Tommy Gonzalez always delivers on what he says. When it comes to the scope of the project, I was given clear directions on what would be done and how it would be done. Anytime I had a change order Tommy quickly readjusted the quote. It was wild to see a 1 star review on here that was different from my experience. Let me start out by saying that the one star is because of bad customer service, and breaking a promise. Things started out well when I first met Tommy. I signed a contract where he gave me verbal estimate of how much it would cost. He was supposed to do both the front and the backyard. His guys did a great job on the backyard, but they never got to the front. When I asked Tommy about it, he said that the contract I signed was actually an estimate. Nowhere in the contract do I see the word estimate. It is an invoice. He told me he would have to charge me more to finish the front yard because he claimed that the price could change. He came back and finished part of the front yard, but charged me $150 for it. I am now taking him to Small claims court. I am hiring someone to finish the front yard, and then I will sue him in court for the amount that I pay the new gardener. read more

I highly recommend Tommy of Speedy Gonzalez for fencing and gardening projects. I admired the modern fence he completed at a neighbor's home which turned out beautifully. I contacted him to install a picket fence for our Seaside Sanctuary cottage. He promptly came to provide a formal bid that was fairly priced. He was ready to promptly start on our project in a timely manner. During the project one of his team members made a choice in the design layout that we were not in agreement with. Tommy returned to the job site and rectified the matter quickly at his expense. What I liked most about working with Tommy is that he is calm, kind, and considerate. He seems to manage his client's concerns with a desire to please and welcomes direct in person feedback. He does not minimize, gaslight, act defensively or take things personally when a situation arises. He is communicative and simply dedicated to ensuring the client is satisfied. He has a mature mindset and professional demeanor. He gets the job done and truly cares about a quality outcome. We are extremely pleased with how sturdy and beautiful our fence turned out. Our neighbors all compliment the fence daily. We could not be happier with the results. I can't wait for the garden to fill in beautifully around our picket fence. I contacted Speedy Gonzalez Landscaping to provide me with an estimate to trim 3 trees and replace a 50' fence. Tommy provided me with a very fair estimate. All 3 trees were taller than my 2 story home and needed to be reduced in diameter, height, and thinned out by at least 30%. Some of the limbs had grown over my roof area which my home owners insurance co. required that I trim away from the roof otherwise they would cancel my policy. Tommy's crew did everything I asked and the trees turned out very nice. For the side fence, I asked if they could match the style and height of my rear fence which was taller. Tommy provided me with some cost cutting suggestions and accommodated my wishes. The job also entailed dealing with existing low voltage lighting/wires and having to dig out an old vine stump and root. Tommy's crew started and finished the complete job in 3-1/4 days. I was very impressed by their work ethic and Tommy was polite, dependable, and very easy to work with. I would definitely use them again. read more

He gave me a quick and complete quote, and once accepted, he scheduled the work for the following week. He and his helper Omar were on time, communicated well, and did an excellent job. They brought our system up to code, repaired existing lines, added lines to a new section in our yard, and installed a new controller complete with rain detection to avoid watering on wet days. Our front yard was overgrown with weeds and a number of rouge plants from the past months. Tommy was able to come on short notice. Despite the cold weather and coastal drizzle, Tommy and his working partner were able to completely weed our yard, trim our hedges and haul away unwanted yard debris. I recently hired Tommy to replace my old garden beds. He came up with a beautiful design for raised 12" high redwood planters with a 2x4 ledge that I can sit on, so no more kneeling! In the past I have been disappointed with craftspeople who never respond when I reach out. But Tommy called me the next day, gave me a quote and some creative ideas and was able to start work the next day. He lined the boxes with gopher wire and brought in organic soil to fill the beds. I've been debating to write a review here or not but seeing the state of our yard now I feel compelled to do so. We had seen an flyer up in our neighborhood for affordable landscaping which led us to Tommy. He was super responsive and came out quickly to give us a quote. We were looking for some of our picket fencing to be replaced as well as do yard clean up/lay weed barrier/ and lay new wood chips / and redefine bender board around the yard. Easy enough! We ended up asking them to start and they did very promptly. Then it went wrong. Now Don't get me wrong the fencing turned out great and we have no complaints there, but Where it went wrong was the weed fabric, wood chips, and bender board. What looked like a great job turned into being a half done job. Within a few days we had weeds growing up where they didn't lay the weed fabric all the way to the edge. Multiple spots were missing fabric. They also did not refine all the bender board we had asked for. Tommy came by and looked at the missing fabric and said they would take care of it, but then proceeded to say they were being taken advantage of for us saying we wanted the bender board fixed and they claimed we had not communicated that. Not ideal works to say regardless of miscommunication. The guy came back and "fixed" all the oversights and left. He we are today having to hire another landscaper to come and fix all the issues we asked for this company to resolve after they looked and said it was not weed proper weed fabric that was used and still more spots without fabric. The amount of money we paid for the quality was not worth it unfortunately! Nice guys! lazy work! read more
