Got takeout from this neighbourhood spot and gotta say, the shawarma plate (5/5) will have me coming back a lot. It is soooo tasty and flavourful and the portion size was great and the toppings were fresh (except the pickle it tasted super salty and texture was a bit weird). but otherwise, I am a fan! The beef kabob plate (2/5) on the other hand was a miss. The plate came with two kabobs and they were dry and slightly sour note? It just wasn't hitting the spot and wasn't juicy and tender or flavourful like I expected. The rice and salad were good though. I used to go there every other week since I found one of the employee dishonest with me. I ordered a Shawarma sandwich and received a pre-made one apparently belonged to someone who didn't pick up. They always ask their customers of the toppings that they want but this time i got the sandwich with no chance of selecting any dressing or topping. Also, the sandwich was too cold. Stopped in for a quick solo lunch. I was so pleased to see they had fresh shawarma spinning. I went for the shawarma salad so that the keto gods would bless me with a six pack. Near home, so I wanted to give it a try. The shawarma was pretty good however I was turned off by something in particular. As they were making my plate, a piece of lettuce fell off the plate. The employee then proceeded to pick it up and put it back on my plate. I don't care how clean your counters are, you DO NOT do that. Probably won't come back here. I went twice now. The first time I had chicken shawarma and although it was really tasty, the pita fell apart and tore while I was eating it. The second time I tried ordering the bolani and was told they don't have it. I thought that was odd and was disappointed. I was thinking they didn't want to make it. It's their first item on the menu and I'm told they "ran out." I ended up getting eggplant borani and chicken shawarma plate. Borani was small portion and is supposed to come with fresh tomato but didn't have any & I don't think worth $6.99. It was very yummy though. I ordered a shawarma plate here because of the other positive reviews I read about this place. Contrary to what other people said, I did not find good value for what I paid for the shawarma plate. Price - The foam container that was used has separators inside, so they're unable to give you a lot of food. I've paid $9.99 for double the amount at other places. Service attitude - The lady working there (who's probably the owner) had a very bad attitude towards me. She glared at me from head to toe when I was placing my order. She had a better attitude towards the customer who placed his order after me. Taste - The food does not taste as good as I had expected it to. First, there is a lack of sauce, which caused me to eat the remaining rice dry. Second, there was a curry taste to it for some reason, unlike any other shawarma I've had before. For people who enjoy spicy foods, this is probably not a good option since the hot sauce they used did not have any kick to it. The food is okay but the lady at the counter was so arrogant and rude. Her name is Ria/Rhea . I asked for a jalapeno on the side because the guy who prepared my 4 shawarma's put only a piece of jalapeno in each shawarma. She told me the next time I ask for extra jalapeno that I will have to pay for it and specifically told me that they are running a business as if she intends to give me a lecture and asking if I understand what she's saying! As a business owner myself, I feel disrespected by her comment. After our discussion, I refused to get the "FREE" 4 or 5 pcs. of jalapeno and she threw it in the garbage while looking at me. Elias, where have you been all my life?!? Good shawarma is hard to come by in the burbs so I had high hopes the first time I ordered from Elias. Let me tell you... You. Will. Not. Be. Disappointed! The food here is SO good and SO SO cheap! I love that I can get a full takeout container of shawarma plate for $9.99 plus delivery and tip! They pile on the meat and the sauces galore. Such flavorful tasty food with a nice side of salad/tomatoes/tabouli/pickled turnip to balance it out. I haven't been super impressed with the naan but that may be because it's better served fresh at the restaurant. Stick with the shawarma plate and you're gold. This is the second time in the row you guys have charged $2 on rice even though your menu says rice comes along with the order of kabob. your order taker goes through the order of what u get and then when you pay you add in extra $2 for the rice that comes with it. If you servers cannot understand than you need to change the server not the customers!!!! Also when your menu says chicken thigh and you offer kabob that's wrong advertising and then if asked why the difference I was told that's what we have. Why wasn't I told when I made the order? Plus the 1st week their food portions were a lot now they have become very stingy. Feel like their family and friends have upped the ratings here and on google. Seems local, came in on a Friday at 9PM and ordered their special to try out their food. There are booths as sitting areas but I ordered take out. The beef kofta and tandoori chicken were too salty. The beef tikka was seasoned good, but chewy and overcooked. The naan....was hard on the outside like a deep fried crunchy bread. The basmati rice was okay, but not the really fragrant kind at a local restaurant I used to enjoy back at London, ON. The salad, was with a simple dressing. This place is not good at all. Got the eggplant and mantu appetizers and beef kabobs and tandoori chicken as mains. Every single thing lacked in flavor. The most disappointing was the tandoori chicken, the chicken was basically 5-6 pieces of boneless chicken thighs on a skewer and every single piece of chicken was mostly fat. It was so gross I threw most of it out as it was not edible. The rice also had a funky smell to it. The portions are extremely small and way too pricey for the amount of food and the lack of flavor. Disappointed with the food and the service. They are very busy so they don't care a lot about customers. Asked for the price of pops they didn't answer then charged me $2.49 for each bottle, they didn't have menus to take to the car for the family to choose from. I arrived at 7:45pm, the time I came back after consulting the menu online, they told me we are closed then accepted my order... As for the food, only 2 of the 4 pieces of lamb were tender, the other plates were just OK. The salads were tiny and not good. I was horrified and embarrassed. Today I walk into Elias to have lunch with my son-- as my son had asked me to lunch and had saved up his allowance to pay. I was surprised to see that I we were ignored as my family and I are regular customers both eating in and take out. As a matter of fact I wasn't served until the owner pointed out that we were waiting. When asked what I wanted to order I proceed to order the student special shawarma wrap for my son and a regular shawarma wrap and drink for myself. The lady looked at me and said 'no student special, full price, no school today' I replied 'he's a student'. She said 'only on weekdays' and I pointed out that it was Friday afternoon. She then rudely said 'no school today, holiday'. This was the very first day of March break. I was shocked. My son who deals with anxiety issues recoiled in embarrassment. So unfortunately it best that we left. I did take him downtown to Safaryan shawarma and Kebobs who on top of regular specials are offering March break specials for students all week as do many others are as well. This is a new place in town offering afghan cuisine. We ordered takeout for a family get together and were very satisfied with the customer service and especially the food.
