I've visited this place a couple of times and most recently I had a good experience. I called in first asking if I could get a kabob wrap but add an extra kabob inside the wrap. The person said no on the phone, but it was late and it was the only place I could get something protein heavy after a good workout. So I said it's cool, I went and ordered the tandoori chicken wrap on whole wheat with an extra chicken seehk skewer on the side. It wasn't busy because it was a weeknight and it was around 10:30pm, but the food was being freshly made, which I appreciate. Before packaging the meal, seems like the counter person recognized my voice and asked if I wanted the extra skewer in the wrap, which I said yes please. So main mission accomplished lol, it was either them or me that was going to do it, so I didn't let it bug me. When I opened the wrap and took my first bite, it was perfect. Great tang on the yogurt sauce, beautiful mix of ground chicken and tandoori chicken in a fresh wrap. It was great. It's exactly what I needed after the workout. The food was delicious and I recommend the food here. So why the 4 stars? Because although I don't sweat the small stuff, someone who does, could've easily chose not to come here due to the response over the phone, and they would've missed out. Sure that's a them problem, but it's also the difference between critical thinking and being a robot. For me, I'll potentially be a once a week regular, maybe twice a week guy after a workout to get a post workout meal. But if a business doesn't capitalize on that initially, then that's a miss on their part. Simply an area of opportunity to better prepare for. Anyways, hopefully you guys try this place, it's really good and really fresh. read more

I was doing my Toronto to Kingston run and stopped at this Costco strip mall when I passed this restaurant. I ended up getting the chefs special and it was fantastic! Well beyond nd expectations. The chicken was tender, juicy and flavorful and the rice was very interesting. There was also a meat patty that had a lot of herbs and was flavorful. I finally tried this place after passing by many times after my weekly Costco trips. I purchased the daily platter special which included a minced chicken kebab, a beef chapli, rice, and a salad. The salad was pretty good. Much better than some other places that give you plain lettuce with a slice of tomato. The sauce is flavourful with a mayonnaise-like texture. The sauce was a bit too thick, but this is a minor issue. The minced chicken was flavourful and moist. The beef chapli was flavourful but a bit dry for my taste. I would probably not choose to order that again and opt for a different meat. The hot sauce provided was a bit different than other places in that it was a bit sweet compared to other places, so you may or may not like that depending on your taste. The heat level is a nice medium. I enjoyed it but did wish is was a bit less sweet. The rice was really good. It was more flavourful than several other Afghani restaurants in the area. The portion was good and is more than enough for one person, but with that said other places do give you more. There was no flat bread included that other places normally include. I did not mind this though as I am usually too full to eat it anyways. The food was cooked to order and served within 10 minutes and the order taker was friendly. I finished the entire thing and will be returning. The only minor negative was that there were no utensils in the bag when I opened it up, but that is not a deal breaker. read more

I've been trying to explore more Durham restaurants and have come across some good ones. This place caught my attention a while ago and tonight was the time to try it. I had intended to order some kind of kabob but the lamb shank for 13.99 kinda grabbed my attention. That's it! I ordered and paid at the counter and the food was delivered to my table. The portion was bigger than I expected, especially for the price. The meat was moist and tender, almost falling off the bone. It had a lot of flavour. The seasoned rice was very good too. So was their hot sauce, kinda similar to a salsa. I can honestly say it was the best lamb shank I've had for 13.99. In fact, it's the only lamb shank I've had for that price. Excellent value! The food was very good and deserves a higher overall rating but there's one thing that I can't ignore. This place was hot! I was sweating like crazy and it wasn't caused by the hot sauce. Outside was considerably cooler. I'll order takeout next time. read more

Grabbed a quick chicken kabob pita sandwich to go and it was a ok. Not sure why the decor is so over the top at this place (think fireplace, dark dining room, crystal balls hanging from the ceiling...etc) since the menu doesn't strike me as a fancy, sit-down kind of joint. They have extensive take out menu which I may try out sometime. The take out menu is not all "Afghan" and I'm not sure if that would make the quality of their food suffer. Durham region is quickly changing. The diversity and culture in this region is nice to see. With all that culture comes the food of course. On a Friday night, tired of the usual, decided to try this place. I have always had good experiences with other Afghan places , such as Bamiyan Kabob in Scarborough and Maimana Naan down the street. I love afghan food so it should be a win..win. This place wasn't very business. It was clean and the decor was quite nice. I ordered the Beef & Chicken Kebab dinner. My wife ordered the Beef Seekh Kebab. The girl at the counter told us that one dinner wouldn't be enough for two people. We did want to share, but after hearing her advice we ordered two. Big mistake!!! Or a good mistake depending on how you might look at it. The portions are huge!! But it was also very tasty, we ordered the dogh drink as well. It's a must have in a place like this. Pathetic service. I tried ordering through Uber eats. They accept the order and the status changes to preparing order. 5 minutes later they send a message that the item is sold out. I choose a replacement and place the order. 5 minutes later they message again that this item is sold out too. This happens thrice in matter of 20 mins. They end up wasting 20 minutes at 10:45 pm. Other restaurants close for order at 11 pm and we need to spend the night eating wafers. Will never even think of ordering again read more

I brought my family here to try a different cuisine that they'd never had before. I was excited... they were nervous. The staff were ultra welcoming and explained everything to them. This is probably my favourite Afghani restaurant in the Durham region. We always get the Beef Tikka and Chicken Kabob combo dinner to share, which comes with the two skewers, rice, salad, and naan. Staff gladly provides extra cutlery and plates when requested. Food is very fresh and tasty. Something about the rice is so satisfying. Bottled pop is overpriced. If I coule give this place -100 I would. It was my first time trying their food and I placed an order worth $50, which to me was quite large. I was having a dinner with some family and decided to try something new. I brought home my order which was chicken kebabs and some sides and saw that I got some beef kebabs mixed in with the chicken ones. Considering my family is of a strict religious background and doesn't eat beef the food would have had to be thrown out. I called the place and spoke to the manager and he said no problem bring it back. So I had to drive 15 min back to this place to show him the food and the mistake and he refused to give me back my money. He said he would take out the beef kebabs (which had touched the chicken kebabs) and replace them with chicken ones. I said no thanks I would like my money back. And he started to yell at me infront of other customers. So at this point I was so mad and put off by the customer service, I just settled to take the new chicken kebabs. He packed up my food and then sent me on my way and also gave a free rice pudding type dessert. Well I have to say I was so shocked when my mom dumped out the rice pudding into the sink (because she heard the story about the customer service and refused to eat any of the food) and saw a CHEWED piece of white GUM sitting in the sink strainer!!!!!! I will never EVER buy from here again and I will tell everyone to avoid this place. Disgusted. They spit their gum in my dessert! read more

This is a brand new restaurant in Ajax. It offers a variety of meal options that are 100% Halal. Their combos are reasonably priced and have a few family deals advertised on their menu. If you have a smaller appetite you can purchase kebabs or sides a la carte. The restaurant itself has a friendly atmosphere with spacious seating. It is in a strip mall and the parking lot is shared with a Costco and The Keg. Spots can be hard to come by. It is definitely worth a try if you're in the area. read more

This is a new restaurant that recently opened. It's in the same plaza with Costco and next to Bank of Montreal. It offers several meal options that are Halal and pricing is reasonable. We have come here a few times and ordered the chicken kabob wraps. The wraps are well made with chicken breast kabob meat marinated and grilled with salad and garlic sauce. The meat inside is moist and tasty. The staff warmly greet you when you walk in. Hopefully they keep at it so we can continue coming :) read more

This place looks lovely inside. I was looking for rice and salad and some vegetables. I asked if the dinners come with rice and salad, and the person taking my order confirmed. So I ordered the mixed vegetable dinner. When it comes out it's a large container of rice, naan, and a side of curried vegetables. I asked the person who took my order about salad and she said the mixed vegetables doesn't come with salad, only the meat dinners come with salad. She said she could give me more rice. What they had provided was already probably 3 servings of rice. I noted that I specifically asked for salad when I ordered, and therefore was not interested in more rice. She did nothing to make it better which was disappointing. The hot sauce they serve is great, like a pickled spicy condiment. The (abundant) rice was tasty, and the curried veg was satisfactory, not something I would return for. I really just wanted some salad. lol If the owner reads this I would make the following recommendations: - more clarity on the menu to what constitutes a "dinner", perhaps more training for employees about customer service - tell the girls up front to chat less, and pay attending to making customers happy their priority. There was me and another couple in the restaurant. When their food came up, instead of bringing it to their table they just yelled out the number. If I can tell who's food it is, the people working the counter should go the extra 5 steps and just bring over their food - when a staff coughs or sneezes into their sleeve, they should still go wash their hands instead of continuing what they're doing Overall, I would give this place another try and be VERY clear about what I want and what I'm getting. read more

I was so disappointed when I tried this place, ordered a whole bunch of food and got fries on the side er decided to take it to go..we ordered take out bad idea as I got home and open the fries it was disappointing, I literally paid 3 dollars for 5 fries. And the food, was literally disgusting. I've been too many afghan places to eat. I would never recommend this place!
