We were visiting from out of town, and Public House was a few miles from our hotel. My son wanted a good burger and Yelp suggested that they had a good burger. They have a great burger! We got the house burger and the smash burger. My wife got the chicken salad. We also had the artichoke appetizer. In addition to the burgers being great, the fries were amazing too. You can get other sides too - which I'm sure are just as good. The server was spectacular, keeping glasses full, food coming and very knowledgeable about the menu. My friend and I stopped in for lunch, and it was our first time. We were happy to find a local restaurant with a modern bar atmosphere. The space was clean and inviting, and we were seated quickly after we arrived. Since it's also a bar, it was definitely on the louder side. We were still able to have a conversation, but it was a bit noisy. Our server, Jane, was great. She answered all of our questions and gave us recommendations by sharing her personal favorites, the restaurant's top sellers, and describing how each dish tasted. She was very knowledgeable and thorough with the menu, which made ordering easy. It did take a little while for our food to come out, but once it arrived, I ordered the Wagyu Beef Sliders, and my friend had the Short Rib Mac & Cheese. The sliders were just okay for me. The beef was cooked more on the well-done side than I would have preferred, and the toasted bun was a little too hard. The sliders tasted a bit dry, so I found myself adding ketchup to almost every bite. On the other hand, my friend really enjoyed the Short Rib Mac & Cheese. They said it was super cheesy, gooey, and melted in your mouth. The short rib added a rich, savory flavor, and the crispy onions gave the dish a nice little crunch that balanced out the creamy texture. Even though my meal didn't quite hit the mark, I'd definitely come back to try other menu items. I stopped in tonight right after practice closeby and chose this spot because I knew the USA vs Turkey game was on tonight and getting close to the end and this spot was a quick drive over. They have a nice bar area and service was impeccable. Megan, I think, was her name. Many of the patrons here knew her by her first name and seems this place is where locals go. She was on point on everything, best server ever! TVS were all tuned into FIFA so that was great. I ordered a burger and fries ($19) and this came out in a timely fashion. I have loved coming to this spot recently to an enjoy a drink and an appetizer for happy hour during the week. A lot of times lately I like to bring my pup with me so we have been sitting on the outside bar seats with our dog but if he isn't with us we normally just grab a seat at the inside bar if it is not too crowded. It definitely gets busy Friday right after people are done with work so I advise going early to grab a spot. The happy hour menu here is small but it gets the job done. I actually really like the food here and the menu does tend to change a little bit sometimes but everything is super good! We got the new chicken tinga fries and they were super tasty. A friend took me to Public House 131 as we were both craving a burger. The food was amazing. I had the smash burger and it was tasty, excellent and really juicy. My lunch date had a different burger that was just as good. We split an order of fries and I am so glad we did. They were just amazing! This is a nice large modern Gastropub in a suburban strip mall location where you wouldn't expect to find one. I tried the grilled fish tacos with a salad instead of fries. They were quite good, with lots of acidic accents. The salad was also very good and came with little chunks of apple, blue cheese crumbles and a balsamic dressing. I tried public house for the first time since it was in the area and have heard really good things about it. The inside is very cozy feeling and welcoming. We got the blistered brussels , burgers (I believe one of them was the pub). The burger was a little dry, but otherwise good . My favorite was the blistered Brussels! I had to do a double take since it said caramel but the flavors worked so well together. I also got the huckleberry lemon drop, which was relatively strong! Our server was very nice and explained the drinks really well as well as came in to check on us to make sure we had everything we needed. I found it really helpful that they recommended me a drink since I want sure of what to get. Parking in this plaza is plentiful as well! read more

We got seated quickly but our table was still wet from a cleaning so our menus were wet- a little yucky. Our carnivore son had the smashed burger and loved it. He is at this point a steak critic having eaten at all the fancy places in San Diego and he absolutely loves the burger. Great flavor, cooked just right. The fries were also great. His comment: they don't look like they're flavored but they taste great! And he is spot on. The wife and I shared the steak sandwich and wings. I found out the sandwich had arugula and I'm not a fan, but she said it was a great sandwich and would order it again. We also had the wings and they've got quite the selection of sauces. We settled on the maple chili and I have to say- it is the only correct answer. Not too spicy, not too sweet, it is the Goldilocks Just Right of wing sauce flavor. Our waters took a while to fulfill and between that and the wet table I knock the overall down .5 stars. If I could do a 4.5 that would be the rating for this visit. The pricing here is consistently unclear and feels intentionally misleading. On two separate visits, someone in my party was charged more than the listed happy hour prices with no disclosure upfront. Most recently, my buddy ordered two happy hour martinis listed at $6.50. The server asked if he wanted them "dirty," but never mentioned that doing so adds an extra $6 per drink. His total ended up doubling solely because of that. I later found an older review from another customer who experienced the exact same martini upcharge issue. On a previous visit, I ordered a well old-fashioned, since the happy hour menu states well drinks are $6.50. I told the server clearly, "I'll take a well old-fashioned." She acknowledged it and wrote it down. When the bill came, I was charged $11. After I pointed it out, she apologized and then said, "Oh, the well old-fashioned is actually $9.50." This is a pattern: menu prices not being honored, undisclosed upcharges, and corrections only when questioned. Given that someone else reported the same issue, it doesn't appear to be an isolated mistake. The pricing needs to be far more transparent. read more

First of all we were very impressed by our waitress because she was able to remember our group of 5s entire order without writing it down! She only needed clarification on one thing! For appetizer we got the brussel sprouts and calamari and they were both so good. I think I preferred the brussel sprouts because they were sooooo good. Prepared "New York Style" with 1000 Island dressing, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and mustard on rye bread. Comes with a pickle spear and your choice of side. I always love their hot, crispy onion rings. This Reuben is among the best you'll find in SoCal without going to an old-school Jewish deli. The sandwich is stacked with a generous amount of pastrami and thoughtfully constructed. Girls day here on October 20th. Sunday am bartenders were great. There was 1 seat available at one end of the bar and another at the other end. They were kind enough to make a spot for us together and other guests were nice enough to make room for us to sit. The vibe was nice. Super solid place with GREAT burgers! Came with a group of 7 (and 2 dogs so they're very dog friendly!) on a Wednesday night. Got to try both the Flat Top Double Cheeseburger and the 131 Pub Burger and both were great. Would definitely get either of them again. Cocktails were also solid and fairly priced. Got seated right away and out waitress was very accommodating since we wanted to move some of the tables around outside. Water service was also solid and they use the metal water cups which I love cause it stays cold longer. Sat in their patio area which is on the smaller side but still fit our bigger group. They have space heaters outside too if you get cold. Inside looked very spacious with lots of seating and TVs so overall is a great place to hangout.
