Local business, I guess that's the theme I kind of adopted. This place certainly fits the bill…read more It's an eyeglass shop... And an ice skating shop.. And they have three golden retrievers roaming around looking for free pets and snuggles. Small business, owners always on site, lots of one on one help. Doctor is in on Fridays so plan accordingly and business hours are reflective of the owners being the employees ( I'd close early on Saturday too). Lots of selection! Each time we go I find something different that looks cute on me. I joked that I'd like to go there just try to try on specs. There's little candy dishes everywhere that I like to take advantage of and at the door there's a little toy section to entertain the kiddies. I love these play areas, it reminds of a candy shop my mom used to buy supply at and I would play with the "little people's" house and get a sugar treat on the way out. I don't mind the dogs roaming around, but if you have allergies keep it in mind. Cons, can't really find one. Insurance covered our visit so I won't complain about that here. Can't speak to the ice skating side of it either but a family friend of ours is a part of the GC skating club and they frequent here. Hope to "peep" you here, pun intended!!!

It's always a crap shoot when you move and must find a new doctor & dentist of some sort. If you've…read morehad a really good one and have to find a replacement you know how easy it is to end up in a bad situation with a new doctor or dentist. We've been fortunate so far in finding new doctors & a dentist since our move to Livonia. I would certainly consider myself fortunate for finding Marston Optometry. The previous reviewers all have it correct in stating how awesome this practice is. From the front desk staff, to the technician, to the optometrist, to the optician this place has exceeded my expectations. I have gotten to the place where I needed reading glasses and after researching a number of different places I chose Marston and am very glad I did. They were able to schedule an appointment that was convenient for me and wasn't several weeks out. I was greeted quickly and warmly by Carroll upon arriving and was only waiting a matter of a few minutes till Yolanda, optometric technician, came to get me. Yolanda explained every step in the process and seemed to genuinely love her job. Soon after Yolanda was finished, the doctor came in and completed my exam. No where in the process did the doctor try to sell me any products or embellish the results of my exam in order to up-sell me any unnecessary glasses. She was honest and explained everything in detail. After the exam, I was escorted to Mindy, optician, to discuss my options regarding reading glasses. I was concerned that this would now be the chance for them to try and sell me overpriced, unnecessary items. However, Mindy was very pleasant & helpful and not once tried to sell me anything or talk me into buying anything. She answered all of my questions and laid out all of my options without putting on the hard sell. I explained to Mindy that I was travelling out of the country for a couple of weeks and was hoping to get my glasses before I left. My request was rather challenging because this was only 1.5 weeks before I was scheduled to fly out. Nonetheless, Mindy told me that she works with several different labs and had one that she was confident could expedite my glasses. The Wednesday-Thursday before I was scheduled to fly out was when "Snowmageddon" hit SE Michigan, and I was concerned that this would delay my glasses. It was a pleasant surprise when Mindy called me to reassure me that my glasses should still be ready by Friday. In spite of the terrible weather Mindy called me Friday morning to let me know my glasses were in and could be picked up. Wow! So many businesses had closed die to the weather, yet the staff at Marston were still taking care of their patients. The staff at Marston has taken great care of me and I would highly recommend this practice to anyone that may need an optometrist.

After I got my eye exam, I went over to the store area to purchase my glasses. It went pretty smoothly and good with associate Ashley. But there was no effort to help with the style and if they would work for me and on my face frame, which is very important when you get glasses. It was a very fast process. Pick what you want, pay and get out. I would have appreciated her to say these glasses are heavy, the nose bridge is low etc... and after talking with other people that have been trained with LensCrafters Corp they should have mentioned those factors before purchasing. When I went to pick up my glasses, the girl Ashley didn't even remember who I was and was calling a wrong phone number to let me know they were in. Luckily I called. When I finally got the glasses, both were a complete misfit and left red marks all over my nose from the pressure and had to take them back because of that. But before I took them back I went in for a readjustment with the Saturday tired crew. Even with the "so-called" readjustment they were both (sunglasses and reg glasses) still a misfit. Stephanie was the associate on duty and offered no recommendations or anything. This place is worth the eye exam with the Doctors there but take your prescription and buy your glasses elsewhere.

I soon found out that Dean is a personal stylist there and he does a fantastic job connecting with people and helping them find the perfect pair of glasses. You can really tell he enjoys his job! The African American woman, hands down love her! She's down to earth, funny, personable, and also connects to customers very well. The manager, shes lovely and very welcoming too. The only odd ball of the group is Alan, one of the opticians. He's one of those "one of these things is not like the other". They sat me down with him so he could input my info, and it was like talking to an automation machine. To be honest, it doesn't seem like he fits with the culture there. I'm asking him questions about what my vision insurance covers and he's giving non detailed answers and kept asking if I wanted to finalize and purchase. Almost like he didn't want to be there and trying to end the conversation. Major turn off. I was so happy when I walked away from his table. Nobody wants to deal with that negative space. One bad apple shouldn't ruin the overall bushel so I'm going to keep the 5 stars listed because everybody else was amazing and really made me enjoy my glasses hunting experience.
