I came here for lunch last Sunday with my daughter, puppy, and group of friends. I like how they have a large covered patio that is pet friendly. Now that I'm a puppy mom, I've been gravitating towards restaurants that are pet friendly. I came here with my dad a few years ago and we both had burgers and fries and thought they were really good. For this visit, I went the healthy route and ordered the Kale Quinoa Crunch Salad with grilled chicken added. I didn't care for the salad, as the parmesan cheese was so overpowering that it was the only flavor I tasted. My daughter got the Chinese Chicken Salad, mint chocolate milkshake, and sweet potato fries. She liked her salad, except the chicken was a bit on the dry side. My chicken was moist. Really like this place -- it's always clean and has a ton of great options. I find myself stopping here often, especially when I'm passing by the nearby Home Depot. I usually build my own meal, and when I'm trying to go for a slightly healthier option, I get a double grilled chicken patty with double American cheese on a wheat bun. They have a few TVs around the restaurant where you can catch whatever game is on. There's also plenty of seating and it was easy to find a table on a Friday night. You start by ordering at the counter and they bring your food out to you. The servers were easygoing and nice. My husband and I got the onion stack burger, the southwest chicken sandwich, chili cheese fries, and the short rib fries. The burger and the sandwich were delicious. The burger was nice and juicy with a good bbq sauce and crispy onions. I really liked how the sandwich had different toppings that you normally don't see on a sandwich, like tortilla strips, corn, and beans. I got the guac on the side because I'm allergic to avocado so the chicken was a tad dry but tasted really good still. It had a really nice grilled taste to it. I felt like both of the fries were just okay. They were a little soggy being covered with toppings and honestly I think the regular fries would've been better with the extra sauces we got on the side. The sauces were really good and I love that they aren't an extra cost. My favorite sauce was the Meyer lemon aioli and my husband really liked the sweet chili aioli. The server let us order as many sauces as we wanted and brought them right out to us. I really enjoyed my experience here and I would definitely go back. First time visiting the stand today because it was recommended by some family members. Right away there is lots of seating inside and outside which is great. Their menu is huge! Lots of option is great in my opinion. Shane was really nice and gave good customer service, he answered all our question since it was our first time there and he was very thorough in explaining which direction to follow to get drinks and then flow out to the outdoor seating area. I really liked that. Great food, super fresh and lots of flavor. I personally really liked my miso salmon bowl & it was huge! I couldn't finish it all. I have heard a lot about The Stand from friends, coworkers and family. Yesterday 8/17/26 I happened to be in the area shopping and had lots of time available to me. The weather was so nice that I requested to be seated on the patio. It didn't take me long to regret that decisions. The tables on the patio are covered in a sticky substance that causes dust, food, leaves etc. to stick to the table. When my server came over I requested to move and be seated inside. I always hear how great the burgers are here so I knew that's what I was getting. My lunch partner was craving a salad. They ended up selecting the Chop Cobb Salad. The Chicken was tough and very dry. It also had no flavor. The corn salsa and cherry tomatoes were completely left off the salad. We got our servers attention to request some extra salad dressing and the missing corn salsa & cherry tomatoes. We were literally half way through our meal before the server returned with the missing & requested items. I ordered the Big Blue burger. It comes with grilled onions, blue cheese & bacon. I requested extra grilled onions. Unfortunately, again they didn't deliver. A magnifying glass would have been helpful to locate the grilled onions, blue cheese and bacon. The bacon I did have was greasy, mini crumbs. The burger also comes with BBQ sauce. The burger was literally floating in BBQ sauce. I scraped most of it off and I know there was more than a 1/4 cup on my plate. Even our server commented on the volume of BBQ. Speaking of our server it was definitely hit & miss. At first they were all over us and checked back many times to see if we were ready to order. Once our food was brought to the table we never saw the server again until the server or The Stand decided it was time to pay the bill. We probably left 3/4 of the salad and close to half of the burger. You couldn't taste anything on the burger except BBQ sauce. I hope our experience was just a bad day for several at The Stand. I would definitely come eat here again if I am in the neighborhood. - French Onion Soup Burger ($13.25): This was the best and most unique burger on their menu. The bun was so soft and fresh. The meat patty (which we ordered well-done) was juicy and packed with flavor. The additional au jus was an explosion of savory umami broth. I definitely would recommend that everyone try this. - The Onion Stack Burger ($12.75): This was a yummy burger too (same flavorful and tender meat patty, soft bun), but nothing too special compared to BBQ cheeseburgers at other restaurants. I was debating between this one and the Havarti shroom burger, & I kind of wish I had tried the shroom burger instead because it definitely sounded more interesting. - Onion rings regular ($4.99): Very crunchy batter with tender onions. I would definitely recommend including this as a side. - French fries regular ($3.75): When our order came, I was like "is this a portion size of fries for ANTS?" We ordered an abc burger, chicken club sandwich, large side salad, large red ginger green beans, sweet potato fries and lemon meyer aioli, and an orange cream soda float. Both the ABC burger and the chicken club sandwich were served on delicious brioche buns. We appreciate that the chicken was light on salt, and you can always add a sauce (for free) and choose your own adventure. We enjoyed the chicken sandwich more than the burger, due to its smokey char and a more complex combination of flavors. Nothing wrong with the burger, it's a safe choice. We love the green beans! It's charred and then topped with a sweet chili and gingery sauce. The large side salad was an easy way to make sure we get some more greens in. Marena, one of the bartenders, is fabulous. Not only does she remember our typical food and drink order, she is clearly working hard everyday. She hustles with helping as many people as she can to make light work for others and she's constantly stocking and cleaning while being incredibly friendly with patrons. I've eaten at The Stand at other locations when I lived in LA. I love a place with a good hearty salad. The Cobb chop is full of proteins. The only complaint I have about the salad is that the chicken is dry. I do need a lot of dressing to cover that. But the huge bacon bits are welcomed. I haven't had the burgers so cannot tell you how they are. I do, however, love the fries! When you join the rewards program, the app gives you a free fries. I especially love the various sauces you can request. The jalapeño aioli is a must-order. I can't take much spice but find myself enjoying it tremendously. It goes beyond just spice. You can taste the savoriness of the jalapeño. One thing I want to mention is that there is this one server there that is selective with who to be nice to. One of my favorite burger places in San Diego! The Stand is absolutely delicious & so worth the money. Prices are pretty reasonable to me and their portion sizes are great. This location has always been reliable. I've only ever had one hiccup here but the manager fixed it immediately. There's indoor and outdoor seating, both are clean and comfy. There's also seating at the bar, inside and outside, that's good if you're coming alone. The beers on tap are always cold and tasty. There's a good variety of food without being too overwhelming.
