I had the joy of discovering I locked my keys in my car on a Sunday morning. My joy was tripled when I realized I left my spare key in a different state (I just moved to Seattle). Since it was a Sunday, all of the nearby places were closed (I'm in Shoreline). I saw Element had great reviews, so I gave them a call. The guy who came out was really friendly and had my car door opened quickly. The only thing thing was that it was pretty pricey. To be fair, he came all the way to Shoreline and he was really efficient. Also, I don't know what comparable rates in the area are since I'm new here, although in my home state I once had a locksmith unlock my car for $30, which is probably much lower than average. Bottom line: great service, efficient and fast. The only downside was the price. I suggest if you are a grad student like me, or just living on a tighter budget, call around to get quotes first. Make sure the quotes include any charge for travel. If budget isn't as much of a concern, call these guys. read more

When I lost my keys a few months ago, I panicked. I'm really glad I know about Yelp. I chose Element based upon the very high praise of other Yelpers. I should mention first that I tried to pick the ignition lock with a paper click, and it ruined the ignition. Embarrasing, I know. Anyway, he arrived very, very fast, and installed a new ignition and cut and programmed 2 microchipped keys for me in an unbelievably short amount of time. Other Seattle locksmiths I called (I'm cheap, I called a lot) wanted twice as much money for the same service. He was very professional, and took time to explain to me why a paperclip will never, ever start a vehicle with a microchipped key :) If I ever need locksmith services again, there is no question I will go with these guys. Avoid this guy - they are up to no good! - The owner going by the name Yonee or Yani charged me for new parts (as shown on invoice) but the parts using heavily used / salvaged parts from what looks like was a junkyard. I contacted him about this discrepancy to which he said I was mistaken -then he had an "oh yeah - I may have used salvaged parts....admitting this factor - but then began tried offering me a discount for 'as-is' work - When I refused asking for brand new parts to be used he told me he had no memory of me as a customer and that I would need to go through his lawyer which he said he would deny ever doing services for me -- clearly he is about games, shortcuts as a businessman while lacking ethics as a provider of security. I will be filing a lawsuit against them. read more

I lost my motorcycle key. I was told i'd "have to take the ignition cylinder out" to get a key made. The first locksmith I called who had mobile service told me he could be over in an hour--at a cost of $350. Another quoted $230. Finally I got ahold of Element. They wouldn't quote me a price over the phone, but I figured I had to have the key made anyway, at any cost. The guy who came over, Roy, decoded my ignition and made me two keys, all in about half an hour. Very friendly guy. Total cost $160. read more

I unfortunately lost my backpack which had my only set of car keys in it. I called up Element Locksmith/Yoni on Friday afternoon and got a very nice competitive quote over the phone. We set up an appointment within a few hours and he even called me an hour before the appointment time to confirm. He showed up to my apartment on time and was very professional and timely in his work. You can tell he is very experienced at his job and knows what he's doing. Since I was missing my car manual, we had to download a new set of keycodes online and program the key appropriately, which was done without any issues. After he completed making the key, we tested everything out which worked perfectly and even provided a extra key for the car doors. I definitely appreciated how quickly he was able to show up to my place and I would definitely recommend Yoni for any other key work needed for houses and apartments. I called Element Locksmith for an emergency re-key for my house at 2pm on Dec 24, fully expecting an extra holiday fee, if I could even get them to come out. They were to my house in Renton within 15 minutes and the re-key was done within an hour of my initial call. The final price was exactly what he estimated over the phone, and it was completely reasonable.
