This salad was sooooo delicious! You know what would be better? If it had protein included. Sat outside in their cute patio. It was a warm day, and there weren't a lot of shade, next time I'd sit inside. Service was good enough and we enjoyed our lunch. I'd come back and try their homemade pasta next time!

IYKYK Little Star-style pizza with the cornmeal crust deep dish -- and somehow it's in San Diego. Turns out the owner worked with the chefs! This place was a little slice of home. We ordered the Old Town deep dish and instantly recognized that famous cornmeal crust. If you know, you know -- Bay Area spots like this usually have an hour wait on a weeknight. We split the caesar salad, a small Old Town deep dish combo, and two hazy IPAs during happy hour on a Sunday night. The cornmeal crust with fresh tomato sauce gives this style its signature light and airy feel. Left with happy bellies and already planning our next visit. Bonus: fantastic outdoor patio with a fountain, great for groups.

Food: 5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 5 We had an event to attend nearby and decided to stop by The Shop for pizza and drinks beforehand since it was close by. We came on a weeknight and it wasn't busy at all, so we were welcomed right away and seated outside. It was the perfect evening to sit outdoors, slightly chilly, and the staff immediately turned on the heat lamp for us, which was much appreciated. The service was excellent from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed and consistently checked on throughout our visit without ever feeling rushed. We ordered a deep-dish pizza that we were able to split into two flavors, "the 858" and "Where's the Meat" (which were recommended by our waiter), along with the golden beets and arugula salad and sangria. I'm typically not a fan of deep-dish pizza, but wow, this one completely blew me away. It was extremely delicious, very fresh, and perfectly balanced in flavor. The crust was thick and crunchy, just the way it should be. I am glad we were able to split the pizza into 2 types! The golden beets and arugula salad was light, refreshing, and very tasty, and the sangria was yummy as well. Overall, I highly recommend this spot. The service, ambience, food, and drinks were all top-notch. I can't wait to return and bring more friends for another enjoyable evening.

Back...5 years later and still good. Jesse was our server and was great. Didn't order anything fancy just some apps and a pizza. Would still recommend!

We came for a date night on a quiet Monday evening. Shop was clean, spacious and our server was super friendly. Managed to grab a happy hour bruschetta which was delicious. We did a DIY small pizza with pepperoni and pineapple. Though the owner did give us an estimate of how big it was, it was a bit smaller than we expected but still fine for two. Probably better not to overeat anyway haha. Overall really cute little pizza shop near us and we'll be back

We came here for dinner and were not disappointed in the least. Service? Amazing. Food? Perfection. You really can't ask for anything more in a dining experience. The deep dish pizza is divine, and I would come here a lot more often if I lived closer. 10/10

Updating my review to 5 stars for the consistently good experience! Pizza is delicious and special. Fresh ingredients, strong tomato flavor, a good balance of cheese, what more is there to ask for? Not what you can get from just any pizza place, especially the deep dish. The restaurant wasn't crowded even on the weekend. The place is spacious and the music isn't too noisy so my party could actually chat. The pizza didn't take an outrageously long time to come out. And the waiter was very friendly and personable. We left happy and full!

Delicious pizza in RB! The place is well organized and fancy but not too fancy. This could be a nice date spot or family pizza night. They have a big bar and good bartenders. The stand out area is the pizza. As you can see by the pictures, the pizzas are huge and flavorful! I will be back to try out more of the menu selections.

We tried the deep dish pizza where we were able to order half-half (North County and Where's the Meat?). It was definitely an interesting flavor and I found the crust unique (seems to have some corn?) - I like the North County better as it felt more balanced, but overall they were not that heavy and easier to eat than some other pizzas. I would definitely again especially given the great customer service - we had our dog with us and they were willing to turn on the heater just for us two as we were the only ones sitting outside. They were very friendly and helpful as well, including giving a water bowl to my dog. Unfortunately there's no dog menu and all their meats are pre-marinated, but otherwise my dog was quite comfortable! Thanks again!

The Shop in Rancho Bernardo is an absolute gem. The staff is friendly and genuinely welcoming, the seating is comfortable, and they're super accommodating from start to finish. The drink menu is fantastic, especially their bourbon selection--clearly well thought out. The salads are fresh and solid, but the pizzas are where this place truly shines. Their NY-style pizza is good, but the deep dish is next-level. We went custom with our own toppings (or really, fillings) and chose spinach, artichokes, and ricotta--and wow. It was bomb. The crust is incredible, the sauce is perfectly balanced, and every bite delivered. If you're looking for a locally owned spot that does pizza right and treats you well while you're there, this is it. Highly recommend.

We went as a party of 18 including 11 children ; this was coordinated a week before and refined on the day of, including starters ready in the tables when we arrive and the number of guest. Our sitting arrangement was perfect on the quiet front patio where you forget you are in a strip mall. The patio heaters took away the cold damp air and it was super pleasant. Our waiter deserved a gold medal for his warmth , kindness, stamina and overall perfect service for a group this size who then moved on to ordering individual drinks and entrees. Our grand total was just over $80 per person which is very reasonable considering the quality and amount of food ordered. Highly recommended. Book in advance for a group and you won't regret it.

Best deep dish pizza I've had in SD hands down! Not only was the service amazing, but the food was great and their prices are extremely fair. All of the ingredients are so fresh and the dough is made daily. The spot was a little noisy but we were seated quickly. There's tons of outdoor and indoor tables too!

Sometimes the golf ball isn't sensed so make sure you see that it says the ball is sensed on the screen. Otherwise if you hit it, it will not register it. There are different game modes available like driving range, trying to aim into a bucket, or playing an actual game of golf. They also have an instant replay of the hitting area so that you can review your stroke and where you hit the ball. I see the appeal in if you are wanting to try out or work on different areas of golf. Like you can play an entire game without having to be in the hot sun, or see from a top-down view of your club placement when you strike the ball. ---- Food was alright, minus half a star. We ordered the pepperoni pizza ($14) which was steaming hot when it came out and had a crispy bottom. Just a standard pepperoni pizza, nothing amazing. Ambiance wasn't "bar-like" which I liked bc while there was music playing you could still hear your own conversations. Service was great we somehow managed to hit 2 tees on top of the hitting area and they gave us another one each time. Lots of parking bc it shares it with other businesses in the plaza. ---- Overall: whether you are a golf fanatic or just want to try something out, this is a pretty great place to experience. Pricing is basically a dollar a minute you're here, but they have a wide variety of game modes available and the comfort of being indoors.

Service was great too - waiter was Latino and had an unusual name - Uberto? He's been there before and was great. Cocktail: I tried a Greenpoint, which is a take on a Brooklyn, which I guess is a take on a manhattan. It was served on the rocks - it was missing at first a little something but as it got more chilled, I think it was just warm at first, which was a little strange. But I liked it. Sourdough boule: back to fabulous this time. Very yummy in every way. Market salad: always huge and enough for 2 to split for $15-ish. This time it had berries, blue cheese and some yummy dried pears. I ate up almost every morsel. Got the striped bass too, which is a good dish. I'm not going to say it's the most spectacular thing you'll ever eat - and the parsnip puree and cauliflower were a little boring - but the fish was huge and cooked well. And I enjoyed sneaking my sweetie's fingerling potatoes that came with his beef medallions instead. He enjoyed that also - he just thought that the blanket of blue cheese on the top was a little too much. Oh - and the real reason this is a 5 star visit this time in addition to the generally good food and drink & great patio? They have live music every Sat. night - and this time it was Daniel Newheiser who was a ton of fun. Often they have great vocalists doing covers of the Eagles or Olivia Rodrigo or whatever in creative ways. But Newheiser does standards - with very creative arrangements. Bio says he has a jazz degree from USC - and it was pretty darn awesome and different from the last time we heard him a few years ago. Great to come here and do outdoor dining & have great food, drink and music year round!

The staff was very warm and welcoming, though throughout the evening it definitely felt like they may have been short staffed and stretched a bit thin. We tried the Fried Shishito Peppers, Veggie Potstickers, Grilled Broccolini, Rosemary Garlic Fries, Whipped Burrata, Garlic Noodles, Salmon Poke Tacos, and Lamb Chops. Overall, the food was decent but nothing especially memorable. The lamb chops were cooked nicely but could have used more seasoning, and the poke tacos were tasty but tiny -- literally about the size of my pinky for each taco. Our server recommended a special habanero roll, and my friend ordered the Hawaii rolls--both were excellent. Another friend ordered a burger and really enjoyed it as well, so the kitchen is definitely doing something right. Where things fell short was the service. Our server started off great--friendly and with a good vibe--but as the evening went on, things slowed down noticeably. The host was not very attentive; we had to ask multiple times for items, and drinks were delayed until our server eventually followed up. It felt like no one else was stepping in to help. There were also a few mix-ups. We ordered crème brûlée and cheesecake, but were mistakenly given bread pudding that belonged to another table. It took about 20 minutes for the server to return and let us know about the error. While it wasn't added to our bill, there wasn't much effort made to make up for the inconvenience. I also ordered another glass of wine that never arrived--though, to be fair, I wasn't charged for it. Toward the end of the night, service became even more inconsistent. We were ready to pay, but the server disappeared for a while, and when he finally took our card, he seemed distracted and took extra time chatting with another table. Overall, it's a nice spot--especially for a summer dinner--and the food is definitely worth trying. However, the service needs improvement before I'd consider coming back.

Our first visit in January we ordered the Lamb Chops which were amazing and cooked medium rare as is proper for Lamb Chops. The Salmon was cooked perfectly. Not over cooked. Skin was crispy. For appetizers, the lobster bisque was sultry and the grilled shrimp prawns can with two huge prawns with roasted vegetables. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and not dry at all. It is easy for restaurants to make thick cut pork chop dry. Not at Avant! We also ordered the Beef Wellington (a special that was not on the menu). We didn't realize the Beef Wellington was sized for two people, hence the huge up charge. Beef Wellington was cooked medium rare which how its supposed to be prepared! The crust was more like a pipe crust than puff pastry. The pate is mushroom with swiss chard. I need to address another Yelp User's review of this restaurant complaining about the Beef Wellington: 1) If you dont like your beef medium rare, DO NOT order the Beef Wellington. Ask Chef Gordon Ramsey! Medium is considered over cooked in a Beef Wellington. The meat gets dry and tough. 2) The Beef Wellington is a special (typically on the weekend) with limited quantities and is not on the menu all the time. I heard the restaurant manager let other tables know the limited quantities and he needed to know ASAP if a diner was considering the Beef Wellington. 3) Please also note that Beef Wellington takes to 30 to 40 minutes because there is a 15 to 20 minute rest time. So be sure to order appetizers also to tie you over! The service here is fantastic! Blaine was great! The atmosphere is nice in dark woods. Just the right lighting.
