Instead, after all of that, I was offered "a couple of highlights," which felt like too little, too late considering everything I'd already gone through. For $300 and a $60 tip, it really should have been better.

The service at Claudia Curl isn't what you'd expect from a salon on Hope Street. Claudia herself isn't that warm or accommodating, and operates the shop with a 'not my problem' attitude. What the stylists do is their own business, and Claudia makes no exception to that, which you just cannot do in this industry.
