We had such a great experience here. This was our second haircut experience, the first was ay another place where we had a great experience but the actual haircut was very crooked. These kids cuts are not cheap so having a good cut as well as a good experience is important to me. We were taken right at our appointment time, and our stylist, Cecilia, was so friendly and kind she made my daughter feel comfortable right away. I've had a great experience here from ear piercing to first time toddler hair cut! I first brought my 5 year old daughter here for her ear piercings! Irma did a great job! She placed it perfectly and did an amazing job calming my daughter. The front desk girl also was so nice and had a friendly welcoming. Irma was quick and accurate! Then I took my 1.5 year old son back for his hair cut. ARMANDO did such an amazing job with my son! My son is very active and not the easiest kid to work with but Armando was so patient and was able to keep him still and calm most of the time. I highly recommend this place. Armando did a fantastic job with my daughter! It was my two-year-old's first full salon haircut, and she was pretty nervous at first--saying "no" several times whenever Armando came near with the comb. He was incredibly patient and gentle, asking for permission before touching her hair and even giving her pretty brushes to play with. To help her feel comfortable, he put hair glitter in his own beard and let her pick out a ribbon color for her hair later. My daughter absolutely loved sitting in and "driving" the pink car chair during her haircut. Armando noticed halfway through that my daughter wasn't paying much attention to Bluey on the tv screen in front of her so he changed it to an "ABC" song which she enjoyed much more. Despite her wiggling around quite a bit, he still managed to give her an even cut with adorable bangs! We waited for more than an hour on a Sunday, and the front desk mixed up the order a bit, but it was still absolutely worth it. The salon has plenty of toys to keep kids entertained, so she was never bored while waiting. Highly recommend Armando for anyone looking for a patient and skillful stylist for little ones! read more

Terrible experience. Baby's ears were pierced in the wrong spot. I was incredibly upset. I asked for a new piercer and she redid them. I didn't take any of this lightly I might add. But I figured we were there and I had already put my daughter through this. I didn't want to have to go elsewhere and put her through this a second day. One ear looks good on the second try. The other piercing was not on the mark. These were two different piercers. Neither could get it right. The second piercer was not very understanding that my daughter had already been through a lot. She just kept trying to hurry and get it done. I left very upset and did not pay for the piercing. My baby screamed the first time they did the piercing, when they removed the earring and the second time they pierced. We had been through enough. Do not come here for piercing! We both cried today! I believe the first piercing was done by Pegah and second by Irma. Both have been negatively reviewed here. I wish I had checked yelp first! read more

The place is cute and had fun games and such to play with while waiting. We arrived early for our appointment to allow time for my little one to adjust and settle in, she often gets over stimulated when in new environments, especially fun ones. They did an amazing job letting her look around and get comfy, they even let her choose her own seat and show to watch while cutting her hair. My issue is with the actual hair cut, it wasn't very even in my opinion and then they put some gel goopy stuff in one front section of her hair to make a braid. Thank God I told them no glitter because they also wanted to put some gel type glitter in her hair, so she had a crusty braided patch of hair right up front. Ugh. Honestly I won't be back. This place is awful. We had an appointment, when we got there the hairstylist got my two year old in a car of his choice, but then spent the next 5 minutes gathering supplies at a snails pace. If there's one thing I know about toddlers it's that you should probably be set up ready to go before you get the kid strapped into the seat. He was so wiggly by the time she started. We asked her if we could change the program to Miss Rachel, twice. Don't think she heard us because we got no response. Our kid was whining so we just grabbed the remote and did it. We showed our stylist a photo of what we wanted, asking her to keep the length on the longer side, we ended up with a much shorter cut than intended. I had a sense she was just doing her own thing at one point and we were just going to get what we were going to get. My kid started to panic a bit so she asked my husband to hold his head straight while he cried the whole time. I'm not sure what was different than just going to super cuts or great clips in terms of care and attention for the kids. We ended up with a very asymmetrical haircut that looks super choppy. I was really upset. The folks working here are not perceptive. This place feels like a total sham and for being situated in this prime location of Carmel valley, I'm honestly surprised. There's a lot of decor there that I think they believe makes up for their crappy hairstylist. My kid is going to daycare looking like his mom cut his hair which is insulting to me because I think I can likely do a better job. I'll probably have to fix it myself tonight. I came here at the recommendation of a friend. It looks like kid heaven in there. Tons of TV screens, cool kids decor, seats that are cars or jeeps, little Knick knacks and hair accessories you can buy. We had booked with Kimberly, who I believe is a stylist and the manager, because she seemed to have the most/best reviews. But honestly, my husband and I were not impressed. I showed up 15 min early with my toddler, as instructed. Walked in and no one at reception bc stylists were busy with clients. Totally understandable. However, when someone came over after a minute (later found out it was our stylist/manager Kimberly because she never introduced herself), there was no "hello", "welcome", or "we'll be right with you". The first thing she said was "do you an appointment" as if if I didn't, then I needed to leave. Weird vibe, but okay. I see they haven't started cutting the client before us yet, because he was a little boy who was scared and crying. Again, totally understandable, but I got no courtesy or update from Kimberly that she'll probably be late. When my daughter finally sat down in a chair, it was almost 20 minutes past our appt time. So, in total we were waiting 35 min without any acknowledgement from our stylist about things running late or updates. Anyone with a toddler knows how hard keeping them waiting can be. We could have taken a walk, got some food for her nearby, or distracted her with the nearby shops/splash pad while we waited if we had been given any heads up when we checked in at the front desk. She didn't even tell us there were games in the back to keep her busy/entertained while we waited- we only saw after we got taken back there for my daughter's haircut after already waiting for a while! On top of that, the actual haircut took a whopping 10 min. All she did was trim her edges and add in a little layering. I honestly could have done that myself. She added a braid in my daughter's her hair with a ribbon, and she got a balloon. I get that my daughter is 2 years old so not too much styling involved, but I think Kim could have been more precise and spent more time on it. My daughter was also super well behaved (with the help of a huge TV screen in front of her), so that wasn't an issue. Kim just seemed like she couldn't be bothered and wasn't even very nice with us as parents, let alone our daughter. Out the door, we paid $44. $38 for the actual service, $6 for 15% tip. Honestly, I should have just tipped less because of how poor our service was. Needless to say, I will not be returning regardless of how cool the decor is - the service and the price you pay for it is a big rip off. I expected high prices for a bougie kids salon in Del Mar/Carmel Valley, but I also expect much better service for those prices. read more
