Laughing stock of a business. Complete scam from the second I walked in. The ladies at the front desk are the rudest people I've ever interacted with along with no cleanliness from any of them. All they care about is taking your money. No care whatsoever when it comes to the patients. The second I sat down Lofti wanted to do an X-ray on a tooth I wasn't even there for and immediately after the last picture was taken I was presented with a $400 bill in my chair before the bonding can even begin. I then mentioned that I have insurance which they were already aware about until I called my insurance company and let them talk it over. Magically the price went from $400 to $148 and finally $90. On Elite Dental's website. It says Dr. Mahyar Lotfi... "desires to help solve their dental problems" "make sure his patients enjoy visiting the dentist." "free from discomfort and anxiety." "Dr. Lotfi will look after you like he would his own family." I can tell you that was NOT my experience. From my experience, Dr. Lotfi is a liar, deceptive, and doesn't care about his patients. For me, he was a nightmare. Please stay away from this dentist and this place. Many red flags below. 1. Dr. Lotfi kept putting off my annual exam for 2 years. I see Dr. Lotfi twice a year. Every visit, I ask about my annual x-ray. I always forget when I get those done. Dr. Lofti tells me "it's too soon" to do that. I took his word for it. At my next appointment I was informed I haven't had an x-ray done in two years. 2. Didn't tell me I had an abscess and needed to start antibiotics asap. Dr. Lotfi: "I had you start taking antibiotics for your abscess last week, right? Me: "No. You didn't tell me I had an abscess and needed antibiotics." 3. Breach of patient confidentiality While waiting in the dentist chair, I saw other patients' personal/dental information on the screen in front of me. Another person or two on Yelp have mentioned that in their reviews too. 4. Dr. Lotfi asked me to open my mouth in front of 4-5 other patients in the waiting room to check on my temporary tooth filling. 5. Last minute canceled my appointment while I was in the waiting room. Wanted to postpone my follow up abscess appt. for another week. 6. He saw how much anxiety and stress he was causing me, and he didn't care. He could care less. 7. Dr. Lotfi wouldn't schedule a confirmed appointment with me. Just says "Come back in a few days sometime between 10-11 am." I called his office later that day to schedule a confirmed appointment for a follow up on my abscess. Both his secretary and Dr. Lotfi wouldn't schedule an appointment for me. I said "I'll see Dr. Lotfi on Friday at 10 am." Both said "come back on Friday sometime between 10-11 am). 8. Dr. Lotfi was made aware that my insurance was ending soon and he kept postponing my dental care. 9. Dr. Lotfi was argumentative and gaslighting me. Dr. Lotfi told me my abscess was really infected and that he wasn't able to drain all the pus. He wanted me to take antibiotics and make a follow up appointment to drain the remainder of pus then. I brought up what he said at my follow up appointment. He claims he never said that. I reiterated again what he said. He replied, "there's no pus!" I was just asking him questions about whether the antibiotics work and whether my abscess is gone or not. He tells me the antibiotics got rid of the infection, there's no pus, the abscess is gone. 10. Dr. Lotfi intentionally overcharged me hundreds of dollars before the in-network negotiated fee from my insurance was established and before my insurance paid a portion of the bill. 11. Dr. Lotfi lied to me again to stall reimbursing me. He said I should be receiving a second claim in the next few weeks and when I have that to come back to his office and he will write me a check then. This would be 1.5 months later after seeing him last. I found from my insurance there's no second claim. Dr. Lotfi didn't submit a second claim. 12. My insurance called his office many times to resolve the issue. His office intentionally ignored all calls and would later would pick-up and hang-up the phone. 13. He never took accountability for anything nor offered an apology. He didn't take any action to reimburse me. Even if he did apologize now, it wouldn't be genuine. Advice: Check your bills. Call your insurance to go over each bill. Always keep receipts. Leave a paper trail by paying with a debit or credit card. If you had a bad experience with a dentist, document it, and report it. read more

I made appointment for cleaning and exam which is covered by Kaiser Medicare Advantage. Waited approx. 3 weeks for the appointment. Arrived for my appointment and the gal at the desk said there was a $65 copay ($125 without dental coverage). I refused to pay, left and called Delta Dental which handles dental for Kaiser. The Delta Dental rep called Elite Dental and was told the copay was for "an office visit." (How can I get a cleaning and exam without an office visit?) After I asked the Delta rep to speak to a manager, he called back Elite and they agreed to provide the cleaning and exam without the copay but at that point it was past my appointment time. And I won't go to a dental practice that I believe is scamming Kaiser, Delta, and the patients. I wonder how much money they've scammed out of patients who didn't question the copay. read more

I never write reviews but this place is sketchy. They made me wait an hour for a cleaning, in front of a computer that revealed information about other patients. The next visit was cancelled 5 minutes before the appointment because the dr was "stuck in traffic". The staff changes my appointment times without notifying me and claim that it was the originally scheduled time, even though I have had cards with the time and date written down (by them!). if I had other options that took my insurance, I certainly would change doctors. bizarre and unprofessional. read more

One star is 2 more than this place deserves. What a poor excuse for a dental office. I was just assigned to them this morning & they gave me a 3:30 appointment. When I got there, they charged me $20 for an office visit - I've been with Delta Dental for nearly 40 years now & never have had to pay for an office visit separately from the insurance. Unfortunately, they did not have confirmation that I was legit & they needed my plan codes. They would not call DD, but gave me the number & I called. DD's computer system gave me all the info the office needed over speaker phone. Unfortunately the receptionist was nowhere to be found & had not given me anything to record the info on, so I asked for a customer rep. That person sent both a fax & email, but when the receptionist came back, neither was there. The office fax was not working & apparently DD had a different email address than the one on the business card. Ultimately, they kept me in the waiting room about an hour, then took X-rays of my broken tooth. The dentist came down for a minute to tell me the tooth needed to be pulled. Then he went back to work on another patient. So I'm sitting in the chair with the bib on & eventually the receptionist came into the room to tell me that the dentist wanted me to take antibiotics for a week before he pulled the tooth (ca-ching - another $20 office visit). But she still needed the DD info. She informed me at that time that the dentist was not coming back to me today & so I asked why I was still sitting in the chair with the bib on. She said "oh - you can go." By that time I had been there nearly 3 hours. But she still didn't have the info from DD so I offered to call them again. Again, just as I was getting the info, she was gone. So again I asked for a rep. The receptionist never returned & the dentist was working on a patient. So I asked DD to reassign me to another dentist, which they did. What a way to run a business!! The people seemed nice enough, but the whole operation is whacked! Poor communications, didn't involve me in any decisions or discussions, receptionist mia for most of the close to 2 hours I wasted there & that irritating surprise $20 office visit charge. I recently had a double root canal with Dr. Lotfi since one infected tooth had infected the one next to it. This was not fun since I also had decay below the gum line that needed treatment. Yet I found Dr. Lotfi to be thoughtful and kind through the whole process. He communicated well about what he was doing and answered all my questions. I never waited a long time to get treatment. It was a several step process, but the final result was very good. I asked him why Yelp reviews for Elite Dental from the past are so bad. He said that a different dentist had been there at that time and is not working there now. Yet the old bad reviews are still there. I have very difficult challenges with a spinal cord disease and subsequent injuries to my sinus and mouth from the 2017 Tubbs fire. I am not an easy case. I saw Dr. Hussein and he immediately got me into oral surgery in Novato. He was very honest in his referral to Dr. Elder and even though it was a drive, he felt it best that Dr. Elder do the surgery in Novato. By the rules of the office, appointment for routine tooth cleaning, can be scheduled one month ahead only and it very complicated. Even scheduled appointment can be cancel by the office without any warning by phone or email. If you try to complain, front desk personal will advise to you to get away and find another dental office (IN VERY RUDE FORM) Immediately after that, you will receive the letter, that your service have canceled permanently. I left three messages to dentist, NO RESPOND. As result, i am going to find another dental office and requested Elite Dental to send my dental record and X-rays to me, NO RESPOND. He glared at him then asked what medications he was on. I answered him and explained he had many dental visits including braces and there was never a problem. I went into Elite Dental and it was right down the street from my house, I was late because my gps didn't understand where it was at. It is across from Chase Bank by Coddingtown, the receptionist was nice enough and helped me get there from my location. When the dentist saw me he berated me about having plaque on my teeth, im at the dentist! And was having problems getting my insurance squared away from quitting my job to stay home with my kids and my husband changing jobs. I was also pregnant when I went and my gums were sensitive this time around. They scheduled me for an appointment in March and I set up a babysitter to watch my girls, the babysitter called and was stuck in traffic and couldn't make it, i called them the second I got a phone call and told them I had to cancel because my babysitter canceled. The lady was super rude on the phone and made it sound like it was a HUGE inconvenience for her that I canceled, then informed me that I would be getting a $60 cancelation fee. I was not happy, i called back 15 minutes later to see if I could get into my appointment and she rudely told me that they filled my spot already. You shouldn't be charged a fee when you call to cancel, unless you just dont show up. I wasnt going to write a review about my experience because i planned to get my teeth done there and was just going to wait and see how my other experience was, but I wont be returning. Dont waste your time, they wonder why they have bad reviews. If you want to get scorned for having some plaque on your teeth then go here, if you want a professional dentist, I'd go some place else. Update: i received a bill earlier this week and they called me saying they needed to collect my balance of $60, I told them I had until the end of the month to pay. Well I am adding to the terrible reviews. Had an appointment for a dental cleaning this am that was made about 4 months ago which the dentist himself recommended. The office bombards you with reminder phone calls about your appt so I cancelled a semi-emergency appointment with my plumber as I had already confirmed with the dental office multiple times and did not feel right about cancelling last minute. Upon my arrival I am told that the next cleaning will be $65 more than today's and that it will not be covered by insurance. They also automatically tag on an additional fee for fluoride treatment without asking one's consent. I had to insist that I didn't want the fluoride treatment before the unpleasant receptionist removed the fee. I was still charged a $20 copayment, for what I don't know, as Delta Dental should pay for 2 exams and 2 cleanings a year, in full. The receptionist checked me in, took my $20 copayment, gave me a receipt and told me to have a seat. Well after a 5 minute wait I am told that they don't have a dental hygienist and that I will have to go elsewhere; this despite the fact that the dentist himself did my last cleaning, and that I was just told that all future cleanings would incur an additional out of pocket fee. No apology , just told to go elsewhere for a cleaning. When I asked why I wasn't called and told that they could not clean my teeth the rude receptionist did note have an answer. How do you run a dental practice like this? From the very first encounter with an unsmiling and indifferent front office staff to the so called dentist who refuses treatment that he suggested 4 months earlier, this was all in all a terrible experience. For an office that hounds its clients with reminder phone calls it seems particularly egregious that they could care less about their patient's time, not to mention the complete mishandling of their appointment schedule. For over one year I used Elite Dental for my dental care. For one year I asked for a dental cleaning and NEVER was able to make an appointment. The excuses ran from the hygienist is will be returning from maternity leave, we have a list for future appointments but no offer to add my name, to COVID is here and we are not cleaning teeth. How strange to run a dental office and not offer cleanings and check ups. Rowan the manager of the office is rude and inconsiderate. I found her to be unhelpful no matter what the request. Called the emergency number to the Petaluma office and tried to make an appointment but was told my insurance didn't cover that office and the doctor wouldn't be able to see me but he would write me an Rx for an antibiotic.. Told them I would call the Santa Rosa office the next day. Called the Santa Rosa office on Friday and was told the doctor wouldn't be back for a week and a half!. I was very happy with the prices for my procedures, and shocked that I didn't have to pay a co-pay for today's visit. I hate going to the dentist, but I had broken all of my front teeth off at the gumline and I couldn't avoid it anymore (I'd been living like that for more than two years). I came in for an exam and x-rays, and everyone was SO understanding of my sheer panic and took great care of me. Dr. Husein spent a lot of time coming up with a plan that worked for me both health-wise, and cosmetically, and Katrina helped me get financing for the amount that my insurance wouldn't cover.
