Actor/Director Casey's very personal tour of the lighthouse was informative and charming as he regaled us with stories of keepers of the past century and the maritime history of the light as we climbed the circular stairs to the top. The hosts greeted us as friends and were very welcoming. We stayed in the "Hubbell" room" on the top floor at the front of the house facing Main Street. You could hear the traffic so if you're a light sleeper, you might request a room away from the front or use your white noise device like I do when I travel. The room (and whole house) was immaculate, cozy, and welcoming. Breakfast was gourmet peaches and cream stuffed French toast with fruit. The presentation was beautiful and tasted wonderful. I can't wait to come back and spend more time here. Even through the pandemic, our hosts maintained detailed social distance requirements while providing a very hospitable experience. It was just as represented on the website...very nice. When I questioned what the fragrance was in the cabin, Denise said it was a plug-in air freshener. I asked if she would unplug it, as I was sensitive to fragrances. She opened the closet door (where it was hidden) and unplugged it. She said it was a mouse deterrent, but we didn't give it a second thought. The second night of our stay we were kept up by the sound of mice in the wall starting at 2:30 am. Needless to say we didn't want to stay a third night and lose another night's sleep. When Sean came with the muffins that morning, I spoke to him about the mice and said we wouldn't be staying. He immediately said we would not get any refund. He also said that I had been complaining since I got there!! All I did was ask that the air freshener be unplugged! He said he wasn't going to loose $200 because of a mouse. This was not a rustic cabin by any stretch. It was very nice. You just don't expect mice in the walls. He wasn't interested in making any adjustment at all. Maybe a partial refund? I wonder if they were just plain tired from a long season of renting. I wouldn't recommend staying, unless you sleep well with mice and enjoy the smell of sulphur in your bath water.

The room I booked slept up to 4 people, a bunk bed and a large twin, huge room with full kitchen, micro wave, full refrigerator and bath room. This is a recently remodeled lodge, everything looks new, very clean and the owner is very friendly. The lodge has other room options, and the room rates are better then what you will find in the area. If you are visiting the area I highly recommend staying and driving the extra distance to fishing areas.
