The first visit was great! Friendly and took her time. This time however, not so much. Very rushed and $50 (with tip) later, I'm now having to go somewhere else to have it fixed. A weed whacked could have done a better job. I called to see if I could have it fixed but the receptionist seemed very uninterested and after talking to the stylist, my options were very limited. 8/14/2014 Element 54 is a wonderful salon that treats you like family. They creat a comfortable environment for not only me, but for my 2 young children when they need to join me for my appointment. From the moment you enter the salon you are always made to feel like you are home being offered a beverage, which includes from soda to wine, as well as a yummy treat. Kristen Davis is one of their top stylists. She has been cutting my hair for several years and I am so happy that I was able to join her and her new family now at Element 54. She knows exactly what is best for my hair type and never makes me feels uncomfortable when discussing options. I recently moved to the Land O Lakes/Lutz area from Indiana, where I had a trusted stylist for my fine, thinning hair for over 20 years. One of my biggest challenges after relocating was to find someone who could maximize the appearance of my hair, especially in the humid climate of Florida. After trying another salon a few times, I decided to call Element 54 Salon, where I requested an experienced stylist. I found her! I was so relieved to receive the attentive services of Shanda, and I hope she remains at this location for as long as I need haircuts, styling, highlights, and color -- forever! I have never had anyone devote the amount of time which Shanda did, to listen to my hair history, my needs, my desired appearance. She exemplified the perfect combination of allowing my input, while using her professional knowledge and expertise to cut my hair in a style which is perfect for me! I love it! I left the salon feeling so much better about myself. The receptionist who greeted me with my choice of beverage set the tone as I entered the salon, and the entire experience was a pleasant one. Had a spiral perm done today with Andrea...perm was fine, problem was, I came in a couple of days earlier for a consult and explained I wanted a perm and a trim was given the price of $150-$200 depending on how many rods were used. After completed she charged me $345 dollars. $300 for the perm and $45 for the trim. Almost double the quoted price is ridiculous not to mention $45 dollars for the trim after. Been getting perms for over 30 yrs, never have I paid for the trimming of the ends after it before, it literally took her all of 5 mins to trim bottom and bangs and charged $45! Don't like someone trying to seriously over charge me....won't be going back!!! read more

The entire staff is highly trained and qualified. The management has the eye for choosing only the best. I live in Winter Park, FL and I make the 2 hour drive to see Shanda for my all of my hair related needs (color, cuts, Keratin treatments & product recommendations). She's very talented and skilled. She LISTENS, understands and knows what to do with the information you gave her, to give you the results you expected. Shanda keeps up with all the trends in the industry and is not just a great hairstylist but a superb one! I've had many bad experience at OTHER salons but NOT this one. I tried this salon based upon the reviews of yelp - sadly, they were a huge disappointment. The location is okay, the atmosphere is decent and average for a salon (not upscale). Staff is friendly, but clearly inexperienced. I have long layered hair and over the years have learned that some hairdressers do not know how to properly cut it (some think it is as simple as chopping a couple of inches off and letting it go). I had not had an experience like that in over 20 years until coming to Element 54. My entire haircut took 10 minutes - whereas usually it takes 35-45 minutes when done properly. It may be lack of experience by the technician, but when I commented on the expediency I was met with a response of nothing more than a smile - no effort to inquire as to why I was obviously displeased or try to put forth more effort. If I wanted a low quality trim I could have gone to a chain salon and not paid $44. Sadly now I will resume my search for a high quality salon that knows the specifics of how to provide professional service to longer hair customers. read more

I tried this salon for the first time. It's small, but nice. The stylist was 10 minutes late, not a big deal.. I know that is not abnormal for many stylists. I'm used to my hair appointments taking 45 minutes to an hour. This visit from start to finish was 25 minutes. That included a consultation, wash, cut, dry, and style. The stylist spent 5 minutes (if that) on cutting. While I was sitting there, her next client arrived and she was having another stylist help get her started. I hadn't even been with her for 10 minutes, so clearly there was not appropriate time allotted for clients. The bummer part is, the areas she did take time to actually cut came out really good. . I just feel it's incomplete. I feel very conflicted as to whether to return or not. One one hand, if she actually takes the appropriate time to work on my hair it may be great (but are all the visits rushed?) and on the other hand, do I want to return to someone that would not give 100% to a first time client? This is a great salon to go to if you want your face painted. Decided to give Element 54 salon a try after noticing how nice the salon is on the inside, despite it being completely empty with no other customers (I now wonder why). With high end salon prices, one would expect the service to match. After getting my hair colored the darkest shade of black, I also had the pleasure of getting the invisible peach fuzz on the side of my face and cheek colored the same dark shade of black. The stylist, Alex, left the large amount of color on the side of my face long enough for it to process and dye the hairs, leaving me with no choice but to remove them once I got home. I did not have my glasses on the entire time I was getting my hair done, so I could not see what was happening at all. However, when she was washing the color out of my hair, she made another failed attempt at wiping the already processed color off my face (yet leaving my hair line and nape of neck untouched) and added "I really messed you up", while giggling. I smiled and nicely asked how bad it was and she told me not that bad. It must have been bad enough for the receptionist to look at me funny when I paid as I was leaving. I got to my car and looked in the mirror and could not believe I just paid $130 with tip to have my skin dyed, and cant help but feel like the stylist and the receptionist were having a laugh back inside the salon. I can even get over the fact that my hair turned out to be not exactly what I had originally wanted color wise, but to pay $113 for a simple haircut and color that I could do better, and have done better myself, is just outrageous. There are A LOT better salons out there that do not charge nearly as much. I STRONGLY advise anyone looking to try out a new salon to NOT go here. My mom also spoke to the manager about what had happened, and she expectedly took the side of her clearly untrained employee and did not offer any sort of refund. read more

Had a perm done that obviously didn't take. I asked the stylist what she thought and she said I wasn't using the right products on my hair. A month later I went back and talked to the owner. She also said I probably wasn't styling my hair correctly. Now I 'm out $120.00 and have straight hair. (I've had numerous perms in the past and never had to use the "right" products for my hair to be curly--I fact it was impossible to make my hair straight) read more
