This amazing and incredibly detailed bronzed sculpture of the story book tea party was created by a local artist, Bridgette Mongeon, and was installed in the park back in April 2019. This structure has a 10 foot table with benches that invite you to sit for a tea party and take photos with Mad Hatter, Alice, Cheshire Cat and the white rabbit. This sculpture has so much detail from the Lewis Carroll's classic tale that you will find yourself wanting to stay as long as you can to see it. For some examples of the details, there is a bottle that says "drink me" kept in Alice's pocket. You will find a mouse in one of Mad Hatter's pockets. There are two buttons on the back of the white rabbit's jacket that has both tweedle dee and tweedle dum on them. There is also 150 hidden items that this talented local artist decided to put within this sculpture (60 of the 150 items are found under the table). I found a lot of interesting hidden items under the table, which includes the white rabbit's house and Humpty Dumpty. If only I lived nearby, I would come back here. On the day that I came here, it had rained earlier and started to rain again. But I still took photos and sat on a wet bench (which left my pants wet, lol) and wished I had stayed longer to find more of the hidden items. I would definitely come back to this sculpture the next time I am visiting the Houston area.

It is one of those places that can easily be a one and done. There is discounted weekday price starting at $19 for kids 3-12. Something tells me the $19 is if you buy it in advance. Meaning, not the day of. I paid $25 for the kids and $29 for myself online. The photo opps are what you make of it. Like for instance I've been to places where you press a button and the confetti drops down. For this, you have to actually throw the confetti up yourself. Good luck trying to figure this out with kids if you're looking for a good photo. They were also a bit underwhelmed with it. They loved the music room, the light bright room, and the balloon room. The goodies. It was cute. I'm trying bit to give the whole experience away if you are interested in going. It is best to pay for the ice cream online as it is a bit cheaper but not by much. Those cones were cute and delicious. I purchased the photo package. It really isn't necessary as you get to download the photos from a QR code you use when snapping the pics. There is a small parking lot near to it. If you wait for the group before you to leave then you can get a spot without an issue.

No wonder USA Today named it one of the top 10 Chinatown in United States (in 2014).

This folk art style house, located in the Rice Military neighborhood, is covered in beer cans, bottles, and pull tabs, making it kind of a Houston landmark. The project was started by John Milkovisch, who, along with his wife Mary, saved empty beer cans for 17 years. While it may not have started as an artistic endeavor, it definitely became one. Ripley's Believe It or Not estimated that over 50,000 beer cans were used, though a more detailed count by a restoration team puts it closer to 30,000. Honestly, I don't know how many cans there are--but the sheer scale and creativity of it make the place undeniably unique and interesting. The Beer Can House is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM, and admission is free, which makes it an easy and fun stop. Walking around, you can see how every detail is covered in some form of recycled beer material. It's whimsical, creative, and just so quirky. If you're looking for something different to do in Houston, this is a must-see. It's a great mix of folk art, local culture, and a testament to how even the most ordinary materials can be transformed into something extraordinary. Love it!

But, I retracted my promise during this Sunday Brunch UYE. There was a bundle of joy at this UYE. Originally I thought just about 10 people were attending. Because of my social media posts, this event attracted about 20 people. It was a huge success. I was nice to see familiar faces, such as Zain, Yasser, Maria and Jando. I also met a few new friends. I was going to plan on my next UYE but I had some scheduling conflicts. I just announced my UYE for this Sunday a week ago. Yeah. Can't tell when I can get back to my normal scheduled UYE anymore.

Meeting at 11:30 AM instead of 11:00 AM, was great because it gave me time to plan to be punctual (I'm usually late to the UYEs), but only because I'm in less frequented territory. What a different kind of UYE that's outside the norm of Chinatown Crawls, it leaves room to what is to be desired. Here we are at Makiin Thai, chatting with other fellow Yelpers and then some new faces conjugated around an AYCE (all you can eat) Thai buffet with a limited selections of veg options on the line. An elegant styled restaurant and I'm sure glad that today was "dress day" for myself since I felt at place with everyone else attire. There were three options that I could choose from: tamarind brussel sprouts, purple rice, and stir-fried mixed vegetables. Everything was delicious! I could have ordered from the menu, but I specifically came for the AYCE. Nonetheless, the moment wasn't sour for me. I'd like to visit again to sample the menu items since Thai is one my favorite cuisine. I'm looking forward to the next UYE!

Tiny bathrooms- can't get in and out without touching something. Our waitress was a few weeks in and tried her best. The fountain drinks were absolutely disgusting and needed to be recalibrated. I settled with the only bottled soft drink available to be safe, a root beer with 79 grams of sugar! The Bakers Special pizza was a greasy and sloppy mess and instantly fell apart just by looking at it. It had mondo chunks of meat that didn't pair well with the sauce. My husband recommended this place from his visit a few years ago but it clearly went downhill. It's an old dilapidated mess. Cushion chairs were 20+ years old with sticky stains and butt intentions on them. It was giving biker bar and made me very uncomfortable. I was afraid I'd get sick just being in the environment. The patrons were old, obnoxious perverts. Someone even brought their dog in there (not a service dog). I couldn't overlook it's condition and the food wasn't any better. They had some off nights too, like the time I went in at around 11 pm and a very salty, old waitress (she was a hag) said, "f--- this! I'm not serving anyone!" She started putting chairs on top of tables. That was long ago. Today, the place is dirty and dusty. Little gnats fly around trying to get into your drink. Pizza is either undercooked or too charred. On this occasion, undercooked and just gross. Expensive too. The last few times I've been, it was burnt. Maybe there's something wrong with their oven. Rough crowd too. Their clientele has gotten way worse. Don't think I'll ever go back.
