Let me start with the service from Alexa, who was friendly and attentive the entire visit. Secondly I want to speak to the pizza we had there which was absolutely delicious, a bacon and brie pizza. Made in a wood fire oven the crust and overall pizza was absolutely the top that I have had recently. The creek if you want to walk down to it was very nice as well. I guess Elkin Creek is on the muddy side, but still quaint and nice to look at as well. Now the wine, I was not blown away unfortunately and each, had a way of making me think I was tasting some type of Kombucha due to the spices used in them an a lingering flavor. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was that way through all of the six wines we tasted. read more

Lovely winery next to a large Creek. Alexa who assisted us was absolutely amazing and very sweet. Thank you Alexa for making our experience wonderful. Pizza that we ordered was delicious, with brie and bacon and the perfect thinness. It was quite large as well for $21 and we're still thinking about that pizza. But the wines, oh no, I never went to a winery where the wines tasted like they had a vinegar aftertaste. The only one we could stomach was the "soft white". We ordered a bottle of it to have with the Pizza and then walked around the premises to enjoy the creek. We're sad in our hearts that the wine just wasn't our taste, but if you want great wood fire pizza and a beautiful location, definitely come here. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by Elkin Creek in my first visit back in many years. The stars of the show for me were the Chablis-style chardonnay, the dornfelder, and the cab sauv, but I really didn't have anything I didn't enjoy. We were lucky enough to get a pizza, which was a great accompaniment to the wine and ambiance. Highly recommended! read more

I love this little Vineyard!! We come to area every September and we always come here for Sunday Brunch!! They have the Best breakfast pizza I've ever tasted. It's pizza dough with egg sausage and cheesecake it comes out FRESH AND Hot. Ive had their Margherita pizza too and it's magnificent also. A few tips: 1. Pizza doughs MUSt be reserved in advance. No getting around that. That, to me, signifies freshness and efficiency. And local. IYKYK 2. Patio seating is by reservation only on Sundays . (And I think Saturday buttt we only have been on Sunday but I'm sure it's both) 3. Reserve your pizza dough IN.ADVANCE. I'm talking like a month out to be safe. I can't stress that enough! They only sell a limited amount of pizzas per day. So plan. Plan. Plan. 4. Cabins. They book/sell out quickly. So I would say book a cabin more than 6 months before your planned trip. We attend a festival at another Vineyard every year and found out that this winery was only 6 miles away. I've waited way too late every year to book a cabin as they were already booked. ((Good problem to have!!)) it's difficult to go to the festival and drive all the way back to Charlotte. ‍ in the past when Elkin Creek was booked, I just stayed in any AirBnB I could find (which were not great). The benefit of staying here is that they are in such a great location that you can really hit a multitude of vineyards. Elkin, though is one of my top favorite wineries in this area so it's a win(e) win(e) for me. (See what I did there? Haha) Still on this cabin. Finally....I bit the bullet and called/emailed them and booked a cabin for Sept. 2022. They laughed BUT totally got why I was doing it. It's going to be worth it. So we go here on the regular. It is some of the better pizza in the piedmont area. We usually go for the bacon brie pizza. Great wood fired pizza topped with slices of bacon, slices of brie cheese, fresh spinach, and caramelized onions, no red sauce. It is a good pizza. We substituted the onions for mushrooms this time and it was still good. You can try a couple of their other specialty pizzas or make your own. Be warned you need to reserve a dough ball for each pizza you want and it will take a bit of time unless you are some of the first people that arrive. But its ok go ahead and oder a bottle and talk while waiting. As far as the wine goes, well Im not necessarily a great fan of the wines there, but I would go for the Sangiovese if you like red wines. it has the acidity and fruitiness to stand up to good pizza! You should head that way (its a nice drive too) and try the place. read more

One of my favorite thrills when you are on a road trip is following the GPS and it says turn on unpaved road. And this is what it takes to get to Elkin Creek Vineyard. You take the winding road through the winery and finally reach the tasting room. There's a covered area for weddings and tasting if you choose to grab a bottle and stay out on the grounds, you can walk around or walk to the river. They have four little cabins, you would rent, you could get 8 friends or 4 couples and plan a weekend/wine dinner with them. This sounds amazing. If you are driving through or planning a visit to NC wineries, definitely add a visit to Elkin Creek. Be sure to check the hours and plan your whole visit around a Sunday for pizza day. Be sure to make a reservation, it isn't a restaurant per se, it's really a commercial kitchen for weddings/events. But it is such a treat to visit this awesome winery, drink some old world style wines, talk with other guest and find out their story. read more

The hosts are friendly here, but the wines were not to our liking. All of the wines seemed too sweet for our palates. The decor and tasting set ups are very casual, a bit to casual for my expectation of a winery. I found the paper plate and plastic cup combo detracted from the experience and the seating area inside and outside not overly inviting. For my tastes and compared to other vineyards in the valley, this one is no more than a 3...and just barely that. read more

Wine Tour Stop #2: Elkin Creek Vineyard Beautiful vineyard! My girls and I stopped in for a wine tasting, I liked that you could just do the tasting and pay extra if you wanted to keep the glass. My personal favorite was the Vin Doux, a port style dessert wine. I also enjoyed the Classico and Rossa, two red wines. This place was fine. The scenery is definitely beautiful, especially the back lot where there's a stream and wooded drive. The building itself was homey and comfy looking from the outside ..which draws you in.. but then when you get inside it feels a little empty. The wines up for tasting for me was hit or miss... with a couple that really were a hit. The Soft White would be my choice for a wedding wine, it's fruity and soft.. and really made an impression. The only thing that could really boost up the stars for this review would have been the customer service aspect. While it was nice to have each variety explained, I don't really feel I got anything out of it. You can tell when people enjoy what they do, because if they're excited about it, it shows in the presentation. Anyway, I might come back here in the future after I've visited all the other wineries in the area. read more

We had a girls weekend in Elkin and stayed at the cabins at the Elkin Creek Vineyard. They are absolutely lovely. Very comfortable. They look rustic on the outside... This winery is "the one." This is the one you have to visit if you are going to wine country. This is the one you will tell all your friends to visit. This is the one you will read about as more and more people discover this place, and then you can say, "Elkin Creek? Sure, I've been there." The grounds are magical. The rushing creek whispers constantly in the background. There are all sorts of chickens roaming around scratching at the ground looking for tasty treats. There are inviting picnic tables where you can take it all in. It's inspiring. Best of all? Their wine is positively tasty. There is a bouquet on these wines that I've not smelled before in California or Oregon. It's exciting and different and new. Price points are reasonable, and taste is big for the money. The tasting room is, in a word, perfect. High beamed ceiling, beautiful bar, lots and lots of tables, and they are so attentive to all guests. A word of advise, get the cheese plate and enjoy it outside, weather permitting. Enjoy it with a glass of their tasty wine. read more

During my first albeit short visit to North Carolina I was lucky enough to go to a few wineries/vineyards. I visited 5 in one day and hands down Elkin Creek was the most beautiful inside and out. The tasting room was beautifully decorated and taken care of. It was chic with contemporary china, but in a homey and relaxing setting without it being out of place. Out doors was breathtaking, as you can see by the photos posted here. They're my photos but my friend D.G beat me to posting them! Service was the best overall from all the places we went to. The funny thing is the girl that served us did not actually work for the vineyard, but is the girlfriend of the guy who owns the place. However, I think that was the appeal. She outright admitted she could not really go into great detail about the wine, but that was what we needed. We needed just a relaxed setting to enjoy wine with a normal person who could just chat with us and be able to talk to us a friends not a customer trying to sell the wine. The only wine that really stuck out to me was the Mistela. It was delicious, light, but also bold in muscato flavor. We were encouraged after our wine tasting to walk around the property. That was great because we were basically in the backyard of their home and they did not mind. It really made me feel comfortable and they were overall so friendly. I would go visit Elkin Creek the next time I am there just to sit by the swing chairs and listen to the stream converge into one. You will not regret making the visit here at all. read more

I am going to have to agree with my gal Danni D. on this one. This winery was exceptional for many reasons. Atmosphere: Gorgeous. The inside of the wine tasting room is elegant and rustic at the same time. Vaulted ceilings, gorgeous bar, tables and decour. Outside are trails leading out to the vineyards, as well as a very scenic spot below where two creeks run together. Apparently a member of the Blue Man Group got married here, and it's pretty popular for weddings. There's a gorgeous view of the creek with swings and a fire pit. Scenic, rustic, and gorgeous. This ist the best place for atmosphere that we visited. Service: When we arrived, we actually got the entire place to ourselves for a while. The girl behind the counter greeted us and informed us that she's not usually the person behind the bar, but that everyone was out to prepare for a party that night. She could tell us about the wines well enough, and the fact that it was less formal was actually refreshing. We felt like we were kicking back with an old girlfriend and had a bunch of laughs and good conversation. Wines: Your wine flight here gets you seven wines. I'm more of a white/nondry/fruity/rosè, so these might be a bit skewed if you're a red lover. Chardonnay - Stainless steel fermented, this is extremely light, crisp and fruity for a chardonnay. It had a malty finish that made it pleasing all around. Mistela - This one was my favorite. If you're a fan of muscato, then you'll like the mistela. This is their mix of their pinot grig, chardonnay, and voignier. This could be paired with a light pork or chicken meal, or perhaps even used as a dessert wine. Soft White - Apparently this is one of their best sellers, and I did enjoy the light, crisp taste. Aptly named soft white, it's also a very mellow wine, not one that's going to nag at your taste buds after a glass or two. Great dinner wine, and I can see it going well with spicy foods. Rossa - I'm not a red person, but if you are a red lover, you are going to find this wine intriguing. It's a soft tannin wine that's a mix of merlot, sauvingnon and syrah, but has a healthy overtone of red fruit flavor. I can see this going with a hanger steak and loving it. Cabernet - For my general taste, this is a no go. A red wine with a largely oak taste, and very dry. The only pleasantness I experienced were the overtones of vanilla and cassis. Classic - Their blend of merlot and sangiovese. A heavy, dry red wine, and not to my particular liking. Family Reserve - Again, heavy, dry, and very heavy tannins. Very rich in texture, though. All in all, a great experience. All of the whites were to my liking, and I'm sure if I were a red kinda gal, I probably would have been into the entire selection. My family and I went to Elkin Creek Vinyard for Sunday pizza brunch, a wine tasting, and to buy a few bottles of wine. We arrived right on the lunch rush, but we reserved our pizza dough ahead of time. They warned us that they'd be busy and we might get a bit of a wait. Well, they did warn us. When we arrived, we split wine tastings while we waited for a table to open up. The wine was fantastic across the board. There was nothing on the tasting menu that I wouldn't gladly serve to guests. We got seated and ordered after the tasting. Then we waited. We passed the time talking about the tasting, drinking wine, and picking some bottles to buy for later. We got a pizza and all of us jumped on it like a pack of wolves. We then slowly realized that it was not a pizza we had ordered. We got someone else's pizza. It was fabulous anyway. Crispy, lovely crust, beautiful sauce, and baked to perfection. They apologized for the mixup and we removed one pizza from our order happily enough. Then we sat for an hour and change waiting for our next pizza. The rest came out quickly enough and were just as delicious as the first, mistaken one. Wow, what a pizza! That's what's tipping this review from 4 to 5 stars despite the service. Even so, make sure to reserve pizza ahead of time and make sure to leave time for slow service if you want pizzas. read more

My husband and I stayed in one of the cabins and we had a wonderful time. The cabin was exactly what I was hoping for. I loved the swing on the back deck. It had a full kitchen including all items so if we wanted to eat or cook in the cabin we were able to. On Sunday we had reservations, which they told us to definitely make for the brick oven pizza which was delicious. We also both did the wine tasting and bought wine. I really liked that you get a free glass with the wine tasting, always like a souvenier. The grounds by the winery were pretty and we were able to walk to the creek. Great wines made here. We were treated to a 7 wine tasting. They are all great. They staff was friendly and helpful. They do offer a great antipasto plate that we all shared. Excellent meat and cheese. There is more available here than wine. Several historic buildings are part of the complex. The tasting room looks to be in an old barn. Nearby is a pavilion for parties. There are 4 cabins can be rented by the week or day creekside. Certainly a fun afternoon. read more

I have been here roughly four times in the past five years. We first heard about this winery from the owners of the Vintage Inn Bed and Breakfast. They raved about the brick oven pizza. Elkin Creek has a wonderful atmosphere, very rustic and wooden (tasting room/dining room). They usually have about 8 or so wines each time that I have been. I really love to participate in a tasting because the wine maker has presented the tasting each time that I have been here. You can tell that he has put a lot of thought in his craft and is passionate about his wines. I feel like this always ups the experience. I absolutely hate going into a winery where the people pouring could care less about the wine you are tasting. My husband really liked their Cabernet Sauvignon this time. I really like their Chardonnay because it is aged in stainless steel instead of oaked barrels (just my preference). The price point on the wine is about $20 per bottle, give or take some money. I tried the reserve wine this year and preferred my husband's Cab Sav (which was $10 less per bottle). Overall, wine experience was good. I do enjoy their brick oven pizza. A word of wisdom: I wouldn't go on a holiday weekend. We went over Memorial Day and waited almost two hours. If you do go on a busy weekend then maybe call ahead and reserve dough and then call in your pizza order an hour before you arrive. My only complaint this time was that feta cheese was VERY salty. I love feta cheese and buy it by the caseload so I know that it's a little more salty than other cheeses, but this was like licking a salt block. I haven't experienced this before, so maybe it's a fluke. read more

After a recent trip to the Yadkin Valley with some friends to go wine tasting the general consensus was that Elkin Creek was our overall favorite. We hit quite a few while we were up there, too. The innkeeper at our B&B mentioned how they do this wood fired pizza only on Sundays and that it is really popular. That sold us at first. So we called and "reserved" our dough via his recommendation. After hitting a couple other wineries we were ready to try out the pizza for lunch. The drive back into the winery was nice and scenic. The building has a log cabin/lodge feel to it. We were already starting to like the place a lot just walking in. They seated us at the wine tasting bar and we put in our order for the pizza. The pizza was amazing! Ours had bacon, brie, and spinach on it. The crust is pretty thin, which I love, so if you're all about deep dish this may not wow you as much. While waiting for the pizza they did the wine tasting. One of the owners, Louis, was doing the pouring. The wines were all very good, but what I really liked was how he gave a nice description of the wine and told why they chose to make that particular kind in the way that they did. The Rossa was probably my favorite. The food, the scenery, and the wine all added up to a great tasting experience. They also have cabins you can rent there as well and for our next trip up that way we will probably consider them. read more

Wow! My husband and I stayed here in January and we would go back in a heartbeat! They ran a winter special that included 2 nights, 2 tastings, and pizza lunch on Sunday. I was a little anxious because I am not very outdoorsy and the cabins sounded a little too rustic for my taste - I was pleasantly surprised all around! The cabin was on a rushing creek that was very relaxing, and it was in nature but very nicely appointed inside. It was a great getaway but also had all the conveniences I needed. We bought a loaf of the sourdough bread that was right out of the oven and I am still thinking about it regularly 2 months later. The wine tasting was great - we especially liked the viognier with our pizza. All of the owners were super nice and clearly work hard to make it a good experience. Overall this is a great place to drink, eat, and stay, and we can't wait to do it again! read more

Start with what is important - Wines were good and service was good. Wines: Of the various Vineyards we visited over the weekend, this one probably had the most wines that I could give strong marks and considerations for purchasing. There were only two whites but they were both excellent - we chose the Chardonnay. Of the three reds, the Adequate Red didn't fit my tastes but the others were quite good. Personally, I liked the Rossa best. The two surprises were the Port and the Dessert wine. The Vin Dioux (Port) was very nice. The Vino Limone is unique and absolutely one to purchase. Service: Host was quite pleasant and gave us attentive service and amble time. We did not try the Bistro but pizza that folks at next table had did look tasty. ok, we were warned that they now really only do weddings but we went anyway. We walked in, no one greeted us we walked up to the bar, tasting room and no one even looked at us. We stood there for about 10 minutes noting we could not get to the bar and turned around and left. Was the wine good, who knows. It seemed like more people were eating than tasting. After our wedding my wife and I stayed at Elkin Creek Vineyard in one of the cabins on the property. We absolutely loved it, very clean and nice. We visited the winery and did a wine tasting and had the pesto pizza. All of their wines were great and the pizza was delicious! The grounds were also very pretty with the buildings and the river cutting through. Next time we are in Elkin we will definitely be going back! Everyone was nice and friendly. read more

Definitely go to this vineyard. The tasting room is in a lovely building that used to be a restaurant. It has very high ceilings with exposed wooden beams. Like another reviewer said, it's nice and homey and modern all at the same time. The grounds are beautiful. But, it was raining when we were there so we weren't able to walk around and enjoy them. I could definitely see that place making a great setting for a wedding. The wine. Drink it. All of it. If you like wine you will love this place. If you're able to do your wine-tasting with the wine maker (sorry I forgot his name) then I highly recommend it. He seemed to stay around the bar so I'd try to sit there. When you listen to him describe the wines you can really tell that there is a lot of love and appreciation of wine that goes into the wines made there. All of the wines were different than I was expecting. Chardonnay that wasn't overly oaky and buttery (it was light and refreshing). The Rossa was definitely our favorite; try it. We also were lucky enough to pick a Sunday to go so we got to enjoy their pizzas. It was some of the best pizza we've ever had. All in all...Go there, eat, drink. Love it. Stayed @ Elkin. Elkin Creek Vineyards has new beautifully decorated log cabins that we stayed in for the weekend. Sipped on great wine at the tasting room, (took 2 bottles back to the room!), cooked in our cabin (and there are some cute restaurants close by) and took in the great scenery. The creek is so amazing and tranquil, we enjoyed listening on the back porch.. What a great get away! We are making our plans to go back next spring! read more

No explanation or apologetic tone when it was finally delivered to our table. We'd planned another stop on our last day in the area, but weren't able to make that visit because of our experience here. One of the owners offered to do our wine tasting at our table, but observing how disorganized things seemed and how she seemed to get side tracked, we thought she'd forget about us between tastings. Some patrons were eating their pizzas at the wine bar which further took away from those wanting to do tastings there. Of all of the venues offered on the winter wine pass this year, this was the most disorganized and disappointing. If you order pizza on a Sunday, even if they're NOT crowded...make sure you allow enough time as you might be there much longer than planned. (We were there over 2 hours). Employees/owners: It did not seem as if anyone working there enjoyed her/his job...at least it didn't come through to us as patrons. This (observation) included the owners (it seemed some were doing or having to do more than their share of the work). Preferential service: It did appear that if one is known...if you are a local...you might have a better outcome/experience. We observed a young couple asking questions just adjacent to us (possibly considering the winery as a venue for their wedding) being told to check out the vineyard website without much more engagement than that. Alternatively, while eating our pizza at our table, locals nearby who were considering the venue, seemed to have a more engaging experience.
