Tina and the ladies at the shop are fantastic! I discovered the salon in Nov 2021. The salon is very clean and they space out clients well, practicing good COVID safely measures. I usually get gel mani/pedi's and have walked out very happy every time. The nail technicians are gentle, very detailed, and take their time to make sure clients are satisfied. I've visited several other nail shops in the area and one of the things that distinguishes my experience here is how friendly and welcoming they are, in addition to the great work. Bonus: they're open through the early evening hours (not common in this area) which is so convenient for a weekday post-work appointment. I have been coming to this salon since 2013. I really like Tina and her team and they do a great job! However, today I had a pedicure and as they were filling the tub with water and were right there watching while filling it with my feet were in the tub , the water was way too hot and burned me. Not once but twice. As they were filling it and then when they adjusted it when I complained; it was still way too hot. They weren't checking the temperature at all to see if it was comfortable for their client. Their excuse was "we don't know if the water will come out hold or cold" but they were not at all preemptive about the temperature of the water for their customer and it was scalding hot. The owner, Tina, must have heard my screams (it was that hot) but did not come over to see what was happening and did not mention it. I let it go, but I'm having reservations about returning to Elegant Nails, even though I really like them. I just want better service than that. read more

Sadly I feel I have to update my review. While I still feel Tina and Yan are amazing, they have hired someone else who is beyond terrible! I have been coming here every 3 weeks. Last two times I have gotten this newish girl. She was sloppy on my pedi, didn't even get polish on parts of the nail and filed it uneven. Considering it was my toes I wasn't to picky, I mean who looks that closely at your toes anyway? This last time for a mani I got her again. I can only assume this girl is in training because she clearly didn't have a clue what to do. They kept telling her what she was doing was wrong while she was working on me. By the end of it I left with uneven, scratchy, badly filed nails (that I had to refile to smooth them out when I got home), gel all over my cuticles and fingers, bumps in the gel AND you can still see some of the white from the previous time she didn't get off. It's only been 4 days and the gel is already peeling at the base of some nails. Really, really disappointed. Looks like I'll be looking for another nail salon because its just not worth the risk of getting this girl again and wasting my money :( read more

I would like to start with saying that I am EXTREMELY picky with who does my nails. I have been to many nail salons, but there are only three I trust -- and this is one of them (if you're curious, the other two are located in Concord and Redondo Beach. I have not reviewed them yet). My quest to find one in the Peninsula was a bit challenging, but after asking an acquaintance of mine where she gets her nails done (her nails were exactly what I wanted: Natural looking and a thin acrylic layer), I had to go. Needless to say I feel like in hit the nail jackpot with Tina. Tina's hella chill and easy to talk to. Plus her staff is pretty cool; they're not rude have any passive-agressive tendencies like many nail salon employees out there. The only complaint I have is one employee that stares at me in a manner that makes me feel uncomfortable. However, as a person who likes giving second chances, I went there for the second time only to find myself disappointed again. On my first visit, the manicurist cut my cuticle until it bleed. I went in for a fill and two tips since I was going to an event, and didn't want to show up with my horrendous, grown-out nails with two broken ones.... So, I make an appointment with Yen. I believe she's worked on my nails before. I remember her being rough but not like this time. Mind you, a big group came in shortly after I arrived. This could explain why she was rushing & impatient, but I was paying for a service too & needed her expertise, not a crappy nail job. You be the judge.... When I arrived I was pretty happy that there were only two other clients there. I was certain Yen could focus on me & hook a girl up! Well, I endured pain from extremely rough & vigorous filing with the mechanical file & the hand-held file. I asked her to please be gentle as my nails are very thin. She ackowleged my concern, but continued to torture me a handful more times! OUCH is not a good thing to be yelping in a nail salon. When I asked her to make sure to gently file the old polish away completely as I wanted a French maincure & it would show through if it wasn't all removed, she assured me it will not show, and she'd take it all off. She seemed irritated that I was advising her, I guess. She also left my middle very crooked so I pointed it out. She filed it super lightly not even changing it's shape. Guess she lost energy from sawing my fingers away... So I politely asked if she cam straighten it out like the other nails (I mean, really??? Must I explain that one nail shouldn't be left as a dagger). She said, "That's just your finger." OK last time I checked my fingers are not crooked... I asked her again & she sighed & barely fixed it. The two tips she added to my broken nails were shorter than my other nails... But I didn't even point that out. When it was time for color I wanted a French manicure with creamsicle orange tips. When I asked for her glitter selection, she seemed irritated. She brought out the box full of glitter, insisting that polish "is better." I asked that she do a little something with glitter so my nails wouldn't be so boring (kinda like this review), so she added a little on the tips but she applied it so there was barely any on my nails! I asked her to add a little more, so like a peach, she decided to put BLOBS of it on with clear polish instead of the glitter brush she was using. I had mountains of glitter on each nail & she was brushing it on so fast. They wouldn't even dry under the lights!!! When they finally did, she whipped out a gooey top coat- liquid gel, and again applied BLOBS of it on each nail. And that was it!!!! She told me to dry my nails. She proceeded to start on the pedicure on one of the ladies who was waiting for her. So when I realized that my nails weren't drying, I look at my thumb & the gel was bubbling. I told Tina that they were bubbling. Tina tells Yen something in their native tongue & Yen walks over to me & says they need alcohol. She got a towel with alcohol & scrubbed my nails with it quickly & put oil on them...SERIOUSLY DISCUSTED that she handled my nails like that after touching someone's feet. Gross!!! I paid and left. They appeared nice and shiny, very square and glistening, but they weren't. I notice that they are COMPLETELY lopsided, bumpy, and my nails were still hurting & sensitive from her filing. WTF??? I called and spoke to Tina because I know she owns the shop & I let her know that I was disappointed with my visit and the result of my nails were hideous, and because I'm stuck with lopsided nails, I requested a full refund. Tina offered to fix them, but I asked her how she would fix the fact that the old polish is showing? I couldn't take anymore filing whatsoever & I was just done!! I asked if I could please just get a refund. Yen walked up to the counter & said something to Tina in their native tongue & I'm sure it was something super nice about me. I told her they are bumpy & the old polish is showing. Tina then said, "It's just your nail." And there you have it. The reason why I do not feel bad at all about getting a full refund. My crooked fingers just always have old nail polish on them that are magically permanently there. WOW!!! Congratulations on your wonderful customer service. Continue to blame your clients. I should have gone to my regular, amazing, sweet nail lady in San Francisco & believe me she will cringe at the sight of my nails when I go to her to fix... NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

I had high hopes for this place from reading the yelp reviews but am kind of disappointed. I got a French manicure on my natural nails for $13. The staff was friendly, but I wasn't very impressed with the manicure. There are so many bubbles in the top coat that it appears roughly textured. I guess it looks ok from far away, though. The nail area in shop is kind of dirty too. ( I know I'm picky.) In summary, it's cheap, and you get what you pay for. The positives are that they take credit cards and walk-ins. read more
