just looked at me, rolled her eyes, and sat down without saying anything and started working on my feet. Pedicure was $28 and I didn't mind because after she was done she kindly apologized for how she acted. They were pretty busy and I understand but there was no need for attitude. Then for my manicure....waste of money seriously. I had tried getting some acrylic French tip with a lavender tip and was in for a rude awakening. I had showed another nail lady what I wanted and she was starting on them. When she got to pushing back my cuticles and filing down and what not she had cut me. First thing she said was "ugh" as if I was bothering her and didn't even say sorry. She made me bleed on both hands and didn't even care to say sorry ! Now mind you, I'm a healthcare worker where I don't have all the knowledge of getting my nails done or get them done often so I'm not familiar with everything with nails but she had asked me what base coat I had wanted and I had said no gel and just a nude should be fine but then she had said something else that I didn't understand. I had told her "I'm sorry I'm not sure what you're saying or what you mean I'm sorry I don't get my nails done often" she then asked me "you don't get them done often" I said "no" ....she then just proceeds to saying "go wash your hands" not even acknowledging anything I said. I come back and she starts doing my nails which were short because I don't like long nails at all and she says that it'll be $75 and I was like $75??? How much are the nails going to be ? She then proceeded to say something about it being a full set and how it's not a regular manicure so I said "I'll just take the nude then sorry" and she just looks at me annoyed and just finishes painting them nude. I had told her that it was my first time here and I was confused on the sign outside of "pedi and mani for $40" and she just says "since they're short I'll charge you only $40 but next time just walk in and say that so it could be easier for us" maybe I'm not familiar with nails but I thought service was terrible and my nails don't look nice at all. The woman doing my nails only trimmed 4 of my toenails, burnt the skin on my feet, and had a terrible attitude- just plain old rude. Overpriced and they don't do a very good job. Went in for a broken nail. The manager... some lady with red hair kept screaming to the guy doing my nail to make sure to charge me for Everything!
