This is my 2nd year visiting the Light Park and it is such a fun experience every time! We tried to go after Christmas to avoid the crowds and around 10pm. The light park is open until 11pm during Christmas week so that definitely helps avoid traffic/crowds. When we got there at 10pm, there was almost no line or wait time. The website said that there was a 15-30 minute wait, but we actually were able to go straight to the front. There were only a few cars infront of us and a few behind us, so we were able to go through the whole drive thru trail within 8-9 minutes. I wish it was a bit longer, but my favorite part is how the lights sync with their radio station (87.5 I believe). The music definitely adds to the experience significantly! Although we got through the trail fairly quickly, I feel like it would be more fun if we went a time where there slightly more crowds so it would take at least a little longer to go through the trail. We drove for almost 50 minutes to get there and finished the whole experience in 1/5 of that time. I would recommend buying the ticket online (per car entry) since it is slightly cheaper than buying it in person. I paid $50 for one car. No line on thanksgiving night The convenience of a drive through light show is amazing not only for the weather but for families that have members who cannot endure long walking. They have a radio station for you to tune to that matches the frequency of the lights. Beautiful animations that I'm sure take a lot of time to create. There are snacks and refreshments available to purchase. Movie theatre prices. A great addition to get in the holiday spirit. Honestly wish the show was a tad longer. read more

Try to go as early as you can (close to 5:30) or on a weeknight. Normally I think it's $60 per car. But I bought a discounted ticket when they were having a sale so it was $33 for 1 car. At $33 I think it's a good deal! They sell these magic glasses, 2 for $5. They just make bright lights (like car headlights and tail lights) into a snowflake shape. It doesn't change anything in the light show itself. So, it's not really worth it in my opinion but our kids liked the glasses. Our kids loved the Light Park! They're 4 and 7. Husband and I enjoyed it too. There's a short wave radio station with music that syncs up to the lights. The kids enjoyed it so much that they wanted to do it again, but at $60 that's a hard pass for going twice. When we got there at around 6:30pm tonight (Sat 11/30) it was about a 15 min wait to get to the tent where you pay or buy add ons like popcorn, lemonade, light wands etc. -- but the actual part where we drive through the lights took us about 18 minutes to drive through. By around 6:45, the line was super long, almost to the entrance. read more

Love the light show! We get a season pass every year. This is our 3rd year. We go starting on day 2 and the last day. Super fans

Overall, decent experience. Wish there was one closer to the inner loop, but they obviously need a large space to host this. They charge per car, not per person and rates are higher for the peak and weekend times. This year, it is located in the Typhoon Texas Waterpark parking lot. Upon arrival, you do several twists and turns until you arrive at a tent where they take your order and pay for tickets if you didn't already pre-pay. They offer popcorn, candy, and water for sale. I found it odd they didn't offer any hot chocolate or any other festive drinks/snacks though. After purchasing and displaying your pre-paid ticket, then you have to wait a few additional minutes until your vehicle is released. There are signs posted along the way up to the entrance with their radio station to turn to - the music and lights go together which was pretty neat. Our wait time to actually get in the event was minimal - probably because it was Sunday and because we went shortly after opening. There were numerous light displays going to the Christmas music and various animations, like singing elves, moving to the music. It was pretty cool to see! From start to finish, we were maybe there for 20-30 minutes total. It would've been nice if the "trail" was longer, but overall a fun and unique experience. read more

As opposed to The Heavy Park, which is much more weighty. We love The Light Park, it's one of the highlights of the Xmas season, not that the Xmas season feels much like Xmas in Houston... feels more like a warm, wet summer anywhere else. Katy has a lot to offer along suburban lines, although it will never have the thrilling metropolis appeal of Houston proper. But they're trying, what with the best location of In N Out, and with every store and fast food outlet you can imagine, with the amazing Katy Asian Town, and now of course with huge malls and movie theatres and water parks and the likes of The Light Park. Basically you drive in, and get to enjoy close-ups of some of the most elaborate and delightful neon light shows you'll see anywhere. It's great for kids but also great for everyone. I've seen two or three of these around the country, and it's probably the best one by a long distance. There was a 30 minute wait, which is sometimes more like 60, but it's worth it. Remember it's seasonal so you'll have to wait until before Xmas and then go as soon as you can or it'll be gone for another 11 months! Thanks for enjoying this Light reading. read more

The lines are crazy long! It took over two hours to get into the light trail. I liked it better when you were able to reserve your time. I think that helped keep the lines flowing and not having to wait so long. Also, they are now selling popcorn, drinks, and souvenirs when they scan your ticket and I think that is also adding time to the wait. Maybe those things should be sold in the lanes before getting tickets scanned since there's about 8-10 car lanes completely stopped waiting to move forward. I would not recommend. read more

This location was a disaster. The lights weren't working when we arrived at 6:30. Many people had already been waiting over an hour. A worker had told us that they were waiting on a technician. There was no transparency about what was going on, why it wasn't working, or how long it was going to take to get through. While in line we had an emergency that we needed to attend to. There was no way out. Workers were incredibly rude and not understanding. The PD on sight was less than helpful. This place was a disaster. Significant changes need to be made in order to accommodate families and emergencies in the case of malfunction so gridlock traffic doesn't occur with no way out. I would call before you arrive to make sure the lights are working so you can avoid the mess we just went through. read more

This was a first time visit to the Light Park in Katy. We went on a Thursday night and had no problem getting started. There was no line and as soon as our pass was scanned we were ready to enjoy. You can tune your car radio to play the music that is synced up with the lights which was neat! There were some nice themes and cool displays but overall I feel like it was fairly standard and nothing to set it apart from other options. read more

I actually loved this place so much! What a great idea! I came on Christmas Day after dinner thinking it wasn't going to be packed but I was so wrong lol Everyone was thinking the same thing! This place is located in the parking lot of Typhoon Texas in Katy. When you first come in, there's a bunch of lanes to queue in and the staff do a really good job at keeping things organized. They let in each row to the next station after about 15-20 minutes. You do have to wait in 2 "lines" but they go by really fast. I waited about 45 minutes in total to be able to enter the Light Park show. Once you are in line to enter the actual lights portion, the staff instruct you to change your radio station and the lights actually change according to the music! I thought this was a really cool idea. The lights were pretty cool too. We brought our dog since you're just in the car and she loved it too! I'm not sure when the last day to go is but I highly recommend going if you can or set it on your bucket list for Christmas this year! read more
