a glass of wine on a wooden table

Have lived in Sonoma County since 1984 so this was not our first rodeo visiting a winery by any means. The limited hours are explained by Brian, the owner, being an actual farmer who is in the vineyards with his team regularly. There is not "tasting room" or staff (at least on weekdays) to speak of. Gorgeous outside area more than makes up for it. Excellent wines, many that you won't find around here. It reminded me of old time Sonoma County wineries back in the day that lacked pretention and yet were gorgeous, memorable, and "real." Can't recommend a visit highly enough...unless you enjoy pretention. Brian is worldly and the funnier for it. He was a hoot. We have 150 or so bottles of wine in our "wine closet" yet we brought 6 bottles back we enjoyed them so much. See you next year Brian.

Brian greeted us as we came up the drive. He is very personable and takes time with every guest, even squirting water on a couple of kids. It was very enjoyable. The tasting area is beautiful, right in the vineyard. All the wines were very good.

We visited last summer and were driving through the Ashland area again and knew we had stop by for a tasting. Brian is such a treat! His Zimbabwean accent has the same effect as Morgan Freeman's - everything's just better! You're captivated by his story-telling and love for the wine. The wine is divine as well! The Cabernet Franc is our favorite but we came home with 4 bottles: Cab Franc, Cab Sav, Malbec and Tempranillo. Beautiful views of mount Ashland and the Rogue Valley below make for quite the stimulation for your eyes, ears, and palette.

Brian made this an amazing experience for us. Sampled some terrific wines and enjoyed the spectacular vistas of Ashland hills. Definitely will go back. Five stars any day of the week!

Great scenery. We had the rosé and sat in the shade and it was so relaxing. The owner was so friendly and accommodating. This was my first time here and I highly recommend!

Leaving the tasting room and heading back to parking.

The music stage and grassy area looked lovely. The cons: The food was just ok. It was ala carte, pricey and you had to order it at the counter and then pick it up and take it to your table, also bus your table when finished. So basically they had no host, server and one guy bussing if he had to. We had to find where our reserved table was ourselves. The tables and chairs were plastic with no table cloth so it felt undressed and unthoughtful. We had to search for salt and pepper on other tables and every table didn't have them. We asked for ketchup and the guy said he would look for some when he wasn't busy. He did finally slap a big bottle down on the table well after we were finished. Normally on any other day, I wouldn't have a problem serving myself but it was Mother's Day. I did not want to do all that. I hope for them in the future, they make the Mother's Day Brunch better staffed and thoughtful for the mothers and families who come. Perhaps, instead of their usual food service style, they could alter it to make it feel less self service on Mother's Day. We gave it a try and we won't be going back for Mother's Day.

Their roughly two acre garden is full of beautiful flowers and trees (see the pictures!) and the perfect escape from city life. It's paradise and I highly recommend anyone to stay there who is looking for a beautiful getaway near Ashland and its surrounding areas. The owner's, Annette and Brian, are wonderful hosts and pour their heart and soul into the place. They are extremely friendly and their hospitable touches are everywhere. The spacious studio, which is actually more like a one bedroom, is nicely arranged with books, local information, and decorations. They provide all the morning necessities like coffee, tea, and breakfast food. You'll feel right at home! On the property, there is also a very quaint wine tasting room that is leased by the winery adjacent to their property called Pebblestone Winery. The wine is very good, but it's the setting and hospitality that will make your trip memorable. Apparently, they can host weddings, a wondeful place for a special event. Wisteria is perfectly located to reach the surrounding area. It's an easy 10 minute drive to downtown Ashland. The drive to historic Jacksonville is about 15 minutes drive through some amazing, rolling vineyards. My only regret about writing this review is letting my secret out. I'm sure next time I go I will need to book months in advance.
