Dr Kocot has been my primary care physician since 2014. Almost 5 years later, my appreciation for her has only grown. Rarely have I encountered a more caring doctor, who genuinely partners with me in my health. She typically spends 50% of my time with her just talking to me about my health. Her proactive, no nonsense approach makes it so way for me to be completely open with her, and allows me not to have any embarrassment about whatever topic at hand. She doesn't instinctively reach for her prescription pad, instead she researches and gives me alternatives to pills. But, if a pill is what I need, she also doesn't hesitate to recommend one. I prefer doctors that are more functional medicine inclined. Dr Kocot always delivers! I know doctors take notes on their patients. But I don't feel like she needs to consult her notes to remember me. I feel like she always remembers me. And it's the same way with her nurse, Jose. When you go to the doctor and you feel like you're being greeted by old friends, it's a really wonderful feeling. It leaves me feeling appreciated and valued as a patient and not just a medical ID #. If you're looking for a true partner in health, I recommend Dr Kocot in spades. read more

Dr. Elizabeth Kocot is a great primary care physician. I've been seeing her for many years, as I selected her when my previous Palo Alto employer changed medical insurance providers. I really couldn't have picked a better doctor! I still drive down from SF to see her (talk about dedication)! She is experienced, knowledgeable and thorough. She is easy to talk to, with a good bedside manner. Dr. Kocot is incredibly efficient, and you never feel like she's rushing you so that she can see her next patient. For eg, I recently made an appointment when I realized that my allergies had escalated to something more serious (thanks to the hot weather, etc.,). I was immediately taken to the exam room after checking in with the receptionist, and waited 5 minutes before Dr. Kocot entered. She asked me several questions and intently listened to my answers, and later carefully examined my lungs, ears, and throat. She basically confirmed what I had already suspected (*maybe I missed my calling and should be a Doctor), a sinus and ear infection, which I had last Fall. Dr. Kocot prescribed the antibiotics, and answered any followup questions. I was literally in and out of her office in less than 15 minutes. Dr. Kocot also gives great referrals to specialists. First of all let me say that I thought Dr. Kocot was a pretty good doctor, got me in on time and got to the point. Jose her RN is AWESOME, on the point and very helpful. Her office on the other hand is another story. The problem I have is the fact that her office billed me incorrectly 3 times. Not so bad, mistakes happen. Really big problem is that the staff thinks it is funny that you were billed incorrectly and they say only the manager can fix the problems. Oh by the way the manager never calls anyone back and does not ever actually work in the office. So by default there is no actual way to get your problems fixed. I have been calling and leaving messages for over a month and nothing. They have a we will take you for your money and don't care if you come back approach. Save yourself the time and money and find a better doctors office. read more

HORRIBLE!!! The most horrible experience ever! Very unprofessional, misleading, inattentive - never ever go there. The start: This facility is near our house - I can even walk there. Also my husband had good experience both with his physician and with this office. He seemed to be really satisfied with them. So once the time came to choose a physician I was looking forward to have a good experience with them as well. I chose Dr. Elizabeth Kocot. I called the office and scheduled an appointment for a physical exam and provided my insurance information for verification. Visit: I was given forms and asked to provide an insurance card so they can scan it and put in the computer. Doctor seemed to be pleasant. But! She did not know anything about physical exam... Ok... Might be something wrong with computer, me, etc. She asked me about my possible concerns. The next scene: I'm telling her that I'm looking for a primary physician which I intend to make her (obviously). And also tell that I would like to get to a OBGYN/GYN and have recurrent tonsillitis. Actually I was feeling something in my throat at the moment. She looks - tells there's nothing but makes 2 tests: a quick one and sends stuff to laboratory. Tests show nothing... The tests are basically a smear. But she scratched my throat a little. So I went home with a promise from her that she would call me when the results were ready and 2 persons of recommendation: GYN and otolaryngologist. Result: I went home with tests showing I'm perfectly healthy... But! Next day and the next week I was totally sick with high fever. I waited till Tuesday for a call from Dr Kocot which never happened. When I called office they surprised me she went on vacation. Apparently she did not want me as her permanent patient... I went on and called otolaringologyst she advised me to find out that for some reason he does not accept my insurance and charge 800(!!!) dollars per visit. Is he golden or what???? And he is still in the Dignity Health network!!! So I had to find another doctor to go to at least for a receipt to get onobiotics as my sickness was not going away. Do not know why this doctor has good marks? I completely unsatisfied! Office: I had to provide my insurance info like 5 times. First I dictated it through phone before the visit. Then they had my card scanned. And then I called them like 3 or maybe 4 times to dictate it once more. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Kocot for over a year and I like her. I saw her for a problem that was rather subtle. The issue was previously misdiagnosed by a different doctor, and when I saw Dr. Kocot she suspected what it was and referred me to do testing which confirmed her diagnosis. After the issue was properly diagnosed, I was able to make a recovery with proper physical therapy. She is easy to talk to and has a pretty good bedside manner. I also like the new office that she works at (Sequoia Medical Group). They have more up to date computers and technology. I also like the lady that works in the laboratory for blood testing (Anita?). She seems very experienced and was able to quickly take my blood samples and I barely felt anything. read more

Went in for my first visit, to meet my new doctor, with hopes of anwsers and clarity to my situation of having IBS she was very cold, unfriendly, and vague. Instead of asking follow up questions on my concerns and the severeness of it she would just give me a blank stare until I said something else..... she was so dry, and not willing to help clarify any of the questions I had. Do not recommend if you are looking for a compassionate doctor who will care for your needs. Towards the end, she didn't even ask if we needed anything else, and just left and walked out the door. I scheduled an appt with Dr. Elizabeth Kocut today. It was double scheduled by the receptionist and every time I even try to send an email it states the 'message is too large' even without attachments.I have a serious heart condition due to very severe domestic abuse trauma with many heart attacks and if doctors are involved their licenses need to be evaluated. This has been constant and I have been trying to establish a doctor's appt for weeks. read more

What's the point of having a primary care physician if you can't reach them? Hard to reach her office, they never pick up or call back and impossible to get an appointment. I've seen Dr. Kocot for two years now and she has really been fine. She has been caring and has always been willing to listen to my concerns and provide me with explanations for her diagnoses. I've also never had a problem getting in to see Dr. Kocot when I've had some pressing medical concern. Despite my positive experience with Dr. Kocot, I am leaving to try a new doctor because I'm less than thrilled with Sequoia Medical (the practice she works for). It's very busy and it's not ever easy to get in touch with people when I have questions. After taking tests, the standard procedure there is that they will only call you if there's a problem. I don't like the "no news is good news" approach b/c I can't be sure they didn't just forget about me. Another problem I've had there is with billing- it's not done "in house" so when a problem arises I've gotten shuffled around phone trees and being sent to different departments, all of which costs me loads of time. I'm newer to the area and have searched for a local doctor that doesn't come with a huge bureaucracy of a practice, but to no avail. I'm going to another large provider, but at least it puts test results on line so I can check them. If Dr. Kocot were there I would see her, so my leaving her is not as much a reflection on her as it is her practice. read more

Having to choose a doctor blindly is ALWAYS a scary proposition. You just never know what you're going to get. I'm THRILLED that I got Doctor Kocot. As others have mentioned, she's very proactive in her care and is all about prevention in addition to treatment of current issues. She's very thorough and not afraid to consult another physician if she wants to double-check something, rather than the patient having to rely on a second opinion. A heart scare of mine in January really showed me the kind, thoughtful side of Dr. Kocot. She was truly and genuinely concerned for me. I am so happy to have Dr. Kocot on my side. I am thoroughly disappointed and disgusted. I went in for a routine, preventative appointment in March and I was told by my doctor that it was totally covered. I pay $881 per month with a $4800 deductible and my past experience with this office was that they would send my lab work to out of network vendors. I pointed this out and was assured that this time I was covered and not a problem -- well, hundreds of dollars later because the doctor's office did send my lab work to out of network labs... I am stuck with the bills. Furthermore, the doctor sent me for lab work, she received the results and has never called me to let me know there are a couple areas of concern. I had to contact the lab myself and have them send me the results. I went to Dr, Kocot a couple of times and found her to be pleasant and Jose her assistant was great, but I won't be recommending their services. read more

Dr. Kocot is a great doctor. She is very thorough, listens, and is proactive. I never have a problem seeing her, and I'm able to do my lab work outside of Sequoia Medical. I do my labs and specialist work at El Camino Hospital and at Palo Alto Medical Foundation where I have existing providers. She works well as a part of my medical team. But for my primary care provider, she cannot be beat! She is the lead person and is on top of every detail. I did not have a good experience with Dr. Kocot. I was having ear pain a few months back and I was supposed to see my primary doctor but she was not available. Well, I got Dr. Kocot. She seemed very rushed and very annoyed with me and I did not do anything to make her act that way. She told me, "I already told you!" when I asked her a simple question. She also rolled her eyes at me when I mentioned that I was not supposed to take a particular medicine. I was so shocked to be treated this way. Maybe I should have just left, but I did not. Later, another doctor told me that this had happened to another patient. I really dislike writing an unhappy review, but unfortunately I did not have a good experience. So sorry!! read more

Dr. Kocot is an exceptional primary care physician. She listens intently to the patient, something that has become rare in modern medicine. She knows how to diagnose and treat many illnesses. When I presented with multiple complaints affecting many areas of my body and brain, she didn't balk, she didn't blow me off and tell me I was menopausal or aging. She rolled up her sleeves and went to work. She ordered diagnostic testing to rule out numerous possible illnesses, then referred me to the right specialist to get a firm diagnosis within one month. Other doctors have been known to tell patients like me that their complaints were not consistent with any illness, and were probably psychosomatic. Not Dr. Kocot. When my diagnosis turned out to be a chronic multisystem neuroimmune illness: Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (aka Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), she made sure I was able to see the best specialist in the area, and got my insurance to cover it, although he was out of my HMO's network. Dr. Kocot never stopped being interested in helping me return to a state of health. She was willing to hear my hypothesis of the root cause of my illness and run unfamiliar diagnostic tests to help me determine if I am on the right track. She continues to offer me compassionate care, despite my inability (so far) to recover from this disabling chronic illness. Beside her skills as a physician, her office is well organized and her appointments run on time. She never leaves you waiting as if your time is not as important as hers. If you need a PCP, choose Dr. Kocot. You will not be sorry. read more

Tried to make an appointment and got their answering service at 4:45 pm. They said office closed early & placed me on hold for a long time and eventually hung up on me. If this is indicative of how their service is towards potential patients, I'm glad I never made contact with them. If I owned this business the office staff would be fired! read more

Dr. Kocot has been my PCP now for about 3 years. She always shows concern and compassion for myself and my wife. We have counted on her for my families medical concerns ranging from having a routine physical to chronic illness to the need for surgery. She is always happy to make the referral for things that are out of her scope of practice, such as the need for surgery or another specialty. She is extremely knowledgeable and always shows a desire to learn more and keep up with the latest technology and medical information. We feel very fortunate to have Dr Kocot for our PCP. We know we can trust and count on her to give us the best care possible and that's a huge relief. I've been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years working in several different states and hospitals. Dr Kocot has been my physician for 13 yrs. I'm so glad she moved! That other office was so cold and rude. She's now in a beautiful and bright office which has a cheerful and very friendly atmosphere and staff. Doc Kocot takes time with you AND she listens. She treats you like "you are her only patient". Very insensitive to my concerns about my 5 day long neck pain. Didn't care to try and help find a resolution and just dismissed me and prescribed me more medication. A doctors favorite thing to do prescribe drugs. I had to demand for her to look into a specialist so I can be further looked at. I was crying in her office and she was looking at me as though I was overreacting and basically me told me she's dealing with the same thing and it's something we have to deal with. Um no, I wouldn't be crying in excruciating pain if it was nothing at all. Finally got the answers and treatment I needed by doing my own research and finding my own specialist. And Low and behold it's a pinched nerve in my neck. No fun and very painful and got great treatment and I'm now on the mend and not crying everyday from pain. She is very dry and not very friendly so thank god she had a great medical assistant by the name of Jose who lightens up your whole app. I will be changing doctors asap. read more

so i tried out dr kocot from what i had read here. first apt..well i felt like i had to run the show. second apt after i had been in the er with mono. i waited in the room for almost an hour and had to go out in the hallway and yell out...helloo..im in here..and i need to leave in ten minutes..then she left her patient she was chatting with and my 1 hr apt was more like ten minutes. she was willing to do bloodwork and so on but i didnt feel like i could get the answers i needed and felt rushed. not a good first impression. so i think im moving on. read more

Big, big fan of this physician. I find her on top of her game, ready to reach out to other specialists, and one who doesn't need to read my file to know who I am each time I visit here. She is easy to talk to; just about perfect as an internist. She took me through my cancer and stayed involved as I went to lots of other doctors and had surgery and follow up treatments. She doesn't just get reports and file them, she reads them and calls the other MDs to talk about my progress and what they are doing to me--then she calls me to see if I am OK. The entire practice seems hectic and occasionally overwhelmed, but I find my time with Dr. Kocot is not rushed, peaceful and attentive. I believe she was trained overseas so that may be the reason, I just know I feel like I am in the best possible hands when I go see her. I owe her my life--she was the one who suspected cancer and sent me to get the tests and see the other specialists. read more
