Made an evening appointment based on my co-workers suggestion of the place. I needed a decent place to go for a great shellac manicure and regular pedicure. This place was more than decent. I gave it 5 stars for cleanliness, a tv with the food channel on that you could watch from every angle of the shop, good color range, and well priced services. The service was fine. I was actually referred here after a really bad experience at another nail salon. Upon arriving I was warmly greeted and quickly serviced. The woman helping me listened intently to my concerns and made suggestions appropriately. The thing I appreciate most was that she gave her honest opinion about a service I was inquiring about and though she would have made more money, she advised against it: It's been many years since I've had acrylic nails and always get a gel manicure. Lately I've been wanting to try the coffin nails which would require me to get acrylics. As many ways as I asked, hoping the answer would be different, she advised against it as it would result in damage to my nails. The previous salon did such a poor job and she expertly corrected my manicure and re polished my toenails. I am so pleased with the color, design, and overall experience that I will definitely return in a couple of weeks for a pedicure and manicure. The only reason I didn't get a pedi this time is because the other salon filed my heels too low and I have to wait for it to heal. I also got my eyebrows waxed and they are perfect!!! I went in there for a payday treat and because I hadn't gotten my nails done in about a year. I wanted to get a $30 deluxe manicure with a gel/shellac color. Something I've always done with no issues at other places... Typically "deluxe" manicures involve hot towels, lotion, and a gentle massage. I got none of that, and worse. When I got to the table, The person working on me put my fingers in cold water and told me that he wouldn't do gel color on my nails because they could break my nail. I've never had that happen, but okay. He wanted me to do a "dip nail color" instead. Okay, fine, whatever. Now, one thing you should know about this author is that I am anxious and have a hard time saying no. So I said yes. And then he brings out acrylic nails, something that has also caused me severe discomfort in the past. I told him no, which for me is a brave thing to do. He told me that I needed them for dip nail. My courage all used up, I gave in. I told him to go as short as he's willing to go, which wasn't very. The entire appointment I was nervous, because half way through, he told me it was going to be $55. So I couldn't back out. For cold water and something I truly didn't want. Something I had said no to, but was badgered into because gel color would have "broken my very short nails." When I was done, I paid and left in a hurry. I was in so much discomfort that I immediately went to Fred Meyers and bought acetone. It took 3 hours of soaking, filling, and trimming to finally get my nails free from their dip/acrylic nail prison. I'm giving this place a two star rating because: 1. They did not listen to my requests, and ignored my clear "no" to something I didn't want. 2. I did not get a manicure experience as I knew it. 3. I ended up getting roped into $55, half way through the service, so I couldn't say no AGAIN anyway. 4. Did not explain what a dip nail color was, which caused me severe discomfort in the end. When you say color, I expect JUST color, not acrylic/plastic additions to my nails. 5. I'd give them a zero stars, but it was partially my apprehension to be firm about what I want, and what I don't want, that put me in this situation. read more

I have been getting my nails done at this salon for years and have never once had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and makes amazing recommendations for me on my nail color every time. The pricing is a little high sometimes but you pay for what you get and it is definitely worth paying the extra money. Best to make appointment as they stay very busy usually. read more

Friendly and clean salon, I came in as a walk in and they were able to get me in right away. They had nice colors and i was able to get both mani / pedi within 1 hr. It was a nice quite, clean, quick, salon, I had no wait but that could have been because I went early on a monday. I would have given it 5 stars if I didn't have to get up out of the massage chair and sit in a normal chair for the paraffin dip on my feet, and the massage chair I was in wasn't broken. I got the hot stone pedicure, the leg and foot massage was AMAZING and relaxing. The chair I was in, second to the last in the row, had the padding broken down or the massager in the back was broken, because it dug into my back on the right really hard, so hard I had to turn it off. No worries though, the percussion and vibrations worked well enough, just no kneading, could have just been I'm more sensitive though. The employees were very friendly and helpful, they had 2 TV's with closed captions on (one on CNN and the other on travel channel), playing classical music overhead and a fish tank in the corner. She rude ass lady who talked to my sister on the phone, was im assuming, the same rude lady I dealt with in person. Told me they needed to know exactly what every person wanted or they wouldn't book the appointment. My siblings are flying in from out of state and im sorry I couldn't lock down which style pedi they wanted..... Was treated as if I couldn't afford the price when she said " theres a deposit " cuz Saturdays are their busy days, when I came in ON A SATURDAY and there were 6 empty pedi chairs and only 2 customers getting nails done. Took our money elsewhere. And guess what? Happy nails has a vip room for reservations and they treated me so well, didn't ask for a deposit and weren't rude. Customer service goes a long way. After telling them what happened at happy nails 3 customers chimed in and said they had terrible experience there and not to go anyway!! I went for myself and loved the service however, I tried to book an appointment for myself and my daughter who is turning 12 and they refused to take my appointment because I antes gel polish for her. She verified there is no chemical harm for my daughter but they won't do it bc it's too much money and kids don't take care of it. She busy worried about people who can't afford it. After telling her the money is not an issue, but I would rather not waste money on regular posts and it chip in 2 days. She kept saying " if something happen it's not my fault" I asked if I get regular polish and it only last 2 days whats the difference or what's the difference if I as an adult don't take care of my nails? Nothing, once the client leaves and if they have done the service properly, there is no expectation of fault. I said you are potentially missing out on a regular appointment for 2 people simply because you may have had trouble with other people who couldn't afford it or understood the risk. However if I say I am willing to pay for a better quality polish and you still tell me you won't do it, I guess you must not need anymore clients who can afford to pay for quality products or service. This is odd bc usually ppl try to upsell you not downgrade service. She had no valid reason foe not wanting to do the service I was willing to pay for because kids will be kids and regular polish will not last so I feel it's more of a waste to not get gel. read more

I got my nails done before there and they were amazing! I loved my nails they stayed on for a long time! But recently I had went in for a full set and the guy who was doing my nails was rushing and was rough with filing them. Let me tell you I got my nails done yesterday 3/26 and I had went home to do some house chores and the nail started getting lumpy to find out the polish isn't sticking! never had this problem the first time I had went there! I had this look in mind of getting the ombre and the guy suggested to do the other one because it was "faster" ok! I will be taking my service elsewhere! read more

This used to be my favorite place to get nails but they rip off acrylics because (in their own words) it takes too long to soak off. I was in pain and told the lady doing it and she just kept going. Had I not needed nails for a wedding that I was getting on a plane for in a few hours I would've walked out. Do not let them take off nails for you, my nails are horrid underneath the acrylics. There are gaps between my natural nail where you can see raw skin and I was bleeding because they ripped complete strips and chunks off by just yanking the acrylics off, I have never EVER had my nails treated like this and I'm truly hating the idea of the pain that's going to come when I have to soak off this pair when the acetone touches the skin that's supposed to be protected by the nail they ripped off. There are other places in town where they will not physically harm you out of laziness and an unwillingness to do the job right. read more

My wife went in to get a pedicure and she was embarrassed by the staff person having her remove her shoes and then loudly saying they wouldn't do her toes because they have problem with ingrown toenails getting infected. This makes me wonder about how sterile their equipment is. This is a shock since we have been going here for years and even had a pedicure last month with no issue. Terrible service. Treated me horribly. I've gotten my nails done hundreds of times and have NEVER had anyone grab my arm slam it on the pad and tell me not to move.. I hadn't even messed anything up for him to do that. And I had my 10 month old daughter with me who is way more important! Then my 2 friends got super cute designs, exactly what they wanted, from his wife. I showed him what design I wanted and he said no I do my flower, it looked like shit. Went in for an eyebrow wax. Told the woman that I only wanted them cleaned up. I told her that I hadn't had them done in two months because I had to let them regrow from the last time I had them done elsewhere. Once she finished, I checked them out and not only did she make them too thin, she took out actual chunks of hair from my eyebrow. I was almost crying because of how messed up they look and I let her know how messed up they were, and she still had the audacity to charge me $12. I decided to find a nail salon to treat myself to a pedicure, manicure, shellac gel and eyebrow/lip wax. LA Nails was the place to go! I was immediately greeted when I walked in, sat in my pedicure chair in the amount of time I would be told the wait was. And as soon as I sat in the pedicure chair I was spoiled rotten! The service was so friendly and wonderful! Ryan did my shellac manicure and he made my nails look marvelous. Another woman did my eyebrow and lip wax and she was also very kind and made sure I was happy with her work. I found my new nail salon and I was happy to spend my money here. I will never go back here!!! I went for just fill on pink and was charged $35!!!!! I'm new here in Fairbanks and understand that things are a little more expensive then TX but $35 for a fill on just pink....come on!! I even questioned the price to the guy doing the fill and he said $35. Then when I was leaving I took one of their price list and it had pink fills for $25-30!! There was nothing that even cost $35. Am a straight guy but love a good pedicure. Having said that - all there pedicure people were men. Appears to be a family run place. At first I thought this was different until it can time to massage my feet. Hand strength was great and was a deep massage. Exactly what I needed. Asked for a refund, and was told they can only give a 50% refund via a gift certificate. Horrible way to deal with customer satisfaction, especially after being customers for so many years.
