Thank you, Yelp! and Portillo's for a great opportunity. I love my experience at Portillo's! It is actually really close to my parents house so it was a easy drive. Burgers were actually really really good. My sister had the cake the Dr Pepper cake shake and she enjoyed it, but I think I preferred the regular shake that was wonderful. I love a place that has really good service. Our server at the counter was super nice and helped me decide what was best to get. And the venue is just super clean and nice.
Less than a mile from Katy Asia town off i10 is PORTILLO'S KATY! it seems kinda lonely where it stands, but I'm sure in a year or so it'll be surrounded by more housing and commercial big box stores, but for right now, it's not hard to miss. The restaurant is fairly large, and clean, and you can order on the kiosk or in person at the counter. It's certainly a place that gives off good vibes and Chicago energy. I have tried the juicy burgers, and the spicy chicken salad before, so this go-around I wanted to try a Chi-town hot dog 'all the way.' It was delicious and just what I needed on a hungry afternoon. The toppings added a touch of sweet, and savory atop the perfectly salty and beefy hot dog. The bun wasn't stale and that's a big no-no for me. The DR. Pepper shake was the 'cake' version and to me, it didn't have a strong Dr. Pepper flavor, but was a sweet treat nonetheless.
We arrived after work, and parking was very accessible! This was our second time at Portillo's. We both got a chicken sandwich, fries, one fountain drink, and the Dr Pepper Cake Shake. Our order had been ready for at least 10 min but we weren't aware until we went up to the counter and the bag that was noticed sitting there was ours. There's no announcement when your order was ready when we went. The chicken sandwich was okay. We liked the fries! They were nice and crispy. The Dr. Pepper Shake was very interesting - too sweet for us! It was worth a try! Based off of the reviews, we may have to try something new next time.
A salad at a Portillo's? Definitely! Thank you to Portillo's and Yelp Houston for this plus 1 Elite week. Perfect for a lunch date on a Thursday afternoon. My plus 1 had the Big Beef Sandwich with sweet and hot peppers. Not dipped but with a side of gravy. Added a large side of fries and a Diet Coke. He loved it. Since I usually eat chicken, I had the Chopped Chicken salad without bacon. Romaine and iceberg lettuce, ditalini pasta, chopped chicken, tomatoes, Gorgonzola cheese, greens onions and purple cabbage with a side of house dressing and Caesar dressing. So good. Love how they package the dressing in the top of the to go bowl. I coupled that with the Dr. Pepper cake shake. An entire slice of chocolate cake blended into a milkshake. Quite unique. Mine was thick, creamy and super sweet!! Thank you to Portillo's for bringing a taste of Chicago to Katy, Texas. Thanks as always to the Team at Yelp Houston and Houston's CM Jandito for another fantastic Elite week. Who knew that this one would come with a cake shake?
Big thanks to Portillo's and the amazing Yelp Houston team for putting together this elite week! Portillo's looks like a new development, being away from the main Asia town area. Large parking lot, drive thru, both outdoor and indoor seating. When you enter, you can order from the kiosk or at the register. We walked up to the register and easily claimed our free entree and drink. I ordered the cowboy burger and was greeted with a "yeehaw!" I ordered the Dr. Pepper shake just to try it. (FYI: never tried Dr. Pepper before. Not a soda person generally.) My bf ordered the Italian beef sandwich and a soft drink. Service was fairly quick. They call out your number and you pick up your food. Soft drinks are self serve. The indoor dining area was so spacious. Not many people were dining in when we went. Cowboy burger was what you'd expect - bacon, onion ring, beef patty. Can't choose how you want your burger cooked. Italian beef sandwich was ok. I don't do well with spicy so I didn't eat much with the peppers. Again, nothing special, but it's what you'd expect. The Dr. Pepper Shake I wouldn't get again just bc I don't like Dr. Pepper. Thought it was a good chance to try it though. Overall, 5 stars for the experience. Grateful for elite weeks like this. Thanks again, Portillo's and Yelp!!
Enjoyed my hot dog and shake at Portillo's! Thank you to Yelp and Portillo's for the opportunity to have a free meal with my family :) I love the Chicago style hot dog - that's what I get each time I come here. Love that signature "pop" when I bite into the dog and the tomato and pickle to make it more filling. It's also economical at only 3.99. The inside is nicely decorated and food came out pretty fast. I also got to try the Dr Pepper shake, which wasn't bad. The cake shake was an interesting concept but a pass for me. Didn't seem appealing. Thanks again to Yelp and Portillo's for this elite week experience!
I went today to redeem my offer at Portillo's. The lady at counter was very helpful and advised us of our redemption deal. She asked us also to mark our names on the notebook that she had. We ordered the Italian beef sandwich and the rodeo burger. Both items were pretty good. Their French fries are very good also. The food was ready in 5 mins or less. There were plenty of seating available inside and outside. Ambiance n decor was cool. Pretty pics n posters. Some good music was also playing. Thanks to Jando, Yelp Houston and Portillo's for arranging this event.
I've been to this location before but it was so awesome to get a nice meal yesterday. They were kind and attentive and actually understood the offerings. I must say come sometimes the staff are confused about what Yelp is and what they're supposed to give us. Lol. Anyway, I digress. I ordered the double meat cheeseburger and I ordered some fries and the Dr. pepper cake shake. The burger was actually really delicious. It had a lot of cheese that I didn't really want but overall The taste was great. It was extremely juicy and oily and I'm going to have to pay for it with a workout but totally worth it. Solid 9 out of 10. The fries were okay. They weren't salty and they weren't unflavorful, it's just that they're really potato-ey and I really hate potato-ey fries. Even though I asked for them to be very well done. So they were like a 4 out of 10. Now, the cake shake started out okay with the first sip but I noticed that it had chocolate and it really turned me off and made my stomach turn. I wish they would have told me that it had chocolate. When I asked for her opinion she just said that he was regular cake in there and the Dr pepper shake. I was going to sacrifice my lactose intolerance for the shake but totally not worth it at all because I hate chocolate. So, the Dr. Pepper taste gets an 8 out of 10 (even though I haven't had soda since like the second grade) but the overall shake gets a 1 out of 10. I almost forgot... I ended up getting a Chicago hot dog and a strawberry refresco. I haven't had a hot dog in years so I just wanted to see if I was missing anything. I wasn't. It was not good at all. The only thing I liked was the pepper inside but that's about it. The flavors just didn't go well together and every piece and component of the hot dog was Big And chunky and clunky so it wasn't a good eat. 2 out of 10. The refresco was nice and cool and refreshing. Not too sweet but definitely had a nice little flavor. I definitely will give it a good 6.5 out of 10. Overall this is definitely a restaurant and location I would visit again. It's pretty quick, and the inside is clean. So grateful for Jandoooo and the Houston team! Thank you so much.
Big fan of Portillo's and happy to see them running this offer back to back years for Yelp Elites! My go to has always been the Italian beef w/ sweet peppers + sausage.. (forgot to order a side this time but I would've chosen Onion rings over fries here any day of the week) Tried the Dr. Pepper cake shake for the first time. I'm usually a chocolate shake guy and love the creativity here.. but boy this thing was way too sweet for me. That said, I could still see myself grabbing it once in a while as a guilty treat (without the Dr. Pepper next time) Service was excellent. Came on a weekday for dinner and it wasn't busy. Cashier was super friendly and the whole check-in/ordering process was smooth. Inside is spacious with plenty of that classic Portillo's decor.. Thanks to Portillo's and the Yelp staff for this one!
Compared to a previous Portillo's event, this was so much better! Why? The last event said we were allowed to get any entree, but upon ordering we were told we were only able to redeem the Italian Beef. It was still delicious and I'm not complaining because free food is free food. (: However, this event we were literally able to get ANY entree PLUS a Dr. Pepper Shake (or a fountain drink). I was also thrilled to know that we are allowed a plus 1. It was perfect because my husband and I came here for a date night with our two little boys and only had to order food for them. #underbudget lol The cashier who took our order was sweet, patient, and professional. My husband and I both ordered the Charbroiled Chicken Sandwich and Dr. Pepper Shakes. For our boys, we ordered the Beef N' Cheddar Croissant and Italian Beef & Sausage Sandwich. We also got a large fry to share. Dr. Pepper Shake - One sip was enough. It was like a shot of sugar! It was way too sweet for both my husband and I that we didn't even finish one. We actually gave the other shake to another table to try. Charbroiled Chicken Sandwich - It was pretty good! However, for the price point, we both agreed that the portion is really small. After eating the sandwich, I was still hungry. They are also mayo heavy; my bun kept sliding around as I was eating and I had to use soooo many napkins! Beef N' Cheddar Croissant - It was loaded with beef! It looked amazing. Although it looked like a beast, my 6 year old devoured the entire sandwich! Italian Beef & Sausage - It is the best of both worlds if you can't decide between a sausage or the Italian beef. It was loaded and stuffed. It's definitely a meaty and "manly" sandwich. Although the pictures and sandwiches don't look pretty, the taste is great! All in all, we like Portillo's and would definitely come back! I was really excited when I saw this event posted. Being as it's down the street from my office, it's very convenient to come during my lunch break. Portillo's has great customer service! When they ask, "how's your day going" you can really tell they care. The cashier was very friendly and had a quick conversation with me. He took the time to explain what was available with the Yelp event. This offer was for any entrée and a Dr Pepper shake. With the shake you had the option of a regular shake or a cake shake version of it. I decided to try the Rodeo Burger and the regular Dr. Pepper shake. The burger looked very good but the taste didn't match. It wasn't bad but there wasn't anything special about it. The meat didn't have any seasoning to it and the cheese was placed on it after it was cooked. Meaning it was a cold slice of cheese on a warm burger. Now the onion rings placed inside the burger were cooked perfectly. The bacon was precooked and cold. I also believe this burger was suppose to have bbq sauce on it but it didn't. Overall it looked nice but lacked flavor. The shake was interesting. The first few sips tasted very good and I was enjoying it. However, when I reached the lower middle of the shake it started to taste very syruply. I'm thinking it wasn't fully mixed correctly when it was being made. I would give it another try.
I'm so excited to see Portillo's come to H-town! Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The Katy location is quite spacious with regard to both parking and the interior dining space, which felt like an upscaled diner. I got the Dr. Pepper shake - a new item according to my Chicago native friends. The chocolate cake shake is the original but I found the Dr. Pepper shake to be a delicious and sweet treat perfect for the heat regardless. The cheeseburger was juicy and came with onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. Very filling! Both dine in and take out options are available and very quick. Staff are in sync with one another and the experience was fast and friendly.
I had never been to Portillo's before, but I have been curious about this Chicago institution. They specialize in some Chicago classics, with their focus on Italian beef sandwiches! On this visit, we were offered an entree and the Dr Pepper shake. I went with the big Italian beef with sweet and hot peppers. I forgot to add cheese, but since the original form doesn't come with cheese, I guess it's okay to do without it. I thought it was interesting the ways you could enjoy the au jus. I decided to get mine on the side so I could control the amount and prevent super soggy bread. It ended up working well. The sandwich itself was pretty darn good. The thin slices of roast beef were nice and tender. The au jus was nice and beefy with a thin layer of fat. I can see why this is popular. On my dime, I just had to order the Chicago Dog. I had never had one of these, so this was the perfect opportunity! Wow! I ended up liking this more than I thought I would. I just wish the wiener was a bit bigger, as its flavor was overpowered by the veggies and peppers. The Dr Pepper shake was all right. Tasty enough, though I prefer a thicker shake with a lil more Dr Pepper flavor. Love the lovely spacious interior with the vintage decor! You can definitely use the space for large functions! Thanks to the Yelp team and Portillo's for the opportunity!

The restaurant is spacious and clean, and the employees were all very friendly. The food is unfortunately on the saltier side. I think if they fixed this, it'd be even better. With the recession going on, price is on the higher end. Thanks to Yelp for giving me the opportunity to try Portillo's. read more

Check in was short & simple. Check in w/ Yelp QR code & confirm your name. Select any entree and drink! I selected the rodeo burger. I love that once the cashier made the order announcement, the team as a whole yelled out "YEEEHAW" I like the onion rings that come on my burger, its nice crispy texture. I really love that Portillo's were able to cut my burger in half as well per my request. I selected the Dr Pepper "cake" float that has a slice of chocolate cake blended inside. So thick and sweet. It was better than bluebell Dr Pepper float ice cream. Thank you Yelp community & Portillo's for a fantastic elite week and welcoming me with my plus one. I have been WONDERING about this place! I know it's super popular in Chicago, I have a sorority sister from there and she RAVES about it dry when it first came here she was over the moon. Anyhoo.... I love the decor. Very old school gas station type vibes minus the grime lol. I got the Italian beef and a side of onion rings. Fun fact, I've never had that sandwich before so I was genuinely interested to see what the hype was about... 8/10 for the Italian beef with sweet peppers 8.5/10 on the onion rings- they are now in my fast food onion ring ranking: 1- whataburger (undefeated) 2- Freddy's 3- Portillo's The Italian beef was better than I thought and different than expected. As a southern girl- I thought it would be like a cheesecake, but the flavor was more like smothered steak and gravy... and I'm NOT complaining. Gravy is always an acceptable answer. I am so glad they brought Portillo's to Houston!! Thank you Yelp for another great event. We got to Portillo and they have plenty of parking. They have kiosk you can order at or the cashier! I got a spicy chicken sandwich and it is pretty spicy, but good! Portion sizes are great. Service was quick and nice! The restaurant is big & clean! It can definitely get crowded around lunch or dinner time, but plenty of seating! Check them out! read more
This is my first time here. As a pescatarian, I never really considered trying Portillo's until now. So a huge thank you to Jando, Yelp Houston, and Portillo's for organizing this lovely event and introducing me and my + one to a new spot that I can eat at. I was so happy to see the Garden Dog on the menu. I ordered that and the Dr. Pepper shake. The Garden Dog came with everything on it: ketchup, mustard, chopped onions, relish, peppers (it was spicy!), and a pickle. I really enjoyed it and will certainly come back again for it. However, the Dr. Pepper shake was way too sweet for me. If you have a sweet tooth or 10, you will love the Dr. Pepper shake. Check-in was smooth and simple. Staff were pretty friendly. The place is SPACIOUS with lots of tables. It's very clean and organized. The condiment, utensils, and drink area was well maintained. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back for their Garden Dog. read more
The Yelp Elite Week at Portillo's in Katy was worth the 35 min commute! The manager, Juliana was very sweet and greeted my friend and I right away. She kindly explained our options for the different entrees and let us know that we had the option to choose between a regular or large size Dr. Pepper (cake if you wanted that one ) milkshake in addition. I appreciate Juliana for asking for my number in order to receive points from my purchases. The seating area was clean and spacious and the food came out nice and fresh. This was a great opportunity and I'm excited to tell my friends to try out the new milkshake and pay the Katy location a visit! read more
So good! The burgers are very juicy and cook perfectly to my liking. Its a but messy, but worth it. Just be aware juice will fall out if your burger with each bite. Eat over the table lol. The place is nicely decorated and lots to see when looking around. They have merch section as well where you can buy hats and keychains and other accessories. They also are promoting free fries when u sign up for portillo perks. (Note) u still have to pay a 5 dollar purchase to get the fries. So not completely free. The Dr Pepper shake... ok, so o dont like doctor pepper so u wasn't sure how i would feel about it but i decided to go for it and get the Dr Pepper cake shake.. it was surprisingly really good. I'm no stranger to Portillo's. I've been to the original in Chicago, and I have family from the Chicago area, so, we always take them when they're in town. This location is a little far for me, but it was worth the trek It feels like you're eating in the cleanest gas station or mechanic shop with all the historic oil & gas decor. I really like how they incorporate Katy, TX in the decor. It feels like a lot of thought went in to everything The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everyone was efficiently working, but they were too busy to assist or offer a smile or kind words The menu offers Chicago dogs, Italian beef, burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, etc etc etc. I've had most of their offerings, but I'd never tried their spicy chicken sandwich. It was delicious. It definitely has a kick of heat, but it's tasty and hearty. I'd also never had a Dr. Pepper milk shake. I don't drink sodas, and I try more and more to be healthy... I will say, I didn't feel any guilt indulging in this. The shake worked so well together, both flavors and cooling one off on a hot Texas day I ordered some crinkle fries on the side, and I was asked if I wanted to try their cheese sauce on the side. I didn't even realize they had cheese sauce, so, of course I tried it. It was a great recommendation. The cheese sauce wasn't too runny, and it was flavorful. I had plenty leftover and made me think I should have ordered more fries to dip Other things I liked: the drive thru has a covered section when ordering. This is great for wild Texas weather. I didn't try it, but would. Then again, eating inside is a vibe in itself. I also like that there are kiosks you can order from when you enter. Stopped by Portillo's in Katy for Elite Week, and of course we had to see what the hype was about! We went with the burgers, fries, and Dr Pepper floats. Baby, that burger was GOOD! It had that delicious flame-broiled flavor that I love, and the fries were cooked perfectly. Hot, crispy, and exactly how fries are supposed to be! Now...the Dr Pepper float? It didn't quite do it for me. It was way too thick, even after we asked for it to be made a little looser, and it was also much sweeter than I expected. I love a sweet treat, but this one was a little too sweet for me. But the burger and fries definitely saved the day! I'll absolutely be back because there are several other things on the menu I want to try. Burger: Fries: Dr Pepper Float: Not for me! It was great to revisit Portillo's after the opening and Elite Week last year and try some different offerings! I went with another Yelper (s/o Paul P.) and we checked in and ordered easily at the counter. I got the spicy chicken sandwich, the Dr. Pepper cake shake, and ordered large Onion Rings on the side to share. The spicy chicken sandwich was nice and crispy, while a little small. The Dr. Pepper cake shake was a surprise - you definitely get the cake texture but it's still drinkable through a straw!! Very cool. Downside is that it's way too sweet for me. I could drink like 1/3 of it without getting a sugar crash, at best.. I ended up sharing it with others at home. The onion rings were nice and crispy too. I had an amazing experience this Elite Week! I came in starving, so it was perfect that the restaurant was pretty empty and they took only about 50 seconds to get my order ready. I got the Italian beef sandwich with peppers on the side. Normally that would be an extra charge, but it was free for Elite Week. The food came out hot and fresh, and it paired perfectly with my fountain drink! The highlight of the visit was the person who took my order, Mr. Fine. He was the nicest and coolest person ever. Yes, his name tag literally said "Mr. Fine" and he had gold teeth. He walked around checking on customers and even offered to throw away my trash for me. read more

Thanks Yelp!! Portillo's always hits coming from Chicago it's a staple! I have never had their cheeseburger before so that was really excited to try it. I know they're known for their Italian sausage, but I was feeling a cheeseburger today. It was greasier than normal but tasted great, I would like more veggies bc I like the crunch! Lol We tried the Dr Pepper cake shake- I was not a fan to be honest. It was really sweet and tasted a bit weird to me. Their crinkly fries were too salty for me if im honest. They had supper bathrooms, and free parking in the front with a drive-through. read more
This was such a cool place! Something for everyone. Very kid-friendly There are cool paintings, pictures, old time pieces all throughout the restaurant. Could literally spend hours just looking and talking. We ordered burgers, fries, a salad, and a milkshake! Everything was delicious. The staff was very friendly! read more
My order: Chicago Hot Dog Fries Dr. Pepper Shake The hotdog was flavorful and I love the authentic green relish. The fries without salt are so good and now one of my favorite fries. They were fresh and not oily. I am not a Dr Pepper fan but the shake was cool, creamy and well blended. Visited on a Tuesday, and the restaurant wasn't very busy. They were having a few hiccups with their system, but the staff was still able to help take my order, and everything came out fine. The Dr Pepper Cake Shake was good, but I could definitely see it being a little too sweet for some people. The Italian Beef Sandwich was super loaded and very filling. I was honestly surprised by how it kept me full until lunch the next day! Overall, I had a great experience. OMG, Juliana was the sweetest. She had the best welcoming attitude I've encountered in a long time. The ordering process was quick and easy. The store was clean and everything looked perfect. Everything was perfect. Bathrooms were presentable. All around great. Let's get to the food, because this was literally the best chicken sandwich I've had in a very long time. Fries too. This sandwich was so good, I've went back twice, since making this post to get another sandwich and fries. I got the Dr. Pepper shake, and, believe me when I say, Dr. Pepper is my all time favorite drink. But, this was not what I was expecting. It wasn't bad, but it's not something I would order again either. I'll continue to get the regular Dr. Pepper. I'm so glad I found this place! I loved their charbroiled chicken sandwich. It was delicious and felt like a healthier option, too. I also tried a slice of their chocolate cake, and it was really good! I especially appreciated that it was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet like many desserts can be. The staff was very friendly, and it's a nice, welcoming spot for a casual dine-in. I'd definitely love to come back! Thanks, Jando and Portillo's Katy for hosting this wonderful event! read more
In all of my years of being in Houston I had never been to Portillo's, it was a good experience! With plenty of parking, and a nice vibrant interior, my checkin process was a smooth one! I was greeted warmly too. I selected the Rodeo burger for my entree, and added fries to it. I also selected the Dr. Pepper shake. The burger was juicy and delicious, the fries crisp and the shake was thick and yummy! Portillo's is definitely worth a return (there's other things on that menu I've got to try!) I believe that this is what customer service should be about - people just loving their jobs and making customers happy. This was an experience. I had the beef Italian sandwich. The fillings was great but it was paired with soggy bread. And I had the Dr Pepper cake drink. It was extremely dense and you can feel the cake texture with every sip. I actually couldn't finish it despite liking the taste. The staff were sweet and the food was made very quickly. There's plenty of room inside and there was free parking. The decorations are very cute and give a retro diner vibe. read more

This place is great. Especially when Yelp treats you! Such a fun environment with lots of seating options. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Burgers, hot dogs or Italian beef options! Fries and shakes too. Crazy flavors. No way to make a bad combo. You'll definitely leave with a smile on your face. They sell merch too if you become a super fan after your visit! read more
This is the 2nd time they are having the event at Portillo's. This time we had to order the Dr. Pepper shakes (with or without the cake) because they want our feedback on them. At least that's what the cashier told us. We ordered the Italian beef, Italian beef and sausage with au jus sauce on the side, Dr. Pepper shakes, and lemon cake. All were delicious. Another elite week at Portillos! Last year was pretty decent and this year it is the same! Customer service for me was on point! The manager and the other employee made the Yelp check in process easy, asked for my name and then my order. I always love the spaciousness inside. I like that they have a kiosk to submit your own order as well. I ended up ordering the Chicago Dog, fountain drink & buying two sets of fries. They make sure to have salt on them fries I tell you! Chicago dog was good & consistent as im use too. I don't come here as much because weirdly enough I like to eat Chicago dogs actually in Chicago, because that was my first experience with one and it was far better than the Portillos here's in Katy, but that's just my humble opinion. Though I am much appreciative of another successful grab n go Yelp event! read more
