If you know me, you know I've written many reviews for Bellewood in Lynden, WA and yes, I'm…read moreofficially a regular! But honestly, I just want to share this place with the world because it's truly something special. Plenty of places have a "Santa" visit for the holidays... but Bellewood? They get THE real Santa Claus. The real deal. And would the real Santa charge? Nope! Free visits and free photo Saturdays and Sundays in December from noon to 4pm. And that's only the beginning. Bellewood is buzzing this time of year: Tons of apples (and they ship to out-of-state family and friends!) New spirits coming out of their distillery Unique gifts, ornaments, and goodies for everyone (lots of local vendors stuff here!) A cozy spot to settle in with a coffee and escape the chaos of the season As for me? I come for the weekend meals breakfast and lunch are always amazing. We also grab our favorite cottage pie for easy dinners when we don't feel like cooking. And don't even get me started on their frozen meatballs... lifesavers on busy weeknights and absolutely delicious. One of my favorite times to visit is early in the season or during the off-season. It's peaceful, the coffee is hot (free refills) and the view of Mt. Baker (or even the clouds) is beautiful. And the service? Simply the BEST around. Truly. Bellewood isn't just a place it's an experience, and one I'm grateful to have right here in our community.

Lovely apple farm I'm afraid lunch, cider and a bakery. Clean, local. Unfortunately the day we…read morevisited they were quite shorthanded, only 3 in the cafe. We made our lunch orders and waited 45 minutes for sandwiches. Okay. Our drinks and bakery item weren't served. Finally got a glass of cider. No bakery item after we were all finished with the meal. After waiting in line again to inquire about the missing item I was told gruffly "I'm busy, I'll get to it". Next, tried shopping gift shop and asked when the distillery would be open. "wait, when the rush is over". It never opened. We had items we wanted to pay for but no one ever came to the register. Not a great visit. Looks like it could be great for families, if it was staffed better.

Its only downfall is that it is…read moreactually hidden, tucked away in the industrial district off Iron Gate St. Our guests weren't sure they were in the right place when they arrived. However, no one got lost. Baker Creek Place is the best priced venue in Bellingham by far. For less than $1500, you can rent the entire building on a Saturday (the ball room plus the two meeting rooms) and get in at noon on Friday to set up. The rental includes tables and chairs for 200. If the venue isn't booked the Sunday after your wedding you can leave everything overnight and clean up the next morning. Angie, who oversees reservations, is a dream to work with. She responded to emails promptly and answered all our questions effectively. She arranged multiple tours of the venue for us, both before and after we had reserved it. It was helpful to be able to tour the venue more than once before booking and to get back inside closer to the wedding. The venue itself is a blank slate. There isn't much decoration in the ballroom so you can dress it up or down to suit your wedding vision. I was going for a more causal feel so most of my decorations were on the tables. Even with my minimal decoration the ballroom looked beautiful. We had 17 round tables set up plus a few for our vendors. There was ample room for our 140 guest to move around and a 12 x 12 dance floor. We got married in July so we chose to have the ceremony outside and I'm so glad we did. The trees behind the venue are a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding ceremony. They didn't look like much when I booked the venue in the winter, but on my wedding day the trees were stunning. Thank you Baker Creek Place! You made our wedding amazing!

Okay FUN! We booked this last minute and were really impressed. Got upgraded to a suite, which was…read morefun. The kitchen area was small and probably not enough to cook a meal, but was great for leftovers and microwave popcorn (provided!). The bed was comfy and they accommodated our request for more pillows. It's also dog friendly and our dogs loved it! All the staff we interacted with were great and there was lots of grass around the hotel for dog walks, even with stations that had garbage bins and dog bags. The toilet was the best part. They had like a $700 Japanese toilet attachment, it was awesome. Had heat, dry, seat warming, all kinds of stuff. I loved it and wish I had one at my house now. The furniture was a little old and dated, but no real issues. TV also only has basic channels with no option for anything else, so bring an HDMI if you want to connect to Netflix or streaming.

The staff I encountered were super professional and friendly. The breakfast staff were on. The. Ball. My room was so immaculate, if you'd told me I was the first person to ever stay there, I'd believe you. I switched from a room with two beds to one with one, and while it didn't affect price, I was glad to have just one bed and the staff made it super easy to do. The toilet in the restroom was a bidet. I have literally never used one before, so this was an...interesting experience. Who knows? Maybe the toilet that sprays your butt will be the one that sprayed mine. We're like, friends now. Bidet buddies. Budets? They do provide a laminated instruction sheet so operation of the bidet is easy. But you know that now, don't you? Budet? My region sprayed. Your region sprayed. Anywho, parking is a wee tight later in the day and at night. There is an amazing brunch spot across the parking lot, and.a sports bar at the bottom of the lot. There is an ample vending area in the lobby, and breakfast had many options, including a pancake machine and freshly ground coffee. The coffee was delicious, better than I've ever had at a hotel other than the Ritz Carlton in Arlington and a sketchy motel I stayed in once in Wall. I didn't use the pool, but I walked around and it was immaculate and busy. No pics cos there were kids that weren't mine so that felt cringey. Overall great hotel, wonderful room, 10/10, have already recommended to a friend traveling to Bellingham, would stay again.

This hotel had a very comfortable room, and do not use scents in the lobby or other common areas. The room was clean, and we had a small dog with us The hotel staff was very approachable and helpful locating a suitable, quiet-enough room that met all our needs--with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. That type of room is only available on the traffic side of the hotel, so I recommend asking for a high floor, it makes a big difference. They also had a laundry room with four machines that did not require payment of any kind. It was really handy to do laundry while having breakfast or sitting in the hot tub. Usually when one hears that there is a free breakfast, its the usual scrambled eggs and some kind of meat to go along with it. This hotel went beyond that expectation with a very good crustless quiche that was the size of a cupcake, and for those who eat meat, a biscuit, ham and cheese sandwich. Also more juice selections beyond orange juice, and a very responsive staff that refilled anything they ran out of almost immediately. The dining area had a relaxing view of some trees, and for warmer weather, an outdoor area to sit. I also used the jacuzzi that was not too overloaded with chemicals, and was actually hot instead of warm like a bath tub, like many hotels keep the water. The pool was L-shaped, and big enough to do some laps for exercise. Both together indoors.

It was surface…read moreclean-ish, but there was a bunch of fur build up in the corners and crevices of the room, behind the bed, etc. Housekeeping is definitely not cleaning with the vacuum wand to get the corners and is not moving the bed to clean under or behind it. I inspected the room for signs of bedbugs when we first arrived and found none. (Whew!) When packing up to leave I saw a carpet beetle larvae crawling on the wall near the night stand. I was alarmed and tore the bed apart only to find another fat larvae crawling between the box spring and mattress. There was an exoskeleton on the windowsill too. I battled carpet beetles over a decade ago after moving into an infested apartment, so I am familiar with what a nightmare they are. We reported the issue to the front desk and got an apology and 5000 points added to our account. That's it. Fast forward 3 weeks. Despite quarantining everything we took with us on the trip and giving things a good wash and vacuum before they were brought into the house, we are now dealing with the beginnings of a carpet beetle infestation in our home. Ive found about 20 larvae this last week. I've spent the last weekend vacuuming everything thoroughly and have an exterminator coming out later this week to treat our home so we hopefully get on top of this. Beyond the cleanliness and carpet beetle issue, the hotel amenities were nice and the staff were friendly, so I gave two stars for that.... Now we get to spend time daily trying not to freak out over this potential infestation in my home and cleaning everything deeply again, and again, and again... What a nightmare. :(
