I am very disappointed with the experience I've had with the PAMF billing office. My husband has dual insurance coverage, and PAMF is covered by his secondary insurance. Despite this, we kept receiving bills and even threats to send our account to collections. I called the billing office repeatedly--almost daily--to understand why the secondary insurance had not paid, only to later discover that PAMF never billed the primary insurance first as required. It took many phone calls with representative from both insurance and the billing stuff and a great deal of stress to resolve something that should have been handled correctly from the start. This has been a very frustrating and time-consuming experience, and I hope PAMF can improve their billing communication and coordination in the future. read more

This is a nice building and they provide good care. The 4-level parking structure is huge, but unless you have a handicap permit, be prepared to walk further than the employees. They get there early take up spots designated for patients and probably stay there all day. read more

I've had nothing but bad advice from this location. Their urgent care staff told me I had an irregular heart rate and to go to the Stanford ER. I go there immediately after told to go , thinking I have a heart issue and they tell me there is nothing wrong with my heart. That visit cost me $15000 and my insurance paid half. So thanks to PAMF urgent care, I owe Stanford several thousand dollars over nothing. Their gyno dept also told me my IUD could be causing a reoccurring issue so we removed it and the issue stayed. I'm now seeing Stanford for this and they told me they would never suggest to remove the IUD for this issue. I don't trust them anymore and will avoid if I can. read more

Been here twice now, once for family and once for ENT. This is the closest location to me for any referrals. I love my doc in Cupertino so I will always go to him first. I asked for my referrals to be here. This location is a multi floor unit with many specialities. During covid- they check your temp in the beginning and ask you to hand sanitizer. I did get lost from the parking stairs to the main building. Ended up climbing parking stairs where I thought I was climbing to the other departments, and they don't connect. Everyone is nice and courteous and there is plenty of patient waiting space. The roundabout to get into the parking garage is weird too. You have to make a loop before entering while others don't see the sign and end up making an awkward turn and cut in front. So yes their parking situation is awkward. I will be going back for other specialities for convenience. read more

My favorite Sutter center. Care is easy to book, there's always parking and you can get seen quickly. If you make an appointment for urgent care, you get seen quickly too. You just need to make the appointment the night before. I've had mostly good experiences with the doctors here too. The facilities are nice and new. read more

A gigantic medical campus! But hardly anyone there. I found a parking space on the first floor of the five story garage. It was in the early afternoon. Inside the center, there were very few patients around. I was a hour early for my appointment, yet was seen almost immediately. The staff and the physician I saw were all very kind. I had a really frustrating experience with this facility. The Billings department of shutter health is not doing their job. I got a claim on December for an April's visit saying I should pay $240 for that visit. The visit is just a normal check with nothing special. It's been already paid with the normal copay back in April. When I called the insurance company, they said shutter health submitted a duplicated claim for that visit which resulted in the decline of the insurance coverage. When I called back to the billing department, they still insisted I have to enroll in the payment plan otherwise they would send it to collection after the deadline. This is absurd as the insurance should cover my visit and I've already paid for the copay. The new billing came out because they did it incorrectly and submitted the claim twice. Update on 1/22/2023: I submit a message to shutter health through the app in early Jan and they replied they will get someone to review but it will take months. I understand you need to review the bill again but why it would take months. In the meantime, another copy of the bill was sent to me this week and said the due date is now. Is this how you should treat the patient while you are reviewing it? The process is also insulting and hurts the patients a lot. To Dianna from the social care team. I visited here for the first time for skin rash because the place I usually visit was fully booked up. The doctor looked my face and neck (no any special testing), prescribed one ointment, and then the bill was $538.00!! My insurance covered about $90 but it's stills too much. I requested code review but they said $538 is just right. The service is not bad this kind of service usually cost me around $100-200, can't believe it. My husband and I have had to see various departments at PAMF this year.. We have been amazed at how good this organization has become. In each case we felt we not only got great medical care, we were cared about as people. Dr Ann Yan and her team are amazing. They called us 3 times over a weekend to make sure that we were getting care for an issue that arose on Friday afternoon. My husband's back went out after a long plane flight. The Urgent Care team dealt with the symptoms but, first, did all the testing needed to make sure that it was not a more serious issue such as thrombosis. In all cases, the doctors distinguish themselves by explaining the context of the situation and the options so that we can participate in the process intelligently. The nurses and scheduling staff are kind and helpful. read more

Grace Watson NP, deserves all five stars. My experience with her was so positive that I couldn't wait to write this review. It seems like healthcare has become a contest on who can get a patient in and out the fastest. Low empathy, high efficiency. With those expectations, I came to the hospital filled with dread. But the minute Grace walked into my exam room, everything felt right. She was so friendly and seemed to genuinely care about my well being. She asked me questions and asked if I had any. When I told her I have anxiety with my annual check up, she listened and eased my concerns through a mixture of gentleness of humor. Went in for treatment at their Quick Care and left with a Tylenol shot and $300 poorer. They wouldn't tell me up front the price of the office visit just that I needed to pay deposit to be seen. Still dealing with the pain, I called multiple times for further help the following day. My calls went unreturned by the staff who had promised to get back to me. The next day I was taken to the ER and the doc wasn't surprised that they had misdiagnosed my condition. Stay away from this place. read more

Waited 40 min for a doctor who was at a different site. This level of incompetence he is mine blowing. I recommend that when you check in, you ask if your doctor is physically there, and asked him to confirm that someone has seen him with their own eyes and not just use the dumb computer system. It also confirms that Palo Alto medical foundation and Sutter health see patients as nothing but a walking wallet. No one actually noticed us sitting there for 40 minutes even though The whole staff left for the day. read more

The systems and staff here are below good: Billing: First, I made the mistake of scheduling an appointment later in the evening when I arrived on time but the doctor was 45 mins behind which is fine (it happens) but then we didn't have a medical assistant to perform a procedure so I was told to come back another day when they would be in the office. I was charged for two office visits but I didn't feel like that was needed. If the doctor was on time, the medical assistants wouldn't had left for the day. I tried to explain that to billing and she snapped at me in the most condescending tone, "it's only $15 dollars, it's not a big deal, it's not that much". I felt that was unprofessional and judgmental. She missed the point but whatever. I paid the co-pay for the second visit for that one procedure. I told myself I wouldn't use sutter again but haven't gotten the time to find a new doctor. Labs: they don't post all the results for the tests that are ordered online. I was waiting for weeks for something that would normally take days for other labs to process. It was stressful to waiting and the anticipation was agonizing. I finally emailed my doctor who gave me my result over email. Recommendation: EMAIL YOUR CARE TEAM FOR LAB RESULTS. They don't appear to have their systems worked out yet and billing lady was someone I wouldn't want to deal with so buh bye. read more

This is a review for the Surgery Center. An RN prepping me for a procedure scolded me when I turned my head to the left to look up at the monitor to which she was attaching me. Scolded me for looking. And her performance didn't get any better. Militant, lacking in any politeness,... I would refuse treatment from her in the future. 'Not my first choice for a return visit' is how I would put things. (This is what I wrote 'Elizabeth': Your 'apologies' are insulting. All you feel 'sorry' for is reading people's comments; you never actually apologize on behalf of anyone or anything. Those are known as 'weasel words'. 'I'm sorry you feel that way...', 'I'm sorry to read that....', 'I'm sorry that you feel...' ****'We're disappointed to read.....'**** If there isn't a better weasel-word apology than that, I dunno what is. Enough of that. If you cannot offer unqualified apologies for what people are saying they went through, then you should put a sock in it and just stop saying anything. It's incredibly insulting. And who are you? Anyone with any authority there? Social media manager? Why not someone making those 'apologies' who actually is in healthcare or management there? Why isn't it a nursing manager? Incompetent staff, billing problems, stay away from this facility. Don't let this new building to dazzle you. Apparently, PAMF or people who work here, doctors and administrative stuff, are not responsible for anything really except of charging you. I was a doctor's patient here since this place has opened its door, several years ago. Then my insurance has changed several times over the years. However, the staff failed to alert me that my doctor is no longer participating in my insurance plan in this current location. Therefore, the doctor is considered to be "out of network." Then I got a bill, and tried to dispute it with the management. In my opinion, the staff who scheduled the appointment were supposed to alert me about my doctor's status. After all, dermatology department had about a month to do just that. They grilled me for half a year, making promises that my complaint is being reviewed. Although, they've failed to mention that this review doesn't stop the account from aging. So, I check in every couple of weeks and then suddenly they start threatening me with the fact that they'll turn my account to collectors. It took the wonderful people who work here, about half a year to inform me about this situation. This is basically their strategy. They drag the account, make you pay and no-one cares about the the patient experience. No-one is responsible, except you, the patient. Horrible experience. There is nothing worse than seeking help from incompetent people, like ones who work here. Stay away. read more

This new medical facility is easily accessed from route 101 and offers plentiful covered parking. Wait time for appointments seems shorter here, but that probably don't last, and they seem to have lots of female doctors. Excellent signage throughout facility and several restrooms. Big bonus, all new equipment! I'm very impressed by the waiting areas--inside and outside--that are beautifully appointed with comfortable modern furniture and decorated with local-themed art. I'd love to know where they purchased several of the items! If I lived closer, I'd be tempted to bring my computer and work from one of the main lounge areas. Maybe it's how the building is designed allowing for an abundance of natural light, but this place has a happy feel about it, despite some of us visiting for unpleasant reasons. read more

Love Pamf. I have been coming here for years over 10 years. Pamf has educated doctors that listen and care all the doctors that I have had have been great! They have a great online portal where you can view labs, make appointments, get followups, and after visit appointment updates, it makes it so easy. They are very clean and you do not feel rushed as a patient. The lab techs in the lab area are also all fabulous I havent had a bad one yet and I am one of those who have a hard time getting lab work done. I would highly recommend sutter for you and your families medical needs. read more

some doctors are ok, but their systems are really stupid. asinine stupid. you can't directly call and speak to your care team (even nurses). You have to go through a phone process, wait for a human, explain all your shit to them each time, then they will message your care team to call you. a nurse will spend time calling you but you might miss the call. so nurse time wasted. then you have to call them up again and go through the same 15+ minute process to get a human to send a message to a nurse to call you. The doctors here have been pretty good, my problem is with the other staff/those on the phone. I am constantly being redirected to different departments and people who don't know how to help me. Maybe if they called back when they promised I would not have wasted so much time on the phone with their workers. Simple tasks/requests/authorizations/scheduling issues take 5 times the length of time they should. Now twice they have incorrectly charged me hundreds of dollars for procedures. I have spent hours on the phone with customer service and most of the people have no idea what is going on and are incompetent. One woman scolded me for calling her department when I had been rerouted there and said she could not help. She told me she would transfer me and then hung up. Helena Brodie is a gem On 7.3 I arrived at the San Carlos facility for a vaccine to learn that my appointment had been cancelled (by the staff without notifying me). Helena Brodie was at the reception desk on 2nd floor. Instead of a simple 'we're out of the vaccine, sorry', Helena apologized "completely our mistake....let me see if I can find someone and see if there isn't some of the vaccine somewhere. Have a seat and let me go to work." Thanks to her, instead of getting blown off and wasting time, she took care me in the most gracious possible way.' Although is "part of" Pamf-Sutter health it seems like they work in a totally different system and parallel business. First, they said they couldn't take me in for labwork because my Dr's order at Burlingame wasn't "released" (when my dr's nurse said It disnt need to be released). Finally, when they could take me in, they took 12 test tube-sample (yes twelve!) although i told them I was there only for my glucose test and suggested TWICE on calling my dr they said it was too late and it was ok. My dr just confirmed they took ALL my last year's order + glucose (at least!). It's sad although the building is brand new and close to home, their quality index and policies are so so low. read more

After five days on the phone and busy signals, they tell me again I have to see a doctor, which I have done and all the blood work less than one year ago. Then, yet another woman (always someone different to pass the buck--you can't even email them, thanks to legal) tells me I can see a nurse practitioner. Dr Kim has been my primary doctor for over 5 years. She's kept me from making bad health decisions. I can be open and honest with her about anything and she always gives me the pros and cons to health decisions i plan to make. She's extremely knowledgeable, she's got integrity and she always has her patients' best interests in mind. This place has some rude staff. You'll find reviews here saying that. I had an experience with rude staff, and worse because the doctor said her staff did nothing wrong. Dr. Dennisov was out when I asked for a refill for my meds. Ariel, her assistant, called me and said I need to see the doctor first because I haven't been seen in over a year. My problem is I only have a few tablets left of my medication, but I am unable to go for an appointment until towards the end of the next week. I was talking about committing to see the doctor next week but would need my refill now when she started chanting "hello! hello! hello!" as if she couldn't hear me. I was baffled because the phone signal was clear, so I asked, "Why are you doing that?" She said, "because you are telling me your story and I don't need that." I kid you not! I told her she was rude and I'll just wait for the doctor and I ended the phone call. I don't know what she told Dr. Dennisov, but the next day I corresponded with her and she said Ariel did nothing wrong, and at the end she simply said "sorry someone hurt your feelings." Typically when you tell a manager/owner that their staff was rude, they'll apologize and talk to the staff so it won't happen again. Her apology was the gaslighting style. Dr. Dennisov also made conclusions based on what happened when I was a new patient. I tried to explain that this is not the case, but I got the sense she doesn't believe me. She thinks I am trying to do medicare care ONLINE. This is not the case. In addition, there were also inconsistencies with Dr. Dennisov and Ariel were telling me. Dr. Dennisov indicated I should be seeing her every 6 months, Ariel says once a year. Dr. Dennisov indicated that I need physical exam and HTN, Ariel said lab tests. Dr. Dennisov insists she told me I need to see her at least every 6 months. I actually don't remember her saying that... I only remember her saying that she needs to be able to monitor me. Unlike typical doctor's office where if you don't come in when they are expecting you, they call or send you a notice. Dr. Dennisov's office doesn't do that. Every 3 months, I ask them for a refill. They could've scheduled my appointment at 6 months. So past 12 months, I call for a refill, and I'm told I can't get a refill unless I come in -- like holding your meds hostage. Whether they would have accepted my request to come next week, I wouldn't know because Ariel acted like a child in a playground chanting words because she doesn't want to hear what I was saying. In Dr. Dennisov's last 2 messages to me she essentially tells me to see another doctor. She made her conclusions and won't listen. If you want to see a Palo Alto Medical Foundation doctor, don't go here, go to the one in Palo Alto. read more

This is an honest statement. - the doctor bet me his medical degree that I didn't have a broken back . I'm a 30 yr old ex-professional athlete that has experience with injuries. I told him that I would not of come if I didn't think it was serious and wasn't leaving without an X-ray. That's when he bet me his degree that it wasn't broken. I told him that I hope he was right... We got X-rays, he walked back in with his tail between his legs and told me that I had a 25% compressed fracture on my L3 vertebra and that I should see a professional. Good advice. Thanks doc. Some of the doctors here are ok, but PAMF and Sutter Health are questionable. There are a number of lawsuits against Sutter Health for overcharging and boy is that true. I went in for a colonoscopy in November of 2020. It was supposed to covered 100% by insurance under preventive care. However, the insurance refused to pay (charges unreasonable). It was a 41min procedure. The doctor charged $5,000 (that's $7,300 per hour!!!) and the facility charged ($3,500) for a total of $8,500!!! Of course the insurance refused to pay and PAMF now wants me to pay approx. $2,000. While I won't do that, spending time with the insurance company and the various state regulators is very annoying. PAMF has the monopoly and I hope that someone will do something about it. Complaining to the state either with the California Department of Managed Health Care or with the state insurance commissioner seems to help. It's so sad, while I'm no socialist, I hope that Biden et.al. will institute Medicare for all so that these pricing practices stop. The care team did send me a hand signed card post procedure that I thought was so beside the point. Do they really think that will make me hand over $2,000 of my hard earned dollars? read more

This review is specific to the allergy clinic. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. The level of incompetence in both the front desk staff and allergy shot clinic is staggering. I recently had to schedule an appointment for a shot and did get it scheduled. In order to sit there for the required amount of time following my shot I needed to rearrange my work day and shift multiple meetings to accommodate. Today I was told that 'oops, our nurses will be at lunch so you'll have to sit there an extra 45 minutes until someone comes back' before I could leave. Are you serious? Can't you figure this out when booking the appointment? I'm going to have to reschedule this appointment because I'm definitely not going back again to reschedule my meetings since it makes me look disorganized. I have tried to reach the clinic manager but have been unsuccessful. I suspect they have no interest in addressing their shortcomings. Honestly, PAMF and Sutter--you need to do better. If your insurance allows, go somewhere else like Menlo Medical Clinic. I was a patient there for 12 years and would still be there if my insurance paid. read more

This center does not know how to take care of patient .it is extremly pathetic situation . They have no sign where the urgent care is . People are extremly rude . I would never visit to this center . I believe this listing for PAMF should reflect patients/patrons opinions on the facilities and level of care/ accessibility and not the admin/ billing issues, which are handled by its parent organization, i.e. Administration, located in Sacramento (SUTTER Health). Yes, it's unfortunate that former non-profit, with reach and mostly positive history in healthcare, such as PAMF, has been expanded into dozens and dozens of multiple locations, scattered all over the bay - in multiple counties and "jurisdictions" (from the health insurance point of view) - and got purchased by (or should I say, surrendered to?) SUTTER Health, but that doesn't mean that their level of care is low. Nor does it mean that their medical personnel is under qualified. They do have top notch doctors in their respective specialties. Yes, they are governed by Sacramento administration, and their billing is outsourced to a third party organization that handles billing services not only for PAMF and/or SUTTER Health, but other medical organizations as well. That's negative, of course, and a recipe for a disaster every time; I hate that part. Back to the review of these exquisite San Carlos facilities - they are excellent, modern, contemporary, beautifully appointed, and provide for excellence in healthcare for patients. They have top notch equipment, state-of-the-art surgery center, multiple labs for various testing, etc. I'd rather be cared for here than in any of the older buildings (wether designed in the 60s or 80s), where you don't feel well just because it esthetically unpleasing, not to mention badly in need for a remodeling. No amount of remodeling though can convert an old facility into a new one. This place is architecturally amazing! read more

I have been taking my 2 kids here for urgent care and pediatrics for about a year. The facility is conveniently located right off the 101 freeway. There is a huge parking structure. The building is nice and new, not hospital like at all. The waiting area is roomy and comfortable. You won't have to sit close to people sneezing and coughing as there is enough space to spread out farther away. The receptionists and staff I've dealt with are always nice. I also like that they are high tech, I can schedule appointments online and easily retrieve medical records. My doctor prints out a summary of each visit for me to take home which makes it easier to remember things like vaccines and well stats. When my youngest son was born I came here for his initial checkups after coming home from the hospital. We also had to get blood tests to check for jaundice. I am glad I could do that all in one location especially with a newborn. I went to a different doctor with my older son and had to go elsewhere for blood draws which was a pain especially having to do it over multiple days. read more

I have to agree with most of the not so great reviews. The thing they have going for them is the beautiful building but that is about it. First off, the parking lot and the doctor offices are pretty far apart. So for pregnant people or elderly it's a pretty long haul and adds 5-10 minutes to the entire trip. The wait times here are horrible. I've been to the OBGYN and the Dermatologist and I've waited for hours (2 hours at OBGYN) to be seen. That to me is ridiculous. Who has time to spend 3 hours going for a check up. The systems are not connected. This is seriously stupid. None of the offices share medical info so you have to answer the same questions if you have 2 appointments back to back and you have to get weighted and have your blood taken twice. You would think that since they are all part of the PAMF network that your medical history would at least be shared. It's not that easy to call and get through to who you need. You can't just call day of and say, hey I need to come in today. Overall, if you are looking for a "homey" medical practice you won't find it here. It feels like a hospital. Some people probably like that but for me I want to be able to pull up to my doctor office's parking lot and walk right in and see the doctor within 15 mins. read more
