The facility has several areas for recreational and social events; classrooms for educational events, full-sized gymnasium, multipurpose room and banquet/meeting rooms. The banquet/meeting rooms are available to rent for any particular social or business event. If one wanted to participate in an early basketball game prior to heading to their job, they have a locker room with showers.

The beautiful, state of the art, Johnny L. Tigner Community Center is a crown jewel for Deerfield Beach. It was named in honor of Johnny L. Tigner who was born in Georgia but grew up in Deerfield Beach. He was well regarded for spearheading many city initiatives including Big 3 Basketball, Family Kickball, Family Fun Day, and Women's Flag Football. He worked at many athletic events in positions as varied as selling concessions, officiating games, or operating the PA system in his distinctive voice. He especially had a heart for the youth in the community and strived to make Deerfield Beach a better place to live. Community Center amenities include a BSO sub station, ballroom, kitchen, and outdoor patio. Upstairs there is a multipurpose room, dance studio, and a production studio. The community center is available for private rentals with a discounted price for Deerfield Beach city residents. I attended an event in the ballroom that was created to benefit the Deerfield Beach Historical Society. Titled George Was Here, it was a photographic exhibit of pictures of former Beatle George Harrison and his then wife Pattie Boyd and the Beatles' assistant Mal Evans on a 10 day trip to Deerfield Beach in November of 1970. It took place after the break up of the Beatles. Harrison came to visit his aunt and uncle and he stayed at the Shore Road Inn, now known as Pier Walk. Just before the trip he put the finishing touches on his solo album, "All Things Must Pass." In 2024, 18 never-before-seen photographs of Harrison were found at a Deerfield Beach apartment building owned by his maternal uncle and aunt, Edmund and Mimi French. To protect his privacy, many locals kept the secret of Harrison's visit for over 50 years. Fun fact, Florida has another Beatles break up connection. John Lennon signed the legal papers dissolving the Beatles on December 29, 1974, while staying at the Polynesian Village Resort at Disney World in Orlando. The event was very interesting and it benefitted a great organization which strives to preserve the history of the city. I also enjoyed checking out this new community center. In addition to the photographs and historical information, there was light bites from the Deerfield Beach Historical Society, beer, wine, and soda for sale, event posters for sale, and a live band playing George Harrison's music. This was a reminder of just how much Deerfield Beach has to offer. George Was Here is for two nights only, concluding today.

Their website updates on Tuesdays at 5pm for new appointments: https://www.boynton-beach.org/news/covid I made my appointment online and received a confirmation email with a link to cancel or reschedule if needed. They provided a link to a form I could fill out ahead of time and bring with me. I was actually able to make an appointment for my husband for the exact same time slot, which was incredible convenient. Instructions were very clear: arrive no earlier than 15 minutes. 2 Police officers blocked the entrance and took our names, and directed us to park in what seemed like the back of the building. It was not immediately clear where we were supposed to go after that, since we were in the back, but since the only oher people who had been admitted were also getting the vaccine, we just followed other people to find a socially distanced line snaking around the building next to a chain link fence. Another police officer checked for the appointment times, more people took our form and looked at our id and told us when our 2nd shot would be. We followed the line into the building where we got a small white vaccination card. Firefighters gave us the first Moderna shot. A swift process! We were then told to write our own names on the card and take a photo so we'd have a copy of it. We then sat in a boring, blank room with paced out metal folding chairs while we waited too see if we had any reactions. It was very quiet in there. This was bare bones service with little info about what to note about reactions afterwards (and no actual checking of this). All in all, I appreciate the massive staffing efforts here to vaccinate multiple people in 15 minute time slots. They have an efficient, well-run machine of a system going on here. We did not have to wait for anything and the instructions given ahead of time were very clear. Thanks, City of Boynton Beach and all the folks who staffed this Center!

There were police everywhere, both in the parking lot of the park and constantly driving right past the park to go to the substation. The park is conveniently located off 441 with ample parking available. Pinewoods Park is a 18 acre community sports park with 5 acres of lake. The park has three baseball fields, picnic tables, a fenced in playground for ages 2-5 years and 5-12 years, and restroom facilities. While this park is mainly geared to sports enthusiasts with its well-maintained fields which are often frequented by local players, I enjoyed the open grassy areas which are ideal for picnics, casual sports, or simply relaxing in the shade.

The first community center in the city was the Rowe Community Center. it was much smaller and no longer met the needs of the growing city so this center was built in 2004. The building is two stories and is very beautiful and well maintained. The first floor of the center holds the reception desk, offices, meeting rooms, the senior center, bathrooms and a gymnasium. There is a large reception room with an attached kitchen. I rented it one year for my daughter's birthday party. It is also used for community meetings and voting. You can find all of the notices of upcoming events tacked to the bulletin board opposite the reception desk. The second floor contains more meeting rooms and a game room that can be used by the public. The community center hosts many events for the residents of the city for all ages. There are programs for kids, activities for seniors, sports teams, and classes. They hold a day camp every summer, after school programs, and provide child care to help parents when school is out. My daughter took dance classes, art classes, and attended many of the children's programs through the years. Later on she earned volunteer hours for high school by volunteering at the recreation programs. The recreation department does an incredible job of creating programs for the city. Everything they present is free or with a reasonable fee. People from outside the city can attend the programs put they have to pay extra to do so. Outside the community center is a large park that contains two playgrounds and a newly refurbished basketball court. On any given night you will see families and kids riding bikes, playing basketball, and enjoying the playgrounds. There is a lake that separates the community center from Windmill Park. Once Windmill Park is reopened it will be a nice walk between the community center and the park that is getting a major make over. Outside there is also a band shell that hosts free concerts usually once a month and movies outside. On the East side of the property there is picturesque bridge that leads from the community center to the brand new fire station. Through the years I have attended a lot of the community center programs. I have voted here and celebrated here. I have also made friends with the recreation staff who are some of the nicest people I know. The residents of Coconut Creek are fortunate to have such a great recreation staff and a beautiful building that houses all they have to offer.

First off, this park complex is huge -- just under 40 acres. And has about anything -- almost --…read moresports wise that a Florida kid could be involved in or want to do. The indoor Recreation Center houses a gym and has meeting rooms for various programs. And outside are more than a dozen fields for baseball, softball, and multipurpose ones for soccer or la crosse, et al. Almost forgot the volleyball set up with a sand base and the tennis courts. There's a one-mile exercise path with stations; a large picnic pavilion that groups can rent and a few smaller pavilion's too. For the younger kiddies, there's a playground with swings and two "structures" for different age groups. There is supposed to be a skate park and a roller hockey rink, but we didn't see all of parts of the park . As you enter the park, you can see some construction going on. They are building indoor/outdoor tennis and pickleball courts. They are hoping to open either later this year or in 2027.

She happened to be in town on business & wanted to have Kermit give support through this time for the Parkland shootings. This is a wonderful spacious area that showed tribute to the recent deaths from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. There were several therapy dogs on hand lending support in the memorial & just to be present for the families & victims. I was glad that I was there to assist Melissa & Kermit. This park is amazing, clean, & wonderfully taken care of. The volunteers as well as the staff was present & had water on hand to help & give assistance. They are there for the community & for the people. I just want someone to be aware that this exists for others if they wish to pay respects for the current events & thank the community for such love & support to the families & victims. My heart goes out to the community & thank you again for having a place of solace & support during such a tragic event.

They even have an extensive program for Seniors. There are a couple of classes offered for people with Parkinson's Disease which are sponsored and paid for by the organization. Pickle ball is played there a few times a week. There is a gym with lots of exercise equipment too.
