Eh. We still come here, but don't look forward quite as much. Nothing stays the same these days; just a shame changes are rarely for the better. I miss the French ambiance of the old days. Most often now, Sunday breakfast here is accompanied by too-loud chaotic club music - leftover from Saturday night I suppose. Staff doesn't seem to mind or notice, and after having asked for sugar, pepper, a few other amenities, I didn't want to keep on being "that" person. Just wish the obvious little things that make a meal out pleasant - like relaxing music - would be as obvious to those who run a place. read more

The crab cakes were decent but it tasted similar to the frozen ones I can get at a grocery store. The beef wellington was not what I expected and it was a bit underwhelming. The best part of the meal was the sticky toffee pudding dessert with vanilla ice cream, but it was overpriced at $10 for one dessert. This is a small restaurant in a boutique hotel. The hostess could not find my reservation but fortunately had a table . My friend and I went for brunch and there is a big variety of brunch foods and drinks. I had the crab cake sliders they were a little dry but good flavor with the truffle fries . I'm not sure if it's required but didn't make a difference as our seats were in a bad spot. A shared booth back with table & chair. When asking for a new table, the hostess seemed confused & not that helpful. We were then seated at a little table near a door to the outside & it was cold out. Which I was reminded ever so often of from the air hitting my back. We told the restaurant it was our anniversary, so I was surprised they didn't attempt to give us an intimate spot. Our server did give us free dessert, which was unexpected. I noticed the hostess saved a more intimate table for what appeared to be friends. She visited them often, laughing & carrying on. She told my spouse the table wasn't available when he asked about it. I thought maybe it wasn't available because it was a booth & being saved for a larger party, but NOPE! Just her 2 "friends"...2 people just like my spouse & I. The server was awesome. Very friendly, checked on us, and gave recommendations. He actually led us to try another restaurant in the Asian District for a specific dish we were looking for. Other things happened but these stood out the most. Overall, I'm not coming back, & I don't recommend it. The food was ok. Not blown away, but you could tell it was fresh. It's not worth what we experienced for the price $250+. We've had two terrific visits over the past few weeks, each with different friends. The 10-Hour braised short ribs are the hands-down favorite. They are tender beyond belief and so flavorful. The chicken ballotine was my choice on a visit and was an unusual but delicious pairing. I'd easily order it again. I can't say that I'll have the gnocchi again. I kept adding salt and pepper but never had a satisfactory bite. Everything else has been a ten out of ten. They have two bar areas if you're just looking for a drink. However, you can't go wrong with the fried green tomatoes or the Beef Wellington Bites. The later is a fun spin on a classic dish and an unexpected delicious treat. Overall was a little disappointed with trying the Chalkboard for the first time. We had reservations for a Thursday night for two, and instead of being seated in the main part of the restaurant in a fun booth, we were lead to the back to a small rickety table - they had to bring out something to make the table stop rocking. The restaurant is super cute so we wish we could have sat in the main dining area - the tables were empty and most stayed empty all night. Drinks were great, we had the beef Wellington bites to start and those were good. We were given an amuse bouche of chicken salad on crostinis. Very good and I do not even like chicken salad. The good kinda stopped there. I had the duck, which was fine but not very flavorful. Added the crispy brussel sprouts and those were great. But the four cheese empanadas that came with duck were not good, too heavy for a duck dish. Partner had the pork, which was fine but not anything special. The fingerling potatoes were flavorless and dry. It was my birthday so I chose their crème brûlée for dessert. It was not good at all. It was very rubbery and had an eggy texture. Service was good. While most dishes were very tasty, the food was a bit overpriced, and there were some misses for us. The escargot was not good. It seemed to be overcooked, and they were very small. The beef Wellington bites were a unique appetizer, and we did enjoy it. The scallops were good, but my husband didn't care for the side dishes that came with it. I ordered 1/2 club sandwich with French onion soup. I thoroughly enjoyed both. My friend ordered 1/2 BLT with the French onion soup. Thought bout were excellent, very favorable, thoroughly enjoyed. I was sad that Cafe Cuvee closed since it was one of my favorite brunch spots. W­e have been to the Chalkboard in Tulsa and we didn't have a good dining experience there, but we were optimistic for brunch today. They still kept some of the items but they took my favorite dish that I typically ordered: chicken and mushroom crepe off the menu. I got the onion soup and the quiche Lorraine. I got my soup in a good amount of time but our entrees took a bit to come out. The onion soup lacked flavor, I was very disappointed with that one. Well, the quiche was even more of a disappointment. It was so oily! There was barely any crust and the quiche was so mushy I had to send it back. I do love the dressing on the side salad. The server who we tend to get pretty much knows us by now, was understanding about it. I switched to the egg white omelet. Well, I ran into the same issue, it was so oily, that the plate was full of it. I had an egg white omelet at other diners and it was far more healthier and flavored than this one. Lastly is the coffee, honestly, we can't even taste the flavor because there's none. read more

We ate here after a show the other night. The ambiance was lovely but approachable. The staff were all kind and attentive, and at least five different people were by our table bringing us things or checking on us. Our server was so kind and helpful, and the food was delicious. We had our kids with us and they inhaled their kids meals, which they usually just pick at. The manager came by to check on us and the sous chef came out to make sure we enjoyed our food. Returned for another breakfast with some good friends. This time I ordered the bread pudding french toast. It was not super sweet which I liked. The blueberry compote was served warm and complemented the cinnamon in the bread pudding well. My order contained three slices of bread pudding which is about right for this price point. This is a restaurant that's associated with the ambassador hotel. There is a young gentleman who opens the door for you as you enter and leave. Bradley was our server and he was good at giving us suggestions for the menu that worked with our likings! They seem to update the menu often so you can go back again and try a new variety of dishes. If I could give zero stars I would. SAVE your money. Went here for our anniversary dinner and being empty on a Saturday night should have been our first clue it was going to be trash. We started with the pork skillet appetizer which was served on what appeared to be 4 day old hard cornbread, garnished with 5 inches of onions. My husband ordered a rare sirloin... it was served well done and accompanied by broccolini which was supposed to be crispy Brussel sprouts. The broccolini which we were not supposed to receive was drenched in oil. I ordered the chicken which was supposed to come with a garlic sauce and it was served with a Demi glaze instead. The "chef" came out and asked how our food was and I told him. No resolution, didn't bring out what we actually ordered, couldn't have cared less. The bartender offered us a dessert but why would we want more terrible food? No thanks I'll save the calories. Horrible service and overpriced. We should have kept our $150 and had a way better meal at McDonald's. Not sure how they are even open. read more

Café Cuvee is our favorite sit-down breakfast place in town. It has such an elegance and vibe to it that it makes you feel like your on the streets of Paris. Service here has always been professional and caring. From the moment you walk in to the hotel you feel like your being valued. For breakfast, I personally love to order the quiche of the day as it is made fresh in house. I also love their house coffee- it is well made and sets the day off to a strong start. If you are planning on coming during the weekend, I do recommend making reservations via open table as it is a popular spot being in Midtown. Checked out the Chalkboard in the Ambassador hotel. In our opinion, an upgrade from the old Cafe Cuvee. We started things off with the Beef Wellington bites. There were mixed reviews about it. I thought it was great, very flavorful with a tasty pepper corn gravy. Some of our party thought it was only so so. Two of our party ordered the BLT & fried green tomato sandwich. Big thumbs up on those and the salad it came with. One of us ordered a cup of tortilla soup and salad. He loved it. I ordered the Jumbo shrimp cocktail. The shrimp wasn't Jumbo, served on a bed of ice where chunks of ice kept sticking to the medium-sized shrimp. The cocktail sauce was average and a very small amount. Highly recommend this place firstly based on the atmosphere. It is really an amazing place for intimate breakfasts or busy meetings over lunch. It is quiet and cozy with enough space to feel like you can write or stay for an hour reading without holding up a seat. The food is great as well. I particularly love the bread pudding French Bread with blueberries and lemon icing. My spouse loves the crab cake Benedict or the traditional Benedict. We go weekly even if just for the drip coffee. It is only $3 and they don't charge outrageous prices for added cream or syrup. I would highly recommend just popping in for the coffee and reading the paper! read more
