This review is for the salon only; there's a tattoo shop in the back half of the space. Love Linh as my hair stylist, we vibe well and I always leave there loving the way my hair looks! The shop is very aesthetic and well kept, and I feel comfortable during my appointments. All of the staff are so nice and I never feel uncomfortable. Scheduling is easy and the prices for their services aren't bad. If you're looking for a new stylist, I highly recommend reaching out to the shop so they can set you up with the right stylist to accomplish your hair goals. read more

Came back again and booked a partial blonde for a peekaboo appointment and Casey didn't disappoint! Booking an appointment was easy and she understood all the things I wanted done to my hair. She gave me realistic expectations and didn't sugar coat anything. I had previously dyed my hair permanent black and she was able to blonde my hair without leaving any patches while still keeping my hair healthy. Appointments are long (mine was 8~ hours) but worth the time. Reasonably priced for long hair cuts and blonding. read more

This was my second time coming here - first was with Casey, and the second was with Nicole. Both times I've had amazing service and they both colored my hair a nice purple! This time I asked for a more shaggier, layed haircut, and my request was perfectly fulfilled :) First pic is with after I styled it with a flat iron, and the second one was a pic right after getting home from the salon. Thank you Casey for always doing a wonderful job with my Pinky hair! Casey has nailed my pinky formula. I've had consistent visits with Casey every 6-8 weeks. Whenever I need a length trim or bang trim she always takes great care of me. All of the other staff are attentive and friendly as well. All of the booths, wash stations, bathroom etc are kept clean. I found Casey through a friend's Instagram and on Yelp. She's been my go to Hair Stylist for the past few years. Casey has always done such an amazing job with every style I request. From a simple wolf cut with bangs to a lavender balayage, I honestly feel there's no hairstyle she can't do. I'm always so happy every time I leave the salon. In addition, the whole salon makes you feel welcome. I feel like I'm always coming in just to hang out with really chill people. Tokyo Blaq is my favorite salon and I would recommend this place (and Casey) to anyone looking to get the hair style of their dreams. read more

Casey did an amazing job with my cut and color! I booked a consultation first since my hair had grown out, and I had a lot of questions that wanted to discuss with her. I felt very comfortable talking with Casey about what to expect for how long the appointment would take, the cost, hair care, etc. When it came time for the appointment, she was kind, attentive and patient, and I felt thankful for the hours of work she put in and making sure everything went smoothly and that my hair stayed healthy for how light it was going. Omg this 5 star review is for Aleigh!!! Literally the best stylist I've ever gone to. I set an appointment for 10am and left the salon at 7pm so if you're coming in to dye your hair (moreso bleach), bring some snacks or entertainment because you will be there for some time! I sent Aleigh some inspo pics through Instagram DMs and she gave me a quote and I was able to book an appointment w her through their website. I came in and the receptionist Nicole was so sweet and offered me tea, coffee, or water as I sat down. I met with Aleigh immediately and we went over some logistics and talked through my vision for my hair. She was realistic with me about what she can accomplish and gave me detailed run down of how color works (which I appreciate so much). I told her that I had a bad experience w a prior bleach job as my previous hairstylist was able to turn me platinum in one session without telling me the consequences or caring about the aftermath of my hair quality. With that being said, Aleigh promised me she'll make sure not to push my hair more than it's able to handle and I appreciate it sooooo much. Aleigh is very detail-oriented and even though I had a general idea of what I wanted, she gave me some ideas of what she thinks would make it even better and I'm so glad I trusted her with my hair bc it turned out better than I expected!! She was very transparent with me about every step she took so I wasn't left wondering what was next. The final cost ended up being a little more than the original quote but I was so happy with my hair and service and the fact that my hair was not fried that I happily paid the price. She also recommended me hair products to use to maintain my hair color and silkiness. Aleigh is the sweetest and best stylist I've been to!! I def am glowing from my new hair. I'll be back if (or moreso when) I decide to go even lighter or add even more dimension into my hair. Be sure to book with her. read more

Came here for a cut and color with Casey. I had a great experience and got exactly what I asked for! I had been trying out different salons in SD for a couple of years now but haven't really committed to one to go to regularly. I decided to try out this place based on the good reviews on Yelp. The photos in these reviews and on their IG inspired me to try out color for the first time (ever!) so I easily booked a consultation on their website. I met with Casey and the consultation was easy and straightforward. I had inspo photos on the ready, she took notes to make sure she didn't miss anything, and I was able to book the actual appointment the following week after paying a deposit. The color and cut process took about 4 hours and it was very chill. Casey is very easy to talk to and I felt comfortable the whole time. I've been going to Aleigh at Tokyo Blaq for a while now. She always does a wonderful job with my pixie cut. She listens to what I want and communicates well. She also has a real eye for detail and is a perfectionist. Recently, Aleigh did a bold color transformation for me. It's amazing! She took my dark brown hair to a pastel, silvery-purple. My hair still feels good and the color shimmers. Even cooler, is that she planned ahead so it will fade out to a shimmer silver/white color with purplish roots due to the toner. The color did take a while, but the vibe is really chill, and Aleigh is a great conversationalist. I was also able to read when there was some waiting time, so I got some work done while I was there. read more

I came to Tokyo Blaq salon for the first time to get my bangs cut, and I am very impressed! There is a parking lot with some reserved for the salon, so it is not hard at all to find parking. The salon is pretty roomy as well. Upon coming in, I was greeted and helped. Aleigh did my bangs, and she listened to what I wanted and gave suggestions for how it can better suit my hair. She really took her time and explained everything she did, and I really loved how well the bangs blended in with the rest of my hair. My new go-to spot if I ever need anything done for sure. I always come here for my haircuts and Casey is the one to always cut my layers! Today, I didn't need to show a picture of what haircut I wanted. I just described my hair type and face shape and asked for layers, and she understood. Someone else curled my hair, and both she and the intern were super nice to talk to. I've been going to this salon for at least a year now, and I always leave feeling refreshed! Booking appointments with them is super easy and I highly recommend getting a consultation from the stylist before making any drastic changes with your hair, which is what I decided to do. I had a consultation with Casey, since this was my first time getting my hair done by her. I wanted to add a fantasy color to my hair again and I noticed she did vivids really well from her Instagram photos. We went over my hair history and I showed her some inspiration pics before our next appointment. At the next appointment, Casey executed everything so well!! The berry color pops so beautifully against my dark hair. I appreciate the time and energy she put into my hair (holy 7 hours bc of my super thick hair lol). Thank you again so much Casey! Got long layers with face framing layers by Casey and I am sooo happy with the results!! This was my first styled haircut as I usually get simple trims, so I wanted to make sure I got what I liked. She was gentle and took her time with the haircut, I didn't feel like she was rushing or anything. She trimmed the amount I requested--which I feel like can be a hit or miss with some hair stylists. You can 100% trust Casey to take care of your hair needs. My hair was completely natural coming in, and I wanted something subtle yet noticeable (aka I'm a conundrum). I am so happy with the result!! It was exactly what I wanted, I can't recommend this place enough. Shout out to Casey for taking care of me! I really wanted a purple belayage and I made the grave mistake of going to this one salon nearby me instead of this one first...needless to say, it looked nothing like what I wanted and they had the audacity to gaslight me saying they did it right. So I was really sad about my hair and wanted to feel beautiful again. After the first session, I was looking a lot better. I was so shocked how Casey was able to fix my hair. I have been looking to dye my hair for a little while now and found this salon on yelp. I went in for a consultation with Casey and she explained to me the process and really understood what I was looking for. After the consultation, I set my appointment to come back. In between & before coming back, I was chatting with Casey via instagram and sending her reference photos. When the day came, it was a long one for sure but surprisingly went by really quickly. I started at 9:20ish and left around 5:30pm. Keep in mind, I have black hair and needed to bleach and color along with a haircut. Everyone at the salon was extremely nice :) Casey talked with me every step of the way. The end result ..WOW my hair turned out beautiful! After a botched bleaching from a different salon, I immediately called Tokyo Blaq and Jasmine was the one to answer my call. I explained to her the situation and she was very educational and sweet about what she can do to help. She gave me a deep conditioning as well as a recoloring for my hair. Throughout the process on my appointment she was explaining what was happening and making sure I was satisfied with the results. Even after the appointment when I had questions she was quick to respond to them! She was so amazing, I highly recommend her!! I will definitely be coming back to her for future hair appointments! read more

Cool spot where the owner Mike also features his other business the Good Company Golf Club (will have to check out their sim another time). About 15 minutes later I was led back by my artist Zhu who was patient with the tweaks I wanted to make and communicated clearly the process. After 45 minutes my small piece was done and she also explained the after care instructions thoroughly. Cash only for their tattoo services but they have an atm in the waiting area for convenience.

People would come in and everyone in the shop knew who they were and they were making plans for a community block party for the 4th. Seeing and hearing that made me so happy cause not only are they talented but they are down-to-earth and wants the best for everyone who visits them.

He was quick to respond and asked for a $200 deposit, which I sent via Apple Pay on March 5 to the shop owner. We booked for March 16. Leading up to the appointment, he would send random updates on the design, but nothing was finalized. I gave feedback and stayed patient, even knowing they had a Friday the 13th event going on. I didn't hit him up again until March 15 (the day before my appointment) because we STILL didn't have a finished design, which is wild. He tells me he'll have it done that day. Cool. Then a few hours later, I get a generic email saying my appointment is canceled. No explanation. Nothing. So I reach out to the number I sent my $200 to asking for a refund, and instead of handling it like professionals, they get confrontational and start acting like I'm the problem for asking for MY money back. They try to hide behind a "no refund" policy... even though THEY canceled on me. Make that make sense. I added my conversation with the artist, since the owner wants to claim harassment. Judge for yourself. No policy was ever clearly shown to me, and communication was trash the entire time. Instead of owning their mistake, they blamed me and got disrespectful. I only got my money back after I told them I'd file a chargeback with my bank and take them to small claims court. Go read their bad reviews--you'll see a pattern, especially with how the owner talks to customers. Super unprofessional. Save your time, save your money, and go somewhere else.

I understand that everybodies anatomy is different and it could cause a slight tilt on the piercing but it's been weeks since I got the piercing and looking at it now with no more swelling or redness it is almost ridiculous how off the piercing is. It's very obvious and disappointing how crooked it is. I even went home to my home piercer and even he left a comment saying that it was done very poorly. Loved the service and friendliness but unfortunately Im going to take out the piecing let it heal and then get it redone somewhere else. I want to prefaced that I really hate leaving a bad review and I tried to convince myself that it was fine but honestly just the comments I get from my friends and even another piercer about how it looks just kind of made me feel like I needed to share my honest experience.

I want to say that this nail salon is not my regular salon. The one I go to was closed for the day…read moreand I didn't have time to go anywhere else. I went in for a classic pedicure and asked for her to file my nails and change the color, that's it! The technician was nice so I feel bad leaving this review, but the way she removed the gel from my toes was awful! She filed it down, put acetone and let it sit for a bit. Then she proceeded to peel off the old gel and tore the corner of my nail OFF. She then proceeded to say I had thin nails! I've been getting gel pedicures for a while now and NEVER has anyone tore a piece of my nail OFF! As a technician, even if my nail was thin she could of used a machine to remove the gel instead of tearing it off the way she did. I was so upset! She tried to tell me she would add a piece, which I declined so I just told her to cut what she could without leaving my nail too short. I will never return here. Maybe some folks like this method of removal but I did not and will not be returning for a pedicure. I will add the chairs were comfortable and I also got a gel manicure which he added so many layers too! There was one lady too that came by and was just talking to the technician who did my nails and the vibe just felt uncomfortable! I will never return!

I just called to book a mani and pedi separately and this is something I've done before and was met with attitude. I understand Fridays are busy but the tone was rude and dismissive. When I agreed to just a manicure the response was a sarcastic "thank you." First impressions are the reveal and this one said everything. If this is how repeat customers are treated over the phone it's clear long term business isn't a priority. They've lost a customer and I won't be recommending this place to anyone.

When my nail technician completed my manicure, she announced, "same!" as if she declared out-loud my powdered pearlescent nails are now magically transformed into the requested nude chrome color. I wish they would've told me upfront that this cannot be done. I would not request for anything out of the basic mani pedi here.
