Another day, another bagel shop. Quick review. I honestly hate issuing negative reviews on small businesses. But.... These are particularly lousy bagels. Very doughy and undercooked. Ordered mine with "fresh" lox which wasn't all that fresh. Had a strong refrigerator taste. On a positive note the coffee was delicious. One star for the bagel and lox. If I could give zero stars I would!! I saw the reviews about the owner and I still decided to give this place a try and man were they right First off they shorted me on change by $1. I let it go because I figured the owners a dick just to avoid it. So I did. I ordered the lil Jackie which was supposed to be bacon egg whites cheese and hash browns. And my husband ordered the big boy Taylor ham eggs cheddar hash browns with chipotle mayo.... What we got was egg whites Taylor ham cheese and hasbrowns with the chipotle mayo and then the other was SAUSAGE eggs cheese hash browns. The owner at first refuseddddd to say he messed up then finally agreed he did. I stated I we can't eat sausage so we would have never ordered a sandwich with sausage and he goes oh but you can eat bacon yeah okay... which I replied it doesn't matter why I can't eat sausage verses what I can eat. I just want to be refunded. I paid with cash because of a previous yelp review and I asked how I'm going to get refunded he said he'd need the sandwich in order to refund me I said well I'm not coming back now and he goes okay when you come back bring the sandwich ... so you're telling me instead of making things right you rather make the customer wait when you Fu**ed up and not refund them?!???!!!!!!!! My husband didn't like how I was spoken to and went to bring the sandwich back. The owner of course left for the day magically after our call. If that's not a little scmofo idk what is. The owner has no respect for his business, his customers and clearly women. This owner needs to go to therapy or rehab to learn how to be a decent human being and run a business. i passed by this bagel place a lot, and never get a chance to stop by and try it out.. and finally... today is the day!!! It might be a small little house, but they offer a lot of different kinda of breakfast food... well, today i only got a bagel... but i am sure next time when i come, i will try the other item like breakfast sandwiches, or maybe even lunch!!! Do Not go here! Food may be alright, but they rip you off. I was charged on my debit card and given a receipt for one price, but my account was charged a higher amount. I bought bagels and cream cheese and butter for work. The receipt says I bought 2 soda's and not cream cheese and butter. Saw a new bagel shop open, complete with flags and everything heralding its new arrival, so I was excited to try a new place - but I sadly have to agree with the other reviews. I got a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a bagel - the cheese wasn't melted, there wasn't much Taylor ham or egg, and the bagel was more like baked white bread than a bagel. I'll try it again in the future to see if it comes around, but for now I'll give it a pass. read more

After being warned numerous times about the owner having very poor customer service, I still bought bagels from them. I gave them the benefit of the doubt as I never was there when this 'animal' was there. The other workers were always very pleasant. They would greet us with smiles and wish us luck at the days events. However something was different this morning. As my daughter and I walked in, I noticed another mom walking out with her 3 children with no food in their hands. We went in and waited in line to place our order. There was a gentleman that walked in after us. We were supposed to be next, however this other gentleman was served before us. Shocked I quietly asked this man (I believe the owner) why the other man who was after us was rung up before us. Misunderstanding what I said, he began to raise his voice at me. I tried to politely correct him telling him which gentleman I was referring to, and that was when he went into a yelling rage and snatched our two bagels and drink away from us. I then had to demand my money back from him that he already put in the register. Very disappointed in his lack of respect for women and his customers. It's a true shame, as his employees were great and respectful. I always give small businesses the benefit, however when I went to another bagel shop nearby, they were able to tell me exactly which bagel shop I had the poor experience in. 1st time reviewer because I felt I had to. I've been here a few times out of convenience (it's a 3 minute drive from my house) and was never thrilled about the product but today was the last time. At 9:00am on the day after thanksgiving I ordered 3 sandwiches and was informed that they did not have any everything, plain, or sesame bagels. The 3 most popular bagels were not available and the place was empty. I should have walked out then because it was clear the bagels that were available were from the day before. I got the 3 sandwiches home and opened mine up to find it ice cold, cheese not melted, Taylor ham barely cooked, and bagel stale. I think they attempt to cook things in advance which results in cold and tired food. I will not be returning here even though it is wildly convenient for me. I'll make the trek to Mountain Lakes Bagels or settle for Hot Bagels in Boonton in the future. read more

Years ago this place used to be #1 in montville. I come back home to visit my parents and went to go get an everything bagel TAYLOR HAM egg cheese SPK. Standard jersey boy. Not only was this ridiculously overpriced, it's like they had a seed shortage and decided to put 2 seeds on my bagel. My little sister mentioned she knew a girl that worked that a year or two ago and they directed her to hide the mold on tuna salad. Have had multiple bad experiences at this place as a doordasher. Not sure why i thought it would be any different ordering myself but tried this place out again. Called in an order for 3 bagels. When i arrived i was in line behind someone, after they were taken care of i was next in line right at the register. After about 5 minutes another customer walks in and is behind me in line yet the employee asks him what he needs first. Ok, my order should be ready since i called it in so i let that slide figuring right after that customer is done ordering the employee will come serve me at the register. Mind you, i clearly see my order is ready this entire time. Employee then goes into the back kitchen and disappears for another 5 minutes. I've now been in there over 10 minutes waiting for an order that is ready while other customers cut the line in front of me. Call the place and tell them and the owner says he is sorry, and I tell him I'm on the way. Get there and he is asking me for the empty sandwich back which was thrown away since there was literally nothing worth keeping. Now he decides the best course of action is to become aggressive/defensive and tells me he is not making me a new sandwich and that I needed to bring the worthless sandwich back so he could just add turkey too it. He turns around and gives me 6$ and tells me to get my own turkey. So he fucks up the order, I spend more time and gas driving back only to have this piece of shit tell me to get my own turkey. I walked into this establishment for the first and last time in my life. It was the most horrible, insulting and harassing experience. I ordered a plain bagel toasted with cream cheese only. Three gentlemen walked in behind me. The owner (the male in the pictures from yelp) helped two of the gentleman first and they were on their way. when he turns to me and asks what I else I want I let him know the bagel was all I wanted. I go to give him my payment via card or Apple Pay. He tells me they don't do charge because there is a $10 minimum. I look around bewildered because there is usually a sign up indicating this, there was nothing. I look at him and tell him I didn't know and he didn't let me know. he goes on to indicate it is "common sense to ask." I state he should put it up for customers to know. I go to walk out because I have no cash. He asks if I don't want it and I explain I don't have cash (who carries cash nowadays?) and tell him he was being rude because he kept arguing with me. He proceeds to berate and curse at me "you f***ing st**** b****! get the f*** out!..." and throw me out. mind you I was already trying to leave for a minute now but what got me the most that he was acting aggressive like he was going to come out of from behind the counter to get me out (I seriously felt in every inch of my body this man wanted to hurt me). I did tell him when I left "wow! you are a horrible person." This man's behavior/demeanor is abusive at best and borderline violent. He is in the wrong business if he can not handle being asked questions or any constructive criticism. If I were able to give it zero stars I would. terrible terrible terrible. read more

I walked in yesterday around 11am and walked right up to the counter to place my order - it was empty. Simple order, 2 bagels toasted with cream cheese, no special instructions. 2 people after me proceeded to order prepared sandwiches and be given their food while I waited. The SAME person who took my order then asked me if I needed to order, so I told her I already did. She actually asked me if I called in before she realized that she had my order written down and completely forgot about it. I was really going to give this a 2-star review, because I'd been going here off and on for the past 15+ years and their bagels were always good despite their bad service. Then I got home and opened my bagel to find that apparently whole wheat everything actually meant whole wheat nothing. I'd never seen so little seasoning on an everything bagel, I probably could've counted the granules on the top with 2 hands. That was just the tip of the disappointment iceberg, as one bite into the bagel almost cracked my teeth, as the exterior was hard and interior was firm. I'd expect this quality bagel from a supermarket or gas station. For comparison, this morning I had a 3-day old bagel someone brought me from a good bagel shop not near me, and it was light years better than the unseasoned brick that I got from Eli's. I have never written a one star review before but I have to warn people about this place. My wife and I have been touring all of the deli's in North Jersey looking for the perfect Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese on a bagel. Every weekend we go to a different place. This weekend we went here. The Bagel was very doughy, it had no airy fluffiness to it. Very flat. But the awful worst was the Taylor Ham. It was rancid. It probably had been bad for at least a few weeks. When I warned my wife after the first bite (she had already bitten into hers) she looked inside of hers and sure enough, her Taylor Ham was tinged yellow as well. We had that taste in our mouths for a long time, drinking water, hoping one bite wasn't going to get us sick. After that we had to be redeemed and get a proper THEC at a place we tried the week before. Fresco's Bagels and Deli in Pequannock on Route 23 S. So far they've had the best THEC after about 10 deli's. Drive the extra 8-9 miles and avoid rancid meat. read more

Even when I know my opinion is set, I still always try to find a positive but this time I just can't. 2 breakfast sandwiches, both egg, cheese and bacon, one on a roll, one on a bagel and a coffee was $11 and change. Kinda pricey but nothing to fuss over really.....until I got home and opened the foil wrappers and saw what these sandwiches consisted of. They used to be fluffy and soft, they were awesome, but now they are hard and darker, they are visibly different and do not taste the same.
