They did not know how to plan enough time for driving from Des Moines Iowa to Branson MO. We were ALWAYS behind. Schedule always being changed because not planned well.Bad seats at the Sight & Sound. Hardly enough time to eat some meals before getting to a show then late for the show because Applebee's wasn't prepared with staff for us. Terrible old bus that was jerky. Driver headed south at Kansas City instead of north going home. A passenger finally went up front and asked hi. Why we were going south. That put us way further behind. Passenger also had to tell him where to go in Kansas City. Office scheduled the stop at Country Club Plaza which has now been overtaken by the homeless. Office person did terrible planning. They never even passed out bottled water. On all my other bus trips they pass out water and snacks. I wouldn't travel with them. read more

It was a rip off tour. Most of the passengers on these tours are seniors . Savannah-Charleston We were on the bus most of the time. Didn't get a iteninary till a few days before we left. THE iteninary was over-crowded, that we didn't have time to enjoy any attraction. How do you get thru a museum in less than a hour. We stay at hotel/motel dumps with lousy cold breakfast,dirty (one smell of mold) and no baggage handler. Did not have rooms reserve 3 of the 7 nights. Ate on the run and the 2 meals they offered was for a $10 Cracker Barrel. The tour guide also didn't help we watch 4 movies, no games, no singing no fun activities and very few interesting facts. No group pictures. I would not recommend this tour company. read more

We were scheduled to go on their northeast tours of the leaves October 8, 2023. Didn't get the itinerary till 8 days before and that is only because I demanded it be emailed. Called the hotels that were on the itinerary and surprise surprise..... most hotels did not have the reservations like Toni and Steve told me. I canceled my trip with them! Going on our own and know we have hotels and transportation all guaranteed. Think twice before using this tour company. read more

I am nice giving 1 star. Our October 2022 trip in honor of my deceased mom was a complete rip off. I will never understand how a business can promise specific locations to visit, take your money, and be ok with the fact that they did not deliver. That is wrong on so many levels and I am reading that the problem is still happening. Don't waste your money like I did. read more

ELITE GOODE MACKINAC ISLAND TOUR 2/5 This was our first and possibly last bus tour. Other than a delightful day on Mackinac Island the trip was fraught with problems. Apparently, this was the first time this tour - from Omaha to Mackinac Island was over five days - previous tours were six days. Unfortunately, the tour group didn't change the itinerary so the other stops along the way were either late or rushed or both. Accommodations were hit and miss - two of the hotels were okay and two were substandard. Only one of the hotels had a full breakfast, another was out of everything except pancakes. Our attractions included: - Abraham Lincoln Museum - outstanding but what should have been a 4-hour tour was shortened to less than two - Meijer Gardens and Sculpture - fascinating but again 2 hours when at least four was needed. - Tulip Festival - this tour description was misleading. We expected to see over five million tulips in bloom instead we set in the rain and watched a two-hour parade hosted by the city of Holland, Michigan - that apparently has 50 school marching bands. (the rain, obviously was not the fault of the tour. - Tour of Notre Dame was cancelled due to 'protestors' at the school. No other tour was substituted or suggested and we deadheaded for 12 hours back to Omaha. Meals - Lunch at Coral Ridge Mall food court that included several good options - Dinner at Peoria Water Front area was a bust. The tour guide didn't have any idea about what restaurants were there and apparently did not understand that many restaurants are closed on Monday so we ended up driving about for 45 minutes and finally parked on a side street in walking distance of a Chili's and Texas Roadhouse. - Tuesday lunch was a little better. The schedule was to eat at Wendy's . Someone suggested that dumping fifty of us at a Wendys' at noon was not a great idea so we parked in another parking lot within walking distance of a Subway and another fast-food place - Wednesday night was almost a disaster. When we stopped at Meijer Gardens at 4pm and given 2 hours to tour I mentioned to the tour guide that spending two hours (which really wasn't enough) would get us into Mackinaw City after nine oclock and most restaurants would be closed. The guide, said: "no, it is a two-hour drive." We arrived at our hotel at 10 pm. Part of the delay was the terrible storm. About three hours into the drive passengers begin to complain that the diabetics on board needed to eat. This resulted in the guide screaming at a passenger that she was "working on it." To her credit she called ahead and had several pizzas delivered to the hotel. - Lunch on Thursday was at the 'parade' and several food trucks - nice variety (a Walking Taco was kind of cool.) - Dinner Thursday was at Bob Evans. A little slow but given that two tour buses arrived at the same time, it was okay. - Lunch on Friday was back at Coral Ridge mall. - Mid-morning breaks were at truck stops or once at a Highway Rest Stops Some high points included: - Baggage handling by the bus driver - bags delivered to the door at night and picked up outside the door in the morning - The driver, Van from Navigator Busses out of Fremont, Nebraska, was excellent especially on a scary four-hour drive from Meijer Gardens to Mackinaw City in a horrendous thunderstorm with tornados on our tail. - Our trip to Mackinac Island on the ferry and a lovely day on the island (the sun came out) The carriage ride around the island and brunch at the spectacular Grand Hotel were the highlights of the entire trip. Some low points - We have a saying in Texas that you can say just about anything about somebody if we preface your comment with "bless his/her heart." I expected a running dialogue of interesting facts along the way and other than learning that Grand Rapids was the River City with a population of 111,000, there was very little of that. The entire tour seemed to be run by the seat of your pants - last minutes decisions. - Having never been on a bus tour we expected comfortable seats and socializing with other passengers. The seats were less comfortable than an airline seat - without a fold down tray, cup holders, or storage. So if you came on board with a cup of coffee you held in your hand until it was gone. We struck up a conversation with the folks across the aisle and had dinner a couple of times but that was the extent of our socialization. - We expected at some we would have gotten together as a group and introduced ourselves and 'mingled.' - Cancelling the Notre Dame tour on the last day and not even suggesting an alternative was very disappointing. The tour guide seemed almost giddy that 'we get to go home early Guys!!' That is hardly the point of a five day tour. Summary - We take much of the responsibility for our disappointment because we failed to look more carefully at the itinerary and look at reviews of the tour company. read more

eft the first day without a paying passenger. Only after the entire trip did I find out there was a bathroom on the bus. Another passenger said the tour guide did not want us to use it. There were many difficulties with tour company failing to pay for items. Tour guide was supposed to have name tags for all passengers. Tour guide did not present inf, did not make announcements, we did not know what to expect. Bus driver was cussing at various times and yelled at me. The owner of Elite Tours threatened to remove me and my luggage in Colorado. There were no national park guides at various locations as promised to us. A hotel was not paid in advance and don't know if Elite Tours ever paid them. We had to eat mostly convenience store and junk food most of the week. Elite Tours was unable to pay for entrance to two national parks and a passenger paid for all. Tour guide did not call and check in with Elite Tours as requested, presenting problems. Tour guide did not communicate with the park rangers at all. We had no info of what to visit at the parks. We backtracked on the routes and wasted travel time. Tour guide was not confident that we would have paid tickets to get into some parks. We were allowed to stay a few minutes at a couple museums, not worth the trip there. Tour guide 'claimed' her phone wasn't working all week. She just didn't want to do her job. Some hotels did not have a reservation for our group of about 50 people. The schedule, hotels, and locations visited were changed on a regular basis. After the trip I found out we were supposed to have luggage service at each hotel. After the trip I found out the bus had a bathroom, tour guide would not allow bathroom use, requiring so many stops each day. The tour guide/bus driver told passengers to call the 800 number for Elite as the tour guide did not handle daily problems. I was required to deal on the phone with the owner of Elite Tours just to acquire info. The tour guide spoke ill of the owner of Elite Tours. She was fired at the end of the trip. Passengers frequently did not know when we were leaving in the morning or at various stops. Passengers with diabetes were unable to eat some of the food at the fast food locations. The tour owner kept saying he has done this for 36 years. In that case he should know how to plan a successful tour. The tour owner never provided an apology for anything and falsely accused me of some things. read more

We booked a tour to the Grand Canyon. The website looked fine. Nice hotel and restaurants listed. This company caters to seniors. Most of the hotels got switched to really dirty hotels. The meals were mostly fast food. The tour guide didn't know much about where we were staying and a lady on the bus paid for our admittance into several parks. The itinerary said someone would take care of our luggage. I fact, the men on the bus unloaded our baggage. We did get help on occasion by the hotel staff. Tour guide blamed the owner as did the driver. I'm not asking for my money back as we met some great seniors and saw some wonderful sights. I will never go back to this company again. Shame on them for taking advantage of seniors. read more

I've been on five tours with Elite and had a great experience with all five. The first trip we had Beth as our tour guide, Lori twice and Janice twice on the other trips. Each trip we had experienced tour guides who worked extremely hard, had to be creative at times (because things don't always go as planned) and made sacrifices to insure everyone enjoyed the tour. I like Elite tours for several reasons: 1) They pack a lot of good sites and places into the tour which I like. I like to see as much as I can. 2) The cost is very reasonable considering all you get to see. 3) Steve is the sweetest man and so pleasant to deal with. The list goes on. My husband especially liked the DC tour with all the history. I loved South Padre and Maine but like I said they were all good. Terrible experience on Savannah/Charleston Trip. Missed things that were promised on an itinerary that I never received prior to going on this trip. My mother booked this trip and requested prior to leaving that her hotel rooms have grab bars in the showers and only 2 of the rooms had these even tho she was told that they would be provided for her. With the exception of 2 hotels, the rest were subpar and dirty and one of them was on a hill with no bus parking which meant that all travelers had to haul their luggage up a hill to the hotel. Most travelers are seniors and that is just unacceptable for a tour company to book a hotel that does not accomodate their clientele properly. We did not see the lighthouse we were promised, we did not go to the Charleston city market because the streets were not accessible by our bus, our plantation we were supposed to tour the house and see a Gullah presentation but you could only do one or the other as we didn't have time for both due to poor planning and time allowance. When we went to Savannah for our historic district tour downtown, the company did not have the proper licensure for the bus so we had to wait on the bus for 30 minutes while our driver and tour guide had to go get the certificate we needed to tour the district...UNACCEPTABLE that we had to miss 30 minutes of our time when the company should have had all of this prior to our leaving. They also booked us to go to the aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia at 5:45 p.m. on a Monday....really?? Prime rush hour traffic and they thought we would get to the aquarium at 5:45. Needless to say, we didn't get there until 7 and it's only open until 8 and we were also supposed to eat our dinner at their cafe which closed at 7:30....so you could either rush in and eat and miss the aquarium or rush around the aquarium and not eat and not see everything because you didn't have enough time. If you like gas station and fast food, then elite goody tours is the trip for you. The majority of our meals were in fast food districts or gas stations... Just a few things you should consider before wasting your money with elite goody tours....I tried to resolve my issues with Steve by sending a personal email to him. He, however, didn't want to hear anything i had to say. He called me and tried to speak over me and tell me he had no control over traffic (which most of my problems with this trip had nothing to do with traffic) and he wanted me to know that he had been in business for 36 years and his business is doing great. I just wanted people to know that if you have problems on this tour, know that he has no interest in rectifying the situation and reimbursing for things you paid for and did not get....BUYER BEWARE read more

DO NOT Recommend anyone use this Travel company. Our Seniors group had a trip to New York for next week. Well, when the caronavirus PANDEMIC came around, no one wanted to go. Plus, All the Attractions we paid for were CLOSED UP. Steve said he was still sending the bus line, because HE would lose lots of money. He has All OUR money. We know the Attractions are giving refunds. He bought non returnable rooms. Why would a bus load of SENIORS go to New York City at this Time, risking their lives? Also, Nothing to do when you get there. Any Reputable company would work this out, not pocket the money being refunded. Why should the insurance have to pay us back, minus our deposit? This is what we call GREED. Do the right thing. read more

I and 5 friends toured Pioneer woman in Oklahoma, Chip and JoAnna Gains in Waco Texas, our Driver and tour Guide was excellent, they was so embarrassed by the hotel we had to stay in and restaurants we were suppose to go to but last minute cut them out and would only pay partial toward a meatless meal, we had to pay for meat and tip the whole bill ! our hotels we're flop houses at best ! no working showers, toilets, tvs and soaking wet carpets, filthy is putting it mild ! we got to one nice hotel and it was booked for the wrong night so it was late getting in a hotel but lucky it was a new one so everything worked and was clean ! it was a new bus with bare minimum , one cup holder for 2 people, no pocket on the backs of seats , video monitors that did fold when not in use and located just above seats to bang your head on. don't use this company . thank God we enjoyed the places we toured and the people we met on the bus. out of 55 people they won't get one good review. read more

we took the tour to michigan with elite tours I have written on review and it has dissappeared so I will rewrite another,I was in the tour buisness for 8 years and never in my entire life have I ever been subjected to such a mismanaged unorganized misrepresented advertised trip not only were we forced to be held on the bus without stopping for food,the bus leaked we were told that things were closed that werent stops were eliminated,our highlight stops that were promised were shortened to a hr and 15 minutes,our bus coordinator was rude and unaccomadating to several passengers,the hotels 2 were filthy and definetly 1 star my husbands queen bed had soiled sheets,filthy toilet seat,,,arriving at river front in peoria on monday night several restraunts were closed,passengers were forced to use their app to direct bus driver to restraunt to feed bus,trip was nightmare...stops were made at gas stations to grab food if you are hungry..while bus filled up..very very unorganized,have never experienced such a rude escourt,when called elite contacting owner who was in fla was told we will talk with her,then she would get worse..it was like being held hostage on a bus.the driver was nice..however bus was old no back up cameras seats were uncompfortable we were told to refrain from using bathroom,bus leaked when raining,stopped at walmart to get towels to soak up water running down isle of bus...entertainment consists of a couple movies,the trip to macinaw from illinois was staight shot no stop for supper 2 pm on bus no stop no supper didnt arrive till 945 pm has to call home office owner to get her to order some food as restraunts in macinaw closed.she ordered pizza to hotel cold pizza no drinks 48 people who had not ate since 2 pm been on a bus many srs some diabetics yes it was a nightmare!!!! DONT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO A RELAXING CARE FREE TRIP!! AND I FORGOT TO MENTION READ THE OTHER REVIEWS ON HERE!! He is a great negotiator and consistently seeks THE BEST available accommodations-- at the best possible rates ---to meet not only his clients needs---- but their expectations as well! Since the beginning of our working relationship, I have found Steve to be very fair, honest, and GENUINELY kind! In my many years as a Sales Manager.....I can honestly say that unfortunately.... in this business...it's hard to come by a really "genuine" and caring Tour Operator that has their customers' best interests in mind. Steve is the kind of Tour Operator I WOULD WANT if I were touring and would be my FIRST pick if I had the time to do so! I recently went on Elite's Western Wonders Tour....what a horrible experience it was! They advertise deluxe coaches, what we got was a bus with over 400,000 miles on it and no footrests. They advertised quality accommodations, what we got was cheap, crappy motels. Many did not even have elevators. There were several elderly people on our tour and they had to climb 2-3 flights of stairs to get to their room. One poor lady fell on the uneven steps at one of the crummy motels and ended up in the ER! Also, one place had bugs in the rooms and moldy showers. They advertised luggage handling, we stayed at two different places with no luggage handlers. One of the places didn't even have access for the bus. Several of us had to unload the bus and carry everyone's luggage to their room....and the next morning lug all of luggage back to the bus. The other place, I had to haul my luggage up 2 flights of steps to my room. They advertised knowledgeable tour guides. While out tour guide was a very lovely lady, he didn't know anything about any of the places we went. In addition, the route was very poorly planned. We had 2 days in a row when we were on the bus for 17 hours!!! Didn't get to our motels until after midnight. Being on the bus so long resulted in many people's legs and feet swelling. This was a huge health risk for the elderly diabetic people on the bus. I will NEVER tour with Elite Tours again. I ( and many others) have asked for a refund from this horrible company. I only hope Steve sees this ,as I don't know how to get ahold of him. I went on the Genisis tour ( March4-10) while I have to say the Ark and Creation meusum themselves were very interesting and everything I expected and more! Cincinnati was o.k. too. The rest of the trip was a trip from hell, I've been on several bus tours none with this company, and I've never seen a more unorganized tour guide, never knew where we were going to eat, let alone afforded enough time, many bathroom stops were at places with one hole, when 1 mile down the road was a major truck stop. As if that wasn't enough she complained the whole time " I'm cold", " I'm allergic to snow", (which might have been funny if she was joking but it got old) , " I'll never do Steve a favor like this again".......you get the picture. Then there's the bus driver! Was doing o.k. until we got to Cincinnati, I don't think there was a curb he didn't miss, besides side swiping a pole, and on the way home our luggage compartment came open, and they had to "jerry rig" it down. Luckily I think every one got home with their luggage. I know it's taken awhile to write this review but I came home to floods, and my mom got pneumonia and I had to care for her. Elite Tours runs advertising with me here at our local News Paper, and i have never heard any bad reviews regarding his trips. Unfortunately it sounds like he had a little mishap with this last one, but I'm sure he did everything in his power to rectify any problems. working with Steve for the Last Three years i can gaurantee that if there were problems unfortunatly they were out of his hands and out of his control, but i do feel that he would have done everything he could to make things right! Unfortunately things do happen! and i would not hesitate to book a trip or another trip with Elite Tours. Steve has been been doing these trips for many many years, and has some very reasonable and exciting trips to offer. There were some problems on the 2012 New England Elite Tour which Elite has been trying their best to work out. The original coordinator had become ill and another one who with the help of a former bus driver felt she could handle the tour. The requested driver chosen for the trip was replaced by the bus company.... he admitted on the tour that he was not ready and compromised our trip. Another tour with the same schedule as ours left the day after we did. They were on time for everything, missed nothing, and we have been told had a wonderful time. Our trip had problems but we do understand what went wrong and do plan to travel with Elite again. My husband and I have been on nine Elite Tours. We have also traveled with mmy mother, bot daughters, and two sister-in-laws on these tours. The trips prior to this one have been wonderful with great drivers and coordinators at very reasonable prices. Elite tour really strive to make their trip well planned and affordable. read more

After great persuasion from owner Steve, we boarded another Elite Bus Tour and went to DC in 2013. This time we had an experienced guide and the trip did go better. Expect LOTS of walking in DC. We chose to fly home from DC and Steve did let our bags come home on the bus. Steve has called asking me to remove the original review. I won't because that trip was horrid but the errors on the trip to DC weren't bad and DC is not a place I would care to drive in. That, Steve, is as good as my review is going to get so please don't call again. read more
