The quality of this nail salon has gone drastically downhill. On my last several visits I had to wait almost 30 minutes past my appointment time for my pedicures, which is unacceptable. If you're going to book appointments then you can't also take everyone who walks in. There's nothing worse than walking in for a pedicure and seeing every chair already occupied, and no one anywhere near the end of the process. They have changed the products they're using, the quality is not as good, but of course the price has stayed the same. I don't want to pay $55 for a pedicure with products that feel and smell like they're from Dollar Tree. All of the nail polish is immensely diluted and chips within a few days. There had also been a lot of staff turnover. The staff are not as friendly as they used to be. Who wants to pay $55 to have someone scowling at you for 45 minutes? Not me. Even with the reservation, we were told it would be a 10 minute wait, fine no big deal. Actually, I had to wait 40 minutes and we weren't even seated together. Elle's is very bright and clean !! i go every 3-4,weeks to get a gel manicure. It's such a wonderful way to relax, especially when you're given a complimentary neck and shoulder massage .... Coming to Elle to get my nails done is such a hit or miss. When the owner is there the service is phenomenal. However, the last time that I was there the service was horrible. I booked an appointment for a pedicure and gel manicure and when I got there it seemed as though I was inconveniencing all of the employees. Once they acknowledged that I was there, they went back to playing on their phones and gossiping with their co-workers. This didn't bother me at all. What bothered me was that when I told them I picked my color they made me wait 10 minutes before clearing off a space to do my nails. When I was seated, the nail tech cut my cuticle until it bled and when I said it hurt, she rolled her eyes! The WORST place to get your nails done in Middletown. I have been a customer since high school (9 yrs ago) and my past several appointments have been horrible. I'm at the point of writing a yelp review. I had an appointment booked for a manicure and pedicure for a wedding I am in, but when I showed up it seemed like nobody had a clue and asked me several times during my appointment for clarification that I had also booked for my nails to be done. My nails ended up coming out so horribly.... I cried during the appointment due to how poor the service was! My nails are razor sharp on the edges despite many attempts to politely ask for them to be rounded... I'm a pediatric nurse and simply cannot have sharp nails. I tried so hard to be polite and was incredibly out of my comfort zone asking for my nail tech to listen to me, so if you're someone like me then I DEFINITELY do not recommend. My best friend and I came to celebrate her upcoming birthday with pedicures. We got in, picked out our polish colors and sat down in the pedicure chairs for no more than 10 minutes before the experience came to an abrupt stop. After soaking our feet for about 5 minutes, the young woman doing my pedicure took out one of my feet from the bath and began cutting and filing my nails. She used a buffing square on my big toe first and her force and negligence with this tool immediately tore apart my toe around the cuticle. I began pouring out blood and she just continued on attempting to buff the other nails. I had to stop her and bring attention to all of the blood gathering at the top of my toe. Instead of trying to clean up the blood and help me tend to the obviously serious injury; she just got up and grabbed a mystery bottle, continuously dropping a solution onto the cut that stung to high heaven. This kept on for over a minute (as I was trying to be patient) before I told her that this was painful and the blood clearly isn't stopping. I asked her what she was trying to put on me and she wouldn't tell me what it was; just kept saying it was "something to stop the blood". Maintaining my composure, I simply asked for a paper towel to clean up all of the blood. Another young woman brought me a paper towel as the entire nail salon began to take notice that there was panic on the faces of all the girls surrounding me. All of a sudden, this girl who was working on me... was gone. No one even tried to help me clean everything up or offer me a bandage. I had to ask another person for a bandage and proceeded to clean my foot up, dry off my legs and other foot and wrapped up my toe by myself while everyone looked on. My friend and I got ourselves together to leave and as we were practically out the front door, the young woman who did this reappeared and approached me handing me a blank gift card. I'm not even sure what the gift card is worth but regardless, after this experience, I'm certainly going to come back... I know there isn't much else to do besides offer compensation (I'm not unrealistic) but even some assistance in the moment and an apology would have been more! I was just so disappointed. My friend's birthday celebration was ruined, sustaining this injury means I couldn't even go get a pedicure somewhere else and now I have to wait however for this to heal before even painting my nails myself. Looks like flip flops season will have to wait a little longer. While I don't want to generalize a review for this entire business, making sure that your nail technicians are careful and experienced is CRUCIAL. I truly think that this young lady was careless and underprepared to do this job. read more

I've been coming here for about 7 years, they went through some staff changes at one point that I wasn't happy about but now they seem to be back to the quality that brought me here in the first place, so if you left for awhile like I did I'd say give them another chance, they're awesome again. I tried many other salons but this is the best in the area unless you want to drive 50+ minutes away. If you're worried about "The Cold" they run a very sanitary operation with barriers etc, in my opinion you'd have to lick doorknobs and literally try to get sick to catch something here. The rewards program is generous, I had $50+ in rewards I forgot about that I got to use this month! They also occasionally make notes of what polishes you like in your assigned membership box that contains tools only used for you. 5/5 service and I keep coming here even though I moved a couple cities away. read more

It included a foot bath with essential oils, cuticle trim, exfoliation, buff, massage with lotion, hot towel, color, and a nice quick massage while your toes are drying. The spa pedicure I believe is $54 for comparison. I don't know what that one includes. The staff is extremely kind and I like that they referred to me by my first name, very welcoming. Great pedicure, but the worst manicure I've ever had. My cuticles were cut so short that three fingers on my right hand were left bleeding and one on my left hand left bleeding. I repeated to three different employees that I wanted a shellac manicure, but somehow ended up with a regular manicure (which after left bleeding I sure wasn't going to correct them and end up spending more money on a shellac manicure). I went into Elle on a whim to get a mani/pedi. I know it's winter time, but #treatyoself. I was a walk-in, and they took me right away. The total experience was $44 plus tip - basic manicure and pedicure. The guy who did mine was really nice. He spent a while doing everything he was doing and you could tell her was really concerned about doing a good job. The massage on my feet/legs was intense and a bit painful at times, but no pain, no gain. When my pedicure was over, he walked me over to the table to do the manicure. I'll admit that my cuticles were out of control, but the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because he was a bit aggressive. I actually started bleeding a bit and he had to get the styptic liquid. A few are sore and a bit raw, but it's ok. I almost want to give 5 stars anyway because after I was drying, he came over to do some last application of something or other, and realized I'd seriously smudged my big toe. He sat down on the floor, cleaned it up, fixed it, and repainted. I was so impressed. read more

I booked an appointment for 6pm on Friday evening for pedicure and eyebrow waxing. When I walk in on time for my appointment the place is packed and no one asks me why I'm there for 10 minutes. Then they just place me in a pedicure seat to wait for another 10 minutes. My pedicure was rushed, you could tell the staff was eager to get out of there, they made me feel rushed and unwelcome. The pedicure was okay but again felt very rushed. By the time she was finished there was no one left in the salon and I couldn't even get my brows done. I had Emily who was really sweet, but extremely aggressive with everything such as nail clipping, filing, and cleaning of the cuticles. There were way too many times during the appointment that I winced and told her it was too rough. She was also very quick about everything, I felt extremely rushed. This place has gone downhill I think, I used to love coming here; the service was in my opinion, comparable to Parisian or a full day spa, but now it's like any other nail salon. I just had a pedicure with Danny - it was awful. It was SO FAST, it was like he didn't spend any time on anything, he gave me a classic pedicure in less than 30 minutes. I think he also only put on one coat of the actual nail color, and then a bottom and top coat. I've been to the Newington location many times. I was always greeted and treated well by the staff. I expected the same while visiting this location. My Mother and I arrived. The owner was having a conversation with another gentleman. The owner seen my Mother and I waiting. The owner continued his conversation for another five minutes. When the owner came to check us in, he didn't bother to say hello. We told him we had an appointment. . My Mother and I were told to have a seat. The owner prepared the water, then had us take our seats at the pedicure station. My water was cold. The owner had already walked away. We sit waiting 10 minutes, when the owner seats a white patron next to us. He is very nice to her, making small talk. He asks her if she likes the temperature of her water. I was wondering how come we were not treated this way. Five minutes goes by, when the nail tech comes over. She goes to the white patron. My Mother and I were not happy. The owner realized the error and corrected it. All of this for a mediocre pedicure. We will not go back to this location. A suggestion to the owner, provide great customer to all of your customers. First time client, walk-in for pedicure, 10 min wait. My nail tech, Kim, is wonderful! She was informative of the service options and has a friendly personality. I choose the green tea pedicure which left my skin feeling very soft and hydrated. The pedicure was everything a pedicure can be. Renewing, relaxing, and polished. The selection of polish is pretty standard, Essie or Opi colors. The salon is well kept and clean. They also provide the option for membership at a $10 fee, in which you benefit from a point system and your own set of nail tools to use during your visits. I've been to Elle salon twice so far and received different services each time. The staff is generally nice, but I'm not sure that the quality of their work is worth the cost. On my first visit, I had a regular pedicure and a gel manicure with a group of four friends. Though we came together and made appointments in advance, two of us waited about 15-20 minutes between services and two of us had to wait for chairs to be available at the start even though we arrived on-time. The staff was kind though and I liked the look of the manicure of the technician who did my friend's manicure. The massage chair I was placed in didn't function properly as a whole, but it was still okay. However, the gel manicure started peeling off after less than a week when they typically last at least two weeks for me. The second time I visited was for a spa pedicure. Again, I made appointments in advance. The spa pedicure was good, though it didn't involve a paraffin wax. The massage chair I was placed in didn't have a remote control and though I asked for one, there was it one available to use until another patron left. Normally, that's not a problem, but I have longer legs and was cramped for the majority of the pedicure until after the foot and leg massage had taken place. When I did get a remote control and adjusted the settings, I found that the base was broken so I could only move the back, which also didn't massage. Although they were generous and gave us bottles of lotion on the first visit and a box of chocolates it Valentine's on our visit today, they did not take the yelp check-in discount offered online, which was one of the reasons we chose that salon instead of another option. Overall, each visit was okay, but nothing truly exceptional stood out. Had the manicure lasted longer, the chair worked, or they accepted the advertised discount, I probably would have increased the rating. read more
