It was an easy check in, friendly staff. The bay view suits are a pretty good size and the bed was comfy! The little kitchenette was handy to have, and was stocked with the basics. Great views and so close to everything. There are many stores and restaurants close by that are easy to walk to. The only little complaint we had was that the shower water could've been hotter. Outlook Inn is also situated near the downtown area and is walking distance from some nice shops and restaurants. This doesn't count towards this rating but Orcas island was beautiful. I highly recommend you visit and stay at Outlook Inn, especially if you have a dog.

Located in the heart of downtown Bellingham, Depot Market Square is the ultimate event venue -…read moreespecially for festivals like (to name a few) April Brews Day, Brewers by the Bay, the Bellingham Pride Festival, Handbags for Housing, and the dozens of other events that occupy it throughout the year. Best known as home to the Farmer's Market, this venue is actually owned by the City of Bellingham and boasts any number of events in its unique indoor/outdoor setting. Outside there are long rows of covered areas to protect vendors from sun/rain, and inside the vast, naturally lit space is flexible enough for anything from meetings to weddings to dances. There are also convenient bathrooms, and up in the SE corner of the building you will find the Depot's only permanent resident: Ralf's Bavarian Pretzels. I've spent many an hour (perhaps even several entire days) at the Depot, and I never tire of its classic Bellingham vibe. See you at the next festival!

We needed a venue that has multiple sections as the wedding has both traditional ceremony and ethic ceremony. We had different groups working on different things at the same time. The only downside of this venue is their sound system does not match the quality and beauty of the venue. The audio of the sound system was more of a distraction and than an enhancement. On the day of the rehearsal, I had asked for the system to be checked to ensure it meets our needs. I was assured that everything was checked out well. On the day off, the mic went on/off during the whole wedding ceremony. It was so annoying and distracting. Finally, the system went out by itself, which was better. Even if there is no enhancement of the audio, at least no distraction. So, talked to the DJ about it and I was told they were informed that the wireless tends to have that issue. Instead of fixing it, they just let it be a distraction. It very disappointing experience. They assured me that we will be using a wired mic during the reception and it should be okay. NOT! The mic was so low that we could not hear the speaker. Unfortunately, there were so many wonderful messages that were shared and only a few tables close to the speakers could hear the message. I was this place up their sound system to match the elegantness of the venue. The sound system seems to downgrade their entire venue value.

We arrived Friday night and could not find any parking in the small garage, so we ended up parking in the street. When we told the team member at the front desk this, he gave me other places of where to park and said that street parking would be fine as long as we moved our car by 11am the next day. I didn't feel completely comfortable parking on the street, but fortunately, the car was still there when we woke up. And thus soon after, all my suspicions about Hotel Leo faded away. This hotel was fantastic! Besides the small garage which obviously fills up quickly for hotel guests, we have no complaints. First off, the hotel staff could not be friendlier. Although we did not have the best first impression with the lack of parking, it had nothing to do with the staff or actual lodging. We were warmly welcomed and were told all the important deets of our stay. At the hotel lobby is free Caffe Vita coffee and Smith tea for guests, along with filtered water. Heck yeah! They also have this really good coffee and tea in the hotel room, which was a win because we're a fan of both of these products from the Pacific Northwest! We had a room with a king size bed and it was very large and spacious. When booking, we also specifically looked for a dog-friendly hotel in the area, which Hotel Leo is. So yes, an automatic win. We saw a bunch of doggy guests here, and they have a designated dog relief area with poop bags. We had everything we needed, including AC and WiFi. The location cannot be beat as we were walking distance to everything being in downtown Bellingham, and it made for a great base for when we hiked around the area. I also love the historic building, and they show the old photos of the hotel when it first opened in the lobby. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Leo if you're in need of accommodations in Bellingham.

Service: 5/5 Stars. Granted, we were "low-touch" guests, but everyone was pleasant, prompt, professional, and helpful. The room was perfectly clean and set-up for our stay. The restaurant staff were very nice and accomodating. Quality: 4/5 or 5/5 Stars. I only took off a star because it is a very old hotel and there are limits to what can do without completely tearing down, which would be a massive shame. You could argue for 5 stars for what it is, but I put that love into the value section. They could perhaps do a little more for a more upper-end feel, but then prices would start rising and charm would start to drop. If I ever have a need/desire to stay in Bellingham again, if I'm on a budget or just want to be walking distance from everything in the downtown core, this hotel will definitely be my first thought. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for this.
