Had the pleasure of attending a bridal shower lunch here and it was one of those afternoons that reminded me why people fall in love with Southern California wine country. Before lunch, the owner, Frank, welcomed our group into the wine cellar for an impromptu tasting and shared the story of how the winery came to be. It added such a personal touch and made the experience feel far more memorable than a typical restaurant visit. The setting is absolutely stunning. Perched high above the valley, the property offers sweeping views of rolling hills, vineyards, and distant mountains that seem to stretch on forever. The vine-covered terrace provides just enough shade to linger over a glass of wine while taking in the scenery. On a clear day, it feels like you've stumbled onto a little slice of Tuscany hidden in San Diego County. The food was equally enjoyable. We shared a variety of thin-crust pizzas, burrata salad, and charcuterie boards, all of which disappeared quickly. And then came the cannoli, the perfect sweet ending to an already wonderful meal. Between the breathtaking views, warm hospitality, excellent service, delicious food, and outstanding wine, this was an experience rather than just a lunch. Cordiano Winery is such a great spot if you're looking for good wine and an amazing view. The patio is dog friendly, which is always a huge plus for us. Ordering is done at the bar, but they bring the food right to your table, making it easy to relax and enjoy the scenery. The fries were surprisingly delicious and the portion was much larger than expected. For wine, I had the Sauvignon Blanc and my husband tried the white flight. The host will seat you and then you can order food and wine up at the counter (don't forget your table number) and they'll bring it over to you. There is live music and overall it's a fun atmosphere to enjoy a date night or come in a group. They have several levels of seating and plenty of spaces to walk around. After a long (and very warm!) day at the Wild Animal Park, we made our way to Cordiano Winery for dinner--and it ended up being the perfect way to unwind. We arrived just in time for sunset, and wow... the view alone is worth the visit. Sitting on the patio overlooking the rolling hills of Escondido as the sun went down was absolutely breathtaking and made the whole experience feel so special. The food definitely held its own too. We ordered the spaghetti, and it was simple, fresh, and really delicious--exactly what you want after a long day out. Paired with their wine, it made for such a comforting and satisfying meal. Speaking of wine... we loved it so much that we ended up bringing home three bottles of red! No regrets there. Another big plus: parking was super easy with plenty of space, which is always appreciated after a busy day. Really love this winery gem tucked into Escondido hills! We made a reservation here for Mother's day and it was the best place we could've picked. I will say the windy drive is a bit tough for those of us with car sickness. However once you arrive, you are golden! The views are incredible, the homemade pizza is delish (a bit cheese heavy), and the wines are fabulous. Service was quick and awesome despite it being super busy. I will say all ages are allowed here which is unusual for a winery - maybe just a Mother's day thing? - so not exactly a peaceful serene environment. Attended a calligraphy class hosted at the winery, which was my first time here. Arrived early to check the place out. Plenty of parking. Beautiful landscape. I walked up the path and the views from each deck level was of the Escondido valley, which was beautiful. One terrace was covered with real growing grapes, downfall the bees. After the class I placed a togo order: Lasagna, margarita pizza and caprese salad. Servers were nice and very friendly. Meals were amazing and authentic..so good! I gave Four stars because the staff was unaware of a class being held there and its location. And the bees swarming empty soda cans around was nerve racking. I will be back for dinner with my hubby. Recently, friends invited us to celebrate a birthday. I had been here before for another birthday several years back, so I knew what a lovely spot it was. I was excited to share it with someone who had never been. It was a beautiful warm day. The parking lot was almost full so clearly we weren't the only ones enjoying the day. It wasn't too crowded though. We sat on the upper deck in the shade and enjoyed the views. You could see the marine layer floating in the distance beyond the mountains. After looking through the wine and food menus, we went to the bar to order. There was quite a line. When we got up to the counter we were greeted warmly by a very knowledgeable and friendly young man who walked us through the wine menu. We tasted a few and decided on a red. I can't remember which one, but he said it was the owner's favorite. We liked it too. He also told us about the wine club which sounds like a great deal and includes a meal for its members. Next, we were about to order food that we had previously decided on, but we noticed the specials and decided to pivot to the pasta Vesuvius. We returned to our seats and continued to admire the view. The sun was beginning to set. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We split it, and very much enjoyed our dish as did our friends (carbonara). We returned to the counter and ordered 2 cannolis (they were unfortunately out of the tiramisu) to surprise the birthday girl with one of them. They were very good too. We left our table for a bit and they thought we left so understandably they cleaned it up, server was too sweet and comped our breadsticks cause of it, we even told him its all good there was only 1 left lol. I can't believe it's almost been 10 years since my husband and I got married here at Cordiano Winery! We were thinking about what we would like to do to celebrate our milestone and decided we would love nothing more than to go back and have a beautiful gathering with our friends and loved ones...while this is VERY overdue, it's necessary to give this establishment the respect and appreciation they deserve. This all began when we lived in San Diego. We were looking for the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and by chance found this place! We met and coordinated with Kimberly Sisti on every aspect of our beautiful ceremony. We toured the winery and at the time the gathering area above the wine cellar was under construction (it was being enclosed). The view was breathtaking, staff were friendly and inviting, and the food and wine were incredible! Kimberly from the beginning set my mind at ease from offering vegan dishes served up family style, making a multiple tier vegan lemon coconut cake with blueberries, and taking care of every design aspect from vision to reality! I shared my Pinterest board with her with all the dream wedding ideas I could possibly think up, and she found ways to make those come to life. If I was stuck on something, Kimberly was right there emotionally and physically to give me a hug or just walk me through it until I felt better. We decided on one long table for seating, dancing behind us with our live trio, and a photographer we had met through Craigslist. We had access to our own bathrooms (very convenient) and it wasn't a far walk from the parking lot to the event area; my sparkly rhinestone heels silently thanked me that day. I don't think that there was one detail left out and thanks to Kimberly and the entire Cordiano staff, our wedding is something that to this very day, we gets compliments on it being "the most beautiful wedding" ever attended. As always Cordiano did not disappoint. We brought friends visiting from Seattle. Ordered the wine flights, caprese salad, and some different pastas. Their prices are very affordable. I recommend reservations if going at sunset, which I feel is the most beautiful time to go. You don't have table service, you order at the front, get a number, and go back to your seat. You're also responsible for your own water and utensils. All food, except pizza will be served on real plates (pizza on paper) and they do have real silverware. My only recommendation to those who have never been: order your wine and apps first. Then go back and order your meal. They don't space out the meals as you get served once your dish is ready. read more

Love the atmosphere that this winery provides; everyones attentive and on a nice sunny day, we were able to get a nice table seat to bask in the sun. They even gave us a dog bowl for my lil puppers! Such a cute winery. As we pulled up it reminded me of my time in Italy in wine country. I ordered the flight and a couple dishes for lunch. The flight was $25, I didn't find a wine I liked particularly unfortunately. I got to change a couple of the options to my liking. Food on the other had was so good and comforting. The tomatoes were so fresh and the serving sizes was great. The carbonara was so yummy not too oily and the pieces meat was perfect. Parking available in a dirt lot. Service was good. This winery is beautiful! My sis-in-law and I attended a yoga & wine event. The room we were in overlooked the winery, with white, gauzy curtains blowing in the breeze. The yoga was just strenuous enough, and made us appreciate the relaxing wine and lunch all the more! The servers were very generous with their pour and the red blend, GST (?) was perfect- full bodied, delish! We had a salad that was ok, and the Calabrese which was better. Next time, we're getting the fried ravioli, but we were trying to "be good" ha. We sat on a patio overlooking rolling hills and blue skies. Stayed fours hours after the class just enjoying the day and ambiance. Coming back with my entire book club, very soon. Hope they have their t-shirts by then. Overall, a fantastic experience from the nice, fun drive up the hill to the beautiful grounds and view to the very good service, food, and beverages. They have a wide range of wines made from local grapes as well as some from other regions. I'm not a wine expert as they pretty much all taste good to me! My only wine criticism is the $25 price for a sampler totalling only 8 oz of wine. I think they'd generate more bottle sales by reducing that price and/or adding more samples. The food, which you order at the beverage counter for delivery to your numbered table, was very good: Meatball appetizer: three big balls in tomato sauce with a delicious whipped ricotta and lightly toasted crostini bread. Minor criticisms are that the meatballs, which are clearly a blend of beef and pork, have too much of a pork flavor and are a bit too dense for me. Also, I don't know which brand of canned tomatoes they use, but the sauce doesn't have a great, rich tomato + spices flavor. They should be using one of the Stanislaus brands like Alta Cucina, 7/11 Ground, or Tomato Magic. Calamari: a medium-sized plate of large and reasonably tender rings with a few tentacles. Minor criticisms are that they could have been left in the fryer a bit longer and served with tartar sauce in addition to the marinara. Pizza: very good crust with a golden bottom and cornicione with tasty toppings. They claim it's New York style, but IMO it's really not. New York style has a thinner, more chewy crust while this is lighter and more bread-like, but not too thick. I don't know how long they ferment the dough, but it could use more flavor. While the topping were very tasty and generous on the Stagioni version, they were a bit too sparse on the Meat version. On both, the tomato sauce was barely noticeable. They need to add a little more and use one of the brands mentioned above to take their pizza up a level. read more

If you are going to visit multiple wine spots off of highland valley rd, I would recommend making a reservation at Cordianos around sunset because they have by far the best view. Cordiano Winery located in the Rancho Bernardo Hills offers a lovely setting to enjoy mountainous views and great wine and food. As this was my first time at Cordiano I have heard so many good things about the ambiance, food and location. With a quick drive through a curvy mountain you arrive at a mountainous vineyard through a large uphill parking lot. The estate features multiple buildings from the owners property, a large banquet hall, wonderful outdoor seating, and kitchen area. Seating is all outdoor with multiple levels to take in the views. The staff is friendly and quick to bring out food and wine. On a hot day our party went with the sangria which offered a nice cool beverage to enjoy the sunset views. For bites we ordered pasta, pizza, calamari, breadsticks and caesar salad. All tasted amazing and service was fast. My first experience at Cordiano was excellent and I am excited to go back. You check in with the host and they'll seat you and then you get it line to order food and wine. The bottle is the best bang for the buck. We had pizza and a salad. The drive up there is also really pretty with all the plantations down at the bottom and then you get a nice view of the vineyard from the top as well. We also got the specials menu salad with lettuce, jicama, fresh tomatoes, shredded mozzarella, grilled chicken, tortilla strips and barbecue ranch dressing on the side. Decent amount of chicken here as well and tasted the nice with that barbecue dressing. Big downside here is that the salad felt a little low quality because they used iceberg lettuce and not romaine. So overall it just seemed like a little bit of a sad salad which had a lot of potential. I would have given this place five stars but another big issue here was the bees! There was like a swarm of 4 or 5 bees that were just constantly at our table coming onto the food. Especially coming onto the chicken! We had to run for to-go boxes and box up our food and move it to a different table and secretly eat it out of the boxes so the bees wouldn't come at it. read more
