Great coffee. They are clearly coffee purist, meaning they don't have a large menu of flavored lattes and Frappuccinos. They have great pastries. I absolutely love their chocolate chip cookies. They have a biscuit type of texture. Probably wouldn't be the best place to study, but good to catch up with a friend. Has an industrial look. Be sure to check 'em out. This non-coffee drinker has become a regular customer at Elemental Coffee and when I say regular, I mean I go there 2 - 3 times a week. In the past 6 days, I have been there 4 times but this has been an unusual week. I am sure they have wonderful coffee for those who like it but I only drink water there so I will leave the coffee for others to review. It is the food that draws me to Elemental Coffee. Elena Farrar joined Elemental Coffee to start their food service (breakfast and lunch plus baked goods and to-go items in the deli case). She told me she fixes food there the same way she eats herself. I am a big fan of her and her food. When she was at the Wedge, she got a life-long brussel sprouts hater (me) to not only eat brussel sprouts but to love them, much to the astonishment of my mother! I started with the brussel sprouts salad at the Wedge and then she recommended I try the roasted brussel sprouts with hazelnuts at Kitchen 324 and I loved those too. But now I digress - no more on the brussel sprouts but I wanted you to know why I trust Elena's judgement. She has never steered me wrong. I am not an early morning person so I have never made it to Elemental for breakfast or weekend brunch. I have heard good things and seen some amazing pictures but you will have to judge for yourself. I go for lunch or to get something to go from the deli case. They have hot items made to order for lunch from 11 am - 2 pm. There is no "regular" menu. Some days, but not all, they post the day's offerings on social media - Twitter and Facebook. If you haven't seen the choices, you can look on the table to the left after you enter the front door or up at the counter where you order to see the choices. When they sell out of something, they cross it off the list. The food at Elemental Coffee uses lots of fresh and local ingredients. They have many options for vegetarians, vegans & those following a gluten-free diet but don't let that scare you! They have plenty of "normal" items too for carnivores and those who wouldn't dream of eating anything vegan or gluten-free, like my husband. I could have given him the lunch I had today and he would have eaten and enjoyed it if I didn't tell him that the local apple Waldorf salad was actually vegan. It was delicious! I had one of the grilled sandwiches that fortunately shows up frequently because it is one of my favorites. They call it C'est La Brie - it's ham, Brie cheese and the ingredient that gives it a special flavor is fig preserves. It is not vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free but it is delicious. After placing your order & paying, take a seat at the bar, at one of the long community tables (where I usually sit), at one of the smaller tables, or sit outside if the weather is nice. You can use their free Wifi while you wait for your food. There are always lots of people there who are working, studying & having small meetings. It's a good place to see and meet in person lots of people from the metro area. When your food is ready, they will call your name and you go pick it up around the cash register. After you eat, you do need to bus your own table. Take your tray over to the kitchen area where you will find a place to leave your dirty dishes and cloth napkin. The deli case usually has several types of pre-made cold sandwiches. I have tried and liked most of them. I had never tried curry chicken before but after finding out that it was very mild but very flavorful, I gave it a try and loved it! It is usually on a special bread but I can't remember if it's called country or mountain. Whatever it's called, it's delicious! The lemon dill hummus with radish and cucumber is awesome too. I even tried the mock "tuna" which is actually made with garbanzo beans (but chunkier than hummus) - also good. I haven't tried their actual tuna sandwich. There are always several types of seasonal salads. The watermelon, fennel, cucumber salad was the best - both savory & sweet! My husband is a huge watermelon fan & I am sure he would love it too. There are usually yogurt parfaits in the case and sometimes you will find a piece of quiche leftover from breakfast. The other day there was apple pie. Chocoholics take notice that there are always salted chocolate chip cookies up at the register. There are usually at least a couple of kinds of muffins - some regular, some vegan, some gluten-free. I have tried many and like most but some definitely more than others. Yesterday I got a banana blueberry muffin - really good! I think Ashely mentioned the "It's a Date Bar" & I agree that was amazing! I have not seen it since but am keeping my eyes open. I have tried a couple of scones recently. The lemon poppyseed was not overly sweet and you could definitely taste the lemon. After the recent 6 Degrees of Bacon, I got one of Elemental Coffee's rosemary bacon scones. If there's better coffee in OKC, I have not been exposed to it. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. High points: * They roast their own beans, and it's not an overstatement to append the words "to perfection." I went through a two-month period when I was too broke to buy beans there and I nearly died of sadness. * They brew using the "pour-over" method--I don't know if that's the name of the method, or if it has a name, but that's what I'm calling it, due to the manner in which they "pour" water heated to a precise temperature (195-205 degrees) "over" a precise measure of grounds (are you getting the name thing yet?) to make precisely the amount of coffee you ordered. As such, your cup of coffee could not possibly be any fresher when you get it, unless you were to directly milk the coffee cow into your mouth, which would be gross, and uncomfortable for the cow. * Their main room is calm and relaxing. For one, it's mostly glass, and is across the street from a large-ish green space with some sculpture on it, which is always nice. For another, the atmosphere is indeed pleasantly minimal: Concrete floor, brick/white walls, several long stainless steel tables to semi-communally sit at. Mainly it's peaceful because it's not packed with people working on laptops, because they don't have wi-fi. This has caused me to not linger at least once, but I understand and respect their decision. [UPDATE: There is now wi-fi. I still respect their decision.] * Their baristas (seems like that should be "baristo" if it's a dude, but whatever) have always been friendly with me. Probably because I pepper them with questions about brewing methods and am frankly kind of a coffee-shop fanboy, but whatever, they were nice to me. As a postscript: I only put cream and sugar in my coffee if it's undrinkable otherwise, so I've never gotten the stinkeye for doing so at a place like this. I understand people like what they like, and black coffee isn't everyone's cup of black coffee. That said, I imagine that putting as much obsessive detail as they do into making a cup of coffee, and then watching someone render it unrecognizable with sweetener and creamer, would be sort of like cooking a Kobe filet for someone and then hearing them demand some A-1 sauce for it. Elemental Coffee is a good coffee shop but it is not the place for everyone. I think that they roast good coffee and have some good food but the thing you need to understand about Elemental is that they are a high end gourmet coffee shop. They roast the coffee's a bit blonde for my taste and yes my taste is a bit warped by the overly dark roast you get at Starbucks but again, I like my roasts a bit darker than they roast. They go through a lot of detail and do a pour over for each cup so your coffee is going to be about the freshest cup you have ever had and will not contain any of the bitterness you might experience from other roasts and methods of preparation. My personal preference is for a medium roast in a french press and you are not afforded the option to get that kind of coffee here. Also, the seating is very trendy and all benches and tables and not as comfortable as a lot of coffee shops. I need a back on a chair once in a while!!I think that they have these benches so you will not hang out all day as they are way too uncomfortable to sit on for more than thirty minutes. I'm a long-time fan and truly love this place. Sometimes it gets a little too busy for my liking, but you can't fault a place for being successful. The staff is amazing and even if they're slammed, they are never too busy to smile or say hello. I love their Chai Tea Lattes, but add a shot of espresso and it just makes me swoon. They have some killer food and are always trying new and fun things, so don't miss out on the muffins or cookies by the counter. There is just something so special about this place. Dear Elemental Coffee, God called. She wants her cold brew back. For coffee aficionados, Elemental Coffee has two things that are particularly savory. First is the house-made Purusha roast. Elemental describes this roast as a superhero--encompassing both balance and power. I prefer to simply describe it as the best cup of joe offered in Oklahoma City. The second particularly impressive thing about Elemental is their cold brew. If you are familiar with "iced coffees," get ready to never enjoy them again. Instead of a regularly-brewed coffee chilled down and poured over ice, Elemental's cold brew is traditionally steeped for up to 12 hours with a process that requires no heat. The end result is a coffee with a different chemical make up that gives a truly out-of-this-world flavor and really packs a punch. read more

I have been meaning to check this place out for too long. Originally, one of the owners told me that their plan was to not have wi-fi because they wanted to "foster community and the love of coffee" so I decided to go there yesterday when I was in desperate need of getting my book done and the idea of not having access to internet was finally attractive but alas, they caved. Not only do they have wi-fi but they have amazing light and big wide benches to sit on, super friendly staff and a cold brew that makes my regular iced Americanos seem like convenient store coffee. This place reminds me of Stumptown in Portland or my favorite coffee shop in Seattle, Victrola. Super laid back, hipster friendly but not pretentious and stunning coffee. I like the way the bench set up allows for talking to people you know but still gives enough space to enjoy your brew or get some work done. Also, I like that they don't leave the milk out on the bar for it to get warm. They get it out for you to use and then put it back. I guess I could see how this would be a problem if it was really busy but when I was there, they had a steady flow of traffic in and out and still managed to give each person plenty of attention. I think Oklahoma just needs to get used to serious coffee joints. When I go to Starbucks, I have to specify every detail of the way I want my drink and then when I go to a gourmet spot like this, they look at me, like "yeah, we know." read more

Elemental was my favorite local shop for many years, but sadly, that's all over now. Two weekends in a row my order was misplaced or forgotten or just never actually written down. I hate being the person who has to go back up and interrupt what the employees are doing to say, "oh, um, I ordered a cold brew and I think it got lost..." THANKFULLY both weekends the person I talked to was very nice and quick to deliver my order but I know that won't always be the case. How do I know? Well, there are really only 3 or 4 people who work there that are at all pleasant to interact with. One girl only works weekends and I actually look forward to seeing her when I go in because she is SO friendly and welcoming. I wish I knew her name but really, with that description, she's not hard to spot. Not only has my order been "misplaced" one too many times but I've also bit into a under-baked pastry five too many times... I'm not even joking. I don't know why I keep ordering muffins and scones when I'm 98% sure it isn't going to be fully baked. I tell myself, hey, it's hard to make vegan and gluten free pastries but MAYBE they figured it out this time. I'm disappointed every time and end up throwing out most of my $4 food item. Oh, and I should add that maybe 70% of the time I order a pastry I feel like I'm annoying the person taking my order. I guess I should just stick to coffee. Let me be clear- the coffee at Elemental is FANTASTIC. Really, you won't find a better cup in all of OKC. However, I can take a two minute drive over to Coffee Slingers and still get a great cup of coffee and way better service. What? Coffee Slingers has better service?? That seems almost like a joke given their long-standing reputation for having abysmal service. It seems like they've finally figured out that customers don't need much, they just need you to not make them feel stupid. They've really stepped up their customer service game. I decided to check out Elementals website to see what their official views (if any) on customer service are. Here's what I found: "We are a community-driven company dedicated to producing the finest coffee while providing our customers with the best service imaginable." This doesn't even make sense to me. Do their employees know that the owners want to provide customers with "the best service imaginable"??? Is there any sort of training around this idea? Do they even know what customer service is? Like I said, they have 3 or 4 really friendly people working for them but honestly I think they just got lucky with those hires. Those people are naturally friendly. I love them all but unfortunately there are other people working there... I guess I'm going to Slingers from now on... *Elemental does have AMAZING food options (other than the muffins or scones) and their coffee is fantastic. I've waited years for the perfect coffee shop to open in Oklahoma City, and now everrrrytime I'm in Elemental in the morning I'm like, "why am I not here every morning?!" (Usually because my husband makes an Elemental Cortado and Coffee for me at home most days of the week) I also like the food they have on hand, nothing over the top, but everything is done well and simply. The baristas are always friendly. I love sitting at the bar and watching as they make coffee. There coffee is strong and flavorful, sometimes I'm a wimp I have to add a little milk because it's boldness punches me in the face. Elemental Coffee is one of OKC's best coffee shops. It also has some delicious brunch items. I like to go there after 11 on a weekday. The breakfast burritos are half price at that point in the day. I also enjoy studying and reading at the shop. They have great pour-over options to enjoy, and large windows which allow in quite a bit of light. I went into here twice, hoping that my first experience was fluke, but sadly, my second experience was the same. Unfriendly staff, no one smiled and very minimal interaction. I had an iced latte, and tried a piece of poblano and jalapeno quiche. The latte was delicious, and the quiche was ok, no spice and nothing special. After I was done with the quiche, I asked the barista where she wanted me to leave the fork i had just used-she rolled her eyes and said, "i'll just take it.." I bought a bag of beans to take home. I appreciate the work that was put into it by our local roasters there in the shop. I also love that they take the keep it local card and offer a free drink with purchase of bag of beans, or 5% off your drink without bag of beans purchase. If you love local coffee shops that have stellar coffee, a great menu, and a cozy atmosphere, then this is your place. I wandered in one day after daily mass with a friend and decided on the cold brew with the Bree sand which. First off, the coffee was so robust and full bodied that I almost moaned out loud! Let's just say, I'll never go back to Starbucks ever again. So good and roasted to perfection. You must try it. Yum! Second, the sand which had the same effect, although I did actually moan out loud because it was SO yummy! Thick cut ham, melted Bree, with apricot marmalade. This coffee shop surprised me. The more I go, the more they seem to offer. My husband and I went a for a long walk one weekend morning and got really hungry. We were gonna stop by here for something warm to drink on our way to a breakfast place till we noticed them making crepes! There was a sweet one and a savory one being offered, so we tried one of each. The last time I was there, I bought one of their cookies by the register and also fell in love with those. I hope they expand soon, because when I have gone it's been a little bit packed with everyone sitting a communal tables. They offer wifi and outlet plugs, which is still a plus. Love this hipster coffee joint with its contemporary layout and wholesome ingredient approach! I had an iced mocha which was made with a higher cacao chocolate I think (making it more natural but a little more on the bitter side than what I am used to. I still enjoyed it! There was plenty of caffeine in it too (I felt it pumping through my blood on my drive back to Dallas). If you love checking our various local coffee houses, this is a great stop that is very popular with locals (especially if you are a coffee connoisseur who loves pour over style). Elemental is pretty stark inside but the coffee more than makes up for it. I should say that I am a Seattle transplant and Elemental goes toe to toe with any coffee establishment in the Emerald City... At Elemental, they roast their own coffee so everything is super fresh. They also make really good crepes both sweet and savory. I usually order a dry cappuccino and it is luscious...rich, deep coffee with just the right amount of milk. Elemental is fresh roasted coffee prepared by people who take their work and product serious. They roast their own coffee giving them an edge too. If Folgers and other store bought coffee is your world, that's okay, but you're missing out on what coffee is intended to be! Elemental makes the best cup of coffee in Oklahoma City! Having enjoyed coffee from Coffee Slingers, Evoke, and Elemental; Elemental produces hands down the best coffee of the three shops (YES, I know Evoke is in Edmond but whatever :) -- AND maybe the best cup of coffee in Oklahoma. (I enjoy their hand brewed coffee better than Double Shot and Topeca in Tulsa too). Give them more time as craftsmen and I believe they will excel for years unless "The mass produce make more money bug" infects them. The espresso is really good and will not disappoint. I can not give them the best espresso in the state award however. Coffee Slingers and Evoke are tied for that title! Their customer service is good. The baristas are knowledgable, helpful, and produce good work. I found them friendly and engaging. They are willing to discuss their work. The environment is good and a great place to work for an hour while you enjoy their coffee. My one criticism of the shop comes with their blinds in the morning. Too much direct sunlight to the eyes making it somewhat unpleasant to sit there. If you're looking for the "best" coffee experience in OKC metro area, Evoke has the slight edge on atmosphere . . . please note a "slight" edge. Can't say I am an expert in OKC coffee houses, but I am pretty certain the quality of coffee and espresso drinks are the best by a wide margin. The cold brew, espresso and single origins satisfies with excellent flavors from fresh beans roasted in-house. This no-frills spot also has a good selection of brunch dishes and pastries. Coffee is one of those things I want to really get good at, simply because I want the ability to look at a cup of black and say something along the lines of "I like this depth of color, but I enjoy more cloudiness." I kid about this pretension, but I do want to be a coffee snob one of these days. That being said, I love shooting out of my league when I find some craft roasters in a new city. It is almost the same excitement when I find a really good local brewery in a large city--specifically, one with a great vibe and staff. Sourcing out some true hipster stuff is always exciting. I am no hipster, but I love to dig into their digs. This micro-roasting joint, fixed on micro-lot also doubles up as a pretty solid coffee shop, without a lot of hustle and bustle in the neighborhood. Being tucked into a little strip on Hudson outside of the downtown business (not that the city gets TOO busy, me coming from Dallas and all), it is relaxed and inviting. I had a cup of the Groove, and it boasted fruity character with a slight note of crispness. There is no doubt that they are doing a fine job in providing the humble city of OKC with fantastic cups o' joe. Came here to hang out and get some black coffee and was surprised at how good it was. My wife and I ordered one coffee to share and the barista served it to us in two smaller cups, which I thought was really great customer service since we didn't even ask for that. I think it was like $3.50 for the coffee which is high, but it was really great potent coffee. This is the perfect place to hang out and do school work, or to just kick it with friends. There is a bike rental station right outside, and a parking lot. I seem to remember them playing good music. read more

I love this place. I'm guilty of being a Starbucks girl and used to my sugary sweet coffee drinks, but the staff here is so friendly and helpful. I asked if there was any flavoring to add to my latte, and he told me all they had was simple syrup and mocha syrup. I ordered it plain and he said the simple syrup makes it a bit sweeter, so I went with that and loved it! I feel like sometimes nice coffee shops can have a pretentious staff, and Elemental isn't like that at all. It's also a great place for a small meeting or study session. I came to this place to get a cup of latte after a long day at work and this lady served me in a really "nice" way！！ She not only ignored my name and called something else, but also was rude to me when I tried to correct her pronunciation. Her attitude was overall like I wasn't welcomed there and stared at me like I am an enemy. I should thank her to let me realize that I shouldn't be here at all. I don't have any reason to take her shitty attitude at all. Element coffee shop, I can guarantee you that you will not see me at your shop anymore!
