What began as a simple project just kept growing. We have a 1928 Spanish bungalow that required some major plumbing work. Daniel updated the main, plumbed a bathroom, replaced corroded drains in the second bathroom that were causing major issues (of which we were not aware of and saved us from a HUGE problem in the near future). Some electrical rewiring was updated in the basement. YAY! Within 1 week, the main and most of the plumbing is brand new with quality materials. Our basement is gorgeous! Miguel and Daniel constructed a new ceiling with all the plumbing hidden providing more height (raised the pipes), recessed lighting, additional light switches (modern with a remote), excellent carpentry, crown molding, created a finished storage closet which includes shelves for easy access, a new door jam and door with updated lighting within and added some special touches for ease, convenience and a curved ceiling to match the charm of rest of the house. Hector joined the team to do a detailed paint job. A lovely vinyl floor was placed to finish off the project. There were so many other things done by a professional, remarkable and talented team. Our job was to remove existing linoleum and replace with tile including a tile baseboard in the kitchen. He was very thorough and removed several layers of linoleum, replaced soft boards, and replaced hardi backer board throughout. He took no shortcuts in the job. Grout lines are spot on, he went under all the appliances, and installed matching schluter finish. He moved and replaced all of the appliances and touched up the paint and matched as needed. Note: We had a budget, gave him the cost of all our appliances, cabinets granite, etc. in ADVANCE of him even starting. After we were told that he would be on/work on the job site every day and we would be the "main" project it turned out for not. He was hardly ever on the job site, things were built torn apart and rebuilt many, many times. We even told him to NOT pull out a header for our master closet (hey it's a closet!) to save $$ and his supposed foreman did it anyway! (his foreman is no longer an employee either) I took photos throughout to document the many issues. When we told him we would not pay for things being redone and redone, he pulled his workers off the job! After negotiation (we needed it finished and no other contractor really wanted to jump in after so much work had been done because they would have to assume any liability) we finally got out "final" even though things were not finished and some of the sub had done shoddy work (painters). We just were fed up and cut the tie. Over the year project, the carpenters would come and go. It seemed he could not "keep" an employee. We even paid him in advance one time to "help" him out a little. In addition, he has a horrible reputation with many sub contractors in our area that I have spoken with personally. (plumbing, glass company, etc) To add insult to injury, he put an illegal lien on our house (the work was not completed yet). We had no problem as we hired an attorney, had photos and documentation but it cost us $$ and time. We will never use him again or give him a referral.

Matt Garcia, the owner of Gold Coast Builders, was extremely helpful and did the very highest caliber of work in taking my home from dream to reality. From the beginning of the project, he listened to all of my input (and I had a lot!) and made constructive suggestions without insisting on his way. Not only was his oversight of the entire process flawless, he ensured that only the very best subcontractors worked on the various components of the construction. He even sent me pictures of the construction in progress when there was an especially cool thing to see. There are not enough good things to say about Matt and Gold Coast Builders. I heartily recommend Gold Coast to anyone who wants a perfect home built.

They deserve to be paid for their labors but I state this to show by example how hardworking and professional they are. - They did not give us *the* lowest quote but we went with them anyway because they struck us has trustworthy and hardworking.
