After getting 5 on-site quotes from various flooring installers, we knew we had made the right decision by hiring Aleksey and his talented crew at Elite Hardwood Flooring. Our job consisted of pulling up rooms of old carpet as well as an old kitchen hardwood floor, and replacing it all with 3/4" engineered wood from a Canadian company called Mirage. Elite's quote for materials and labor was not the most expensive nor the least, but when going through our house, Aleksey thought of questions, spotted issues, AND thought of solutions that no one else had asked about or even noticed. He was also the only one who told us that he could carefully remove our elaborate wooden baseboards without breaking most or all of them. Every other place simply said we would likely need to replace it all. As a result, their pricing was actually lower than anyone else if you take into account the cost we saved by not having to replace one single piece of baseboard. He was meticulous, measuring three times before ordering materials just to make sure he got the numbers right. Installation went smoothly and included work like grinding down areas of our foundation that were not smooth, moisture testing, coating of the slab with a moisture barrier, etc. They also made sure they installed the wood in a manner that will allow the kitchen appliances to be removed without damaging the floor, when the time comes that they need to be replaced. Again, no one else we spoke with even mentioned any of this. There were transitions between floorings of some rooms that were at different heights. For some of the areas, Aleksey did not care for the off the shelf transitions that companies sell. Instead, he and his crew crafted their own transition pieces & thresholds that looked beautiful and did the job. Far more elegant and unintrusive. They did the same for the transitions between stone surrounding fireplaces and one bathroom. Everything was carefully thought through. The guys showed up at 8 AM and sometimes worked until 5 or 6 pm if they were trying to get certain things done. They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, polite and cleaned up after themselves. Communication with Aleksey was always good. Elite Hardwood & Flooring is not simply an installation company. They are craftsmen that take a great deal of pride in their work and the results show it. We could not be happier with the job they did and highly recommend them. We had a lot of work lined up and he came over on a Saturday to take a look in person and provided a quote on the spot. He was very clear with the work that was to be done, scheduling it quickly. We contacted Fiodar to potentially refinish the hardwood floors in our house. He was quick to respond and came over early next day to assess the state of the floors in person. He advised against a refinish, stating that the floors were showing signs of normal wear and tear, and recommended a re-polish instead for added protection. Mind you that some of the companies that I contacted were happy to refinish the floors, a significantly larger and more expensive job, based on photos alone. Throughout the process, he patiently responded to all of our questions in details, and was upfront and clear about what he could and could not guarantee with a re-polishing job. In the end, we decided against a re-polishing as the schedule did not fit our timeline, which was a bummer, but wanted to leave Fiodar and his company a great review for his exceptional service and professionalism. Should we need to do any hardwood related work in the future, Elite Hardwood will be the first (and very likely last) place that we'll contact! read more

Not only can I attest to their five-star rating, but if I could give Fiodar and his team more than five stars, I would gladly do so. I'd first contacted Fiodar for a free consultation through the Elite Hardwood Flooring phone number provided on Yelp, and with his response coming within minutes of my reaching out, was immediately struck by his professionalism. I mean, based on his Yelp reviews, I had expected a fast response time, but I hadn't expected it to be so immediate! We scheduled our consultation for the next week. With this being our first house, I knew absolutely nothing about the staining process, and am immensely grateful to Fiodar for guiding us through it step-by-step. When we'd bought the house, I'd just known that I wanted to change the original dated, yellow staining to a more modern walnut-brown one (See Pic A and Pic B). Meeting us at the new place for the consultation, Fiodar knowledgeably explained to us that the damage and scratches of the original floors were actually caused by the previous owners' pets, and pointed us to any warping in the wood. It's obvious that Fiodar knows his stuff. We finished with him pricing the flooring, which ended up being reasonable, especially given how professional of a job it was. A short while later, while we were running errands, Fiodar and his team began the process by sanding down our floors (see Pic C), and from an inspiration picture I'd shown him, had a few similar stain samples ready from which we could choose (Pic D). To get the exact walnut-brown color for which we were looking, he even mixed stains to find the perfect shade. While all the stains were stunning, to match the coziness of our home, we settled on the warm-toned Antique Brown/Espresso mix stain with Satin finish, shown in Pic F. This stain matched our inspiration photo to a tee! However, our favorite work from Elite Hardwood is shown in Pic E. This wooden bridge between the kitchen and dining room had originally jutted out a centimeter or two, and we had begun tripping on it from the moment we toured the house. It really was becoming a hazard, especially given the elderly family members that would be staying with us. We weren't sure if Fiodar did anything other than hardwood floor sanding and staining, but when consulting him about the problem, he kindly offered to sand down the part that jutted out, free of charge! His assistant painstakingly sanded down the area by hand, for hours. Thanks to Fiodar, none of my family has tripped on this wooden panel since. With the stain finished, the floors were completely dry and ready for use within just two days. We had been able to move most of our boxes and furniture into the garage while Fiodar and his team had been working, so from then on, it was easy to move our things in to the house. First home always comes with a lot of stress, doubts and loads of confusion! When we looked at options to refinish vs laying new flooring we got varying opinions from contractors some who said the floor is a total goner and we need to get new flooring and some who said it can only partly because finished. I did not have the heart to throw away such good quality wood and wanted to retain it. Looking at the Yelp reviews we decided to ask Fiodar who was so friendly and upfront since the first conversation. Usually they don't cater to the South Bay but we got lucky with the scheduling and managed to have him over to check out. He was very confident of what they could achieve and gave us the confidence to know we had good flooring that just needed a refinishing. He came in with the crew the morning we were to start and gave me a detailed idea of the process and gave us options for the stain.
