In the never ending hunt for new bagel shops, today I had the chance to stop in at Howard's in Lake Hiawatha. This is a small place right on Beverwyck Rd. They do have private parking and there was also plenty of street parking available. I ordered a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. The sandwich was delicious with plenty of ham on it. Good bagel too. If you're planning on sitting here to eat your bagel, don't...no inside seating. Double check your order beforehand. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese on toasted white bread - bread not toasted. Ordered a vegetable wrap which on their website says "Eggs, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms & onions". I received a wrap with eggs, green peppers and onions. That's not even close. Had to trash it because I despise green peppers. What happened to the rest of the veggies??? Lastly I ordered a plain bagel cut in half for my toddlers to share. Wasn't cut. Decent bagels but the wait time is long - even when no one is waiting. Had a THC on a plain - good enough to satisfy my cravings. Their coffee is decent as well. Definitely an average spot. Staff is nice. Plenty of parking. read more

Howard Bagels is the Parsippany bagel spot! Fresh hand made bagels that have a great crunchy crust with a melt in your mouth center. I stop in here regularly to get a great breakfast sandwich or wrap. Today I opted for a Taylor Ham and Cheese on a Everything Bagel with Salt, Pepper and Ketchup. It was Fantastic. They have a self serve coffee bar and beverage case for all you hydration needs. Cookie and pastries to satisfy that sweet tooth. The staff is always welcoming and acknowledges every customer that walks through the door. The shop is clean and the cook will usually stick his head out the window to say hello. Howard is one of the top bagel shops in Morris county, they got awesome traditional bagels NY style, fresh arabica coffee, delicious cream cheese and freshly made salads. The staff are super friendly and got an IQ compare to other bagel stores I've been to in the area. They got good quality breakfast & lunch sandwiches at decent prices. Since my last review I've returned to Howard's several times and the staff has been great. The food was always good but as I said in my previous review, if the owners weren't there the service wasn't the same. Between the owners being there and new staff members, it's been great. Glad that they are back on top of their game. The owners are such nice people that I'm really glad they've gotten a great staff to cover when they are not there. read more

UPDATE: I see i received a reply from the owner. He believes that people review businesses same day or while in their establishment. My reviews are not real time and being written with the date i'm in the store. I also travel to other places outside of the state where I eat food. Also, nice job replying back to other people in the same courteous manner. Bagels are very tasty, right consistency - 5 star on that, but the wait here every time i come in is ridiculous. The counter help here believes in one at a time, even if that means the first person has an order of 7 bagels and i need 1. I get theres times where this is inevitable, but as a son of a small business owner, youre aware that if 6 people are waiting on a weekday at 930am in the store, your kitchen help should come out. Waiting 21 mins for a bagel with cream cheese doesnt make sense. Again, bagels great, prices fair. My only food critique is the everything bagel does not have onion or garlic, which makes me feel like its missing something, but i wouldnt dock for that. read more

I stopped in at Howard's for the first time today after I had to fast for 12 hours before going to the doctor this morning. Let me start by saying that this isn't my normal bagel place. In fact, until I passed it this morning on the way TO the doctor's office I didn't know it existed (I live in another part of town). SO I walk in at about 9:45 and I'm greeted by two very pleasant workers at the counter and the guy back in the kitchen area. I quickly ordered a Taylor Ham, egg and cheese on an everything bagel (for those of you NOT in Jersey, Taylor Ham is the ONLY brand of pork roll that should exist). I quickly grabbed coffee for both me and my wife, and my sandwich was ready about three minutes later. The coffee was outstanding, the sandwich was delicious (though they were a little skimpy on the kethep and the egg needed to be cooked slightly longer), and the bagel itself was very good. If I'm in the area I will defintely give Howard's another shot, and probably another star if they can perfect that sandwich! Seriously, if I lived closer I would put these guys in my bagel place rotation! Lake Hiawatha, you have a winner here! Recently stopped back in at Howard's - had the same breakfast and they earned a fourth star. Place is great, people are nice, prices are fair, and the breakfast food is damn good. read more

This is one of the best places to go for great morning sandwich..I stop in here fairly often and have yet to get something bad or not so good. They use good quality meats and the bagels are fresh. Well at least they are fresh early in morning I can say. The staff isn't always serving with that good morning friendly smile one might hope to see early in morning. I go in here almost every day and the service is absolutely amazing the girls & cook are always super friendly and welcoming! Let me not forget the food is amazing! best Breakfast sandwiches,Panini's, cold subs Ect! so are all their specialty cream cheeses! They take great precaution when it comes to safety and care due to the pandemic! Everyone is always properly wearing gloves and masks. Very hit or miss - I've had amazing fluffy bagels from here, and I've had burnt & rock hard bagels from here. The last three (3!!) times we came, I had a sesame bagel and the top was fluffy, the bottom was BLACK BURNT and so inedible. One batch even came fresh out of the oven! They overcook them. Picked up a couple of sandwiches shortly after opening. I believe rather than the $6.50 you pay in their Lake Hiawatha shop the sandwiches in Montville are $7.99. In any event we went with the Jets, Rangers, and Devils. I like the naming convention, makes it easy to order a sub. Also made it obvious when I called the wrong deli the first time. Have to agree with Steve M here, there's nothing bad about my breakfast sandwich there's just nothing memorable about it either. I got Taylor ham egg and cheese on a sesame bagel SPK. It's bland honestly, and the bagel is somewhere between chewy and breadey. I haven't been here in years so Idk if this is an off moment or if this is their food in general. Walk in with one person in line. while one girl in front other in back having fun not helping (saw me waiting) so waited 5 minutes. One person walks in as she comes from the back. She ask me what I want so as I started to talk so goes to the other guy and ask him and they knew him so she started helping him, I left. Poor customer service and they lost a customer. Very good bagels, by not a large variety. The girl who works there is not very bright and you will have to repeat your order a few times. Double check as she makes it, because you might miss things. They do offer a few good cream cheeses and other things to eat your bagels with. There's no parking and since it's on the Main Street you can't even double park, but there's a library near it and you can park and walk to get your goodies. read more

I just had the "Healthy Wrap", which was literally dripping with oil, came with chewy chicken, very stale potato chips, and a pickle. Wasn't too impressed with the 25-minute wait either. Okay so ive been here my whole life and for years i came here and was never satisfied 100%. Sonce the renovation my fiance started going there and i didnt exactly want to go back but i must say it taste as if it was a whole new Bagel Bakery. By far the best bagels in town. Everything is made fresh every morning and made with care as you can see with the quality, and it definitely beats Dunkin' Donuts or any other franchised crap like that. The employees working here are great and treat you with respect every time. Favorite are the everything bagels but made a different style. Sadly, I don't know the name of it but it is described as a bagel that is flatter and wider that tastes magnificent when lightly toasted. Try they're raisin and walnut cream cheese with a savory bagel and you'll come running back for more. For lunch I have only tried their tuna wraps, and I must say, very fresh and flavorful every time I order with the perfect amount of mayo and balsamic vinegar and bam your in heaven. Howard's is my go-to bagel place! Usually once a week when I don't make myself breakfast or lunch, I pick up a raisin bagel with scallion cream cheese for $3. Not sure if that combination sounds disgusting, but the workers there are friendly and don't judge. The quality of the bagels are inconsistent, even though I always go around 7am. This place used to be really good when it opened. The bagels were huge, fluffy and warm. The egg sandwhich i use to have was packed and was delicious. I once did order dozen bagel to take to work, which every one loved. Recently, the quality has took a hit. The last two time i visited this shop i got the same sandwich I use to order. However, it was lightly sprinkled with vegetables of which that were old tomatoes, lettuce and onions as you can see from the color of it. When asked for double egg whites they give only, but obviously charge two. Moreover, the bagel it self was a bit to hard coming from a bagel shop.
