There was a translator and a roofer that came by. We got the roof fixed in a day (2 days after Christmas). They arrived on time, and completed the work in less than the estimated time. It rained within a week of the work, and the leak was nonexistent There was very little debris left on the ground, and it looks nice -- I was worried it would be totally different from the rest of the roof, but it's not too noticeable. He was very pushy and so into himself that I had a difficult time getting him to listen so I could ask questions. He finally hung up on me. I'm looking for a licensed contractor to correct the shoddy work of another licensed contractor. Consequently I'm working from the basis of an expensive hard earned lesson. So I wanted it clear I have my requirements and want assurance they will be met. Joel refused to listen, wanted to argue, tell me what to think, told me I should instead hire a handyman (and that my previous licensed contractor was just a handyman). Then he hung up on me. Oh, I did finally get out of him in answer to my question, that Greenlight Building Services has a $500 minimum. My conclusion from this phone call is this company is pushy, will not listen, and therefore cannot be trusted.

Thomas Sommer is a great contractor and a genuinely fantastic human being…read more My parents spent a large portion of their savings to purchase a home in San Diego to be closer to family. Soon after they moved to their new home which was built only 3 years before they purchased it, it became clear there was a signings that construction defect on the second floor with a large leak into the ceiling which was due to incorrect installation of a sliding door. This was a known defect which had not been transparently disclosed by the prior owner. We attempted to contact the contractor who had built the home without success. After months of meeting with other contractors to get this door replaced and reinstalled, we found Sommer Construction. Thomas met with us and was incredibly empathetic - he insisted that rather than repair it himself - he would help us contact the home builder and facilitate the repair being done under warranty. When we first heard this idea, we didn't really want to go down this path because we didn't think there was any way this could work. Given the long ordeal, we simply wanted to pay for it and have it repaired without the hassle of arguing and fighting with someone (especially given that Covid was ongoing). After speaking to Tom and considering how expensive the repair was going to be, we thought why not give it a chance. Tom was convinced that this repair should be repaired under warranty by the person who built the home. It seemed to good to be true that someone would go through all of this hassle and go out of their way to help us get this done. This just speaks to the kind of person Thomas is, he tracked down the original builder and held him responsible for the repair. He then guided us through the negotiations and repairs with the original contractor - taking time out of his busy schedule all because he is a genuinely good and empathetic human being. It is so refreshing to meet someone like this and we cannot express how grateful we are to Thomas Sommer. He gives contractors a good name. If you read the other reviews you will quickly see that this is just the way that Thomas is and how he runs his company. The more we got to know Thomas we found that he is simply a man of principle first and foremost. If we ever need any project done, he is the first person we would call for sure! Sadly, I'm updating my review and it isn't good…read more The grout on the kitchen floor is coming out all over at a year and nine months. There's only one person in the house and with the pandemic, nobody else has been here. There isn't much traffic in that room. I contacted Thomas on 1/11/21. I asked about a warranty and explained about the grout and that the floor was creaking. He was a bit defensive - he'd done the job right - but said to call him back in a week and we'd look into it. I called again on 1/20/21 as requested; no response. I called again 1/28; no response. Ghosting your clients when there is an issue with your work is really problematic. Even if the warranty is over, it's best to find out what has happened. For this, I'm going to hire someone else to regrout and I think the problem should be solved - I've since realized the creaking is coming only where the tiles are missing grout so it should be an easy fix. That said, you should think twice about using Sommer Construction; what if the situation is bigger? And, if it is, you can always claim against his Contractors bond with the State of CA to get resolution if he ghosts you.

They repaired this but then decided not to tell my HOA about a small crack at the top of the retaining wall and instead painted the whole top of the retaining wall with a latex material. The retaining wall is stucco and should have been first brought to the attention of the HOA since it was outside of the SOW and then it should have been repaired with a stucco patch not this non stucco laytex material. The company first denied even painting the retaining wall with anything Then after my managment company called them to Inquire about it, the owner came and said they did it and that they won't be coming back at all to remove and fix with the proper material. We then had to have Protech ( our maint company) come and do the repairs. This is so unprofessional of California Construction Concepts to handle this matter in such a way. It cost more to have Protech come and fix what California Construction Concepts did. WOULD BEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!

Not only that but responsive to our suggestions and requests. There were necessary "change orders" required. He did it all basically himself with only limited assistance. I personally worked with Jeremy and a couple of his contracted workers and found them all to be fair and responsive, all a pleasure to meet and very competent. All the work was completed in a timely and reasonable rate and manor. Jeremy went beyond the norm to keep us fully informed of the progress and to meet our needs. His work was so good and efficient that I contracted with his company to complete additional work specifically for my benefit. Again I was impressed with his work ethic, thoroughness and effencenicy throughout this phase. I would definately use Calibuilt again and recommend him to others. Our experience with Calibuilt was beyond expectations. Also, I never worried about the security issues with giving someone access to your home. I found them to be very trustworthy!
