I'm happy that a place like Elements of Green exists in our little crossroads community. There is a vast amount of eco friendly products here- from eco friendly flooring to recycled glass tiles,etc. Unfortunately, we don't own our own place yet but hope to one day take advantage of all the products this place has to offer. Thankfully, there are a few household items along with the wonderful FLOR carpet tiles(love these) for my fellow lease holders who want to still make concious decisions in our homes. We recently hired Gerould, the owner of Elements of Green, to replace our kitchen countertops. We were able to design our own countertop through Recycled Glass, the manufacturer that he does business with. We initially orderd a sample with grey, clear, and white pieces, but we decided on white and clear glass only. Gerould processed the order correctly and estimated 2-3 weeks to complete the countertops. Through no fault of his own, the countertops took almost 5-6 weeks to manufacture. We also had problems with the installer and fabrication. Despite Gerould clearly ordering the countertops without grey pieces (listed on the invoice), they made it with the grey pieces anyhow. We agreed to have them installed with the grey pieces, because otherwise, it was going to throw our tile installation off. They also forgot to include the countertop for the recessed window behind our sink. But Gerould really came through. He made sure they made the missing piece within a day and a half and gave us a discount on the countertop. And because of all the problems, the fabricator was terminated. Despite the making the countertops incorrectly, they look very nice and the color combination grows more on us everyday. Gerould was great to work with and we would recommend him to others and would definitely re-hire him for future projects. read more

Maybe service isn't always swift (usually the owner is there alone) or professional (employee's didn't know how to work the computer and they were eating turkey legs at the counter) but this store offers a ton of earth friendly home finishes in one space. Sure, you can order FLOR tile, cork and wool carpet and counter tops online...but wouldn't it be nice to see it in person first? Finally!!!!!!!!!!! It's about time Kansas City got an environmentally-friendly building materials store. This place is like an oasis in a great big barren desert. They have tons of great products, and just walking through the store fills your head with all kinds of ideas about materials that you want to use for a remodel or home addition project. They are sooo up to do date on the latest and greatest. For example, their lighting section is focused on LED technology, which is light years (no pun intended) better than CFL's for energy efficiency, and better for you and the planet. Elements of Green is an enviro-friendly building supply and furnishing solutions store that is sure to make your inner green happy. Here's you'll find recycled glass countertops and a variety of sustanaible flooring. Unfortunately, the experience for me was a bit too sales-pitchy rather than just a casual conversation. I really enjoyed what they had to offer since I'm a huge proponent of green living and the movement towards sustanaible living. If you're in the market and looking for a remodel, definitely check EOG out. One downside is nothing is made locally, so you'll be waiting a bit for production and shipments. read more

When we were looking to do some remodeling of our shop we knew we wanted to use environmentally friendly materials, but were not quite sure where to source them in town. Internet searching brought me to Elements of Green's website. It sounded good, so I went to the Crossroads to check it out. Inside I found Gerould (the owner) and a bunch of different items to check out. His business was only a few months old, so we could relate on some issues! Gerould was very helpful in talking with us about the different materials, providing us with samples to take into the shop, working with us on pricing, etc. We ended up going with cork flooring, and some Paperstone countertops. Both products, so far, have held up to much abuse and they look great too. The only issue we had was that at the time, many installers had yet to work with some of the products so they weren't always exactly sure of how they handled. It didn't end up being too big of a deal. I think many of the products were just starting to be used more often, and installers were having to learn the ropes. We also found it really helpful that Gerould directed us to Habitat Re-Store for taking our old counter tops away. They were able to de-install them, and some ceiling fans, for a small fee and we felt good knowing they would be sold at the Re-Store and not just tossed in a garbage heap. We also were able to take a tax deduction for donating them! If we ever get around to doing some home remodeling, we will definitely be heading back to Elements of Green. read more

I was very happy with the end product I received from Elements Of Green. I worked with the owner. He took my vision, conceptualized it and made it better than I hoped. When we first started my project (recycled glass counter tops) he was still working with his previous manufacture. I had loved all the ideas we had come up with but when the install happened it just wasn't right. Elements Of Green was in the process of migrating to the new manufacture they use now (Recycled Surfaces). The owner took my job as a personal goal and said he wouldn't stop until it was right. He was able to get the old manufacture to refund my money so we could start over. He advised me how great the new manufacture Recycled Surfaces was and that he knew they could create what I was looking for. He was 100% right. The counter tops ended up better than the original sample I had seen. I absolutely love them. They are gorgeous, one of a kind works of art. Oh and they save some glass from the landfill in the process. I would recommend Elements Of Green to everyone, not just those looking for environment conscious design. They make customer service a priority and I find that to be of great value. My recycled glass project turned out amazing and they seem to welcome a challenge. Husband and I made a trip down to the Crossroads during a First Friday and I'm so happy we did. We made an appointment for Julie to visit our home and help me decide what colors to include in our new recycled glass counter top for our kitchen island. She came out, we measured and made a color decision. Before the end of the summer, we had a new counter for our kitchen island. Everyone we encountered at Elements of Green was extremely professional. I can't imagine getting this type of friendly service at a Home Depot or Lowes.
