Twin sissy birthday trip. We had 2 free nights due to my sister being a club card holder. Hannah was ready for us and gave us a sweet birthday card from the front staff. Wow so nice and totally unexpected!! Rooms are a bit dated (& super thin walls...heard neighbor snoring all night) but well appointed. Robes, slippers, beach towels, keurig for coffee and tea and waters. Mini fridge, safe, hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower cap, and scope mouthwash. This is a non-smoking casino, but there is a designated smoking area for those that partake. I loved coming home, not wreaking of smoke! Lol. So many great old school and new slots. Table games roulette craps was a blast. We actually came home in THE BLACK! The grounds are beautiful and they have a golf course but we don't golf. There is a beautiful rose garden with so many beautiful varieties of roses. The pool is pretty basic and small but you can order food to be delivered. Room service was amazing. I recommend the breakfast burrito and omelette. Thank you for making our little getaway so fun and memorable. Cannot wait to see you all again soon.

Dear Barona Casino Management, I never imagined I would be…read morewriting a letter like this. For many years, I have been a loyal VIP member and have spent countless hours and dollars at Barona. I wasn't just another customer--I truly believed I was valued. The way Barona presents itself made me feel like I had found a place that cared about its guests--a place that felt like home. Over the past several months, my life has changed because I have been battling a serious illness . My illness and treatments have kept me from visiting and earning the tier points I once maintained. It wasn't because I chose to stop coming--it was because I simply couldn't. I understand that because I haven't been able to maintain my tier points, my offers have changed. I wasn't calling to argue about my benefits or ask for something I was entitled to. I simply called to ask if a one-time exception could be made. I explained that I was about to have surgery and just wanted one night away beforehand. I hoped I could have a Friday night room to relax, clear my mind, and have one peaceful evening before facing another difficult chapter in my journey. Instead, I was told no. That conversation broke my heart. What hurt wasn't just being denied a room. It was realizing that years of loyalty seemed to mean very little when I needed a small act of kindness. It made me feel that everything I had invested over the years only mattered as long as I was spending money and earning points. To me, that one night would have meant so much. It would have been a chance to escape the stress, fear, and uncertainty that come with being ill and surgery, even if only for a few hours. To Barona, it was just one room for one night. To me, it would have been a gift of compassion that I would never have forgotten. Instead, this experience left me feeling that, despite Barona's message of making guests feel at home, it's really all about the money. The moment my illness prevented me from maintaining my status, the compassion I believed existed seemed to disappear. I understand that businesses have policies, but there are moments when kindness should matter more than policy. A one-time exception for a loyal guest facing a serious surgery wouldn't have been about giving away a room. It would have been about showing humanity. I'm not writing this letter because I expect anything anymore. I'm writing because I wanted you to know how deeply this experience affected me. I have supported Barona for many years, and I truly believed that loyalty meant something. Sadly, this experience has changed the way I see a place that once felt like home. I hope that in the future, Barona remembers that behind every rewards account is a real person. Sometimes people aren't absent because they've lost interest--they're absent because they're fighting for their lives. Those are the moments when compassion speaks louder than any policy ever could.

That said, the owner, Andy, was so gracious and welcoming that we genuinely want to see him succeed; it feels only right to spread the word. The experience was fantastic from start to finish. We left with two bottles of wine--despite usually preferring reds, we couldn't pass up both the Albarino and the Sangiovese. One tip: double-check your route on Google Maps before heading over. Just a heads-up--it's not the dirt road!

There's a small, but comfortable area inside by a stone fireplace, as well as a nice deck in front offering the wonderful views of the vineyards and surrounding hills. They even have a cave, however it's not open to the public (at least as of our last visit). WINES: Andy (owner/winemaker) poured for us and provides good service and nice insight on his wines and vineyard. One tasting fee is waived with one bottle purchase, as Andy's motto is "We want to sell wines, not tastings". Chuparosa offers mostly Italian, French, and some Spanish varietals (Albariño, Grenache Gris, Mourvèdre/Grenache Rosè, Sangiovese, Cab Franc, and Zinfandel) and in my opinion they're all well-made, elegant wines, some of the best in the region. Chuparosa is a "must visit" winery when in the Ramona wine country.

When we came on a Sat around 3 there were a few groups there but not too busy. I got a glass of red and my partner got the wine slushie. The lady helping us let me try a couple options before I got a glass. Prices were fair. $15 for my glass and $13 for the wine slushie. The only negative was that later that night I got a huge headache. Which doesn't usually happen when I drink wine. So not sure if something about how they make their wine impacted it.

Tristan poured for us and was a very gracious host and extremely knowledgeable about their wines. They have a nice selection of whites, reds, dessert wines, Sangria, and refreshing slushies. Their fruit is sourced primarily from California, and they make a little bit of everything. IMO, the white wines tend to be a little lighter bodied, crisp, with little time on oak. The reds were a little lighter bodied than what we usually prefer, but well made. The two "dessert" wines were outstanding. Wine tasting is very subjective, so you should definitely give it a try for yourself. They don't have food, however there are several local food vendors that will either deliver or you can pick up and eat there. The inside tasting room is not huge, but they have a large outdoor patio with wonderful views of Old Poway Park and the sunset. They're open later than most wineries, so that's a perk as well. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the area.

Before lunch, the owner, Frank, welcomed our group into the wine cellar for an impromptu tasting and shared the story of how the winery came to be. It added such a personal touch and made the experience feel far more memorable than a typical restaurant visit. The setting is absolutely stunning. Perched high above the valley, the property offers sweeping views of rolling hills, vineyards, and distant mountains that seem to stretch on forever. The vine-covered terrace provides just enough shade to linger over a glass of wine while taking in the scenery. On a clear day, it feels like you've stumbled onto a little slice of Tuscany hidden in San Diego County. The food was equally enjoyable. We shared a variety of thin-crust pizzas, burrata salad, and charcuterie boards, all of which disappeared quickly. And then came the cannoli, the perfect sweet ending to an already wonderful meal. Between the breathtaking views, warm hospitality, excellent service, delicious food, and outstanding wine, this was an experience rather than just a lunch. I left already looking forward to coming back for wine and dinner.

Ordering is done at the bar, but they bring the food right to your table, making it easy to relax and enjoy the scenery. Both were excellent and paired perfectly with the beautiful setting. Between the wine, food, views, and dog-friendly atmosphere, we'll definitely be back.
