TLDR: I'm very impressed with this shop's honesty and frankness about whether a repair is necessary. I came in after having gone through a pothole that left part of the undercarriage dangling. They pulled it out with a broom and said it was not a necessary part. They said it would be a waste of time and money for me to get it repaired. I ended up asking them to look into the cost and may still get it repaired, but it impressed me that he was so forthright about that. read more

Sunny, is very honest and conscientious. I had an issue with my old Prius not shifting into drive. I thought for sure I was looking at a very costly new transmission replacement. Sunny worked quickly to find the cause and found that it was not the transmission. He fixed the problem. I had my car towed to his shop in the evening and it was ready to go the next day. Sunny offered to drive me all the way home (25 miles from his shop) if I could drive the car over, but I could not put it into drive, so it had to be towed. I highly recommend this shop. read more

TLDR; The mechanic is dishonest and I got separate inspections from 2 other mechanics to verify. I came here to replace my brakes. Immediately afterwards, my car was making loud helicopter-like sounds anytime I exceeded 30 mph. I brought my car back for inspection and they said the problem was completely unrelated to their work and it was a 'coincidental' problem with my wheel bearings. They quoted me over $500 to fix it. The whole situation was fishy, so I declined additional service. The moment I drove off, the sound was gone. Perhaps the mechanic had installed the brakes wrong and had corrected it upon inspection. Afterwards, I got separate inspections from 2 other mechanics and they both said my wheel bearings were completely fine. read more

They guys are like automotive miracle workers! I always leave their shop satisfied with the good work these two dudes put into my vehicles that they deserve an updated review! My car had a weird grinding noise when I accelerate so I knew instantly that I would take my car to Sonny. He test drove my car and even the symptoms were foreign to him and he couldn't pinpoint it off the bat. It wasn't until he opened up the hood, did a quick glance over, and found the culprit! I'm not even going to try and sound smart and sound like I was listening to what he was telling me, all I knew was he knew what the problem was and offered to fix and replace the rubber part for me that very same day. I am very appreciative that he was able to take me in and resolve the issue that same day because I could have seriously gotten injured on the road if that rubber piece had broken off entirely. So I jetted off to Starbucks across the street to work. I'm sure this Starbucks has some sort of rev share with Elite Auto cause pretty sure all their customers are Elite Auto patrons. Sonny told me he loves when his customers come back to pick up their cars because they smell deliciously like coffee. Oh my goodness!! Thanks to everyone who provided positive reviews for this auto service shop! I scheduled a 55k mile service for my car, which was essentially an oil change, plus a safety inspection. I arrived at my scheduled appointment time and was told it would likely be done within 1/2 hour(!). With such a short time frame, rather than walk home, I popped over to Starbucks for a coffee. Sonny called before I even finished my coffee to let me know my car was ready. When I picked up my car, I mentioned that the battery for my key fob needed to be replaced. He ordered a new battery and called me within an hour(!) to let me know that it had arrived. There's something magical about this place in which they warp time!! Anyway, I'm super happy to have found this place and will definitely bring my car in for all future service! read more

Shop was great. They told me everything going on honestly & didn't try to sell me on anything unnecessary. There were some parts that I initially asked for (filters etc), but when Sonny noticed that they didn't need to be replaced, he put the original ones back in and didn't charge for the part. Came in to fix what I suspected to be a hole in my tire. First off this was tricky to find! It is literally the garage of a gas station, so once you see the gas station, just go to the back! I went during the weekday and lots of cars were parked waiting for service. I parked on the street and asked if I could my tire looked at. The guy working there found a spot for me in the garage and immediately checked my tire for a hole. He found it and fixed it within 10 minutes! Charged 20$ which I think is very reasonable. So far, months later, no problem w my tire-a great and fast job was done! Not to mention super friendly person working there, very knowledgable. read more

Note: I only give out 5 stars to surprisingly EXCEPTIONAL, best-in-class establishments. Per the high recommendations of other Yelpers, I decided to have my oil changed by Elite Auto Performance. Michael is truly a credit to his field of expertise! I asked for the 15% student discount, but he told me it didn't apply to the oil change special, since the discount off the regular oil change price would cost about two dollars more than the oil change special price. "Ok," I thought, "this had better not be a scam or something." I assure you, it wasn't. Michael told me I could go to Starbucks across the street to wait for him to complete his work, and that he would call me once he was done. He confirmed that I had written my phone number down on a brief form (the usual name, address & phone number routine). I didn't sign the blank work order form, since I was wary he could fill in any information/cost he wanted to and the signed form would be proof that I consented to him doing the work. I can now tell you that any such concern is not warranted; Michael is truly trustworthy. Though Starbucks was a little busy, I easily found a spot to relax while waiting no more than 20 minutes or so. But this isn't a review about Starbucks, is it? So Michael called me, and I walked back across the street. He told me everything he had inspected (from the tires to front chassis, tire rotation, etc.) in detail and that the car was in good shape. The oil change & inspection cost a little over $25 and it was worth every penny. We had a good conversation about Persian food, and Michael gave me an awesome "insider's tip" about a local Persian restaurant I am sure to visit soon. He told me our conversation was bringing back old childhood memories for him, and we parted ways amiably. This is the way of doing business that's so hard to find and everyone wants to experience, but other places simply fail to provide. They have done a couple jobs on my (older) car, and I was very impressed. The work was done very quickly and professionally. I am a repeat customer, so I am definitely a fan. If you live in EV, then it's super convenient. If you work around Stanford, the Marguerite stops justa few blocks away making it a convenient place to go. They also have a student discount. They have a very inexpensive oil change if you need one. It seems to be a family run operation, and both the man and woman have thick foreign (Persian?) accents, so you might have a bit of trouble on the phone. read more

I highly recommend going to Elite for all of your oil changes and car work. Sonny and Michael (a father/son team) are honest, friendly, and get the work done fast. I normally get my tires rotated with every oil change, and they were upfront with me and said the wear was even and I could wait until the next time I came in for an oil change to get them rotated. As a courtesy, they even checked out a clanking noise I'd been hearing on the bottom of my car. It's so relieving to know that I'm dealing with truthful folks when dealing with car maintenance. I came in with a car with the check engine light on, and full of codes for both the o2 sensor, and catalytic converter. I'd taken my car to my usual mechanic beforehand (5* on yelp too), who hurriedly quoted me $1200 for work that it turns out simply didn't need to be done, based on the error codes alone. I left Elite Auto Performance spending $117, not quite sure how that was even possible! Sonny fully diagnosed the actual issues with my car, helped me understand that my oxygen sensor was definitely faulty, and it was leading to my car thinking my catalytic converter was bad too. It looks like I can avoid replacing that for at least another 2 years! The most impressive part of the whole experience was the excellent communication. I got constant updates about what was happening, and Sonny voluntarily took the time to explain exactly how he reached the conclusions he did, which I really appreciated. Fantastic. I came in to diagnose a check engine light. I didn't even turn the car off- the guy came out with the computer, hooked it up, told me the code and reset the system. I was in and out in five minutes and he didn't charge me or even so much as ask my name. There are places nearby that will charge over $100 and take two days for the exact same service, so this was a very pleasant surprise. This is not a full-service shop, he did mention that if it happened again and I needed transmission work I would have to go elsewhere, but for simple things like this, it is a great place to go. read more

I want to echo the other reviews in saying that Sonny and his father are some of the most honest and straightforward mechanics in the business, especially for Stanford students who know little about cars and don't have tons of $$$ to spend. And that's saying a lot given that mechanics generally have a reputation for being swindlers! I first visited EAP for a regular checkup about 6 months ago, based on their excellent Yelp reviews. Had a great experience and felt the prices I was charged were very fair (and even on the lower end, especially for this area). More recently, this past week I had trouble with the power steering on my Mazda3. I immediately got it towed to EAP since I knew they would be fair and honest about any necessary repairs. Unfortunately, it turns out this issue is a service recall from Mazda and Sonny advised I take it to a different shop that has experience doing with the repair BUT throughout the entire diagnostic stage Sonny was extremely helpful and communicative, and in the end, even though I'm sure it took Sonny at least a couple hours to figure out what was going on with my car, the diagnostic was FREE. Keep in mind that a diagnostic at a "regular" shop would cost $90-$150. THIS is how you retain customers - thank you, EAP! I will definitely be back with any future auto problems, and recommend you to my PA friends as well! :) read more

Michael and Sonny were honest, professional, and very friendly. I came here a year ago because my car brakes were making some noises. Sonny took a quick look and told me that the brakes were fine and just had a little rust, but recommended I come back in 3000 miles to get them replaced. I went back to get my brakes replaced recently, and was expecting to pay $1000+ for the repairs. Michael and Sonny took a closer look and said the brakes had a good bit of life left in them, and didn't need repair. Awesome! Sonny and Michael are a father and son shop that is honest, fast, incredibly knowledgeable, and quite reasonable. My hubcap fell off and my car was overdue for scheduled maintenance/oil change. I called on Monday to see what their availability was and was scheduled for 1:30pm on a Wednesday. Seems like these guys are busy! Anyways, I showed up at the appointed time, and Sonny explains very thoroughly what they are going to do. I had my replacement hubcap with me and he even showed me how to put it on for free! I walked back to my office because I'm only 2 streets down, and literally only 20 minutes after I left, I got a call saying everything was finished. It's 15% off for Stanford students, and there's a loyalty card for oil changes. The total after discounts was $32.95, for a checkup and oil change. He said he noticed a bit of oil leaking, but it could have just been leftover oil from some previous work with aftermarket parts from another mechanic. Fantastic and trustworthy mechanic. I had fairly high expectations given the reviews, but they were great. Called ahead to make an appointment for oil change and check up, they took me right when I got there. I asked for a few other check ups, and he said it would be no additional charge above the price of the oil change. They explained what they would do and told me he'd call me in 30-40 minutes when they were done. 30 minutes later, got a call, and it was all done. They checked all the fluids, engine, timing belt, brakes, suspension, and a few other issues I had in the car. He specifically explained why it was NOT worth doing repairs on the issues I mentioned. He was great with explaining all the expected costs and told me the car was in good shape without them. If I was still in the Bay Area for longer, I would always return to them. read more

I was looking for an independent mechanic in the area to check out a used car I was interesting in buying and came to them after reading the stellar Yelp reviews. This place has the most helpful and nicest mechanics you'll ever meet. I've met with Michael to get a regular oil and filter change for my car, and he even gave me a free inspection along with it. It was fast, cheap, and very close to Stanford. Pros: 1) He's quick. 2) Gets the job done right. 3) Great customer service. 4) Good discount for students. 5) Good location. Easy to drive into.
