This gym is doesn't have a lot of frills, but it has weights, to include bumper weights, its open almost all the time, the members are friendly, staff is really nice. Literally was so uncomfortable just standing there in the front of the gym with all the dudes staring at me. Not one woman in site and I was there at least 45 minutes. I am just reviewing the management of this gym. I want to be objective in this review and as such I want to say that the pricing cannot be beat. The gym is always clean and the equipment is new and in working order. However, this place has some pretty shady business practices. I was a member at the former Gold's Gym for over a year when this place took over. I initially wanted to cancel my membership because I didn't know who this company was and now I am regretting I didn't cancel. I was moving to California for a new job on 4/29 and their front desk people advised me to come in about a month before I left and sign a form to cancel my membership. I did exactly that on 4/2. Low and behold on 5/1, I get a charge for $44.99. Apparently a month notice wasn't enough for them but they also felt obligated to hit me with a $25 club enhancement fee AS I WAS LEAVING. I felt that was pretty disingenuous. The manager was absolutely zero help and was more interested in sticking it to his members, of which I was for a long time than helping them out or understanding the situation at hand. Instead he was more interested in giving out an attitude. I would rather be at a gym that had a bit older equipment but didn't bend you over the table when it came to things like this, so I would RUN not walk away from this place. read more

I really enjoy going to max fitness. I have the 29.95 membership which allows me to bring a friend and use the childcare. The gym is small and you get to know the regulars very well. Did a free trial a couple weeks ago. Great atmosphere and a fantastic variety of equipment. The guys going there are friendly and seem to help push each other. Looks like a great place to go and be around like minded individuals who want to get stronger. I did notice they do deadlift competitions which is terrific but at the same time it looked like a snap city factory and no one was correcting anyone on form. I probably won't be signing up for a membership because it doesn't have much to offer that Peterson Fitness Center doesn't already have. read more

This place has many problems. The biggest issue for myself is that I cancelled my membership four months ago and they continue to bill me every month. I fear that I will have to take legal action to resolve the issue. Other than that, the equipment is really old and unsanitary, it appears that nobody cleans the place at all, and there is a constant stench of feces throughout the entire place. I travel a lot and work out in a lot of different gyms. This gym had everything I needed. It had an excellent free weight area and a cross fit section. There were plenty of cardio machines. gym was plaugued with broken equipment, staff was completely unhelpful even when I went to cancle my membership no one would answer the phone and finding someone at the gym was a chore as staff are usually not at the front desk in during business hours. I m very disapointed I went there for 2 years brought 3 other people there as well and when I wanted to bring a friend there to work out with me I was told i had an old membership that would not allow me to bring anyone for free. I don't think alot of people there are concerned about this place at this moment if they are currenlty a member at this place! (just wait until you try to leave) Well let me tell you something just like the others that have commented on, the management at this place is less than pair when it comes to people skills and understanding. I am getting ready to move and not by choice to another state where they do not have a "Max Fitness". My memebership is paid up until May 2013 due to a special they where having, which included the $10 membership startup fee and the first and last months fees. Well when I went to inform the "Management" (you know who you are) that I would be leaving and that the months inbetween were already paid for. He told me that I would have to pay for an additional month, "Just Because". What kinda S!$T is that! Even though from when I informed him of this it was well in advance( like 45 days). It seems to be the norm for most not all gyms to try to shaft you when you want to leave their establishment. I like the gym. The Cross Fit Staff are helpful and friendly. The front desk staff...well good luck finding them. Most of the time they aren't even at the desk but are playing with their cell phones or talking with their friends. Why would you pay people for customer service when all you have is a scanner at the front desk that people are supposed to scan their card into? I have seen several people walk right by that scanner and wander around the gym, I even seen a homeless guy walk in, go take a shower, and leave, not one customer service rep around to been seen...and this was at 10 am! The management, HORRIBLE. I am trying to change my membership and was told by the front desk girl (after she rolled her eyes at me because she needed to set her cell phone down) that I needed to speak with a manager to add services to my account. Ok, where is the manager. The manager won't be in until 11 am. I explained that I could not wait that long because I had to go to work. She told me to call in after 11 am and speak with the manager. At 11am I called the manager and told her I wanted to add services to my account. She told me I needed to come in person and she wouldn't do it over the phone. I asked if I could come in the next day. She told me she had things to do and wouldn't be in until late. In what business model does a customer need to track down your management to add services to their account? (more money for your business). Why would a customer continue to do business with you if the only time I can conduct that business is at the convenience of your manager? I'm all about supporting small local businesses instead of the corporate chains. I've been through three owners. All have been great people but the current owners Brandon and Tara by far have invested the most in really making this a real gym. No fluff (Tanning beds, massages, miscellaneous classes, etc.) They provide everything you need to meet your fitness goals, from a wide-range of hammer strength equipment, free weights, cardio equipment, Spin and Zumba classes, Crossfit and more. The environment is very focused on fitness. You can tell the members go there to get it done and the owners encourage a very family friendly gym. If you are looking for a place to get your kids into fitness, this is one of Colorado Springs best kept secrets but not for long! read more

THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS IN TOWN - DO NOT GO THERE!!!!! Just as the previous reviewer, I will try to be objective and find something positive about this Gym, but the only good thing I can mention is the personal trainer I had for a while, Shannon Oehlerking, she is absolutely great!! Very knowledgeable and caring! Unfortunately this is where the positive ends!! I signed-up to be a member at the location on Powers and Palmer Park when the gym opened under Gold's Gym and was there since. A few months ago the gym changed to MaxFitness?! I was on a month-to-month membership and my dues (almost $30 a month) very actually quite high for the size of the gym!! (they have no pool, only very few classes etc). About 2 months ago I pulled an injury and since it will take months to heal, I had to cancel my membership. Since I have to give a 30-day notice, (even with a month-to-month membership?!?) I was also forced to pay one more month of membership. While I was not exactly happy about that (it was wasted money) I've tried to accept it. But then the gym had the audacity to charge me their yearly "Maintenance Fee"!!!! So I basically threw over $50 out the window. Additionally, "Management" handled the situation in the most unprofessional way possible!! Since the business changed from Gold's Gym to MaxFitness, BUT they are trying to hold you to the same rules and contracts anyway!!?? Really?? If you are an "older" person looking for a good place to work out.....go someplace other than Elevation Fitness. I am an older member and have been a member since 2013. A personal trainer, Chardonnay, does a class and plays the music ridiculously loud. I made a comment regarding how loud the music was and she turned it up even louder, apparently out of spite. I have loved Elevation Fitness, before. However, It appears this personal trainer has issues with the elderly members which truly crosses over into discrimination. This used to be an excellent gym. It was always clean, plenty of space, and you really couldn't beat the price. The gym has changed lately. The gym is fairly dirty most of the time, the restrooms are disgusting. The gym is overcrowded with equipment to the point you can barley move around. Good luck if you go to workout during a busy time. I was putting up with this ok because of the price, and without notifying members, the price went up. There are three gyms within a few blocks of this place, I recommend trying one of those instead. This place seems to change owners a lot, so perhaps the next owners will get it back in shape. read more

Elevation is a ok gym to join. I have two major problems though, Ms. Crabtree which I read on here is one of the owners always gives me dirty looks while I am in the gym as to act like she is better then everybody else. The other is I don't mind crossfitters and nor do I care what they do but lets have a rule that everybody must at least wear some type of shirt at all times. I don't go to the gym to see a bunch of sweaty guys with their shirts off parading around the gym. The other thing I have noticed is all the cardio equipment in there is good but there is always people waiting for the stair stepper how about getting another one? Besides those things it is not a bad gym and has what is needed to stay fit. read more

I joined this gym when it was still a Gold's affiliate. I joined it due to the disastrous situation at the North location and given the fact that I had just prepaid for personal training sessions that they refused to refund me. They changed names to Max Fitness and I continued to use up the personal training sessions they would not refund to me. After I had used all my sessions, I canceled my membership with the understanding that they would bill me for one additional month, as per their cancellation policy. I canceled in March 2012, and that should have been the end of the matter. However, they have continued to charge me membership, even though we have moved out of state. They claim to have lost my paperwork and said I had to resubmit it. I filled out the paperwork, purposefully not checking the box to authorize them to charge me for one more month, and explaining that I was not checking the box because they had already collected 4 months dues from me with no services rendered. They just charged me again yesterday, and when I called today to inquire, Clay (the owner/manager) told me that they would not refund me the money. Save yourselves the headache. Do NOT patronize this gym. They don't properly file your paperwork (meaning that my credit card number could be floating around unsecured, etc.), and they don't care about their word-of-mouth reputation. I have given them ample time to rectify this situation to my satisfaction and they have out-right refused. read more

Max Fitness is the worse gym in town. I signed up when Gold's Gym first opened. Then the name changed to Max Fitness. Everything else was the same, and it seemed like a nice place until I tried to cancel my membership. It took my six months to get it canceled and an extra 200 dollars. The management was so rude, and accused me of lying. I even had proof from my credit card company that I had tried to cancel, but they didnt care. They even told me they were going to go after my credit score. I tried cancelling, and they would never let me out. I wasnt even using the gym because I had moved. It took six months to get it canceled, I had to come back to Colorado Springs to do it, and I ended up having to pay for those six months plus a yearly 60 dollar fee. The total for dealing with them even though I had a month to month account, 200 dollars. This place is ridiculous. Save yourself money, time, and a headache. It seems great at first, but if you never plan to cancel then dont go there. read more
