This spa is on the 8th floor of a vintage building on the Touro Infirmary campus. Parking was on the street. The elevator was to the right as you walk in the door and you go to the top floor. The spa is entire floor and ring the bell to have someone let you in from the elevator lobby. I think this is the 3rd location of this business. Glad they are in my area and that I found them! (What an ideal time). On the day of the appt, my grandmother and I arrive and there are no signs or anything signaling a 1st time customer they are located in a plaza which clearly you cannot see from the street. A nice lady come to greet us but then I had to find parking. It was soooo HOT!! By the time I arrived in the building I had to freshen up in the bathroom. On the way walking toward the building there is A man with a dog tied to the bench in the breezeway just barking at everyone as they pass. What a scene on the way to serenity. Once I entered the building my 1st service was waiting on me. No paperwork was completed as a 1st time customer and was asked by the person doing the massage what areas I needed done. She was very pleasant and could tell I was FURIOUS with the process. She kept apologizing. THE MASSAGE WAS AMAZING!!!! I would recommend her but I am not toooooo fond of the place. Then the FACIAL!!' Absolutely horrible. I sat in a chair where the lady explained what she would be using. No time was my skin discussed. I clearly was not looking for a simple facial but because I set appointment day before I was not able to really understand what is entailed in each facial. Then the facial begins. When it was over no discussion of my skin and was. Told we will see you up front. Massage 1 hour and facial 30 minutes. Well my grandmother had a manicure. PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY SHE WAS STILL DRYING AFTER 1.5hrs. After I paid and added $22.00 tip the cashier (same person who did my facial) says before I can even leave she left $22.00. WOW!!! Are you serious? No one even offered the products in the lobby for sale. After my facial my face was soooo dry it was ridiculous. I was not even asked what type of skin do I have. No type of data sheet done. After leaving there are a group of people sitting on a stump cussing, and arguing in the corridor patio area I was like I just spent $200.00 for this. I will never again. Vicky took me and she was super nice and made beautiful recommendations since I wasn't sure what I wanted to get when I came in. I ended up getting a solar set with four flower encapsulated nails. She pulled out all the flowers she had with her and then suggested some foils that I looked at while she shaped my nails. She was very attentive and paid a lot of attention to detail which I really appreciate. She even went as far as to go on the back side of the nail and file down any spare acrylic which I've never had done before. She made sure she filed down the thickness of the front as well. Whenever I went to my main salon (cute nails don't get me wrong) they always made the nails way too thick and left me wanting more from them. But I can truly say I left 100% happy with my set from L'amour. They were also playing super calming music which almost put me to sleep since I was so relaxed. If you're looking for a nail salon that does on-trend nail designs that look like the pictures (if not better) then you need to see Vicky. I'm glad to have found a new favorite nail salon. He is the reason they didn't just get one star. Based on this experience I made an appointment for today at 1pm, again on my lunch hour, for a basic pedicure. I arrived right on time for my 1pm appointment and not only was every person there with a client they appeared to have just started full sets on everyone. At 1:12 I inquired as to how much longer the wait would be and explained that I was on a schedule, which is why most people make appointments. Of course, I was told 5 minutes. I was seated in a pedicure chair by an older gentleman who turned on the (scalding hot) water and returned to glueing tips on his client. When I told him the water was entirely too hot for me to even put my feet in he simply turned it off leaving me to wait with my feet resting on the side of the bowl. At this point I just wanted them to hurry up with what they were doing. I informed them - at 1:30 - that I was leaving as I could not wait any longer. They all simply watched me walk out the door with no acknowledgement or apology. Here's a suggestion. Do NOT accept appointments if you cannot honor them. And don't be rude to those customers who made an appointment, showed up on time for their appointment, then were essentially ignored and jerked around.
