I left my car there on a Wednesday about noon. It is now Tuesday end of day (6 days later) and I called them 4 times over the last week (and left 4 voicemails with my return phone number) to find out status of my car which should have at least had the diagnostic by this point. No one picked up and there was no returned phone calls. I am just going to go in tomorrow and pick up my car and take it to another location. Update 6/30: It seemed the mechanics were fine, I'm sure it is a capable shop. I finally got a call on Friday (1 hour before i was going in to pick up my car to move it to another repair shop). The nice person who accepted my car let me know that they had completed the diagnostic. I told him I was just gonna come in and get it since it had been 9 days since i had dropped it off and couldn't get ahold of anyone there. Plus on my voicemail on Tuesday i had said to cancel the diagnostic. I picked up my car and took it to another place. Also worth noting... I responded to the yelp response below on Wednesday with screenshots of my call log and the address where i took it. I got no response from that email address, no phone call, no nothing. I suspect the problems with this place are one or more of the following: * They have a LOT of cars onsite. My guess is that they are accepting too many and we would all be better served if they didn't over commit and said no to some of us. * I am guessing there used to be someone who was in charge of answering phone calls and responding to voicemails and communicating with the mechanics. Now there seems to be no one dedicated to this (though maybe an overworked mechanic who is stretched too thin). On Friday the person i worked with seemed to have no knowledge I had cancelled my diagnostic 4 days earlier. * Maybe they have an automated system for responding to one star yelp reviews... and it is not being monitored anymore. * Maybe their phone system is down or misconfigured and they are losing phone calls and voicemails. * Maybe the owner (or office manager) is sick. There are 10$ coupons on the internet but was told found them too late. 1.5h to do an oil change. waited 25m for them to start for a 1pm appt while person was on phone. Used to be MPG repair. They do an inspection looking for high profit repair items they can talk people into like they look into carfax records and if they don't see maintenance records they come back with spark plug replacement, replacing radiator hoses etc. The classic stuff. From scotty killmer YT channel: don't fall for the spark plug scam. People forget when the last change was. If you forget take one off and look at it before deciding. OIl change DIY is $20. Toyota dealer sells oil filters for $5. Shocking it is that low. Alawys buy the wiper insert from the dealer, dont buy the entire blade from Costco. Big ripoff. Fast forward to the day of, I received a phone call from one of the mechanic saying that his schedule is "busy" and would need me to reschedule... Like what? I made the appointment in advance, and even so, why would you inform me last minute to reschedule on the day of the service when you could have let me know ahead of time just like how I scheduled my appointment in advance. They found something that was very bad in my car - a misfiring spark plug. This was affecting the overall engine health of the car. They replaced the spark plugs and the driving experience is noticeably smoother. This was something that the Toyota dealer had overlooked for the last few years so i'm pretty impressed. I also appreciate their customer service. A person will talk to you and answer your questions. They don't upsell services to you that you don't need. Fidel and Donnel are awesome. The vehicle report is available online and they take pictures of anything that needs addressing. The inspection occurs before the repair - unlike the Toyota dealer. I have my car there due to stall issue for over 2 months. While I give them points for some effort. I believe their misdiagnosed the issue over and over. Had problem reproducing the stall after 3 weeks, but finally was able to after following my instructions to the letter. First started with fuel pump, then reversed course and then dam shaft sensor. Lastly landed on the air intake manifold. Nothing fixed stall on my car. Asking some basic questions to Fidel which was deflected. Only comments made was due to intake manifolds which shows no symptoms of coolant leaks, or anything else one can easily find on the internet with some common deductive reasoning. Only comments Fidel makes us that they are not making money on my car and it's been fighting them. It's not rocket science! Give me options and answer my questions without repeating your suspicions which has been wrong again and again. Use deductive reasoning and not just replacing one thing after another. read more

I cant say enough about my experience at this shop. I was reluctant to have work done on my 68 Camaro there...but I picked up my car today and am really glad I did. Fidel was amazing, he communicated with me throughout the process. He was friendly, professional and had a good understanding about classic car mechanics. Actually, all the guys there were friendly and helpful. I appreciated that Fidel explained everything so thoroughly. He asked me to drive it before paying for the work that was done...to make sure I was comfortable with how it was driving...i appreciated that. He also reminded me about their warranty. My brake lights were out. I came in first thing Saturday morning at 8AM and told them I had to be at a memorial service in SJ by 11. They said it should take no longer than 20 mins. It took 10! I had never been there before but being a AAA member they had my record on file and I was on my way before 8:30. Could not have had a better experience here! Avoid this place at all costs. This place tried to charge to look at issues that I've already explained the problems. Easy to fix situations like getting the A/C charged us 180 just to look at and not do any work. Highly suggest looking at another location as this was the most expensive lesson learned (NEVER BRING IT HERE). Went in a couple days ago to have my tires balanced and an oil change. Real basic stuff. They did the oil change but told me my tires were in balance and they checked anything else that could cause the steering wheel to shake at 60-70mph. They even said they calibrated the machine to make sure. They couldn't find anything and told me it was probably because my tires are 6 years old. Needless to say I had a feeling that something didn't add up. Took my truck to a tire shop and lo and behold, they were out of balance. They fixed the issue in under 20 minutes. I took my car here expecting it to be MPG Auto Service, sadly learned that AAA had taken it over. After an oil change, the service rep gave me a printout of the things they had checked on my car. According to it everything was "good" which surprised me since one of the items was wiper blades and both of my front ones were literally shredded and left streaks (I'd planned to replace them that week). But it made me think: what else did they miss or just check "good" on the list even if it wasn't? When I asked the rep where the previous owner was (who was great) he said he didn't know. It was only recently after a lot of research that I found the previous owner, Christian, has a shop at 2570 Leghorn Street in Mountain View. If the AAA rep had told me that I would have gone there first. Now that I know I will take my car to Christian's shop since he's completely honest, fair and trustworthy. read more

For transparency, I have not *yet* used this business, however I called them to get an estimate on a repair and Fidel was SO incredibly helpful. Not only did he help me understand the brake issue with great analogies, he then was honest with me that the dealership should cover the repair under my warranty. It's hard to find businesses these days that aren't just self-interested! Fidel was very patient and kind on the phone, and also the prices here are much more reasonable than the dealership. My 2006 Buick wouldn't start. The fuel pump ran, but was noisy. The engine would fire a few times and quit. I called the AAA garage and explained that I had diagnosed the problem and wanted to know if they could order a replacement fuel pump and put it in. The manager called back and said they could get one and mentioned something about diagnosing the problem when the car was there. I said you are welcome to check things out yourself. I had it towed the next day and talked to a service tech. He said I should pay $100 for a diagnosis. I did not want to do that because they might start chasing codes or testing for things unrelated to the fuel problem. I told him to just put in the new fuel pump. The next day the manager called and said the car still would not start after replacing the fuel pump. When I got to AAA the service tech told me the battery was flat. He said they tried to start it after the tow truck dropped it off, so they could move it. I thought that was dumb. The battery is 6 Mo. old and was on a charger overnight. To run it down they must have cranked the motor a long time. The manager came in and he told me the battery was not flat. Both the nanager and service tech said that because I didn't pay for their diagnosis, they would not guarantee their work. I told the manager I would give him the chance to make things right. I will pay the $100 diagnosis fee and they can try again to fix my car. Maybe the connector for the fuel pump was not pushed in all the way. The manager then claimed the car's battery was discharged and there might be other electrical problems. I heard a lot of prevarication and he said that since I had not paid for the diagnostic up front, he was not under any obligation to fix it. At that point I got the key and tried to start my car. The battery was about half discharged and the engine turned slowly at first. The second time it fired a couple of times. After several tries the engine ran ok. So it appears there was some air in the fuel line. When the AAA mechanic tried to start the car after replacing the fuel pump, he did not crank it enough times. I went back into the office and paid my bill, then drove home. In summary they did the work I asked them to do, but their people skills are very poor. I heard several contradictory stories from the manager and service tech. They could not get there stories straight. They want their customers to pay $100 for a diagnostic when it is obvious to me they are incompetent. They weren't even able to finish the job. I have no confidence in their technical competence. They could not give me a straight answer on anything. They ran down the car's battery trying to start it after the tow truck dropped it off. The mechanic didn't have the common sense to realize the fuel line would have air in it after the fuel pump was replaced. So why should anyone have to pay these imbeciles for a diagnosis? My guess is they would find things to work on that were not related to the problem. On the plus side AAA did fix my car, even though they expected me to get it towed off their lot. These guys are apprentice mechanics. They need adult supervision. read more

i was in a pinch and turned to this aaa repair center as a aaa member. the shop has about 4 bays and the lot is packed with parked cars. the employees working were courteous enough and did a good job explaining the plan for diagnostics to me. i dropped the car off on a friday afternoon and called for an update on monday after not getting any updates on saturday. it'd be nice if they could keep customers in the loop but i understand that side of business isn't usually a focus. i got a nice thorough rundown of issues and suggested repairs via text and email and the car was done on tuesday and is running fine so far. the recorded mileage out, however, did not match the odometer, which i didn't like. i expect honesty and full disclosure if my car is being driven around. i know road tests are sometimes necessary, so account for that on record. the cost was as expected from a large chain shop and i did appreciate the aaa member discounts. i'll likely turn to a local shop the next time i need servicing but it's nice having a default aaa repair center to fall back on if needed. read more

Everyone from the service advisors to the auto technician to the shop supervisor were extremely helpful.
