    Chicken Tinga Fries

I have loved coming to this spot recently to an enjoy a drink and an appetizer for happy hour during the week. A lot of times lately I like to bring my pup with me so we have been sitting on the outside bar seats with our dog but if he isn't with us we normally just grab a seat at the inside bar if it is not too crowded. It definitely gets busy Friday right after people are done with work so I advise going early to grab a spot. The happy hour menu here is small but it gets the job done. I actually really like the food here and the menu does tend to change a little bit sometimes but everything is super good! We got the new chicken tinga fries and they were super tasty. I can't wait to come back and try more of the new menu items soon!

A fun place to grab a drink and apps while watching a game. They have a HH menu with a solid blackberry margarita and a great variety of draft craft beers. Service was good, and the space is nice with plenty of different seating options that make hanging with a group easy. Will be back!

Everything we ordered was tasty and scraped off the plate. Easy parking, great service, and super fast turnaround. Even the water was exceptionally good. They had a ton of beer selection and good outdoor seating to take a little off the live band sound for the kids. We will be back for sure

Amazing food, great drinks, and even stronger community vibes. The menu offers a great variety and everything we tried was delicious. Casual, welcoming, and consistently excellent. The staff were super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend if you want great food and drinks without the fuss! Great drinks. Great food. Great service. Nice happy hour. Brunch available on the weekends. Easy parking.

This is what they have as a hot pastrami Reuben. Not a fan! It's not the same from the old photos.

I was looking at photos of hot pastrami Reuben in Yelp and it looks delicious. However coming today for the first time, I was disappointed. My pastrami was served in cold hoagie bread, it didn't have the sauerkraut and cheese like in photos. The pickle was sliced and placed inside the sandwich. It wasn't well made.

We've been here three times now, and each time makes us wanting to come back for more! Drinks are on point, service is fantastic, and the food is absolutely delicious! They make a killer old fashioned, and many times their specialty cocktails are wonderful concoctions! Check this neighborhood gem out, what a wonderful addition to Scripps Ranch!

Meeting a colleague for dinner, and this was highly recommended in his hood, so... Great local beer selection and the smash burger was top of my list.. nice portion of meat and cheese with a crust on the bun. Crispy fries to round it out... Ambiance is sea shore rustic, service was prompt and friendly, and prices were in line with expectation.

We had a wonderful time for a late lunch here. Celebrating my birthday and enjoying time with my family was great here. We were immediately greeted by the female bartender and she seated us immediately. Our server was a man who is always working and he always has the best customer service. Our food was delicious and the service is amazing. If you are looking for a great vibe this place has that. The mezcal margaritas and specialty cocktails are delicious; as are all of the drinks. I highly recommend.

Had a great time here!! The drinks were good, I loved the Cadillac margarita. Loooved the Pastrami Reuben -- perfect bread to meat ratio, great flavor and the slaw on it was great, too. The mortadella flatbread I give a 7.5/10, it was good but I hoped for a stronger mortadella flavor & some of the artichokes on it were hard to chew. It was still satisfying, though! Would want to try more of their menu items for sure :)

We enjoyed couple drinks and food

Exceptional customer service. Cool spot to get some good food and drinks. We watched the game for a little bit. They have an awesome champagne brunch and brunch menu on the weekend. Cool vibe overall!

Public House 131 is a lively gastropub in Scripps Ranch that is super family friendly, has a really nice bar area, and large list of beers to choose from. This is the perfect spot to grab a beer and watch some games, enjoy a happy hour with your friends, or take the whole family to enjoy a meal. We ordered: Cucumber vodka gimlet Sliders Fries English Toffee bread pudding Mudd pie Brussels Butterscotch budino Tikka Masala cauliflower Sausage & Potato flatbread Fried Pickles Follow @sandiegofoodie858 (IG) for more must try San Diego restaurants, date night ideas, and food experiences!

We went on a late weekday night. I've been here multiple times and the food is ok. It's a bit on the pricier side for upscale bar food. My friends do like their mixed cocktail drinks.

Valet parking is complimentary, and there isn't any self-parking. When I checked in with the hostess, she gave me the option of sitting in the front outdoor patio or the back patio. I chose the back, and I'm so glad I did because the view is absolutely beautiful. I also had my dog with me, and they were incredibly dog friendly. They brought her a dog bed and a surprisingly extensive dog menu with some really great options. We ordered: *Lobster Tacos : Three generously filled tacos served with salsa and guacamole. They were absolutely delicious and loaded with lobster, topped with fresh avocado. *Rancho Burger: Easily one of the best burgers I've had. It was cooked perfectly, and we added Swiss cheese. They even cut it in half for my friend and me to share. The fries were fantastic too, crispy and somewhere between steak fries and thin-cut fries. *Shepherd's Pie (Dog Menu) : The menu listed it with beef, but they accidentally brought out the chicken version. Since my dog is allergic to chicken, they immediately apologized, took it back, and made a fresh beef version. The customer service was excellent, and my dog absolutely devoured it. The portion was generous, and it looked fresh enough for a human to eat. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. Our food arrived in less than 20 minutes, the views were stunning, and the menu had so many tempting options that I'll definitely be back to try more. Overall, this was a fabulous lunch, and I highly recommend it.

Their food quality is also very good. Of the several times we've been, we've struggled with food temperature not being warm enough about half the time. Servers are kind, but can be inconsistent. Again I would say half of our visits we've felt forgotten. My biggest irritation was during our latest visit, in which families with children were seated next to us not once, but twice. This was disturbing because on the booth side of the table where my mom and I sat, we felt the movement of squirmy children from the table next to us. Highly recommend more attention to table selection by the host staff. Given the classiness of this place, I find it silly that I'd have to go out of my way to ask for hot food and to be seated only around adults. We will be taking The Pony Room out of our rotation for a while.

With the recent sale to Athletic Brewing, Ballast ceased operations for about 2 years now. The San Diego beer landscape has been changing the last couple of years with consumers drinking less beer, choosing non-alcoholic options and preferring canned cocktails. It was a wonderful space with a large walk bar, extensive dining area and tons of high top tables. The only gripe was the parking which was always difficult to find a spot. We ordered ahead for pickup, using a third party food delivery app on a Saturday 30minutes before closing time so our order was completed quickly. It had a balanced amount of sauces and ingredients without being too overpowering. The meat tasted fresh and not overly salted. However, they are both on a pricier side for a burger that does not come with any sides. They are like fancy burgers without the fancy location. I enjoyed the OG burger's simplicity and its melted cheese but the Classic helped balancing out the greasiness with the lettuce and onions. They used thinly sliced lettuces instead of full leaves. Most of the specialty cocktails sounded really seeet. I enlisted the help of our server to try to come up with something less sweet. I decided on the Pretty in Pink. The artichokes were very tender and slightly breaded in a delicious, delicate piccata sauce. I liked our server. She worked had to serve our large party. She had a positive attitude. One of the food runners did not. When she mispronounced the name of one of the members of our party, we were not sure who ordered it.
