Ever heard of psoriasis? A fungal bacterial infection:) well elements sure did give me that and more. I went in shortly after having my baby so I had post partum depression and really wanted to have a change to feel more confident and pretty. I've never even heard of psoriasis before. I took great care of my hair and the only things I wanted done was a small dead end trim and my hair colored lighter. My mom has been my only hair stylist for years. She is a licensed professional going on 10 years so she has told me the whole run down about color and about care. She moved to Texas and I haven't had anyone do my hair since. So this was a HUGE decision to let someone else do it. I ended up leaving in tears and crying the whole way home. My hair was cut above my shoulders and after 15 minutes back and forth she bullied me into getting a dark color done because she didn't want to do a process of dying it lighter. Every time I was at the wash station she would wash my hair and water would run down my back drenching my shirt and pants. Embarrassing! After the process she didn't even style my hair, left it flat, colored awful, and cut so short! For someone who just had a baby and already feeling so insecure and that to happen? I left with dark witchy purple flat hair above my shoulders. My back was drenched in water and I was a crying mess. Days later I started getting severe dandruff issues and burning and itching on my scalp to where it was cracking and bleeding:) I went into a dermatologist that said I had gotten a bacterial infection and fungus was growing.. So really thank you for this experience. You guys claim to be all natural and have "the best" people working with a good environment. Yet when I had a conversation with a stylist they told me they weren't even licensed! They were going to school to get licensed. So you don't even have professional people who know what they are doing either. I am enraged at the fact I was even denied a refund of 250 dollars that I spent:) a Malibu, condition treatment, a color, a trim, and a style. The style wasn't even done! The trim was a full blown cut! The color wasn't even what I wanted! I was walked all over and bullied. Given an infection. And soaked. You guys suck.​ read more

I had a good experience with actually getting my hair dyed, however I think that Elements as a whole is kind of overrated. (poor word choice, I know.) You are paying for the extras and the environment, I believe you can get the same quality services from somewhere else without all of the extra things. It is a high end spa so do expect higher prices. I do think it is a very clean and beautiful salon, just not for people who simply want a simple service. I love this Aveda salon and spa so much! I have been going to this salon and spa for about 6 years now and I've always had nothing but great experiences with their services, people, and products. I get my hair done through Natalie (she's amazing) & massages done through Katie & Jesse (they are my life savers!) Also Aveda uses cruelty free and clean products which is extremely important to me. All of their products are cruelty free and vegan! I saw other reviews that said they were pricey and yes, they can be. But you absolutely get what you pay for and I'm willing to pay a little more for all the great experiences I've had these past six years. Thank you Elements Fam!! read more

I was so excited for this appt. Not only was there no one at reception to check in with, my stylist was 30 minutes behind with zero heads up. After waiting 30 minutes I had decided to leave, that's when my name got called. My cut was not good. I asked for fresh layers to relieve the weight of my hair and allow my natural curl to function and curtain bangs. I got 90s nightmare rat tail on your forehead bangs and barely any layers. For $80. My Mom came into town & wanted to get her hair done. I've been to very few places since I've moved here because I know that certain things are different compared to the lower 48 so I recommended Elements. I've had my haircut once, my daughter has had 2 haircuts, and I've also had my eyebrows done there numerous times. It's 1 of 2 "salons" I've tried and more than once. About $300 later, she walked out with her hair barely cut, her roots touched up, & highlights done. She said her stylist dry cut her hair because she didn't want to wash & cut it because my Mom's hair was curly. Her highlights were supposed to be reddish and they were on the carmel side. The stylist was supposedly a level 6 stylist & has been doing hair for over 15 years?! Let's just say she wasn't happy with the price she paid for her visit to Elements. read more

Fantastic place to get and get a hair cut. I have gone to see Clare since 2012 and won't go anywhere else. I make appointments about every 6 weeks and there is always something that works with my schedule. The staff are always friendly and I have never seen them talk down or give snotty looks to anyone. The place is very clean smells pretty good. There are lots of products for women and some for us guys too. I've tried a couple products and have been satisfied. My hair cut is pretty simple, but the washing and conversation is what I enjoy the most. If you're a dude and hate the sound of a vacuum taped to clippers, make an appointment and give this place a shot. read more

My family purchased an entire Spa Day for me that included 5 services. The Spa Day was wonderful (mani and pedi could have been a little better but it was a young apprentice which I didn't mind) but it was a bit disappointing that I was still charged over $100 more than what the gift card covered. They were able to reduce it down to $85 more, but I should mot have had to pay for anything other than a tip. That's why it was a gift afterall. My sister (who was the one who purchased it in person) was furious because they specifically wnrt over each service and the cost and they even highlighted it all in the brochure which ones she had paid for. I gave them that highlighted brochure with my gift card at check-in, but at check-out that brochure was nowhere to be found. That is why I am only giving them 3 stars. read more

I called asking for a stylist that is good at cutting short textured hair for women. The person recommended Toni. Toni was very nice and the place was very nice but I walked out with a typical boy's style hair cut. If you are a girl with short hair you know that the texture and style of a girl's short hair cut is quite different from that of a guy's short hair cut. Most women up here have long hair so I'm guessing she typically only does short hair cuts for men and gave it her best shot. Thankfully hair grows out and it is still hat season up here. I don't mean to knock Toni but at the same time I would like to spare somebody else from getting a disappointing hair cut. I had a great first-time experience. I was a walk-in and they were very busy so I had an appointment scheduled the next day. My appointment ran on time and my stylist, Miranda, was sweet and did a fantastic job on my hair, especially since I had a traumatizing hair cut previously. The scalp & neck massage was fantastic! She was great and made me feel comfortable about the outcome. The salon was busy but not disorganized or messy. I had a very bad experience at this place of business. I wanted to give them a try and was told that they were the nicest salon in the area. The hairstylist was not very experienced dealing with color, or even with cutting very long, thick hair. She was nice enough. But I actually cried when I left. I had a girl's trip planned for Las Vegas and was excited to get dolled up for my vacation. I am not typically one who complains and was hesitant to do so. But, I knew that the cost of fixing the issues was going to cost me more than twice as much, and it ended up costing three times the original cost. I had to have several special treatments done to remove the color and put the color back in and make my hair look healthy and shiny again. The difference is absolutely stunning. When I left Elements, the ends were so dry and broken and brittle that I was heartbroken. I went to the owner to show her and she was quite rude to me. She did admit that the cut looked terrible, but insisted that my hair was in bad condition when I sat down in the chat. I have, myself, owned many businesses and it has always been my personal practice to make the customer feel heard and important. After all, tbere would be no business without your customers. Because I asked for a refund for services that were not at all what I had requested, I was asked to never visit their salon again. Wow. Just. Wow. That refund, once again, only covered less than 1/3 of the cost of fixing my hair. I've had the same person, in Ohio, working on my hair for ten years or more. She was shocked to see the condition of my hair. I was in her salon for four hours to fix the mess that was created and I left with soft, shiny, and highlighted hair and I am thrilled with my hair now. Communication is always the key to any service rendered. Had the stylist at Elements been honest and forthright about feeling uncomfortable or not experienced enough to do as I had requested, we would have never had any issues. She didn't even know how to use a flat iron to curl my hair. She allowed me to leave with wet, unstylish hair. I did go home and wash my hair and used a hair mask several times to try to fix the dry and brittle hair that I was left with after my time there. In addition to the money that I had to spend in order to fix the mistakes, I also had to purchase two products to use on my hair to continue to treat it after the mess that was made. Had the owner been more kind and understanding and had remembered that I am the customer and was unhappy, she could have refunded my money and I would not have written this review. In addition, I had my eyebrows waxed and tinted. She wiped off all of the tint and I also had to have those redone. I hate leaving bad reviews. I would have preferred to have handled it with grace and dignity and class. But, unfortunately, Tina, the owner, was rude and unkind and forgot that the number one rule is that word of mouth can either work in your favor or be your demise. Had there been the level of communication that most businesses, who care about their customes, there for me, I would have never said a word and I would have just paid the exhorbanant costs of fixing it all and gone on my merry way. I would have probably even have gone back for my eyebrows and facials, and they would have had a great customer in me. I understand that mistakes happen. It is the way that these mistakes are handled that makes all of the difference in the world to the customer. We are all just human beings, worthy of being treated with respect and dignity. We should not be made to feel that we are terrible people for complaining and asking for a resolution. I completely agree that the owner should back her stylists, but never at the expense of the customer. The customer is always "right" or at the very least, you create an atmosphere that feels safe for the customer to be honest about his/her experience with your business. At this point, you demanding that I never visit your place of business is comical, but at the same time it is so incredibly inappropriate that I have no words. Had I been the owner of this salon, I would have refunded the money and then offered something to bring the customer back in to show good faith and to leave the customer feeling special and understood. Instead, she tried to make me feel guilty for asking for this refund, as it affects their income( well, most of us who have worked on commission understand that we only get paid if we satisfy the wants and needs of our clients) and I was adamant that the stylist kept my 60 dollar tip. So, she did still make money from this ordeal and it was my pocketbook that was in the red to the tune of 400 dollars. I apologize for the long post. Paid $55.00 for the worst haircut I have ever had. Went in for a simple trim, came out with a lopsided disaster. I requested about an inch off with long layers and shaping around my face. She barely took anything off the back and the "shaping" around my face was two inches shorter on one side. Not to mention, the station was FILTHY. Some nail salons in town will do eyelash extensions for $35... I can't speak to that, but I'm not sure I'd want to. If you're happy paying extra to feel comfortable with the end result, Elements is probably a better idea for you. The service is great, and the price is comparable to similar places in the states (actually a bit cheaper, from what I hear). Courtney gave me my first eyelash extensions last week. I had no idea what to expect, other than some articles I'd read on Google, but she walked me through the entire process and made me feel comfortable about the very long and very different experience. For those who've never had eyelash extensions put in, it is a very involved ordeal (more uncomfortable than most hair extensions), so it's pretty important to have someone you trust take care of you. After the consultation (which was free, as you'd expect), I knew I picked the right place. I love my lashes, but will be going in next week to have them shortened, since they brush against my glasses sometimes. The front desk girl who booked my second appointment was thorough with the notes to give to Courtney, and I have no doubt that she'll work on them until I'm happy and feeling awesome about them again. Not to be downplayed, the atmosphere in the salon is phenomenal. The second you walk in, you feel your problems melt away. The place is great, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. It's also kind of surprising how quickly they can work you in. Their catch phrase seems to be, "How about tomorrow? Is that too soon?" I LOVE THIS PLACE. The last stylist I had was frustrated with my long hair because it was going to take a long time to color. I had an awful haircut and she did not even time to dry my hair. I was in desperate need and really looking forward to my appointment. I was looking forward to it because it really needed to be done & also we had some family health issues going on back home & i needed the pampering. First of all, she came walking up slurping her almost gone slushie and just wasn't friendly, professional, and she didn't When I went back to sit in her chair I told her what I wanted. Megan then informed me how "broken" and "dead" and "dull" my hair was and how she wants to add brown and only 3-4 highlights for me. Then, she walked off to start getting color. Sitting here with tears in my eyes--mortified that basically every one around me including my husband just heard how terrible my hair is -- I left. I am not going to pay good money for some airhead to tell me what she is going to do to my hair. **If you're looking for a stylist -- go to Missy at "Head to Toe" salon in North Pole. Also, "JM Hair studio" is amazing as well! Prior to returning to elements one last time I had been getting my hair done by missy. Missy is amazing, warm, not to mention doing hair a lot longer then Megan. If my hair was so lifeless and horrible I would have known. My wife and I had our hair cut here for five years and were pleased by the service and quality of the cuts. Unfortunately it has become too difficult to get an appointment - from ANY stylist. We live out of town and often cannot make appointments 3, 4, or even 5 weeks in advance, which is the current requirement. We are moving on to another place and are disappointed. read more

HORRIBLE! I don't remember my stylists name, but she sucked! She FRIED my hair! I wanted the ombre and she did it way too high, it basically just looked like I hadn't done my roots in forever, and she left the bleach in WAY too long, because now my hair is practically straw and has no style to it except frizz. I'm going to give this salon the benefit of a doubt. I came in for an updo for a special event having budgeted 1.5 hours for the service. The salon was running behind schedule and my appointment started an hour late, leaving me with less than 30 minutes for a $69+ updo. However, the stylist did an excellent job considering the time that she had. The front desk was a bit frazzled but they were making every effort to provide good service. Great place for a haircut. Called in the morning and they had an appt for me at the last minute with Miranda. Walked in and the place was clean and the staff was helpful, very friendly. Miranda was on time and did a great job of listening to what I wanted done to my hair. She made sure to check my satisfaction of the haircut during the whole time she was cutting my hair. Great massage prior to the haircut, so relaxing. And the shampoo and massage was perfect. I felt at ease, relaxed and really enjoyed my experience with Elements and Miranda.
