I couldn't be happier with my recent experience at Elite Auto Repair. I have been a customer of Elite in the past, but recently came back after a brief hiatus. I recently got a flat tire, and needed to get a repair somewhere fast. Weary of local quick/cheap shops, and especially dealers, I wanted something better. I called Elite and Carly was able to squeeze me in for an appointment same day. I arrived on time and the waiting area was impeccably clean. Bright, sunny, airy, the whole place just feels inviting. After waiting about 45 minutes Carly started to express concern on my behalf of there being no empty auto bays. Elite arranged for me to get a complimentary ride home with pickup a few hours later once my car was done. This worked out perfectly. For $55, the flat tire fix included complete dismount, patch + plug, re-mount, and rebalance. The staff even washed my car, completely wiped it down inside and washed all windows, as well as vacuumed. Between the complimentary rides, the 'mini detail', and the actual repair. I feel that all of that is completely above and beyond worth $55 and an added layer of service that you absolutely won't get at a cheaper quality 'national brand' repair shop and certainly not a dealer. So glad I came here for my tire repair and eager to come back again when I am due for an inspection and oil change. read more

NEVER AGAIN! In August 2020, I took my Audi S4 in for a complete brake job (replace both front and back). I normally/usually take it to Inskip but decided to try Elite Auto. The Service Rep asked me if I wanted Audi OEM parts or aftermarket and I stated Audi OEM. I realize that I will pay more for Audi parts but will still be cheaper overall compared to the Audi Dealership (Inskip). Prior to leaving my car I took a photo of my odometer of 71,222 miles. Fast forward to when my car was ready... Paid for my service, went out to my car, and noticed the odometer now stated 71,241. Of course I realize that after certain service jobs a test drive is necessary so I went back into the office to ask. The Service Rep stated that yes, we did a test drive and the route we take is down Route 37, make a u turn and come back Route 37 to the shop. Route 37 is ~ 3 miles so down and back would be ~ 6 miles. So I asked why is there 20 miles listed on my car? The Service Rep stated that they didn't know why but would find out. Fast forward to today (Sept 2021)... About 4 weeks ago I noticed a clicking sound coming from my front brakes when I would initially exit my garage and then just last week my Brade Pad Alert Warning Light came on. So I scheduled an appointment with Inskip to find out what was the issue. New OEM brakes on an Audi S4 should last at least 3 years but since COVID I no longer commute to Boston, so my car is not driven as much as what it used to when I did the daily commute (back in January 2020) so you would think the brakes would still be in great shape. ~NOPE~ Per Inskip: cheap aftermarket brake pads/parts were utilized the brakes on my Audi S4 are NOT factory OEM. First called to inquire about my Toyota Tacoma making a clunk noise when applying the brakes. Was told it was most likely that the pins holding brake pads were dry of grease and removing them, greasing them usually does the trick. So I made an appointment for that to be done and also have them check out the brakes while they were at it. I arrived at the appointment for 8 AM and was told there would be a $175 evaluation fee to look at it. I was very surprised because the phone conversation I had with a gentleman who told me he's been working on Toyotas for over 30 years never mentioned an evaluation fee. I told the young man at the desk (who was very pleasant) that I was there to have my pins greased and the brakes looked at. Nothing was mentioned about an evaluation fee. A man behind the desk in an office, which, apparently is the owner informed me that greasing the pins was a possibility. He then proceeded to say there might be something else wrong. I then asked the young man if my pins would be greased upon evaluation, and he said yes, it would be included in the price. I received a call approximately 2 to 3 hours later, informing me that I needed to replace my brake pads both rotors and both calipers along with an oil change and an air filter for a grand total of around $870. My truck has 42k miles on it and replacing the whole front end brake system seemed a lil off. I replaced the brakes with my buddy and he noted there is nothing wrong with the rotors or calipers. But there were 2 wire clips missing on the pins which combined with the thin pads was making the noise. I also had my oil changed at Valvoline with a $50 coupon and they informed me my air filter was just fine. Bottom line I spent less than $100 to fix the clunk noise and change my oil vs the $870 the wanted. If money is no object to you, then by all means take you vehicle there. They will gladly take a lot of it! read more

My wife and I now own two mid 80s European sports cars, a 1988 Ferrari and a 1986 Porsche 911. The 911 comes to us from the personal collection of Jim Paiva, owner of the shop. We first test drove the car in the fall and I noticed a slight skip in the acceleration between the lower gears. (The car has been stored for some time and I believe Jim when he sad he had never noticed it before). So he and his crew began the diagnostic nightmare of trying to figure out what I know to sometimes be nightmares with these mid 80s Porsches and their (at the time state of the art) but now, ancient computer module systems. It took many months of part chasing and much expense on his part but he ended up fixing it and it now runs flawlessly. Additionally, he rebuilt the air conditioning system as a courtesy because my wife wanted the AC to work (Note, he advertised the car as not having the AC working so this he did not have to do). With all of the added work and expense on his part, he stuck to his original handshake price with me. That is not only the mark of a true gentleman, but a first class human being who could've easily told me that the price had gone up due to the extra work and time he spent getting the car fixed. From here on in all of my exotics are going to be going to Elite for their maintenance and repair. read more

I've been going to this place for over six years and paying over $300 labor per hour and I never questioned it. So my battery died. Not only did they charge me $163 for a new one they charge me $130 to install it. OK so I paid it three months later the battery Goes dead I called AAA they said the battery is dead I said how could that be it's only three months old so they replaced my battery and charge me $192 total. I take the battery back to the place they tested it and they agreed the battery is dead so instead of refunding me what I paid $292 they only refunded me $190 and gave me some Silly explanation. In the last six years I must've spent anywhere between 6000 or 7k there. For $100 they lost a customer forever that's really good business. Please do not go to this place they will smile and laugh with you and then stab you in the back with the bill. Oh yeah, if you leave Your car in the parking lot for over 24 hours they'll charge you a $30 storage fee. They call themselves a neighborhood auto repair shop. What a joke. read more

i took my mercedes c300 to elite for a B service which includes many things including new wiper blades and brake fluid exchange. they called me and said my car was in great shape but the technician noticed a little water in brake fluid which would be an added cost. i informed them that B service includes a brake fluid exchange in the cost of B service. when i picked up my car the brake fluid was not changed nor were the wipers replaced with new mercedes wipers which is also included in a B service. when i explained this to them about the brake fluid being included in a B service the reponse was yes it should include fluid exchange but we didnt do it. they wanted to charge me for a service that was included. also never replaced the wipers. i have taken my car to them since i bought it and i have received great service in the past. i highly recommend taking your car elsewhere as their customer service is nothing like it was in the past read more

Great service again today! I don't typically right reviews, but today I absolutely had to make an exception after their team member Michael offered me super quick relief this morning. This was also after I 100% panicked and yelled during both, my call with Him, and while on my commute to work this morning! The problem I was worried about most, getting seen right away and being back on the road quickly. Turns out this wasn't a problem at all! Plus the Elite team was able to determine the fix right as I drove in. I still kinda can't believe I didn't figure it out myself after being a lifelong New Englander, So much so I feel almost silly about my crazed call to them this morning. The problem that was causing my panic, my tires had some Icy snow mix in the wheel area causing an insanely scary vibration while I was driving on the highway. All that was actually needed was a better clearing off of that snowy ice mix before leaving the house this morning. To top all that off I have to say Michael, who is new to me, is very trust worthy and knowledgeable. He quickly checked with Jim, Ruth, & Katie about waiving my fee today after they cleared off and checked all four tires (which for the record, I did let them know I gladly would've paid for after the quick peace of mind they gave me today!) and they all approved it without batting an eye. Elite Auto Repair is not an honest place to go for repairs. The flippant woman at the front desk quoted me an outrageous price for a part I needed to fix my window's motor and then backed up when I pointed out the part was considerably less online. She also wanted to charge me over $100 for a "consultation fee" just to look at my car to make sure I actually needed the motor. After I went there and got the overpriced quote, I found the next closest place on yelp which was Let's Meet By Accident / National Auto Specialty. There I was treated like I was the owners' daughter and had my car looked at for free. National Auto Specialty even put my window up for me at no charge so I wasn't driving around with a broken, open window. They quoted me a price for the parts and labor that more closely matched what I had seen online and weren't corporate feeling like Elite Auto Repair was. In the end, my dad did the repair for me so I can't speak to either's work, but I would never go back to Elite after the way I was treated at National Auto Specialty, right around the corner. read more

I did some research and landed at Elite Auto after being dissatisfied with the service and cost of dealer-based maintenance. I couldn't be happier with Elite as my regular "shop". They know what they're doing, as most of the folks here have years of tenure at the very dealer service centers that will charge you more. They know the service requirements and weaknesses for my Volvo, and I trust them to keep me in sync with manufacturer guidelines. Elite has never pushed service I didn't need, though they've told me six months in advance of anticipated or recommended repair/replacement. I appreciate this so I can plan around my schedule and budget. I've found their prices to be fair, while the service is personal and accommodating. They work as a team, are so pleasant and have customer-focused perks that have won me over. For example, they drive me to work if service is too long to sit and wait. Also, they facilitated a great price on car rental when I was without the car for a larger repair. They always make time even for those "I hear a weird noise" checks. I recommend them to anyone with a foreign car. I can't imagine how you'd be disappointed bringing your vehicle here. I'm shooting for 200k with my S80, and I think Elite might help me get there. read more

I moved to the Providence area in summer of 2012. Took me a little while and a lot of research before I found a car repair place that seemed trustworthy, and eventually I chose Elite. So far, I have been happy with the results. The prices are a little on the high side, but not unreasonable (especially since they're primarily a high-end repair shop, and I drive a 2007 Toyota Matrix XR w/116k miles). More importantly, I like how they're willing to engage me in a honest discussion of what my car does and does not need to have done to it. I'm a broadcast engineer who needs a reliable vehicle to go out in crappy weather sometimes, and I know a little about working on cars in general, so that willingness to engage me is something I value highly. I also like the customer service; they're quite willing to give you a lift if you need to leave the car there, and pick you up afterwards. So you don't need to be out of the office all day for a repair. If you want to hang out, that's cool - there's wifi and coffee and some comfy chairs in the lobby. So far I've taken my Matrix there for state inspections, snow-tire/all-weather-tire swapouts, oil changes, some brake work, and other sundry work over the last 18 months. Haven't had to have much done to the Matrix that falls into the "major repairs" category but I'm feeling pretty confident they'll do a good job when and if that comes up. read more

As a surgical resident, I pay attention to the needs of a patient and never make them feel like they're a number or commodity. Sadly, this kind of basic humanism and decency wasn't extended to me by Elite Auto Repair during my encounter with their shop on 5/14/2018. I had recently returned from a friend's wedding to find that my driver's side rear window wasn't closing likely secondary to a faulty regulator. I took the car into the shop and mentioned that I might also need an oil change, but I wanted an estimate for services first--typically an authorization has to be given prior to execution of any repairs or services. I received a quote for $2400 worth of additional repairs in addition to my original concern, which they listed as costing ~$500 to repair. As the price seemed exorbitant, I requested that they don't perform any services so that I could shop around for a better price--the alleged beauty of living in a capitalist society. When I returned to the shop, I learned that they hadn't taken the door panel apart to investigate the failing mechanism, stating that it was the regulator. This means they literally pushed the window button and charged me $120. Of course, it's either the regulator or the motor--I knew that before the encounter. Furthermore, they had proceeded to perform an oil change for $150 because "I wanted it" without waiting for me to authorize them to do so after receiving the estimate. Essentially, I paid $306 for an oil change and for confirmation that my regulator was malfunctioning. Here is the kicker--THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE DECENCY TO PULL MY WINDOW UP! Without garage parking, I had to pray that there wasn't a storm or any treacherous individuals out at night as I'm staying in a less desirable neighborhood in Boston. THEY DIDN'T CARE ABOUT ME AS A HUMAN BEING. Luckily, I went to Dean Auto and Collision Center and they took apart my door panel, informing me that the motor is also out in addition to the regulator. They diagnosed my problem and pulled my window up for FREE because the owner didn't want me to be exposed to the elements with the impending storm. He also considered my goals for car ownership and current finances, telling me that it may be in my best interest not to perform any repairs if I'm okay with that window not going down. He didn't treat me like a commodity, and it's this humanism that will have me returning to his shop in the future. In a capitalist society, one has the beauty of many choices in the retail or service industry. Elite Auto Repair can choose to dehumanize their customers, rendering them as nothing more than another dollar in the bank, but thankfully, I have the option of never returning there. I have also warned my surgical colleagues to stay away from this shop and will continue to aggressively warn others in hopes of preventing a similar experience. read more

Way overpriced!! I needed my windshield wiper transmission replaced. I dropped my car off so they could fix it and I received a call the next day that the cost would be $865.00!! I told them to go ahead and fix it. But I asked myself how is it is so expensive? So, I asked them when I went to pick it up the next day and they said it was for the 3.25 hours of labor and the part was $400! I did a quick search online and found the part for my car and showed it to them... it was listed for no more than $150 on several websites! As my car was being repaired for the 2 days, I had asked several other shops how many hours would it take to fix my car, they all said "no more than 2 hours". Yet, this place charged me for 3.25 hours of labor! The only reason I give Elite Auto a star is because of the friendly staff. The owner on the other hand.. is a money hungry pig. read more
