Not only are they rude and over charge for lenses but the same person that sell you the over priced items can also provide you with eye exams. Not sure if they are licensed to provide these exams but when you finally do receive your glasses, good luck with trying to have them correct it. I have yet to hear from them for warranty purchased. My prescription had expired, but all I needed was a disposable pair to get me thru a couple of days until I could make time to renew it. This should be an easy problem to solve, right? WRONG!!! I bought a pair of prescribed glasses for almost $300.00, and a pair of sunglasses for $500.00(also prescribed). I have never been able to wear the sunglasses because the lens was never made properly. I took them back for them to check it out and they said that by mistake they inverted the measurement, but even like that I can't wear them still not wright. In other words, I wasted $500.00 on something useless. I will never recomend that place to nobody. Very sad and disappointed. read more

From looking at the outside of this place, and the neighborhood it's in, you'd never guess the great selection and service you'll find on the inside. My family has been coming to this place for 25 years ... yup, that's right, 25 years! I got my first pair of glasses when I was 6 and this is where I got them (in their old, smaller location of course). I went in 2 days ago looking for some Dior glasses and Chanel sunglasses and their selection did not disappoint. Before going, I went to 8 other opticals in the Kendall/Pinecrest area and NO ONE could come close to the selection. I will say there is only 1 downside to Elio's ... the fact that they do not deal with insurance/vision plans. The price they say is the price they say ... no discounts or buy one get one free deals. read more

I had an amazing experience at Elio's Optical Vision Center. I found it through Yelp, called about 7 Optical Centers in my area and visited 3. They had the best prices in town for eye exams, for contact lenses, they gave me samples and had unbelievable customer service!!! :) I really loved it. And the doctor was amazing as well. We are visiting Miami for a month and my daughter had an eye problem and couldn't wear contacts. After yelping around for a one day eyeglass place I found Elios. I think the woman who patiently waited on my 18 year old daughter who thought she wanted " old man glasses" name was Marlene or Maureen. In any case she didn't push her towards the most expensive glasses, she listened to her criteria and was exceptionally patient. This is not a fancy neighborhood. They have a large parking lot and probably 6 very professional people working both times we were there. The eyeglass selection is amazing. So much better than a lenscrafters or the place I gave a negative review of in Mary Brickell. They have every high end brand I could think of and they had a great selection of hipster, funky, artsy glasses of all shapes and colors. There was no upcharging. They didn't have ten extras they charge you for at the end. For $200 including her strong prescription and anti-glare we walked away very satisfied( even the 18 year old). The place was packed with people waiting but you'd think someone in the front desk would greet you to get a ticket or something. Nothing. I decided to chalk it up to being a busy day. I was wrong. Walked in at around 4 pm a month later and there was only one body getting her glasses checked. An older guy walked in before me and the same older lady in the front acknowledged him. She directed him to his pick up but didn't even raise her glance at me once while I stood in front of her desk for a 5 minutes while she wandered about. She had a bad mood look on her face. The worse experience I have had with glasses have been this time at Elio's Optical even we are clients there since many many years ago, we were waiting for my glasses 3 months with no consistent reasons offered for the employees. The lack of professionalism was manifested all the time. I was told by phone that my glasses were ready to pick up and when I arrived there, they told me that was a mistake . The person who took care of my case demonstrated how unprofessional she is. They never called me to let me know my glasses were ready. I was always the one called to know all the time, until the last day, it was a nightmare, they promised me to give a case , same brand I bought for free at the time of pick up my glasses and was a huge lie. I realized it was only to convinced me to buy the glasses( special brand), Cartier . They told me that for all the inconveniences , they will give me a discount at the time of pick up and was a lie also ,when I requested , the employee ( Maritza) just told me ..No, you paid all already . I specially DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone go there . Very bad customer service, the worse I have seen in my eyes glasses experience . I will never go to that place again and if you don't want to have the horrible experience I had do not visit that place in Miami. read more

I Am an Elios customer since 2003,i live in Kendall so I used to spend the whole day waiting there but the results were always awesome and very affordable prices ,the customer service used to be amazing ,I don't know what happened (I think they sold it ,the owner is not Elio anymore ,whish is ok with me as long as the service remains the same or better )This time I went back again for my annual check up with 2 more family members, I have to say that the waiting time is better because is by appointment now ,besides that, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY we all got everything wrong ,the prescription ,the contact lenses order ,the color of the glasses, then we went back again to fix the problem , they got mad because we had to do everything again ,she asked me if I need contact she charged me and told that they will text me within two weeks to let me know that they are in store ,really????I don't leave close by ,can you please mail it to me? no we can't do that ,the color of my husband glasses were horrible they put a tint that he did not ask for , so when we told them to remove it she brought it back with less buy still had some ,we told you that it was clear ,she got upset again and told me that the machine was cold already that we have to wait until the following day the they will turn it back on again .then I received the famous text that the order was ready ,so we went back again ( 3rd time ) and guess what? ,everything was fixed but they still haven't received my contacts (one Day ) ,long story short I am still waiting for them to call me, she gave me 2 different types for me to try until I get mines, don't waste your time and money go somewhere else more professional and faster is not worth all the struggle for just something you can do anywhere and even online. read more

I had lot's issues with my eyes and really needed help with my situation. I have a prescription from Balscom Palmer and researched on the best doctor to help me with my problem. I had a head injury a while ago and had a l implant and a cataract removed do to surgery complication on my left eye and my prescriptions are very challenging. After spending a huge amount of time explaining my issues to eye glass stores and looking for a place that will guide me to the right frames and lenses, I was so amazed to find this place. Everything about these people is 100% honesty. From advising me that my current frame is not correct for my type of prescription (the lady that first help me on the prescription office told me that I did not need a new prescription, what I needed is a correct frame) how honest is that? She could had just charged me for the prescription and the advise anyway. Then I met Barbara, she was so patient and really cared that I had such a hard time at my job because I spend a long time in front of a computer and need my progressive lenses to feel comfortable. She did just that, she helped me find a comfortable pair of glasses that worked for me. Initially you may be intimated because everyone speaks Spanish, I started by trying to speak Spanish back and they told me that it was ok to speak English and they were both extremely fluent in English. This looks like a business that exists because it's reputation and customer service. There is no no nonsense here, just the service that our parents and grandparents experienced from local business. I just wish I would be treated this well everywhere I went. I will return over and over and will recommend this place to everyone I know. To the owner of this business I just want to tell you not to change anything EVER, you are doing everything right. I also lived that you are employing people that are not young and rude. I came in for a renewal of my contact Prescription took a number and sat down, they called me within a few mins and this very nice lady told me that I had 4 people in front of me waiting to see the optometrist. After she said "we will be taking lunch after he finishes with this one and we will be back in 30 mins". I don't understand how you could go to lunch with 4 customers waiting???? If they do have this rule they should close from 1230-1 for lunch hours so everyone is aware. I drove from very far to have nothing accomplish. Let me start by saying that i am so grateful for this place. my 2 college kids 20 and 21 do not fall under the florida guide lines for Obama care and i have to pay cash for their health care. I also do not have eye insurance for myself. Here you can get a good exam at a great price and they are honest. They have their own lab so they can charge less. Of cause you can buy expensive designer eyeglasses or you can do what i do get measured before you go buy you frames on eBay or amazon and they will fill in your prescription . The young lady Barbara was honest and I was not charged extra to give my reading glasses tint. This week I take my two college kids this summer for their annual eye exam and glasses. I am so glad there are still mom and pop operations left in this society. This place makes you feel like a human being and not just a number. I felt like i was back in jersey. Thanks to yelp I was able to find this place, as for my driving long distance glasses they are so honest i did not need a new prescription. I had my own Oakley frame. Went on a busy Saturday morning with my prescription in hand. They measured my DP and told me it would be 20 minutes to an hour. I was sooo very impressed with their customer service & the overall experience. I got an eye exam for just $35 and that included getting my eyes tested, checking the optic nerve functioning, getting my eye pressure checked and the optometrist also gave me an eye routine to follow for the health for my chronic migraines. I recently went to buy a pair of sunglasses and ended up purchasing new progressive lenses as well. The attention by Iris was superb. They had a great selection of modern models. Make sure you ask for Dr. Michael for the exam. He was very professional! Highly recommend to visit this optical. This place has the right idea! I had never experienced such efficiency at an optical office until I arrived at Elio's. Let me walk you through my experience. After finding this place on yelp, I kept reading reviews about the large selection of glasses and low costs associated with them as well as their eye exams. I decided to give it a shot. I had been worried my vision has been gradually deteriorating due to being an eternal student in my 30s. I have been putting off going to the eye doctor because of the back and forth in getting an exam, finding glasses and finally picking up the lenses. So I decided to buy a pair through Gilt and add my prescription on the same day the glasses would arrive. This can only be done at Elio's. You walk in, grab a ticket, and then meet with a doctor who will perform the eye exam. As soon as that was over, you inform him/her that you want the prescription added to a selected pair and they will be done very quickly. I walked across the street, grabbed a coffee and walked back to the optical to pick up the glasses. All in about an hour! The eye exam and adding the prescription to the glasses was about 70 dollars! A steal, people! Plus you get free UV coating when you check in. read more
